With the advancements in technology, many of us may have thought that the tech products and services that we used to patronize many years ago are totally gone. Some might be surprised when they find out that these gadgets or services still exist even though we have not heard any of them for a long time.

Among these instruments and services are dot-matrix printers, floppy disks, Netscape, MS-DOS and Lotus 1-2-3.

Dot-matrix printers

Dot-matrix printers have played a big role in my projects way back in grade school. Our teacher would ask us to write essays, articles, book reports, reaction papers, research work and more. With the aid of this printer, I have accomplished my tasks in school. I once thought that this printer is no longer being used, only to find out on several instances that there are some small enterprises that use this to print receipts.

Floppy Disks

I can still remember that the sizes of floppy disks have been included by my computer teacher as one of the items in our quiz. I used to like the transparent ones in various colors. These disks are no longer standard tools but I have a friend who has a computer that supports one. There are also new 3.5 inch drives that still exist.

Netscape

It was my first browser. I think I liked using it before and became a loyal user until such time that I was introduced to Internet Explorer. Netscape was bought by AOL.com. If there is anything positive about what happened to Netscape’s downfall was that the now popular Firefox browser is actually based on Mozilla code that originated as an open-source version of Netscape.

MS-DOS

My generation still caught up with this operating system. It was the first OS I got my hands on despite the emergence of Windows 95. I heard that Microsoft still offers MS-DOS 6.22 as a download material for customers with subscriptions on volume-licensing plans.

Lotus 1-2-3

This was the first spreadsheet that I learned to use. I have read that IBM still sells the 2002 version and it introduced a new suite with a spreadsheet called Symphony.

To anyone who is a first-time visitor of the City of New York, commonly called as New York City or also known as The Big Apple, one would wonder what will be the things he or she can do in the most populous city in the United States. A tourist should not worry on what places to go or what activities to do because there are absolutely a lot of things to do in New York.

When I went to New York City with my family, we had an enjoyable stay because we have booked online for New York City Tours and Sightseeing and we then knew that there are really a lot of Things to do in New York. We made reservations for the All Around Town Tour which included Downtown Tour and Uptown Treasures and Harlem Tour which are both hop-on and hop-off. Other inclusions were the Brooklyn Tour, Night Tour, Circle Line 75min Harbor Cruise and the Museum of the City of New York. Depending on your needs and budget, there are also other best-value tours, trips and attractions that you can choose from. You can make reservations for New York Sightseeing, Combos, Planet Hollywood Meals and Meals/Tour Combos, NYC Harbor Cruises, New York City Attractions, Daily Trips from New York, Broadway Shows, Delicious Tours and Student Tours.

So, come visit The Big Apple and find out about the things to do in New York.

I have finished my Basic Culinary Course last May 22, 2009. It was only a 4-day program but I definitely learned a lot from it. This had been my very first attempt in cooking school and I can say that I had a great time.

Our lessons comprised of lectures, demos and hands-on. Our lectures covered kitchen organization, hygiene and sanitation, food contamination, kitchen tools, equipment and measurements, methods of cooking, menu planning, different delicious recipes and a lot more.

Aside from getting knowledge about culinary, it was a good opportunity to meet different types of people. My classmates were friendly and approachable so I did not have a hard time mingling with them. There was even a beautiful Talk Show Host whom all of the men in the class admired. (The guys deny it but I really think so because their heads turn every time this girl arrives in class!)

Our teacher, a Chef, had been very patient. I think almost everyone in the class got our share of reprimanding. We all took those scolding as constructive criticism because we admit to ourselves that we do not know everything and it is only through being open to these comments can we improve in our cooking.

With the things that I learned and the people that I met, this whole experience of enrolling in the Basic Culinary Course had really been fun! I am really looking forward to the time when I go back to cooking class.

I have always loved to travel and I enjoy it even more when I am with my family and friends. There was a time when my family and I traveled to New York City. We really had a great time because we did not have to worry about anything especially on our transportation. My brother made a wise move in booking ahead for a Newark Airport Transportation. There were six of us and we had several luggages so we booked for a Standard SUV. Everyone really enjoyed the comfort and convenience that the ride gave us.

Moreover, the Newark Airport Transportation that we got really provided the quality service that we wanted. They also offer on time, affordable and safe ground transportation all over The Big Apple and its surrounding suburbs. They have share-ride vans, private luxury vans, standard sedan, VIP sedan, standard SUV and VIP SUV. You can get a ride from any of the cars depending on your needs, preferences and your budget. You do not have to worry about the rates because they provide airport transportation at the lowest price with the best possible service.

With the kind of customer satisfaction that the Newark Airport Transportation gave our family, we know that whenever we will fly to New York City and the surrounding suburbs, we will definitely get the same transportation service.

