This melodious raaga evokes mild morbidness and soothing and calmes the listener.Watch this masterpiece from UNNAL MUDIYUM THAMBI. ( The brother plays it in nadaswaram)

The other beautiful song in SAHANA raaga is from the serial "RAYIL SNEHAM" titled
"INTHA VEENAIKKU THERIYATHU".

Finally this will be beautifully handled by ARR in PARTHALE PARAVASAM. The main raaga is dwijavanthi ragam ( from someone wise) but the violin piece is definetly SAHANA.

When the normal bacteria on your feet interact with moisture trapped in your socks and shoes, they emit stinky sulfurous byproducts, says Doris J. Day, M.D., an assistant professor of dermatology at New York University.
1. What causes foot odor?

The fix: Since dry feet equals odor-free feet, wear absorbent cotton socks with shoes made from breathable materials, like canvas and leather, and sprinkle Zeasorb - an over-the-counter drying powder - into your shoes every morning. Three nights a week, pour a pot of tea made with several regular (not herbal) tea bags into a basin, then soak your feet for five to 10 minutes. The tannic acid in tea temporarily inhibits sweat production. See your doctor if your feet are also red, swollen or scaly to make sure a bacterial or fungal infection isn't causing the smell.
2. Why does my breath smell despite constant brushing?

Although brushing will help prevent cavities (so don't stop scrubbing), it can only mask bad breath, since the problem really lies within your throat and tongue, not your teeth. When the bacteria in your mouth lose access to oxygen (which can happen when you use alcohol-based mouthwashes, take certain prescription medications for depression or high blood pressure or simply sit with your mouth shut for a long time), they emit smelly sulfur compounds, says Harold Katz, D.D.S., founder of The California Breath Clinic in Los Angeles; this is the same principle at work with foot odor. Eating garlic and onion also makes your breath stink because they contain - surprise - those same sulfur compounds.

The fix: Contrary to popular belief, a tongue scraper won't banish bad breath - sulfur compounds cannot be removed manually. Instead, keep your mouth oxygenated by drinking water throughout the day and using an over-the-counter oral rinse with chlorine dioxide in both the A.M. and the P.M. to neutralize sulfur compounds. (Try TheraBreath Oral Rinse.) Chewing on oxygen-rich vegetables, like parsley and celery, can also diminish odors. If these tricks don't work, see your dentist.

He survived against all the odds; now Peng Shulin has astounded doctors by learning to walk again.When his body was cut in two by a lorry in 1995, it was little short of a Medical that he lived. It took a team of nearly 20 doctors to save his life.

Skin was grafted from his head to seal his torso – but the legless Mr Peng was left only 78cm (2ft 6in) tall. Bedridden for years, doctors in China had little hope that he would ever be able to live anything like a normal life again.

well, procastination is a thing that is associated with this narcissist. [:)].

Google, is one company that has caught the imagination of people well, apart from apple .
These days, people think that google is omnipotent, that it can do anything in this web world. The excitement, hype around iphone can only be matched with something like google operating system for mobile phones. I mean, there was a hyperbola that google will be releasing a gphone rivaling iphone.

anyway, the point i wanted to make is the amazing simplicity of the google indic transliteration tool.

kudos to the google labs for letting us users use this amazing, simple tool for writing in indian languages with english keypad.
AFAIK, no other tamil writer ( i mean the tool) could be matched with this simple google indic tool , in my experience.

what else, looking forward to something new from google every day. [:)].

no wonder its share price has soared to $764.

well , the fans of Ponniyin selvan have special Vandhiyadhevan moment. I would put myself Shamelessly in vandhiyadhevan `s position as he would be from the Thondai mandalam ( present kanchi area , so do I)in times where he would move from thodaimandalam to chola heartland.

PS has mesmerized generations. whenever we travel from madras ( chennai ) to Trichy in the damned passenger train we all would say, that this was the route that our hero Vandhiyadhevan travelled to reach tanjore from kanchi. [:D] [:D] [:D].

and I am not against making this as a serial or in any visual form. But, Seriously, this would definitely hurt the intricate and intriguing ,mystic beauty that comes from imagination. History gives us great examples of how wonderful classics, epics in written form could not match that same beauty in its visual form. Ofcourse we do have exceptions like Harry Potter. If there would be a careful choice of artists that can fit the characters of PS , i am all for it.

