Today Lionsgate released a few songs from Darren Lynn Bousman's horror-musical, Repo! The Genetic Opera, which opens in limited theaters November 7th. Here's what to do: go to this link, enter the password "geneco" and then you can sream the free preview and download the tracks! In the not-so-distant future when an epidemic of organ failures devastates the planet, scientists gear for a massive organ harvest. A biotech giant comes up with easy organ payment plans, but all financed organs are subject to legal default, including repossession at the hands of repo men.

Here's some crazy news for to chew on while we run back and forth at this week's San Diego Comic Con. We chatted with Platinum Dunes producer Brad Fuller who tells us that they have yet to officially sign on to produce the A Nightmare on Elm Street remake for Warner Bros. Pictures' division New Line Cinema. Earlier this week it was announced that veteran scribe Wesley Strick (Cape Fear, Doom) to pen the relaunch. Watch for any updates as they come in.

B-D reporter BC was on the red carpet for THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL at this weeks San Diego Comic Con and had the chance to talk to star Keanu Reeves about his role in the remake. During the chat, Reeves revealed that Warner Bros. is no longer working on a sequel to CONSTANTINE, the adaptation of the popular comic book Hellblazer. "We got killed by [it] being an "R-rated" movie," Reeves explains. He tells us that he was in fact interested, but the movie just didnt make enough [at the box office]. Watch for a video interview soon.

Something that came as a shock to me this morning is how much Lionsgate was promoting Repo! The Genetic Opera and not SAW V (although, more goodies could be coming.
Although we have yet to confirm the news (it's 8 AM here), B-D reader 'Oliver' tells us that the first official trailer for Lionsgate's Saw V will be attached to prints of THE X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE this Friday. If this is true, that would mean we'll be seeing it online as early as Friday, maybe even tonight after the panel at Comic Con? In the fifth installment of the popular SAW franchise, Hoffman is seemingly the last person alive to carry on the Jigsaw legacy. But when his secret is threatened, Hoffman must go on the hunt to eliminate all loose ends. The latest sequel arrives in theaters October 24th.

One of the coolest props at this week's San Diego Comic Con is a giant monster from Anchor Bay's upcoming Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer (review), which arrives on DVD October 7th.
I love when an actor comes down to our level and can live amongst the fans. Today Thomas Jane was rocking a booth solely for the purpose of promoting Simon Hunter's The Mutant Chronicles, which he stars in. Read on for a look at some teaser art being used at the Con to promote the film. 23rd century soldier Major Mitch Hunter (Jane) leads a fight against an army of underworld NecroMutants. Rea plays the former commander of Lieutenant Mitch Hunter (Jane), a 23rd century Marine who tries to save Earth by leading a band of soldiers against evil NecroMutants. Perlman portrays the leader of a religious sect who thinks he can destroy the mutants and save the planet, recruiting Hunter to join him.

Not much to show you here, but hey, we're at Comic Con and we're going to show you f**king everything. Inside you'll find some teaser art for Dave Parker's The Hills Run Red, which is now in post-production for release via Warner Premiere and Dark Castle. They realize too late that filming never ended -- and now they must survive a nightmarish onslaught or become part of the movie forever.

Best known as Jay from the popular Kevin Smith film, Jason Mewes' career seems to have taken a turn towards the dark side as he's set to topline another horror film. Entitled Silent But Deadly, the slasher pic is set to lens this August in Ontario, Canada. Mewes recently starred in David Arquette's THE TRIPPER and also played a role in Dimension Films' FEAST. He got his start back in the 1994 in Kevin Smith's CLERKS.

MTV Does the Time Warp to 'Rocky' Remake

After a long delay, it looks like MTV will be remaking the classic 75 cult pic THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW, which will feature new music with the original screenplay by Jim Sharman and Richard O'Brien sticking intact. There was no announcement on cast or a director at the moment, but expect some movement soon (in the form of the Time Warp, I assume).
Timetable for the start of production hasn't been established yet but the partners aim to move forward quickly once the final elements are in place. "I'd like to see it shown a year from this coming Halloween, but that's up to MTV," Adler said. The original "Rocky Horror," starring Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick and Meatloaf, has grossed $140 million in domestic box office over the years, primarily from the wallets of youthful audience members who have shown up for midnight screenings over the past three decades.

