CHARACTERIZATION ANALYSIS OF THE MAIN CHARACTER OF “TENGGELAMNYA KAPAL VAN DER WICJK” MOVIE BY BUYA HAMKA

Abstract

Literary work, especially film, gives life a lot of inspiration. Movie makes the reader aware that the story that happens in a movie is a reflection of a real life. This study deals with the characterization of Zainuddin as the main character in Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wicjk Movie and it was aimed to knowing the characteristics of Zainuddin in the movie. It was conducted by applying descriptive qualitative method. The source of the data was taken from Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wicjk movie and the data were which showed actions and dramatic statements from Zainuddin and other characters in the movie. This research method is in the form of qualitative descriptive using character analysis techniques. Data obtained from data sources in the form of dialogue and narration. The results of the study show that perspectives and backgrounds are very important influence someone in interpreting social reality..

INTRODUCTION

Literature is an art in the formed cast or language. The word ‘literature’ is derived from the word littera in Latin which means letter. McFadden (1978:56) “I should say, then, that literature is a canon which consists of those works in language by which a community defines itself through the course of its history. It includes works primarily artistic and also those whose aesthetic qualities are only secondary. The self-defining activity of the community is conducted in the light of the works, as its members have come to read them (or concretize them)”.

A character is a person, animal, being, creature, or thing in a story. Writers use characters to perform the actions and speak dialogue, moving the story along a plot line. Kamisa, (1997: 281) reveals that the character is a psychiatric traits, morals or character that distinguish one person from another, character, character. Character means to have character, has a personality.

Gulo W, (1982: 29) notes that the character is a personality in terms of ethical or moral standpoint, for example a person's honesty, usually having to do with the properties that are relatively fixed.

Kamisa, (1997: 281) reveals that the character is a psychiatric traits, morals or character that distinguish one person from another, character, character. Character means to have character, has a personality.

According to (DG Mandikdasmen - Ministry of National Education) The character is a way of thinking and behaving that characterizes each individual to live and work, both within the family, community, nation and state. Individuals of good character is an individual who can make decisions and be ready to account for any consequences of decisions he made.

Hamka's novel, Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wick, is one of them interesting work to study. Because of the novel, the author is trying to exploring his life story full of dreams and beliefs such a great desire to make what you dream of come true. This novel depicts a pure love story of a young couple, which is based on sincerity and the sanctity of the soul that deserves to be used as a simile. The story line is behind with customary regulations that are a strong legacy to the leaders of their people face the psychology, in a country that is tribal and institutionalized, with people brothers and sisters and berninik mamak, this value is defined in the description above if a literary work there is a value factor that influences thinking someone, maybe someone after reading this novel gain certain experiences so that the values obtained are used as a guide in his life.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

The study was conducted by applied descriptive design with a qualitative method. Shank (2002) defines qualitative research as “a form of systematic empirical inquiry into meaning”. By systematic he means “planned, ordered and public”, following rules agreed upon by members of the qualitative research community. By empirical, he means that this type of inquiry is grounded in the world of experience. Inquiry into meaning says researchers try to understand how others make sense of their experience. Denzin and Lincoln (2000) claim that qualitative research involves an interpretive and naturalistic approach: “This means that qualitative researchers study things in their natural settings, attempting to make sense of, or to interpret, phenomena in terms of the meanings people bring to them”.

In line with this description, the descriptive qualitative in this study was intended to understand the characters of Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wick movie, which is Zainuddin. The source of data and the data were sentences or clauses for the study were taken from the movie script of Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wick movie. The data of this study were collected by using the documentary technique study . The researcher must download the Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wick movie and movie script,and then the researcher wrote and directed to the findings of the main characterization in Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wick.

The meaning of characterization is larger than character because characterization includes the problem of who is the character of the movie, how is the character of him or her, so that it can give a description that is clear to the audience.Roberts and Jacobs (1995:135) state there are 5 methods of characterization, they are:

1. Actions

What character do is our best way to understand what they are. For example, the character that always helps others and goes to mosque or church, it means that character is a good man. But if the character is always stealing and never cares about others, it means that character is a bad person.

