(BFMG) — A Dyer County grand jury has returned multiple indictments in connection with a jailhouse death and a separate overdose case, according to the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said two individuals, identified as Inman and Pevahouse, are charged with criminal conspiracy to commit premeditated first-degree murder. Inman also faces an additional charge of solicitation to commit premeditated first-degree murder.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation assisted in the case, though officials have not released further details.

The grand jury, empaneled June 1, also indicted Damaris Neal, Kamron White, Nasir Barr, Pierce Whitelow Jr., and Joseph McCaine on charges of premeditated first-degree murder in the April 16 death of 23-year-old Jaylien Kimble.

Kimble, an inmate at the Dyer County Jail, was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead at a hospital. Investigators said he suffered a traumatic head injury.

In a separate case, Roy Michael Lemons was indicted on charges of second-degree murder and sale or delivery of a Schedule II controlled substance, methamphetamine, in connection with the Jan. 30 overdose death of Katrina Olds.

The indictment follows the earlier arrest of Jeremiah Johnson, who also faces a second-degree murder charge in the same case.

The sheriff’s office said the indictments are the result of hundreds of investigative hours by its Criminal Investigation Division and reflect an ongoing effort to hold individuals accountable for violent crimes and drug-related deaths in the community.

Abrego Garcia was indicted in the Middle District of Tennessee on charges of conspiracy to transport undocumented immigrants and transporting undocumented immigrants during a November 2022 traffic stop. The case grew out of a traffic stop by Tennessee Highway Patrol and was reopened in April 2025 after the Supreme Court and a Maryland federal judge ordered the government to facilitate his return from El Salvador.

Crenshaw said the government closed the original investigation after Abrego Garcia was removed from the country, then reopened it only after court rulings in his favor. The judge said the government’s claim that the case was based on newly discovered evidence was not persuasive because much of the information had been available earlier or came from the reopened investigation itself.

The opinion also pointed to statements by then-Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, who said the government began investigating Abrego Garcia after a Maryland judge questioned the deportation decision. Crenshaw said those comments, combined with involvement by Justice Department official Aakash Singh, tied the prosecution to Abrego Garcia’s lawsuit.

Abrego Garcia’s lawyers had argued the indictment should be thrown out because it amounted to punishment for asserting his legal rights. The judge agreed, saying the presumption of vindictiveness remained unrebutted.

“The Government has failed to rebut the presumption of vindictiveness,” Crenshaw wrote.

Crenshaw said the prosecutor assigned to the case, former Acting U.S. Attorney Robert McGuire, was not operating independently because he inherited a tainted investigation and was working under close supervision from Justice Department leadership.

“Abrego’s motion to dismiss the indictment must be granted,” the judge wrote.

The ruling marks a major setback for the government in a case that has drawn national attention because of Abrego Garcia’s deportation, court-ordered return and renewed prosecution.

Alicia Andrews was found guilty in October 2024 of one count of manslaughter for her role in Jones’ death. Prosecutors said Andrews assisted her then-boyfriend and three other men in tracking and stalking Jones as he moved between nightclubs in Tampa prior to the shooting.

Jones was shot multiple times in a Tampa parking lot in 2024 after being pursued, according to investigators.

Andrews was the first of five defendants charged in the case to go to trial and the only one who did not face the death penalty.

A jury recommended life sentences for the men. Formal sentencing is scheduled for next month.

She said she lay on the outside while the infant was positioned between her and the back of the couch.