One of the coolest things I came across at the San Diego Comic Con was a giant prototype of NECA's Regan figure from THE EXORCIST. Now, this isn't an image of the infamous "spider walk" scene, this is a classic moment where Reagan is in bed and completely possessed. Read on for a look!
At the Dimension Extreme/Genius Products booth we stumbled across the first art and an awesome prop for John Gulager's Feast 2: Sloppy Seconds, which arrives on DVD October 7th. It is the morning after, and we pick up with the survivors of "Feast's terrifying night before. There are more monsters and they are even angrier/hungrier. The monsters have made it into the small neighboring town in the middle of nowhere and the surviving locals have to band together to figure out how to survive. Like that is even a real possibility. Will Honey Pie pay for her desertion? Will Tuffy make it to Heroine's kid in time? Is that Harley Mom's twin sister? So many questions, it will take another sequel to answer them all. But for now, we can only sit back and be terrorized. Click here for other ongoing Comic Con coverage.

Six troubled high school students and their chaperon, an optimistic youth ministries Pastor, return from an outdoor character building retreat in the mountains. During a raging storm, their bus crashes, hopelessly stranding them in the middle of the Trucker's Triangle, a forgotten locus of consummate evil in the middle of nowhere. The hapless group seeks shelter for the night in a seemingly abandoned trailer park they find down the road. However, when the sun sets, it's not refuge they find. Instead, terror finds them in the form of Norma, a damned redneck reaper with a killer body who dispenses vengeance and death aided by her cursed companions, a bloodthirsty brood of Undead trailer trash.

M. Night Shyamalan is driving me crazy, I'm literally ready to pull my hair out over his endeavors. For years numerous reporters (myself included) have been saying that he's an incredible director, but his screenplays are complete sh*t. It's frustrating because he's becoming one of the most wasted talents in the history of Hollywood - and now he's taking all the negative reviews a little too personally and stepping away from the camera (although he'll still be directing "The Last Airbender," a live-action adaptation of the Nickelodeon property). Read on for the story on his producing gig, which will result in one new thriller per year.

The website Sleepaway Camp Films is reporting that Magnolia Home Entertainment has acquired the long delayed (five years) Return to Sleepaway Camp for DVD release on October 14th. It's summer camp as usual at Camp Manabe where the kids torment each other for fun while the underpaid camp staff provide as little supervision as possible. Greedy camp owner Frank and junior partner Ronnie do their best to keep everyone in line, but something sinister is about to put a slash in the roster. When campers and staff mysteriously begin disappearing and turning into gruesome corpses, paranoid Ronnie can't shake the memory of a series of grisly murders that took place at Camp Arawak where he worked 2 decades ago. Has a "ghost" from the past come back to haunt him?

A few weeks back we broke the news that Declan O'Brien would be directing Fix Home Entertainment's Wrong Turn 3 for a direct-to-DVD release. This weekend Dread Central scored the plot crunch: Fonda and her friends go to the woods for a couple of days. Her friends are killed by the wild, now staple mutant killer, Three Finger, who of course cannibalizes them. She is left to fend for herself, but not for long. Meanwhile some dangerous prisoners are being transferred by Nate Wilson, a prison warden, on his last day before leaving to become a lawyer. During transport their truck is attacked by Three Finger and the prisoners escape. While being chased through the woods, the prisoners come across an abandoned truck filled with bags of money. One-by-one Three Finger kills all the prisoners and everyone who searches for them ...

Screen Gems has acquired Sonny Mallhi's spec thriller The Roommate in an unusual scenario. Mallhi, an exec VP at Vertigo, penned the screenplay under a pseudonym so it would be given fair consideration in the marketplace. It wasn't until after Screen Gems made an offer on "Roommate" that Mallhi revealed that he wrote the spec. Mallhi most recently exec produced "The Strangers" for Vertigo, who will produce the pic that centers on Sara, a college student randomly assigned to a freshman dorm with a stranger named Rebecca. They start off as friends but things turn deadly as Rebecca begins to target people in Sara's life.

SWAY is a bizzare and disturbing tale of a pair of backwoods flesh peddlers, three sexually-sadistic serial killing brothers, and a family of religiously fanatical psychopaths who all get more than they bargain for when they all three target a young man suffering from schizophrenia who has more than a few skeletons in his closet.