As with ordinary human beings, fictional characters did not necessarily understand how they may be changed or why they do the things they did, Nevertheless, their actions expressed their characters. Actions may also signal qualities such as naivete, weakness, deceit, a scheming personality, strong inner conflicts, or a realization or growth of some sort.

2. Description, both personal and environmental

Although in our life it is usually tricked by the appearance of someone. But in literary work, and apparently has an important part that connects with the characterization study.

3. Dramatic statements and thoughts

It is known that the characterization of a character can be noticed by analyzing the conversations or utterances of others by the main character or minor character. Although the speeches of most characters are functional essential to keep the story moving along it provides material from which it can draw a conclusion

4. Statements by other Characters

By studying what characters said about each other, the understanding of the character can be enhanced, and ironically discussed characters doing the talking often indicate something other than what they intend, perhaps because of prejudice, stupidity, or foolishness.

5. Statements by the researcher speaking as story teller or Observer

According to the author, a character should be accurate and authorial utterance that can be accepted factually. However, when the author interprets action and characteristics. The author assumes the role of the reader or critic, and any opinion may be questioned. For this reason, the author frequently avoids interpretations and is free to make their own conclusions.

DISCUSSIONS

This part describes the findings in depth and examines the the film itself. The researcher refers to the main character, Zainuddin. Tells about the love story of two people, but separated by traditional traditions. The true love story of Zainuddin and Hayati that is timeless. Zainuddin's love for Hayati is hindered by heredity and poverty. Zainuddin loves Hayati who is of Minangkabau noble descent. Zainuddin, who is of mixed Minang and Bugis descent, is not recognized as a genuine Minang, because his mother is of Bugis ethnicity. Their love was hindered and Hayati married Aziz, a rich native Minang. The storyline is interesting so that it makes the reader feel as if he has entered the story. In addition, the mandate contained in it is well conveyed.

1. Characteristic of Personality of Main Character in Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wick.

There are some data that consisted characteristic of Personality

1.1 Patient

Zainuddin is considered to have no tribe, the child of an outcast and is not seen as legitimate in Minangkabau tradition. Zainuddin received many insults, but he remained strong in facing the level behavior of the local people.

(1) . Zainuddin : “ Tak mengapa Hajati, engku rela pergi demi kebaikkan Hajati dan keluarga. “

(2) Zainudin : “Tolong cari tahu tentang Aziz, tolong selidiki asal usulnya. Jika memang dia pantas untuk Hayati saya akan ikhlas tapi bila tidak sungguh malang nasib kekasihku itu.”

(3) Zainuddin : “ Tak apo mak, mungkin ini sudah jadi takdir awak. Doakan sajo awak berhasil di Padang Panjang. “

1.2 Simple

Living in a poor family and living in the countryside, Zainuddin gets used to living simply.

(1) Zainudin : “Saya akan membawa warisan itu tetapi tidak semua, mak lipat gandakan saja uang sisanya untuk bekal saya dan mak disini, saya hanya akan meminta 15 atau 20 Rp saja setiap bulannya.”

1.3 Full Of Love

Zainuddin fell in love with Hayadi in Minangkabau land who forbade him to continue his love. After he left the island, he still thinks of Hayati and helps her in difficult times even though her love cannot be expressed because Hayati is already married to someone else

(1) Zainudin : “Apa kau kurang yakin dengan cintaku pada mu ini Hayati ?”

(2) Zainudin : “Amat berat sekali sumpahmu itu, Hayati. Baiklah Hayati aku pegang sumpah mu itu. Aku akan berangkat dengan harapan yang penuh. Kirimi saya surat-surat, agar saya selalu mengingatmu.

(3) Zainudin : “Aku akan tetap mencintaimu.)

(4) Zainuddin : “ Hajati, sebelum pergi engku ingin menyatakan sesuatu kepada Hajati. Sejak pertemuan itu engku merasa jatuh hati kepada Hajati namun sayang cinta engku tak bertuan. “

1.4 Hard Work

Even though he is a village boy who works with village people, Zainuddin has a talent for writing poetry. After his best friend helped him to publish his work, he became a famous writer.

