Kristen Stewart made quite a statement when she attended the Cannes Film Festival premiere of “Cosmopolis” last week in support of co-star (and boyfriend?) Robert Pattinson. So when MTV News caught up with her during our Sneak Peek Week Q&A for her latest movie, “Snow White and the Huntsman,” we had to ask for her review of the film.

“He’s so good in it!” Stewart gushed about Pattinson’s performance. “He’s really, really [good]. I don’t even know how he [did it]. I couldn’t even understand it. It’s so good, it’s so cool, I’m so proud of him. Thank God.”

The superstar went said her overall experience at the highbrow film bonanza was just as positive as her review of Pattinson’s performance.

“It’s the ultimate celebration,” she said of the glitz and glamour of the fest, which she also attended on behalf of her film “On the Road.” “I was so oddly placed in my body, which I’m so unable to do. I was not nervous. I had the greatest time it was so cool.”

After its Cannes premiere, critics pointed out the film’s odd notes but were divided on whether Pattinson was the perfect choice for the lead role.

Directed by David Cronenberg, the film follows Eric Packer (Pattinson) in the not-too-distant future as he’s chauffeured through Manhattan on his way to get a haircut. His entire world is falling apart — his marriage is failing, his financial status is slipping and even his very life is being threatened.

Don’t forget to tune into MTV and MTV.com for more Sneak Peek Week fun with stars from “Magic Mike,” “That’s My Boy” and “Rock of Ages,” all leading up to the 21st annual MTV Movie Awards live on Sunday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET.

WOW. You have all overwhelmed me with your generosity. I wasn’t even sure I would reach the goal of 0, let alone double it. I can’t believe how kind you all are. I’m endlessly grateful for all of your donations. It honestly means a lot to me.

Since I not only made enough to replace my busted iPod (and I’m listening to the new one RIGHT. NOW.) but made that and then some, I’ve been racking my brain as to what to do next. I thought I could make extra mixes of various genres and then you could pick which one suited you most (or just download all of them), I thought I could spend some time ripping my favorite weird LPs that I’ve never gotten around to posting and offer up a batch of 10 or so of those, but that’s still just extra work on my part and pretty much doing things I would do anyway, just more concentrated. And that feels a little lame having you donate extra money and then being like “Sweet, thanks, I’m gonna go buy more records.”

So I thought I might take that extra money and make some AGB t-shirts! I know some of you have expressed interest in that in the past, and I thought I would send everyone who donated a shirt for free, and then sell whatever I had left over. I’d get my wife (Argyle Whale) to draw it up and then get them screenprinted somewhere local. Does that sound like a decent extra reward? And are there any of you who didn’t donate that would be interested in buying an AGB shirt? Just trying to gauge the market. If there isn’t one, I’ll still make some for those who donated.

I’m still working out the details of those extra digital rewards (mixes, old LPs, etc) so don’t hold me to that just yet. But I’ll definitely do something extra awesome because your extra awesomeness will not go un-noticed.

Thank you all so much. You have saved AGB.

As a lot of people know, Los Angeles is a hotbed for much of what’s happening domestically in dance music right now. Breakthrough producers like Tommy Trash, Dillon Francis, Kill The Noise and LA Riots are putting the city of angels on the map in a major way. The mainstream has begun to accept their balancing act of crafting energetic dance originals with radio-ready hooks. Who is going to be the next to emerge from L.A.? It’s a tough question, but a potential answer could be Milkman.

Milkman is 23 and already has dozens of finished pieces on his soundcloud page, ranging from the anthemic “Revelry” to the pop-oriented mashups of the likes of Katy Perry, and finally the bass-heavy “Tiger Lily” (a freebie released just a few days ago). Milkman’s music works best within the framework of a larger club and a packed dancefloor; it’s only fitting that he will be playing a show at Boston’s own Royale in May (date still to be confirmed; more details to come). He’s currently touring all over the country right now; expect to hear more about this dude in the upcoming months.

And in the mean time, if you’re not lactose intolerant, go check out Milkman’s stuff on Soundcloud and his Facebook page!

Fans of onscreen heroics should get their fingertips ready to tear up Twitter because that’s where they’ll be voting for their favorite onscreen do-gooder in the new category of Best Hero for the 2012 MTV Movie Awards.

Beginning Tuesday (May 29) and right on through to the live show on June 3, fans can vote and track the nominees for Best Hero, presented by Sprint, via Twitter using hashtags associated with the nominees. Is your favorite hero a contender?