Burning in the rumor mill for years, this was the official news the fans have been waiting for... only it looks like the Weinstein brothers may have jumped the gun. What's the real reason for the hold up? Can you say Neve Campbell? Read on for the story.

From the director of SHROOMS comes the trailer for Paddy Breathnach's Freakdog. A young doctor in a US hospital administers a powerful and untested cocktail of drugs to a coma victim. But instead of curing him, it triggers a powerful "out-of-body" experience and enables the patient - a depraved and dangerous loner - to inhabit other people's bodies and, through them, take revenge on the bullying medical students who were accidentally responsible for his condition.

We just finished watching the film, which was directed by P.J Pesce (who also makes a cameo in the film), and made a pretty interesting discovery regarding Corey Haim and Corey Feldman. For the news, read on, but we aware that this contains a major spoiler.

Today we scored a look at the first five official stills from Dimension's upcoming DVD release of Feast 2: Sloppy Seconds, which we're told hits retailers on October 7th, even though the film is listed as streeting on October 21.

The boys over at Dread Central are reporting that George A. Romero is set to direct Diary of the Dead 2 this September. The website "learned that George has to attend several meetings about DIARY 2 which have the project significantly hitting the fast track. So significantly that we got the word it's 99.9% a go for the film to start production this September..." Our heroes, trapped in the mansion where we left them, battle waves of ravenous zombies, barely escaping alive. In search of a safe place to settle, they commandeer an abandoned ferry and sail to a deserted island, only to find that it is already populated by a civilization of the dead. The next episode of the saga is a violent siege set in the middle of nowhere, a desperate struggle for survival, and peace, between two tribes: the living and the living dead.

Actor-producer Michael Emanuel (The Uninvited) is in preproduction on the thriller Maneater (announced exclusively on B-D last week on our indie section), which tells the story of an FBI profiler-turned-small-town sheriff who begins investigating a series of mysterious murders only to discover that the monster he's profiling might be himself. Emanuel co-wrote the script with John K. Anderson and will make the film his directorial debut. "It's a story that was told to me by an old Native American back in the late '70s," Emanuel said. "It's based on the Western Ojibwa (Chippewa) legend of the Windigo." "Maneater" is the second in a slate of 10 movies that Emanuel's Canal Street Films is producing with independent financing. It begins shooting July 30 around Los Angeles, though the producers are still casting the leads.

I refuse to post this on the front page as not only does the trailer look like crap, but so does the movie. I seriously can't believe Regent Releasing is putting this in theaters August 22... If you head on over to Yahoo! Movies you'll find the trailer for CTHULHU. Directed by Dan Gildark, the film stars Jason Cottle, Scott Patrick Green, Cara Buono, Tori Spelling and Robert Padilla. Adapted from a story by H.P. Lovecraft. A Seattle history professor, drawn back to his estranged family on the Oregon coast to execute his late mother's estate, is reaquainted with his best friend from childhood, with whom he has a long-awaited tryst. Caught in an accelerating series of events, he discovers aspects of his father's New Age cult which take on a dangerous and apocalyptic significance.

Amazon.com posted today an October 28th release for Larry Bishop's Hell Ride (review), which was produced by Quentin Tarantino. Larry Bishop takes on a third role as Pistolero, head honcho of the Victors, a group of badass bikers who are out to avenge the murder of one of their members at the hands of the 666ers, a rival gang whose actions live up to their hellish moniker. Along with his cohorts, the Gent (deviously portrayed by Michael Madsen) and the mysterious Comanche (Eric Balfour), Pistolero aims to take down the Deuce and Billy Wings, menacing leaders of the 666ers, but a mutiny looms on the horizon when his commitment to profit is questioned by a few of his fellow Victors. An even larger story unravels when previously unknown information about Comanche resurrects ghosts from Pistoleros past.

Finally Universal Home Entertainment has lined up three released that I have been dying to get on Blu-ray.
I still think it's odd that 20th Century Fox hasn't released a new poster here in the States for The X-Files: I Want to Believe , which leads me to believe that the movie is going to fall way short of expectations. It's nice, though, to see a new international poster that puts both stars - David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson - in the forefront, instead of a giant "X". Read on for a look and check out Chris Carter's sequel in theaters July 25th.