(1) Zainuddin : “ Muluk semoga nasib kito bisa jadi lebih baik di Batavia. ”

(2) Zainuddin : “ Indak Muluk, nasib kito akan berubah setelah sampai di Surabaya. ”

1.5 Loyal

Among artists, Zainuddin is a rich man who is generous. Even when Hayati asked for help when her husband was in trouble, Zainuddin still helped him even though Hayati had hurt his heat.

(1) Zainuddin : “ Alhamdulillah, Muluk jangan ang lupo 10% penghasilan awak ang sumbangkan ka panti asuhan. ”

(2) Zainudin : “Itu bukan jasa, itu hanya kewajiban seorang sahabat kepada sahabatnya. Apalagi kita hidup dirantau pula, kewajiban kita untuk menolong satu sama lain.”

The characterization method above is the action method. Of the five characterization methods, both personal and environmental descriptions, dramatic statements and thoughts, statements of other characters, and statements of writers who speak as storytellers or observers. The focus of this study is to analyze the personality characteristics of the main character. This film researcher did not take part in presenting other characters in this film.

CONCLUSIONS

Based on the results of this study the discussion on the article entitled " CHARACTERIZATION ANALYSIS OF THE MAIN CHARACTER OF “TENGGELAMNYA KAPAL VAN DER WICJK” MOVIE BY BUYA HAMKA”, several conclusions can be drawn. Literary work is a picture of a moving community entity, both related to patterns, structures, functions and activities and socio-cultural conditions as the background of people's lives when literary works are created.

Based on the findings and discussion, Zainuddin as the main character in this film is represented as someone who has a strong stance. There are five personality characteristics found in this film, there are Patient, Simple, Full Of Love, Hard Work and Loyal.

SUGGESTIONS

The conclusion there are some suggestion for The students who are interested in learning the characterization methods should know about the principles of the methods themselves in order to enrich their knowledge when learning about it. In analyzing literary works, it is suggested that students understand and deepen these literary works. Students must also learn several characterization methods to develop research.

Comparative Literature of the 1940 Pinocchio Film and the 2022 Pinocchio Film

Pinocchio is a 1940 American animated musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Productions.

The plot involves an old Italian woodcarver named Geppetto who carves a wooden puppet named Pinocchio and wishes that he might be a real boy. The puppet is brought to life by a blue fairy, who informs him that he can become a real boy if he proves himself to be "brave, truthful, and unselfish". The key character of Jiminy Cricket, who takes the role of Pinocchio's conscience, attempts to guide Pinocchio in matters of right and wrong. Pinocchio's efforts to become a real boy involve encounters with a host of unsavory characters, representing the temptations and consequences of wrongdoing.

Summary

Geppetto has just made a little wooden pupet called Pinocchio, which he really likes ("Little Wooden Doll"). Before going to sleep, Geppetto wished to the night star that Pinocchio would be a real boy and live. While Geppetto is sleeping, the Blue Fairy arrives and grants him several wishes; Pinocchio comes back to life, but he is still a puppet and must make sure he is worthy before becoming a real boy. However, being naive, she needs a tutorial, and the Blue Fairy designates Jiminy Cricket as her "conscience". The cricket tells Pinocchio whenever he needs Jiminy.

The next morning, Geppetto took his son to school. But Jiminy Cricket is still asleep! Pinocchio, alone and full of good intentions, goes to school, but is distracted by the sly fox John Worthington Foulfellow and his dimwitted accomplice, Gideon the cat. Realizing his uniqueness, the well-spoken criminal decides to sell Pinocchio to the master marionette Stromboli, whose roadshow is in town. Pinocchio becomes successful as part of the Stromboli show, dancing alongside common puppets in a European-themed musical extravaganza.

Pinocchio tries to return to Geppetto. Stromboli, not wanting to lose the cash cow, locks the doll in the birdcage. Suddenly, the Blue Fairy appeared. Unwilling to admit that he has been naughty, Pinocchio tells a series of lies, but with each lie, his nose grows longer. The Blue Fairy forgives him and lets him out of the cage, but warns him that he will never become human if he continues to misbehave. And the fairy returned his nose to its original size.

Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket escape from Stromboli and head for home. But it isn't long before the two go their separate ways, and once again Pinocchio runs into Honest John and Gideon, who have been hired by a dubious coachman to round up boys to take to the anarchic Pleasure Island amusement park. Pinocchio starts turning into a donkey, growing ears and a long tail, but before the transformation is complete, he manages to escape from the scary amusement park, and returns home. To his dismay, his father wasn't there.

A dove arrives with a note from the Blue Fairy explaining that Geppetto has gone to sea to search for his lost son and has been swallowed by the whale Monstro. Determined to save his father, Pinocchio and his reluctant conscience journey to the bottom of the sea. They find Geppetto in the belly of the whale, and escape by setting a fire in the belly of the sea monster, who sneezes them right out. In revenge, Monstro destroys Geppetto's raft. Without regard for his own safety, Pinocchio saves Geppetto from drowning but at the cost of his own life. Geppetto's wish is finally granted. Pinocchio's sacrifice has proved to the Blue Fairy that he is worthy, and he is brought back to life not as a puppet but as a real live boy.

Pinocchio is a 2022 American musical fantasy film directed by Robert Zemeckis from a screenplay by Zemeckis and Chris Weitz. Produced by Walt Disney Pictures, Depth of Field and ImageMovers, the film is a live-action remake of Walt Disney's 1940 animated film of the same name, which is itself based on the 1883 Italian book The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi. It stars Tom Hanks, Cynthia Erivo, Giuseppe Battiston and Luke Evans with Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Keegan-Michael Key, and Lorraine Bracco in voice roles. The story follows a wooden puppet named Pinocchio (Evan Ainsworth), who is brought to life by a blue fairy (Erivo) after being crafted by an old Italian woodcarver named Geppetto (Hanks). While the role of Pinocchio's conscience Jiminy Cricket (Gordon-Levitt) attempts to guide Pinocchio in matters of right and wrong, Pinocchio encounters a host of unsavory characters in his efforts to become a real boy.

Summary

The film begins in a small village in Italy, Jiminy Cricket enters the house of the old woodcarver Geppetto, he has completed work on a marionette doll which he names Pinocchio. Before going to bed, Geppetto made a wish to a star.

Hours later, the star miraculously revives Pinocchio and he is soon visited by the Blue Fairy, who tells him that if he acts brave, honest, and selfless, he can become a real boy. The Blue Fairy also appoints Jiminy the responsibility of being Pinocchio's conscience to teach him right from wrong.

When Geppetto awakens to find Pinocchio alive, he is initially surprised, but becomes overjoyed. After a few days, Geppetto decided that Pinocchio should go to school and sent him there. However, Pinocchio is soon approached by the fox and cat con duo "Honest" John and Gideon when they convince him that he must live a life of fame in order to truly become a real boy, when they really want to sell him to the puppeteer Stromboli in exchange for riches.

At the Stromboli theatre, Pinocchio befriends one of Stromboli's employees, Vitelli, and his puppet Sabina. Pinocchio puts on a great show for the audience but Stromboli locks him in a birdcage to prevent him from leaving, wanting to exploit Pinocchio for all he's worth.

Pinocchio is whisked away by a coach full of children driven by a charismatic coachman, who takes boys and girls to Pleasure Island, an island where bad behavior is encouraged. When Jiminy, separated from Pinocchio again, makes it to the island, he soon learns that the boys and girls there are turned into donkeys and the Coachman is selling them to the salt mines with the help of his mist-like henchman. Pinocchio witnesses Lampwick transforming himself in the pool hall and he and Jiminy escape the island before the Coachman and his men can get to them, but not before Pinocchio gets his donkey ears and tail.