Check out the nominees:
»Harry Potter, “Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, Part 2 (#votepotter)
»Katniss Everdeen, “The Hunger Games” (#votekatniss)
»Thor, “Thor” (#votethor)
»Captain America, “Captain America” (#votecaptain)
»Jenko, “21 Jump Street” (#votejenko)

The new nods for “Harry Potter,” “The Hunger Games” and “21 Jump Street” add to those films’ already hefty tallies. And the nomination for Katniss of “The Hunger Games,” played by Best Female Performance nominee Jennifer Lawrence, pushes that film ahead of “Bridesmaids” to become the most-nominated film this year with nine nominations. The bump gives “Deathly Hallows, Part 2″ seven different chances to walk away with the Golden Popcorn (and remember, the franchise still unbelievably has never scored the coveted Best Movie prize despite several nominations over the years).

“21 Jump Street” now has six chances come next Sunday’s show, while the nods for “Thor” and “Captain America” give both of those films their lone nominations for this year’s awards. Still, both movies will no doubt be serious contenders for next year’s awards given the amazing success and acclaim of “The Avengers,” which features the titular heroes in addition to Iron Man, the Black Widow, Hawkeye and the Hulk.

The winner for Best Hero will be presented with the Golden Popcorn statue during the live show on MTV, Sunday, June 3 at 9 p.m. ET/PT from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California.

Hey everyone!

Starting off the first Tuesday of March with an all new edition of Artist Spotlight. This week, we head over to Brooklyn, New York and check out the sounds of an emerging singer by the name of Vieem. She has a soulful, powerful voice similar to the likes of Alicia Keys and Leona Lewis, with a sole emphasis on the power of her voice that enables her to take the songs in a more focused R&B direction. Her music also contains some intricate piano sounds that givs her music an added boost and a more balanced intake of melody and soul that sets her voice apart from all the other emerging singers coming up in the business today. A lot of prominent R&B singers came up in the NYC area, including the aforementioned Alicia Keys who grew up in Manhattan, and you can definitely pick up on that influence in her music, but also manages to sneak in some small doses of rock that mostly go unnoticed by the human ear, but can be picked up again on repeated listens. A promising and dedicated talent that I would love to hear more from in the near future.

To check out Vieem’s song “If Only You’d Know”, head on over to her SoundCloud page where you can stream it at http://soundcloud.com/vieem She is on Facebook and you can ‘Like’ her page by going to http://www.facebook.com/pages/Vieem/267448393288835 She is on Twitter as well and can be followed at www.twitter.com/vieem Check out her music video for “If Only You’d Know” directly below for your viewing pleasure!

Southampton, England’s own Band of Skulls have released their brand
new studio album titled Sweet Sour. The follow up to 2009′s Baby
Darling Doll Face Honey finds the British alt-rockers taking a more
melodic and polished approach that aims to capture the attention of
listeners from across the pond and introduce their sound to a more wider
audience and also trying to broaden their musical appeal just a little bit.

The
disc opens up with the ferocious title track that has been getting
extensive airplay on alternative radio lately here in the States. The disc has an intense
and ominous drum pattern that runs rampant throughout the song and
builds up quietly, but doesn’t get too intense so as not to scare away
any new listeners. “Bruises” starts off with a perfect mid-tempo guitar
riff and the dual, harmonic vocals of guitarist Russell Marsden and
bassist Emma Richardson that shows the two of them putting their
creative talents together to create a perfect balanced, syncopated track
that you’ll enjoy quite easily. My favorite song off the disc is “The
Devil Takes Care Of His Own”, a fuzzy, edged out rocker that sees the
band trying out some intricate methods to get the listeners attention
without being too overbearing and loud, something that other upstart
bands have done many times in order to try to get noticed. An expansive and straightforward
rocker that gets its point across rather simply. “Lay My Head Down” is a
quiet, mellow tune that presents the band in a different light and
shows off the band’s diversity as a group and their capability of handling
everything thrown at them with a great deal of accomplishment and fervor.

The disc’s second half gets underway with
“Success”, another downtempo, laid-back rocker that sees Emma
focusing on her vocal output and getting her message out loud and clear
to the listening audience. “Hometowns” is another fantastic piece that
features aural guitar riffs that aim to capture the listener and entrance them with their uncanny musical abilities that work together seamlessly and without much difficulty at all. The disc starts to draw to a close on “Lies”, a more uptempo number that picks up the veracity of the guitars to give the song more swagger and make it appeal more to the listening audience. “Close to Nowhere” is the disc’s finale that closes on a quiet scale and gives us a brief overview of everything we’ve heard so far in one mellow and terrific track. Over the last year or so, we’ve been seeing a talented and diverse group of bands from across the pond in England that have slowly started to wash up on our American musical shores, from acts like Mumford & Sons, The Kooks, and Florence + The Machine. Band of Skulls can definitely be added to the list of British bands who are doing something creatively different that hasn’t been accomplished before in quite some time.

Overall, a well executed effort from Band of Skulls, who have finally made their presence known to American listeners and are definitely a band to look out for in the next few years!

                                                                                                                      Album Score: 3.5/5