"எனக்கும் அவ்வித சந்தேகம் உண்டாகிறது. நீர் யாரைப் பார்க்க விரும்பினீர்?"

"சோழர் தொல்குலத்தின் மங்காமணி விளக்கை, சுந்தர சோழ மன்னரின் செல்வத் திருமகளை, ஆதித்த கரிகாலருக்குப் பின் பிறந்த சகோதரியை, அருள்மொழிவர்மரின் அருமைத் தமக்கையை, இளையபிராட்டி குந்தவை தேவியைப் பார்க்க வேண்டுமென்று ஈசான சிவபட்டரிடம் சொன்னேன்......"

குந்தவைப் பிராட்டி புன்னகை பூத்து, "அவ்வளவு பெருமையையும் தாங்க முடியாமல் தாங்கிக் கொண்டிருப்பவள் நான் தான்!" என்றாள்.

"அப்படியானால் குடந்தை ஜோதிடர் வீட்டிலும் அரிசிலாற்றங்கரையிலும் நான் பார்த்த நாரீமணி தாங்கள் இல்லைதானே?" என்றான் வல்லவரையன்.

"ஆமாம், ஆமாம்! அந்த இரண்டு இடத்திலும் அவ்வளவு மரியாதைக் குறைவாகத் தங்களிடம் நடந்து கொண்டவளும் நானேதான். அந்த நாகரிகமில்லா மங்கையை மறுபடியும் இவ்வளவு சீக்கிரத்தில் சந்திப்போம் என்று எதிர்ப்பார்த்திருக்க மாட்டீர்!"

"மறுபடியும் சந்திப்பதாகச் சொல்வது பொருத்தமில்லை, தேவி!"

"ஏன்?"

"விட்டுப் பிரிந்திருந்தால் அல்லவா மறுபடியும் சந்திப்பதாகச் சொல்லலாம்? தாங்கள் என் மனத்தை விட்டு ஒரு கணமும் அகலவில்லை......."

"தொண்டை மண்டலத்தார் இவ்வளவு சமத்காரமாகப் பேசுவார்கள் என்று நான் எதிர்பார்க்கவில்லை."

"எல்லாப் பெருமையையும் சோழ நாட்டிற்கேதான் கொடுப்பீர்களாக்கும். வேறு நாடுகளுக்கு ஒரு பெருமையும் தர மாட்டீர்கள் போலிருக்கிறது."

"ஆம்; என்னிடம் அந்தக் குற்றம் இருப்பது உண்மைதான். உமக்கு எங்கள் சோழ நாட்டைப் பிடிக்கவில்லையாக்கும்!"

"பிடிக்காமல் என்ன? நன்றாய்ப் பிடித்திருக்கிறது. ஆனால் இச்சோழ நாட்டில் இரண்டு பெரும் அபாயங்கள் இருக்கின்றன. அவற்றை எண்ணினாலே எனக்குப் பயமாயிருக்கிறது.....!"

"சோழ நாட்டு வீரர்களின் வாளும் வேலும் அபாயகரமான ஆயுதங்கள் தான்! அயல் நாட்டவர்கள் இங்கே ஜாக்கிரதையாகவே வர வேண்டும். முக்கியமாக, ஒற்றர் வேலை செய்வதற்கென்று வருவோர்....."

"அம்மணி! சோழ நாட்டு மாதரசிகள் செத்த முதலையைக் கண்டு பயந்து சாகும் வீர நாரீமணிகள் என்பதை நான் அறியேன். சோழ நாட்டு வீரர்கள் செத்த முதலையைத் தாக்கும் சுத்த வீரர்கள் என்றும் எனக்குத் தெரியாது. உயிருள்ள முதலையாக்கும் என்று எண்ணி வேலை எறிந்தேன். அது என் தவறும் அன்று; என் வேலின் தவறும் அன்று!......"

"அந்த அசட்டு முதலையின் தவறுதான்! வாணர் குலத்தில் பிறந்த வீர வந்தியத்தேவர் வேலோடு வரும் வரையில் காத்துக் கொண்டிராமல் முன்னதாகவே செத்துப் போய்விட்டதல்லவா? அதற்கு நன்றாய் வேணும் இந்த அவமானம்...! வேறு எந்த இரு அபாயங்களைப் பற்றிச் சொன்னீர்?"