Pinocchio and Jiminy make it back to Geppetto's house but find he isn't home as Sofia gives him a Pleasure Island flyer to let him know where Pinocchio is. While trying to find Geppetto, Pinocchio is reunited with Vitelli and Sabina, who inform him that Stromboli has been arrested and they have taken over his puppet show. They offer Pinocchio to join them, but Pinocchio refuses, wanting to save his father, which makes his donkey part disappear. Sofia pulls on the ropes to keep Pinocchio out to sea, where they soon find Geppetto in his boat. When they reunited, they were swallowed up by a giant sea monster called Monstro. They take shelter in a giant boat in Monstro's stomach, and Pinocchio comes up with the idea to make him sneeze by igniting a fire inside him. The plan worked, and Monstro took them out, but he gave chase which ended with him and his group crashing into dry land and knocking Geppetto unconscious.

Pinocchio thought Geppetto had died, and was distraught before Geppetto came and quickly told Pinocchio that despite being a puppet, he had proved himself to be a real boy for all he had done and they left for home. Jiminy then breaks the fourth wall before the film ends

Comperative Between The Two Films

This Walt Disney fantasy film tells the story of a woodcarver and a living wooden doll. The first film that was published around the second world war in 1940 was quite famous as a popular children's animated film. In 2022, the latest version of the Pinocchio film has been released with a more sophisticated animation appearance. The latest version is also not as interesting as the first version.

Apart from differences in the quality of animation and video, the roles and characters also have different behaviors. For example, in the character of Pinocchio, the Blue Fairy creates Pinocchio with conditions. He must be a boy who is brave, honest and selfless. The Blue Fairy also gave Pinocchio a curse, namely if Pinocchio lied, his nose would grow long. In the animated version, Pinocchio lies several times until his nose continues to grow. However, in the live action version, Pinocchio never lies. He only ever deliberately lied to make his nose long and reach a key so he could be free from a cage.

Another difference is when . In the live action, Geppetto and Pinocchio are eaten by Monstron, while Geppetto is sailing the ocean to find his wooden child. This story is quite different from the original version, where Geppetto is eaten by Monstro before meeting Pinocchio. As well as whale sightings, an original Monstro story known as the great whale that rules the seas. He swallowed Geppetto, just like in the story of Prophet Jonah as. However, it is different from the live action version where Monstro is depicted as a sea monster who often disguises himself as an island. Monstro's appearance doesn't look like an ordinary whale, but like a monster in a fantasy story.

Both of these films also have different endings. In the original version, Pinocchio managed to prove that he was a boy who was brave, honest and selfless. Because of this, the Blue Fairy granted Pinocchio's dream of becoming a real boy. Meanwhile, the live action version does not show this scene. The ending of the film where Pinocchio turns into a human is left to the imagination of each audience.

Abstrack

Poetry, literature that evokes a concentrated imaginative awareness of experience or a specific emotional response through language chosen and arranged for its meaning, sound, and rhythm. It's a vast subject, as old as history and older, present wherever religion is present, possibly under some definitions the primal and primary form of languages themselves.

Poetry is the other way of using language. Perhaps in some hypothetical beginning of things it was the only way of using language or simply was language tout court, prose being the derivative and younger rival. Both poetry and language are fashionably thought to have belonged to ritual in early agricultural societies and poetry in particular it has been claimed arose at first in the form of magical spells recited to ensure a good harvest.

Introduction

Midnight's Children is a 1981 book by Salman Rushdie that deals with India's transition from British colonialism to independence and the partition of British India. It is considered an example of past colonial literature and magical realism. The story is told by its chief protagonist, Saleem Sinai, and is set in the context of actual historical events as with historical fiction. Midnight's Children won both the Booker Prize and the James Tait Black Memorial Prize in 1981.It was awarded the "Booker of Bookers" Prize and the best all-time prize winners in and 2008 to celebrate the Booker Prize 25th and 40th anniversary. In 2003, the novel was listed on the BBC's survey "The Big Read". It was also added to the list of Great Books of the 20th Century, published by Penguin Books.

Discussion

The character of this novel is Saleem Sinai, he was born in Mumbai to a Muslim family from Kashmir. Saleem Sinai is the protagonist and narrator of Midnight's Children. He is born, along with one other child, at the exact moment of India's independence, 15 August 1947. His identity, however, is switched at birth. As a result, he is raised by a prosperous family in Bombay, while his counterpart and future rival, Shiva, is raised in poverty. Saleem has the powers of telepathy and a preternaturally acute sense of smell, which allow him to find the other children of midnight and create the Midnight's Children's Conference.

