It’s what people need to know to make use of your website and do business with you.

And when approached in a strategic fashion, this content can rank very well in the search engines. The key is creating compelling content that’s worth linking to, and then finding a way to get the word out.

Here’s a 5-step strategy that I’ve found useful when developing cornerstone content and getting it to rank well.

This is 50,000 feet, high-level stuff that will help you to plan and build better blogs instead of sitting down and slinging mud at the wall.

Read the rest of the article.

Practice Makes Perfect When it Comes to Blogging

Good advice from Problogger

Your first 10,000 Blog Posts are Always the Worst

“Your first 10,000 photographs are your worst.”

Henri Cartier-Bresson - Photographer

I came across this great quote today and as a photography nut it rang true.

However I quickly realized that the quote could easily be applied to the medium of blogging.

“Your first 10,000 blog posts are your worst”

Like anything - blogging is something that the majority of us are not brilliant at in our early days. I look back at some of the posts I wrote in my first year of blogging and shudder with embarrassment. The mistakes were spectacular and frequent.

However with each mistake and failure comes a lesson, with every post comes comes a new skill and with each experiment comes a discovery of a technique that works (or doesn’t work).

If you’re a new blogger - don’t be discouraged if it doesn’t ‘click’ for you straight away.

Practice, Practice and Practice some more.

How to Write Your “About Me” Page

From Problogger

How to Write Your “About Me” Page

How do you write an About Me page?

There are four main questions that readers want answered on your About Me page:

1. who you are…
2. your expertise and how it addresses…
3. their problem or goal, and how they can…
4. contact you

Here is a sample “About Me” page that answers these questions:

Hi, I’m Jane Smith and I write TransitionMomBlog (who Jane is) to help women make the transition from full-time mom to successful entrepreneur (the reader’s problem or goal). I started TransitionMomBlog in 2004 (Jane’s expertise – shows she has been blogging for two years) to help other women deal with the sometimes overwhelming prospect of starting a new business while still running a household (how Jane helps them overcome their problem or achieve their goal). Prior to raising my family, I spent over ten years as a teacher, corporate trainer and workshop leader (Jane’s expertise, both as a mom and a business person). To contact me, please email XXX (how to contact Jane).

Other posts on About Me Pages include:

* Adding an About Page to your Site
* The problem of Default About Pages

This reader quick tip was submitted by Barbra Sundquist from Home Business Wiz.

Get Free Video and News Content, and Get Paid for Sharing It

Here's a neat little tool called Voxant
