Aside from being an online skate shop carrying a variety of skate products from most any brand out there, El Skate Shop is also a skateboarders destination site for so much more. From first looks you might be misled by its clean design and simple navigation. However, once you begin to dive into the site you realize that every product comes with a lot more than a price tag. We’re talking everything from product reviews, to how to apply grip tape and even the history behind some of your favorite labels.

Recently they have taken it upon themselves to start accepting videos from all you amateur skaters out there looking for a sponsorship. What’s even better is they’re putting them out there for the public to view while also showcasing the latest and greatest.

So take a minute to check them out.

Chunnel.tv put together a nice tribute to skateboard veteran Mark Gonzales that is absolutely worth a few minutes to check out. They have included the 09 interview that Adidas filmed interviewing Gonzales about his thoughts towards skateboarding and his long career being successful at it. Also included in the tribute are a few earlier videos from the early 90’s as well as Mark tearing it up almost 15 year later in 06.

Mark Gonzales has had one of the longest careers in skateboarding, an impressive feat to say the least. He is also responsible for introducing a unique and artistic presence into the sport as you will see in the video “West Coast”.

Thats right (men… ahem,.. dudes) now you can skate the street with a board that looks just like the poster hung above your bed when you were 15, only this time Mom cant argue with you about it.

Zazzle.com is a well built online portal that allows users to register for an account, upload their artwork and sell it on a number of different retail products. However, while they still offer lame mouse pads and coffee mugs like your local print shop they also provide the ability to sell skateboards with your own work on them. Similar to what www.cafepress.com has done for clothing, Zazzle is attempting to do for skateboards.. and uhm.. mouse pads, key chains, aprons and much more.. but most importantly skateboards.

Not only can you attempt to make a few bucks selling some boards you sketched on napkin at your local coffee shop, you can also browse from millions of custom boards uploaded from big profile names like Rob Dyrdek and OBEY to independent and local artists.

I stumbled upon some creative skateboard designs while browsing Deviant Art the other day. The series to your left is called Oxidizzy. It is offered on Zazzle across their North American Maple line of board construction. I like the repeating patterns and urban style that Oxidizzy pulls off on this set, they definitely hit a trend in the market with these illustrations. Awhile ago when there seemed to be more than 24 hours in one day I had created a few snowboard designs using both Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Considering I have not used my snowboard templates for a long time I am offering out to the public.

First impressions of the gloves were that the colors from the online picture vs. the actual gloves are a little off. All the colors are a bit darker, including the brown and green.

They are thicker than I had expected. With a nice soft and warm fleece-like interior, these gloves will definitely keep your hands warm on a cold day. However, they are also thin and waterproof meaning they will also work great for some spring riding. No more sopping wet heavy mittens with these on my hands.

They even came with a small sample of some NIKWAX waterproofing leather wax. Rock on Burton, you may not get it right ALL the time, but you sure do a hell of a job most of the time. I would recommend the Burton Staple gloves to all my friends.

Volcom Stone premiered an entire round of 90 second skate videos on their big screen at the Volcom Skate Park last Friday. The videos were put together by 14 skate shops from around the country. Check them out online now and vote for your favorite. The winning shop will be awarded a 30 second spot on Fuel TV!