A. Plot summary

Midnight's Children is a loose allegory for events in India both before and, primarily, after the independence and partition of India. The protagonist and narrator of the story is Saleem Sinai, born at the exact moment when India became an independent country. He was born with telepathic powers, as well as an enormous and constantly dripping nose with an extremely sensitive sense of smell. The novel is divided into three books.

The first book begins with the story of the Sinai family, particularly with events leading up to India's independence and partition. Saleem is born precisely at midnight, 15 August 1947, therefore, exactly as old as independent India. He later discovers that all children born in India between 12 a.m. and 1 a.m. on that date are imbued with special powers. Saleem, using his telepathic powers, assembles a Midnight Children's Conference, reflective of the issues India faced in its early statehood concerning the cultural, linguistic, religious, and political differences faced by a vastly diverse nation. Saleem acts as a telepathic conduit, bringing hundreds of geographically disparate children into contact while also attempting to discover the meaning of their gifts. In particular, those children born closest to the stroke of midnight wield more powerful gifts than the others. Shiva "of the Knees", Saleem's nemesis, and Parvati, called "Parvati-the-witch," are two of these children with notable gifts and roles in Saleem's story.

Meanwhile, Saleem's family begin a number of migrations and endure the numerous wars which plague the subcontinent. During this period he also suffers amnesia until he enters a quasi-mythological exile in the jungle of Sundarban, where he is re-endowed with his memory. In doing so, he reconnects with his childhood friends. Saleem later becomes involved with the India Gandi proclaimed Emergency and her son Sanjay’s “Cleansing” of the Jama Masjid Slum.. For a time Saleem is held as a political prisoner; these passages contain scathing criticisms of Indira Gandhi's over-reach during the Emergency as well as a personal lust for power bordering on godhood. The Emergency signals the end of the potency of the Midnight Children, and there is little left for Saleem to do but pick up the few pieces of his life he may still find and write the chronicle that encompasses both his personal history and that of his still-young nation, a chronicle written for his son, who, like his father, is both chained and supernaturally endowed by history.

B. Main Characters

◦ Saleem Sinai

The narrator and protagonist of the novel. Born at the moment of India’s independence and blessed with the powers of telepathy and an uncanny sense of smell, Saleem tells his extraordinary life story as his body begins to crumble, an account that significantly parallels the history of postcolonial India. As a narrator, Saleem can be both unreliable and self-centered at times.

• Aadam Aziz

Saleem’s grandfather. Aadam is the patriarch of the family, a doctor and skeptic whose loss of faith leaves what he refers to as a “hole” inside of him. Aadam falls in love with his wife, Naseem, after only being allowed to see her through a hole in a perforated sheet.

• Ahmed Sinai

Saleem’s father. A shrewd businessman who is nonetheless destined for failure, Ahmed spends much of his marriage fighting his wife and his alcohol addiction.

• Mumtaz (Amina Sinai)

Saleem’s mother, and the daughter of Aadam Aziz. Born Mumtaz, she changes her name to Amina after her marriage to Ahmed. Despite her fantastic powers, she is unable to make Saleem fall in love with her and, as a result, embarks on an affair with Shiva that results in a child. In the Hindu religion, Parvati is the consort of Shiva.

C. Conclusion

In the historical fiction novel Midnight's Children, the portrayal of the idea that in order to have a collective society one must not only think for themselves but for the greater whole is presented. The use of setting, character, and conflict help present this theme. Midnight's Children takes place in post colonial poverty stricken India which sets up the plot for the story. In the story, a boy named Saleem Sinai is born on midnight on August 15, 1947 along with many other children who are all later known as Midnight's Children. These Midnight's Children have all been granted some form of supernatural powers; in which the strength of their abilities depend on we how close they were born to midnight. Saleem is granted with the power of telepathy and uses this power to bring fellow midnights children together. As the novel progresses, we find out that Saleem was switched at birth with another Midnight's Children named Shiva. Shiva who represents destruction is the complete opposite of Saleem who represents creation. The opposition between the two is the driving force of conflict in the novel. The journey of Saleem through the novel is one that is truly captivating, as he travels throughout India to endure the plague of war that is arriving not only by himself, but with all of the Midnight's Children.

