this came out of no where. P4K drops a single of these guys that totally rules, I turn around and download their only full length record and BAM! I’m hooked. King Tuff is unedited garage punk gold. Poppy psychy and bad ass. The only King Tuff record I can find thus car Was Dead is punk song writing mastery in the vein of bands like Girls, Jay Retard, Sonny and The Sunsets and NoBunny. The songs radiate a sense of sunny bliss via a California boardwalk or a crystal blue swell on a summers day. This just blew my winter blues out the window.

HEY! this is cool! these guys release after their self titled LP was a bit of a stinker but this song rules! Way more up beat and beachy instead of lo-fi and “chillwave”. I was all more of a fan of the faster and poppier Beach Fossils stuff so this totally delivers. This just dropped today, so it’s hot!

friendo is a nice dream pop band from Calgary, i heard the drummer from Women plays with them, gotta keep up with what those music wizards are up to! The album Cold Toad sounds like a cold toad, a sweet one but probably still a cold toad. They also appeared on a rad split with Fair Oh’s/Women/Cold Pumas which I ordered and fucking love. Makeout Videotape was probably one of Vancouvers best bands. They played a show every weekend and principle song writer Mac Demarco was a musical wizard. Simple but strangely infectious melodies and rhythms. Then last year they seems to vanish, I heard somewhere that Mac moved back to Alberta or something. Anyways p4k has debuted a new track from Demarco who now goes by his full name instead of the Makeout Videotape moniker. Babys Wearing Blue Jeans is a wicked track. A bit more produced and straight forward then the Makeout stuff but also very off kilter and dreamy. Can’t wait to hear the full length! and just for ya’ll a few tracks off Makeout Videotapes last release Ying Yang.
