by mat12001 (Posted Wed Nov 11, 2009 2:03 pm)
Hi all i have a 93 325 coupe automatic. for some reason went to the shops the other day and for some reason after driving it normally for 10 miles it wouldnt start in the car park turning over no problem just wouldnt catch. so after a tow home i have tried the relays which seem to operate fine checked the fuel pump fuse and now i have checked the power supply to the fuel pump (because i couldnt hear it) with a meter and with the enging cranking or not i dont get any power down there. Anyone got any ideas i am desperate now lol. the car does have a alarm and immobiliser the immobiliser looks aftermarket but seems to be working fine as the car wont turn over without activating it.

thanks in advance and if i find the answer before any postings i will place the answer for future users.

mat

Read Main Topic

by Helen (Posted Tue Nov 10, 2009 7:32 pm)
Hiya

Can anyone help? My blowers will only blow towards me, the blower on the windscreen and footwell do not work even if I have them set to blow there. Does anyone know what the problem is? I've heard it could be fuse 50 or the FSU. Any help will be appreciated.

Read Main Topic

by Javier (Posted Fri Nov 06, 2009 6:47 pm)
get some 84 LED in 4300k from khoalty (google it). They show no gaps and also they are not stupidly bright as the 60 LED models. It is as 'OEM' as one can get (if BMW put angels in E36s). Angel eyes are supposed to be position lights, so they needn't be super bright. If they aren't listed in the website ask Khoa directly. 6000k is a little bit blue and 8000k... don't do that. Just remove that panel and you'll see it right away.

Read Main Topic

by hammoudeh (Posted Thu Nov 05, 2009 10:12 pm)
Hi guys,

I am getting my 1998 4-door navy blue 318i in a couple of days and I am so excited about that! The car is standard with no tuning at all and I am happy with that too since I will get to pick the styles I like for every tuning element. I was hoping that somebody would advise and load images for similar cars with rims on that look pretty cool on this specific car and colour so to help me decide what to get. I think I should be getting 17 inch rims anyways. Your help is highlyyyy appreciated )

Read Main Topic

by ellnic (Posted Tue Nov 03, 2009 10:48 pm)
Hey all,

I have been having an issue with my E36 since I got it, it's not a major one as far as I can tell - but I wonder if anyone has any ideas. I'm wondering if its a MAF issue....

Occasionally, when cruising along at over 2K revs, power will die down and the injector light will come on for a few seconds then go out. Then power resumes as usual.

Without fail, these things solve the problem:

1. Dipping the clutch (either to change gear or simply dip and re-engage in same gear)
2. Letting the revs fall below 2K

The problem may also happen when moving off the mark at the revs reach high end black/red just before changing into second. This is probably the most annoying bit as I have to dip the clutch quickly to kick the power back in.

From a safety stand-point, this is rather irritating as merging into traffic 'could' potentially get nasty.

However, from a fixability point of view, It reeks of something simple....

Any ideas? MAF, Camshaft Sensor, Boost Pressure sensor?

Performance mods done to my car:
1. Chipped (from reputable germany autotech company that specialises in bespoke chips - not cheap crap).
2. De-cat
3. EGR deactivated by removing vacuum hose.
4. Free flow panel filter

It would be worth noting that the problem existed BEFORE any of this was done, and is so infrequent that it rarely happens.... maybe once or twice a week, at the moment even less.

I used the OBC to look at the diag data and it says this:

0113 005 E3
0208 000 E1
0302 000 E2
0420 000 E3

Are these fault codes?

Is one of them MAF?

Could it be a fuel pump?

The small sensor on the bottom of inlet manifold that looks very much like the MAF was replaced not too long ago - there is also a tube, I assume the tube is manifold absolute pressure?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Read Main Topic

by ellnic (Posted Tue Nov 03, 2009 10:32 pm)
Now here's an interesting thought.... My E36 (325tds) does this too. It's only done it since it was chipped and none of the gears slip at all, is your 316 chipped?

There is the occasional knocking noise that can also be felt through the gear stick when in neutral and moving it toward the pasenger seat.

One thought I had is that this could be exhaust pipe judder that is transferring to the change rods as they are pretty close and I did have the exhaust off recently to bash out the cat.

@ 96_323: Having said that - your comment about a 1st cog on the way out sounds worrying :/

In any case, no slipping in any gear. Car runs a beauty. Just kangaroos a bit in 1st.... this can usually be solved by getting the revs up a little before letting the clutch fully engage.... I want to say clutch - but no slipping? Confused.

Talking of MAF, my car returns these fault codes (at least I think they are fault codes, I got them from the OBC - I think one is MAF - any ideas?

0113 005 E3
0208 000 E1
0302 000 E2
0420 000 E3

Read Main Topic

by pritch21 (Posted Tue Nov 03, 2009 2:47 am)
hmm well recently i bought some m5 alloys to go on my 318 , the tyres were 235 18s and there was no way that they were going to fit.

now then back to your question.

i have a feeling that the arches on the 325 are bigger and will take the allloys. but i would like another member from the forum to back me up on this though

Read Main Topic

by bmwdonna (Posted Tue Nov 03, 2009 1:38 am)
OK, Wife keeps saying her heated seat comes on by itself. It doesn't happen all the time and the heated seat switch isn't lighting up when this happens. otherwise they work fine when turned on. I try to tell her its cause she has a hot butt

She has a 97 328 Convertible. No other issues with the car. I turn car to on position in the garage for 30 45 mins but the seat isn't getting hot by itself......has anyone ever had this happen???

Dennis

Read Main Topic

by 96_323 (Posted Sun Nov 01, 2009 8:24 pm)
What year is the auto?
Engine wise youd be talking an extra 45ish bhp.
Performance wise there wouldnt be a huge big differance in 0-60, the auto box would be a bit down compared to a manual. 60-100 it would be more evident of there been more power.
Iv not driven any e36 autos. The only upside to an auto in my opinion is when sitting in traffic, other than that the manual box wins for me!!

When checking an auto box, ask when the fluid was last changed and how often it was done. Who changed the fluid? If he says himself then ask how he done it!
Most people dont have a clue about changing fluid in an auto box, open sump, drain and refill. Thats fine and dandy at a mid interval change but its only really draining just over half the fluid in the box, theres still half the fluid sitting in the system!!!
Check when driving at roughly 35mph for any vibrations at different accelerations. Floor it and if the box hesitates then walk away. Check acceleration with full wheel lock and see if it slips out of gear or again hesitates.
That about sums it up, just dont forget to check over the rest of the car aswel!!!!

Read Main Topic