Analysis

Death of a Salesman is a 1949 stage play written by American playwright Arthur Miller. This is a two-act tragedy set in 1940s New York. Death of a Salesman uses flashbacks to bring Willy's memories back to reality. The illusion not only "shows the past, but also presents a lost pastoral life." Willy has dreamed of success all his life and made up lies about his and Biff's success.

The "Death of a Salesman" begins in the evening. Willy Loman, a salesman in his sixties, returns home from a failed business trip. He explained to his wife, Linda, that he was too distracted to push and therefore headed home in defeat. While working as an assistant shopper in a retail store, he dreams of bigger things. Biff was once a high school football star, but he was never able to embrace Willy's concept of success. So he just drifted from one manual labor force to the next. Downstairs, Willy spoke to himself. He is hallucinating, he visualizes happier times than his past. During one of his memories, he recalls meeting his long lost older brother, Ben. An adventurous businessman, Ben stated: "When I go into the woods, I'm seventeen. When I walk out I'm twenty-one. And by God, I'm rich..." Needless to say, Willy was jealous of his brother's accomplishments. Later, when Biff confronts his mother about Willy's unstable behavior, Linda explains that Willy had been secretly (and possibly unknowingly) attempting suicide. Act One ends with the brothers comforting their father by promising to meet the "big guy" businessman Bill Oliver. They plan to pitch a marketing idea - a concept that fills Willy with hope for the future.

Willy Loman asked his boss, 36-year-old Howard Wagner, for $40 a week. Willy says trouble for his neighbor and friendly rival, Charley. Out of sympathy, he offers Willy a job, but the salesman turns Charley down. Despite this, he still "borrows" money from Charley - and has been doing so for some time. Meanwhile, Happy and Biff meet at a restaurant, waiting to treat their father to steak dinner. Unfortunately, Biff has bad news. Not only did she fail to meet Bill Oliver, but Biff swiped the man's pen. Apparently, Biff had become a kleptomaniac as a form of rebellion against the cold, corporate world. Willy didn't want to hear Biff's bad news. his memory flashed back to a tumultuous day: When Biff was a teenager, he discovered that his father was having an affair. Since that day, there has been a rift between father and son. Willy wants to find a way for his son to stop hating him. (And he had considered killing himself just so Biff could do something big with insurance money.) At home, Biff and Willy were screaming, pushing, and arguing. Finally, Biff burst into tears and kissed his father. Willy is deeply touched, realizing that his son still loves him. However, after everyone goes to bed, Willy speeds away in the family car. the playwright explained that "the music crashes down in a cacophony of sound" symbolizing Willy's successful car crash and suicide.

Abstract

The development of the current digital era, inevitably changes many aspects of our lives to be completely digital. Included in the world of literature with the development of the spread of literary works called digital literature. Only with a smartphone, we can easily access the internet. We can see how mushrooming Instagram poet accounts are today. With a piece of two simple sentences packaged in an attractive visual display, this hit poetry post is ready to represent the feelings of its readers. Some poets even embed photos that add to the aesthetic impression of their posts. Usually the uploaded literary works use certain hashtags or hashtags related to the post.

Users of Instagram social media accounts also come from various generations. Regardless of age, education, or profession, all are free to type flashes of meaningful words. It even provides space for users to get to know inter-cultures with various regions around the world. This makes digital literature expand widely and cover many aspects of various cultures in various countries.

A poetry account is certainly different from a citation account, which uses the work of others to include references. The poet's Instagram account packs words that usually have a certain theme with a typical illustration template that characterizes the account in question. They usually use simple language that is used in everyday life.