Ocean’s Thirteen was released in June 8, 2007 which was known as World Ocean Day in the United States. It was one of my favorite Hollywood movies. It was such a star-studded film where some of the best actors in Hollywood have come together to be a part of a great movie. It starred George Clooney (Danny Ocean), Brad Pitt (Rusty Ryan), Matt Damon (Linus Caldwell), Andy Garcia (Terry Benedict), Don Cheadle (Basher Tarr), Bernie Mac (Frank Catton), Ellen Berkin (Abigail Sponder), Al Pacino (Willy Bank), Casey Affleck (Virgil Malloy), Scott Caan (Turk Malloy), Eddie Izzard (Roman Nagel), Eddie Jemison (Livingston Dell), Shaobo Qin (”The Amazing” Yen), Carl Reiner (Saul Bloom) and Elliott Gould (Reuben Tishkoff ). It was directed by Steven Soderbergh.

The plot was basically to avenge the injustice committed against Reuben Tishkoff. Reuben and Willy Bank, the most hated businessman of Las Vegas, made a deal to build a new hotel and casino in Las Vegas. Danny Ocean warned Reuben about his dealings with Bank but Reuben never listened. After securing his deals for Bank, Reuben was asked to sign off his share to Bank leaving him with only a $10,000 poker chip. When he looked at the chip, the name on it was no longer “The Midas” as what they agreed but was replaced with “The Bank”. Reuben suffered a heart attack due to the stress he experienced from his financial loss. “The Thirteen” then gathered to plan the revenge against Bank.

I don’t know when Valentine’s Day started in the Philippines but it is definitely a special day annually observed by Filipinos. Whatever the status is: Single, Married, In a relationship, It’s Complicated or Domestic Partnership, most Pinoys do not let this Hearts Day pass without doing something special for their loved ones to show their love for them. It is also on this day when you can see flowers and Valentine cards being delivered in schools, offices, residences and everywhere. Prices of flowers are much more expensive compared to ordinary days but you can see a lot of men flock the flower shops, no longer thinking that they may be paying double for them. Any outfit in red is also dominant. Restaurants are pretty crowded. Romantic films are shown in movie houses readily patronized by lovers. Parks are overflowing with couples. Motels are fully-booked. One can literally say that love is in the air when you hear a lot of love songs being played anywhere you go. You can see many people holding hands somehow exclaiming to the world that they are in-love with each other. These are the common things that happen during Valentine’s Day.

When I was a kid, what I could remember about it was that on Valentine’s Day, a delivery man will come up to our door and look for my Mom. It was because my Dad sent my Mom a personalized Valentine card along with beautiful red roses. Sometimes, delicious and mouth-watering confectioneries go with those two and for me, that makes it a winner. I really appreciated this sweet gesture of my father because it made my mother happy and it showed his love for my Mom. Our family would also dine together at a restaurant but there were times when it was only the two of them.

Way back in college, the CSG (Central Student Government), as well as the different student councils, organize a Valentine’s Day program to add some spice to this Hearts Day. Students crowd to the gym to hear live bands play their funky music as well as heart-warming love songs. Fund-raising campaigns are also being launched through different booths like “love knot” or handcuffs, wedding booths and those that sell greeting cards, stuff toys, balloons, pillows, shirts and many more. Business Management students also take this opportunity to sell their goods which are usually food like pastries, cakes, pasta, brownies and others. Some students even organize their own restaurant by choosing a beautiful spot in the campus and turn it into a lovers haven where couples can dine and have an amorous moment together.

Filipinos are known to be romantic. This trait is not only shown during Valentine’s Day but in everyday life. It is just that on Valentine’s Day we want to unite with the whole world in showing our love to families, friends and loved ones. Despite the crisis we are experiencing, I believe that Valentine’s Day will remind us that there is still meaning to life, the hope to rise above the situation and the reason to live and continue with our journey despite the struggles that we encounter along the way.

He knows that his parents and siblings are really expecting a lot from him to give them a fantastic trip.

We watched Wall-E last Sunday night. It was not really a movie of preference but there is nothing more interesting to watch aside from it.

The first 10-15 minutes of the movie was dragging. It concentrated on the robot called Wall-E. Its lifestyle was shown on how its robot life is spent each day. It was a lonely robot. Luckily, a cockroach became its friend and liven up its daily life. Despite the slow roll of events on the first part, the movie picked up speed on the next events as the essence of the story was unfolded. When the film was shown, I think the kids enjoyed it.

I find the movie interesting and I do think it was a good one but it didn’t really give such a kick like what I expected. Maybe there should have been more exciting events for it to be more appealing to people aside from kids.

My boss is looking forward to his trip to Seville, Spain. He is a person who has an eye for art and culture thus his trip to Seville is something that he wouldn’t miss for anything. He is a wide traveler and his interests lie on European and Asian countries. I think that this time, he will not be traveling alone. He will go to Seville together with his wife. They have been wed for a month now. This trip was one of his travel plans for their European tour and as part of their honeymoon. He and his wife will be traveling to the many European countries for six to eight weeks. That’s quite a vacation, huh? Rich people sure know how to enjoy their lives.

They have been looking for elegant and charming Seville Hotels Destinia. Price is never an issue so they want to stay in the best Hotels in Seville. But if it was me who was traveling, I would definitely look for Cheap Hotel reservations in Seville that would suit my budget.

I simply want to wish my boss and his wife an enjoyable and memorable European trip. I know for sure that they will have a great time together. After all, they are such a happy couple who are madly in-love with each other.
