Your website is not only an extension of your business, it is an invaluable tool that can skyrocket your profits and revenues. However, having an attractive looking website is not enough to get the desired outcome. Internet marketing tactics are essential to gain huge success from the online side of your business. This has even greater importance for new websites that lack prior online exposure.

In order to be found by your target market, websites need to make use of various internet marketing techniques. The type and scale of techniques used can depend on your business, budget and your other marketing efforts.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is one part of Internet Marketing, and helps to make your products or services get noticed online. The main search engines targeted through SEO are Google, Yahoo, MSN and AOL.

The World Wide Web is changing every second of every day, therefore it is easy to understand that the criterea for SEO and its algorithms keep on changing with it. That’s why when undergoing SEO for your website, it is important to consider getting professional help. This will reduce the chance of committing any SEO related errors, which in some cases even lead to the removal of your website from the search engine indexes.

Paid search, also known as Pay Per Click or PPC, is another form of Internet Marketing. Google Adwords and Yahoo! Search Marketing are by far the top two players in this market. Pay Per Click advertising allows you to target any keywords you like, and you can even choose how much you want to pay per click. Your advertisement will appear either above or alongside the “organic” search engine results.

When compared to typical marketing, internet marketing has huge advantages. Large numbers of highly targeted prospects can reach your website at the click of a mouse. Please contact us if you would like to learn more about starting up or improving your internet marketing campaign.

Visitors generally don’t come to your website to see the snazzy design. Informative content is a prerequisite of every business website. You may have heard the phrase “Content is King”, but what makes it true?

Simply, content is what makes a website useful and the words written on your website may mean the difference between the success or failure of your website. If your content fails to attract your visitors, just imagine how many potential customers you might be losing each day.

Impressing your visitors is one thing, but you also want to impress the search engines to ensure you obtain a high ranking in the search results. Content is one of the major things that search engines look at when determining your position in the search results.

Writing effective content is not hard. In fact, it’s very easy as long as you follow some basic rules:

1. Avoid grammatical and spelling mistakes
Here’s an example. Let’s say you have a jewellery business and your website design is absolutely stunning. The layout is perfect and you couldn’t be happier with your site. When a visitor logs on to your site they immediately see the title which reads “Cheep Jewellery”. What would be the reaction of the visitor? Most likely he or she would laugh at you and then immediately click the back button.

That is exactly how many businesses are losing customers. It is important to be careful and check that your spelling and grammar is correct. Use a spell checker and take care when using punctuation. Don’t let people laugh at you!

2. Make sure your content is concise, clear and easy to read
Most people don’t like to read a lot of text, but they do like to read well written content that is concise and to the point.

Your content should be clear; that means no repetitions and no unnecessary text. Separating your content into paragraphs will make it much easier to read than if you write from the beginning to the end of the page. Paragraphs should be short containing around three or four sentences.

3. Take care of the interest of your visitors
Why do you place content on your website? Obviously, for the visitors. Always keep in mind what your visitors expect from you. They are on your website to gain information and your goal is to fulfill their requirements. Make sure your content is answering the questions that your visitors are likely to be asking. This will help them to believe in you and your business, and ultimately help them to become your customer.

4. Avoid using multiple question marks and exclamation marks
Many people think that multiple question marks or exclamation marks after a sentence will increase the curiosity of the reader. However, the opposite is actually true. It will seem odd and overly dramatic, and certainly will not look professional. The saying, “Less is more” rings true in the case of question marks and exclamation marks. One will suffice for almost any occasion, so try to keep this in mind when writing your content.

5. Editing is more important than writing
Once you have written your content, edit your content. Then edit it again, and keep editing until it becomes perfect. If there are any mistakes in your content, correct them before thousands of other people point them out. Check the content yourself for spelling and consistency in grammar and punctuations. Then have your content proofread. Only after you are sure that it contains no errors, should your content be displayed on your website.

A great website design is essential if you are planning to optimise your site for the search engines – and why wouldn’t you?

The design should be created with an aim to suit both search engines and your users.

Some of the things that you need to keep in mind are:

It is important to maintain a consistent theme for your website. This will play an important role in how effectively your search engine rankings will develop. A properly designed website theme will also reinforce the user’s understanding of your brand and what your company is offering.

A good website design should provide strategic navigation that does not allow your visitors to get lost within deeper pages, creating confused visitors and abandoned shopping carts.

Our web design business creates websites with navigation that is both search engine and user friendly. We focus on creating a clearly defined hierarchical layout that enables the average user to navigate easily throughout your site.

The bursting of the dot-com bubble back in 2001 marked a turning point for the web. And now, the new era of “Web 2.0″ (pronounced “Web two-point-oh”) introduces a new platform for a website to not only sell products, but a platform for users to interact, and the freedom for users to create and share information.

The average website is no longer just a static space for users to come and go, but a portal that provides all kinds of services and interaction for the users. Web 2.0 is a new class of web design and development - a second generation of web-based communities and services which aim to facilitate creativity, collaboration, and sharing between users. And the “Users” are the primary focus of Web 2.0 development. The website will provide more ways for the users to interact, and also transfer the privilege of website content creation to them. Wikis, blogs, and social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, are some typical examples of Web 2.0 design.

Because Web 2.0 values interaction between the users, many websites with a Web 2.0 design pattern grow rapidly and draw a huge amount of traffic from the web.