"இந்தச் சோழ நாட்டு நதிகளில் புது வெள்ளம் வரும்போது உண்டாகும் சுழல்கள் அபாயமானவை! அவற்றை ஒரு போதும் நம்பவே கூடாது. என்னைத் திண்டாடித் திணறும்படி செய்து விட்டன!"

To me, the best romance description/scene would be the one from Ponniyin Selvan.Everyone is entitled have their own opinion about an epic, and i have mine!!!!!!.

Coming back to Romance, well our hero Vandhiyadhevan would meet Kundavai devi near the Aranmanai Padithurai ( palace) where the heartthrob of Chola dynasty lives.

New York Trip-III

Our aim was to go to SARAVANA BHAVAN, but since that happened to be a labor day weekend and in this food craze city, we were not able to find a seat and were forced to check other restaurant.

We chose Banana Leaf, and man what an ambrosia that was. I , a hardcore lacto-vegetarian, devoured on the South Indian Veggie thali meals. Guna and Hari gulped the chicken pakora, feasted on the chicken briyani and lamb.I know for sure, that those dead animals rested in peace in their stomachs 😆😆😛😜.

After a heavy meal, I wanted my comical portrait. The artist tried hard to make comical sense of my face and i think he failed miserably. It was neither exact nor comical. It was a disastrous. Then, we went to the TIMES SQUARE. with those glittering lights and advertisements , we seemed to be staring at flat screen TVs everywhere.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our trip.

Such a pleasant drive it has been on I-80 route from NJ to Chicago. we pit stopped to munch some sandwiches and pizzas near ohio turnpike, and then headed on straight to downtown Chicago.

with a slight glitch to find Union station and finally succeed at it , Guna signed me off from chicago union station. I took my favorite mega bus to reach St.Louis and then to jeff city and then to columbia on Tuesday afternoon.

The amtrak journey from St.Louis to Jeffcity, revealed the beauty of missouri country side, with lush green fields and creeks and mountains. On a bright sunny day, it seemed to be a paradise.

Ah, I forgot to mention our beloved buddy GPS all the way. without that GPS , I am sure our travel would have had some trouble. GPS and the lady voice has made our trip sweet and sound and a memorable one.

NewYork Trip-II

We met at Days Inn and headed to Penn Hills , the abode of Lord Venkateswara. Pittsburgh Perumal temple as usual was crowded as any other Balaji temple,on a Saturday afternoon. We had good darshan of Perumal amidst long queue and an hour`s wait time. With vedic chanting and devout crowd , the place felt home. We had the privilege of shouldering the UtsavaMoorthy . Man that was bliss . The purpose of our Pittsburgh visit completed with our tongues devouring the pulihora and curd rice, I mean , seriously.

Haribabu drove us to Jersey City, NJ with , Jai dropping by Pittsburg downtown to catch the Megabus back to Chicago. We reached NJ at around 1 AM Sunday morning. Jersey City ,full of desis, felt like home. We woke up when the clock hit 10 on a pleasant Sunday Morning. We hurried ourselves to finish our morning duties and after a DISASTROUS PARKING EFFORT, we set off to roam around New York City, with Hari the Casanova.

First we went to World Trade Center. Paid our tribute to those lost lives, by visiting the site.

As a faithful guide, Hari took us to Ellis island which houses the Famous Liberty Statue, where we spend "quality time" (which means most of our time). After zillion photo shots ( of Hari !! haha!!!!) , we decided to go to midtown Manhattan.

The famed Wall street was our next target. The wall street bull was surrounded by tourists and people were taking pictures from all the corners. We had a good laugh when someone was holding the balls of the bull, posing for a snap.

It would have been a perfect snap of Wall street if Hari and Guna haven`t come in between

Meantime, Hari was all about himself. Man he has really changed. The boy from the small sleepy town called Gudiyattam has come a long way. He is so sure of himself, about his ideals, his way of life. He really wants to enjoy his life.

