The final season of JTT for the year will begin about May 1 and end with the State Championship in Sumter (Intermediate and Advanced Divisions) the weekend of July 17. Registration opens on April 25 and closes on May 25. Your coach has the team number necessary for registration. Additionally, USTA membership at a special rate of $19 is required. Practices are generally mid-week with matches both mid-week but mostly weekends.

Divisions:

-12 and Under Intermediate and Beginner

-14 and Under Intermediate and Beginner

-18 and Under Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced

A 10 and Under Division or younger will be created if a need arises. JTT can begin using the Quick Start format as young as age 6.

New this year is the creation of the 18 Under Beginner Division designed for the Advanced Beginner perhaps high school junior varsity or below. Also, in order to provide a showcase for the area’s top talent, an 18 Under Advanced team will form. If only one “all-star” type team arises, they will play, but not affect, the 18 Under Intermediate and automatically advance to States. It should be noted that you may dual roster but should both of your teams’ advance you will have to choose which one to represent.

JTT features (not for Quick Start format) co-ed teams playing; Boys and Girls Singles, Boys and Girls Double plus Mixed Doubles, 8 game pro-sets with total games accumulating throughout the season to determine a champion. A $50 team fee (paid on- line) plus a uniform fee generally provides for several practices and matches, refreshments and balls. No player need be present for all matches/practices.

It is a perfect way to keep in play shape throughout entire year. Our area boasts of great competition fostered by the highest qualified coach staff most of which are certified professionals. Venues include; Bluffton High, Beaufort High, Hilton Head Middle, SCYC, Wexford, Chaplin Park, Hampton Hall and others. We will place players on existing team if needed or form new ones.

Bluffton Today Open Tennis Tournament Dates Announced

Tournament Founder Robert Brown has announced this year’s 4th Annual Bluffton Open Tennis Tournament dates as May 15-17. Bluffton’s only tournament has grown each year and has netted almost $20,000 earmarked towards building needed public courts for the Bluffton area and to assist underprivileged aspiring Bluffton tennis youth. New this year is the addition of a 4.0 level Men’s, Women’s and Mixed Division to compliment the 2.5, 3.0, and 3.5 divisions. Known for being a “family friendly” event, Dinner on the Grounds, Silent Auction, a raffle and the special Adult/Child tournament is schedule to be among the weekend’s highlights. Brown said, “Keeping family fun and youth participation in mind, Saturday night’s Adult – Child event grows each year!” “Adults and kids, related or not, are broken into flights by ability and compete in mini-round robins for a lot of fun”. All proceeds from this, event within an event, go directly to the Bluffton Junior Benevolence Fund. Brown added, “ A new, subtle, and exciting change this year is the idea of adding a Novice division to the junior event. Now kids of all skill levels can compete, often for the very first time”. “Little things like this plus the best trophies, prizes, and people make this a special weekend in Bluffton”.