Introduction

Literary works are known as cultural products that have passed through every era of human development, from the oral era (when stories and myths were passed on by word of mouth), the era of writing, the print tradition, and now in the information age based on digital technology. Technological advances in this digital era are very rapid, making it easier to disseminate information throughout the world, including Indonesia via the internet. Today the internet is not a foreign thing to our ears. Even the majority, make the internet a necessity that cannot be abandoned. In addition to the development of increasingly rapid and sophisticated technology, the world of literature is also experiencing development and moving into the modern realm as well.

So that literature adapts to and is affected by the internet. This can be seen from the emergence of new terms, such as cyber literature which is increasingly popular with the development of the times. Cyber literature can be said as literature written using internet media or other information technology. Cyber literature is used as a vehicle for creativity in the field of literature that can be done by anyone.

Then since when did this cyber literature appear? And how is the quality of works in cyber literature? Literature becomes common property, without a "monopoly" of writers, literary experts, or famous writers. Anyone can write poetry, fiction and other forms of literature on the internet. Apart from being an individual activity, these cyber literature activists also form a community to be able to appreciate each other, whether on sites, blogs, or social media such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and others. This paper wants to present the history of the development of cyber literature, the quality and advantages of cyber literature itself.

Cyber Literature

Cyber literature can be defined as literature that includes various genres of works which are then conveyed through electronic media. Usually in the form of literary works of poetry or prose genre. Advances in internet technology allow the emergence of literary variants based on the medium, which is known as cyber literature. Cyber literature has also emerged since the existence of information technology that is able to become a forum for new findings. Cyber literature provides a new style in facilitating creative writers. Advances in cyber literature allow computer and device users to use internet media freely and without limitation.

The presence of cyber literature in Indonesia can indeed be said to be growing rapidly, this is influenced by the development of technology, especially on social media which is now starting to be widely used.

The development of cyber literature or cyber literature raises polemics among literary connoisseurs. A polemic that questions the definition of literature itself. Some say that cyber literature is something that is outside the normative about literature itself. On the other hand, cyber literature has become a new thing as a result of the demands of the times, especially technological developments. The emergence of polemics over cyber literature is actually more based on the conservative view that literature is a masterpiece. Literature is a work that has a special content that is not arbitrary and is made with mere perfunctory intentions.

It is no exaggeration to say that today is a new era, because printed literature is experiencing its twilight. An era in which digital literature must be accepted by our authors as an undeniable reality.

One of the most popular social media is Instagram. Let's agree that more and more people prefer to do everything directly from the touch of their finger, rather than from a desktop or computer screen, even than a tablet. We are a society of mobile phone users now. Instagram is a very easy app to use. Its simple interface makes Instagram easy for new users to intuitively understand, no matter what their age. You don't have to be a genius to navigate through all the features Instagram has to offer. Instagram is also always developing and producing new features such as photo filters, slideshows, ig stories, or Instagram TV. And Instagram is an application designed specifically for our cellphones. Instagram suppresses the use of photos as the center of the post.

Poets tend to reflect new attitudes, informal expressions in dealing with much of the literature. You see literature as more relaxed, more intimate, and less distant. Even literature is a continuation of the world of chatter, so this is a second verbal activity. Many make quotes about the life around them. Mungkin nanti saya akan membaca novel karangan TereLiye lagi. Saya beerharap TereLiye dapat mencetak novel-novel yang mempesona lagi.

Bab 48

Jangan merusak diri sendiri. Selalu pahami, cinta yang baik selalu mengajari kau untuk menjaga diri. Tidak melanggar batas, tidak melewati kaidah agama. Karena esok lusa, ada orang yang mengaku cinta, tapi dia melakukan begitu banyak maksiat, menginjak-injak semua peraturan dalam agama, menodai cinta itu sendiri. Cinta itu ibarat bibit tanaman. Jika dia tumbuh di tanah yang subur, disirami pupuk pemahaman baik, dirawat dengan menjaga diri, maka tumbuhlah dia menjadi pohon yang berbuah lebat dan manis. Tapi jika bibit itu tumbuh di tanah yang kering, disiram dengan racun maksiat, dirawat dengan niat buruk, maka tumbuhlah dia menjadi tanaman yang merangas, berduri dan berbuah pahit.