He blew his own trumpet most of the times, like the dates he had in the past weeks and places he has gone, but all that was bearable for us. After all, we are NARCISSISTS , arent we?? we had good laugh , when hari , as in the process of boosting, showed us a couple kissing on the road, as if that event is unique to New York City.

Ah, the subway transit is another diamond in the crown of NYC. The performing artists along the subway stations are the most interesting and amazing individuals. Their Theatrics excited us. Special mention to a dwarf who impersonated Michael Jackson to the audience oohs and awws. Then, we went to Grand central to visit Empire State building and to 23rd street in Manhattan for a Desi Restaurant.

NewYork Trip-I

New York Trip-I
What a wonderful trip this has been. I remember an advertisement that carries a tag line,"where sanity makes a comeback". when i thought of our trip, this came to my mind," Insanity makes a comeback".It was hilarious, heartwarming, and fun filling (which bordered over insanity) trip.

Right from my start from Columbia, Missouri to Jefferson city and then to St.Louis, and then to Pittsburgh and then to New jersey and to New York, man its been a roller coaster ride.
I started off from Columbia,Missouri and went to Jefferson city to catch the "Kansas Mule". its a befitting name, delayed by an hour, I boarded at 8.00PM on Friday, for my 7.00 PM schedule. I reached St.Louis Union Station at around 11PM , the place which always amuses me with a rich history ,to welcome Guna and Jai.

After couple of calls and a cat and mouse game, we were able to unite.That set off our journey in the CHEVY Uplander with GPS to Pittsburgh.Gunasekar, my buddy from Chicago was excited of having got hold of such a full size car. Along with GPS, he seemed to have knack for the art of making Car rental deals.

We set off, to Pittsburgh from St.Louis Union station. We stopped for a late night dinner and gas at a pit stop.

With soothing illayaraja s music from 80-90s and pleasant and clear night , the travel was perfect. The serene night travel evoked the Philosopher in Jai. Jai hails from karnataka,works with Guna and truly his knowledge about Hinduism and spirituality is impressive. While I drove, we discussed Existionalism, Ayn Rand`s objectivism and what not, while Guna cozily slumbered in the passenger seat, which i would say the best thing to do , with Illayaraja`s melody.

We welcomed Saturday with a coffee at McDonald's outside Indianapolis and captured the beautiful sunrise in our virtual and real memory along the Indiana skies. We drove all the way to pittsburgh. Again the morning was full of heated arguments between me ( ofcourse) and Jai debating on the "Role of Common man in Ancient Art Architecture, Literature".

With his near perfect lane discipline and zeal for driving , guna has certainly matured into an awesome driver who always puts safety first. Guna , has not changed a bit after 8 long years. he is the same guy, who is always there for you, with a laid back life and pleasant attitude and has an honest appreciation for others.

The city of Bridges welcomed us. The yellow bridge with its brilliant architecture beckoned us.

Our meeting point was Pittsburgh Perumal Temple. Yes. The same place mentioned in the Tamil Blockbuster Ayutha yezhthu. I have hunch that it is because of those lines uttered by siddharth to trisha the Pittsburgh perumal temple became more famous. May be i am wrong. But in a state of Movie buffers/eccentrics such things are not impossible.

Let me introduce you to the quintessential metrosexual now. He came all the way from New Jersey to pittsburgh and to walk us through to NYC and Jersey City, NJ. He is Haribabu Gajendran. The man with a mission to make our trip as much sweet as possible. oops, I forget his surname. He demands that to be mentioned. He is Haribabu Gajendran Moparti.

The outgoing president Abdul kalam has achieved numerous things which we thought was not possible.
1.Herbal Gardens.
2. Making Rastrapathi bhavan more accessable, both online and offline.
3. Making President more accessable to common man.
4. Inspired Younger generation wherever he goes.
5. Transformed a Rubber Stamp and colonial Relic Job into something Inspirational and Motivational.

He might not be strong in his political opinions, or in his decisions, not eloquent, as some might say, ( I am not saying this as i have no quality to judge Dr.Kalam).
Even some say, his VISION 2020 is full of glib verbatim, which are closer to be called as empty rhetorics, but people from kalams side, say it is a well researched one and perfectly possible.
But, he is a true secular tamil and a great man and i am fortunate to have lived during his presidential tenure.
