Google have launched Google Buzz. It gives the online user another, yes, another way to share our networks and ideas online. According to online research, Buzz is rumoured to rival or even threaten Twitter and Facebook as it offers email, photo sharing, video, status updates and more through Google’s very own G-Mail platform. Sounds unique, especially with video. Could be very useful. Saying that, Google Buzz is only available to G-Mail users only. We should ask how successful this tool will really become. According to the recent chirp conference, Twitter boasts 106,0000 registered users, of which around 60% are based outside the US, and an astonishing 300,000 new users are signing up every day.

We’ll have to wait and see if this new networking site from Google will appeal to tweeters and bookers alike.

Rather surprisingly some brands still think ‘branding’ agencies will not necessarily add value to their company, this is not by any means the case.

Branding is not just about getting your target market to choose you over the competition, it’s also about getting your customers to see you as the only one that provides a solution to their problem – your image and brand values are key to this process.

Think about this, ten milk bottles lined up against a high brick wall, all sealed and full with milk, but one of these bottles the milk is green. Which one would your eye instinctively direct yourself towards? Obviously the green; different, set apart and unusual. This highlights one of the elements of the branding process, making your brand look different; being individual and unique. However, it’s not only the way that you look, your brand values and core messaging need to work hard too.

Here are some of the thought processes we use to help brands blossom…

Structure
Just like a good story, a brand story should have a beginning, a middle and an end. Is your story believable? Will the story have a fairytale ending? Will your customer buy your service or product?

History
In order to fully appreciate a brand we often need to understand something about its origins – authenticity is key. Authenticity = Trust. Getting consumers to trust your brand is the golden ticket. Remember how Charlie trusted Willy Wonka’s Chocolate?

Character
Do you know all about the characteristics of your target customers, their beliefs, needs and desires? Can the customer relate to your brand? Do you need to you educate them? Entertain them? Reassure them? The list goes on…

Tone of voice
The voice of the brand story needs to come from the heart and soul and get into the hearts and minds of the customer – create a unique personality.
