& i'm sure there was more but there are only two eyes in my head to capture all these vibrant acts, that did entertain throughout the day & into the night.

*British India did more than run the red light, they blasted pop rok to the people!

*Sneaky was sik! there pop melodies just draw you in & keep you fixated & wanting more. plus there stage act was out there.
*it was a total trip to see headless chickens, they made all there hits come to life like it was only yesterday they released mr. moon.
*cut copy were a bit over the top. . . Crowded house thought they were in a sound off with them.

What's wid the uptight aussie mentality towards practicing musicians

Now let's just cut to the chase about music within Australia more specifically Sydney. Everyone i know loves to listen to music @ some point everyday, as for myself there's @ least 1 radio going 24/7 maybe 363 days a year in my home. There's also a large portion of the people i know that play, practice &/ or study music to some degree. Now getting warmer to the point. . . . the Aussie style of music is generally FULL F*@KIN' ON! Our rock music is thrashing. . screaming. . ear cracking. . rhythmic & can easily change the atmosphere to an uptempo aggressive & sometimes violent occasion. Knowing these things I've not heard anyone say i wish Australian music would just pop a Valium or a chill pill. Within Sydney, Newtown is a music, musician mecca. You can walk around the streets in the afternoon with the sun smiling down on you & hear off in the not to far distance the snap of the snare drum and the crack of a cymbal & .. . . screeching guitar with male vocals roaring on the mic. or some one pounding out heavy enthralling melodies on there piano that could only make you smile & click your fingers. or a drummer tapping away holding a good rhythm & mixing it up wid some rolls & ride work. Now these people, musos, Ferrel's what have you, need to live somewhere just like everyone else. . . they also need to practice there craft, bread & butter, personal interest. Generally unless ur a world class world traveling musician your going to be practicing @ your home as there's no money for an office or studio. All of this post is due to my neighbour getting pissed off & pretty much threatening me in a spin less fashion to not play my drums for almost three months. . I've got sound proofing underlay not much more i can do unless i invest allot!!!! of money. I was interested in going overseas to study for a short period of time but the drum school has crazy prices that wouldn't benefit you to go unprepared. Vent vent vent!

All ready it has come & messed us up for another quarter. Would you like to know what one of his biggest secrets was to writing winning advertising copy?

Well, what he would do is this...

During his writing sessions, he would set a timer for 33.33 minutes...and when the timer went off, he'd take a 5 minute break. Then after the 5 minutes, he'd get back to work. (Basically, he'd go through this routine throughout his writing sessions.)

Why did he do this?

According to Gene, people can't work for a very long period of time without interruption. Plus, when they do work for long periods, they end up exhausting themselves too quickly (mentally, that is).

This 33.33 minute routine not only helps keep the mind fresh, it gives inspiration a chance to sneak in.

And you know what else is interesting?

Gene never experienced writer's block (something many writers have problems with). In fact, he was able to create 12 to 15 mailing pieces a year...without having any trouble starting on them. (And he only worked 3 to 4 hours a day.)

Now, can you see how this could be helpful in your songwriting?

I mean, if this technique could help improve your creativity (and productivity) in a big way, wouldn't you agree that there's a bigger chance you'll end up with better songs? Winning songs? The way Gene ended up with winning advertising copy?

I'm pretty sure you'd say yes.

Actually, at first, I never really thought about the different benefits of this idea. But after a short while, not only did I notice a dramatic improvement in my creativity and productivity, I also experienced fewer neck/back pains...and less eye strain (the frequent rest periods helped a lot).

Of course, you don't need to set the timer for exactly 33.33 minutes (I actually set mine for 30). But something close to those numbers would probably be a good idea.

The point is: You want to give some time to your "subconscious mind" to work on what you were writing. (In other words, you want to keep your "conscious" mind focused on things other than what you were working on...so it will not interfere in the creative process.) And the best way to do this is to take a break and do something else.

Write Songs Like the Pros With This Powerful and Proven Technique

For many years, professional/top writers (writers in general...and not just songwriters) have been using a powerful and proven technique that separates them from beginners.

And now, I'd like to share this secret technique with you.

If you consistently apply the following 3 steps, you'll notice a big improvement in your songwriting:

1. Gather as much information about your song idea as possible.

Once you've come up with an idea for your song, write down (or type) all related information.

For example:

• Song Type (ex. love song, inspirational song, up-tempo, etc.)

• Song's Title

• Your objective (what you wish to accomplish with the song)

• The message you are trying to bring across to your listeners

• Emotion you are trying to evoke in your listeners

• ...and so on

2. Command your "subconscious mind" to help you with your objective.

With the information you have in front of you, give your subconscious mind a direct command.

For example:

If you're a lyricist, just before you start reading what's in front of you, say something like:

"Subconscious mind, create powerful lyrics

with the information I'm about to read.

Work on it 24 hours a day...even as I sleep."

(If you're given a melody to write lyrics to, say the following just before listening to the melody: "Subconscious mind, create powerful lyrics for the melody I'm about to listen to. Work on it 24 hours a day...even as I sleep.")

If you're a lyricist/composer, just before you start reading what's before you, say something like:

"Subconscious mind, create a powerful song

with the information I'm about to read.

Work on it 24 hours a day...even as I sleep."

(With that last command, you're basically instructing your subconscious mind to come up with both the lyrics and melody...the "perfect marriage" of both.)

Now, if you happen to be a composer, you could also benefit from this technique.

Just place the finished lyrics in front of you and say something like:

"Subconscious mind, create a powerful melody

for the lyrics I'm about to read. Work

on it 24 hours a day...even as I sleep."

(If you simply want to create a beautiful melody from scratch, just apply Steps 1 to 3. Of course, in Step 1, some of the information mentioned...ex. song's title or message you are trying to bring across...are not completely necessary. However, as a rule, the more information you have, the better. What's important is that your subconscious mind has enough information to work with...and it knows exactly what you are trying to accomplish.)

(Note: You're free to create your own version of the above commands. Also, you can give the commands either aloud or silently in your head.)

It's even a good idea to apply this step before going to sleep, whenever possible.

3. Let it go. Think or do something else...anything else. In other words, "trust" your subconscious mind to deliver...by getting out of its way.

This is a crucial step. In fact, this is the key to this technique's effectiveness. Without honestly applying this step, you will not get the positive results you're after.

What you do is you simply "allow" your subconscious mind to carry out your instructions...without questioning it...without interfering in any way.

In other words, you take your mind off the song by taking a short break...or even a nap. Or you sleep on it...and work on it the next day (the truth is, some writers take days or weeks off before actually writing). Basically, you want to give your subconscious mind enough time to work on what you've instructed it to do. (Many creative people call this the "incubation" phase of the creative process.)

When you do this, you'll notice that when you sit down to actually start writing, thoughts or ideas come to you more naturally...and in a more organized way. You'll notice a better flow to your writing overall. (This is because your subconscious mind has done a lot of the work for you...in the background...while you were busy doing other things...or while you were sleeping.)

(If you're a composer, melodic or musical ideas will naturally come to you...and sometimes it will happen when you least expect it. That's why it's a good idea to always have a tape recorder or digital voice recorder handy...so you can sing the melody and record it.)

And what's the end result of applying the above 3 steps (after all the editing)?

A powerfully moving song.
