Our planned hike up Half Dome in Yosemite was coming along except for the water problem. I kept reading about how much water you need to carry on the hike or bring a filter pump and retrieve the water from the rivers.

After speaking with Mark H. at Water, Inc. about our planned hike, he told me about the new Body Glove Filter Bottle. Although our camp site in Yosemite was closed due to fires and our hike was canceled, we still managed to go to Kings Canyon/Sequoia and hike several trails there with our new Body Glove Filter Bottle. I received one of your water filter bottles from Friedmans Appliance Center in Long Beach, CA. Right before I left for Seattle for the summer, that water bottle saved my life!!! Not only did I need it in Fresno, but we ran out of water camping on the Hamma Hamma River in the Olympic National Forest in Washington State. My husband and I recently went to the island of Hawaii. Besides everyday use, the filter bottle is especially awesome to use when traveling. We filled up our filter bottle everywhere and DIDN’T BUY ONE BOTTLE OF WATER the entire trip!

The water in hotel rooms always tastes disgusting, and the bottled water they sell in the mini-bar is so overpriced! We filled up our bottle from our room’s bathroom sink and had endless, great tasting water.

We did an all-day road trip around the island, and got a kick out of finding places to refill the bottle.

I just wanted to write to you regarding the incredible experience we had using the Body Glove Filtered Water Bottles and thank you for bringing such a great product to our attention. Brad Peasley of Water, Inc. suggested these water bottles to us and they were an absolute life saver.

I am a Boy Scout leader and took a group of young boy scouts on a backpacking hike up to San Jacinto Mountain over a 3 day period. When deciding on how we would turn stream water into drinkable water we decided on the suggestion of the water bottles over using the traditional pumps used to filter water. If we made one key decision on preparing for this trip that would be the most important one.
In the weeks leading up to the hike we checked with the local ranger station up by San Jacinto Mountain to make sure that there was still plenty of water in the rivers and streams that were shown on the map. When we got to the mountain and 5 miles up the trail and into the first camp we found that the streams were completely dried up and we were out of water. Several of the scouts went out to find any source of water, regardless of the amount that we could use to drink. They packed up all the empty filter water bottles and about a mile and a half away found a very small spring/puddle with really the only water from the spring being brown, dirty water.

When the boys came back with the water, we were discouraged to see these bottles filled with nothing but brown water along with a lot of sediment picked up in the bottles from dipping them in the very small puddle. Never the less we were thirsty, dehydrated and desperate. But to our surprise the water that came out of the Body Glove Filtered Water Bottles was crystal clear and tasted great. Had we had just a pump for filtering water, getting this water to drink, back to our camp in a timely matter would have been impractical and probably impossible in the situation we were in. Because of how great these bottles worked we rerouted our hike to where we knew we could find water and use these bottles with complete confidence. The hike was a complete success. We used the water bottles exclusively for cleaning water, we didn’t have to boil water or use water tablets to clean any water, just the filter water bottles. We used them not only for drinking but for brushing teeth, washing faces and hands, washing dishes and anything else that came up.

I can say with complete confidence that because of these water bottles our trip was saved and our health was kept in perfect condition. I would recommend to any one that is going into a situation where wilderness survival or just general emergency preparedness is essential that they get these bottles. They were absolutely amazing and I plan on buying additional bottles for my family emergency kits. I may even give them away to friends and family as gifts so that they can have such great tools at their disposal for emergency situations. I am confident that I can use these filtered bottles with just about any poor water condition and get safe drinking water.

Water conservation has become an increasingly important topic in recent years. Finding ways to reuse, save and redistribute water is essential for the future of our species.

Here are 11 easy ways to reduce your water consumption, (and hopefully save some cash too).

1. Keep Your Plumbing in Tip Top Shape - Ensuring your plumbing and septic systems remain in good order reduces the chances of losing water due to leaks or disrepair.

2. Brush with the water off - Wet brush, apply toothpaste then turn off the faucet while you clean your pearly whites. This is a quick, easy way to save water every day.

3. Install a water filter system - Modern filters actively conserve water as they do their job. Plus filtering your own water reduces the need for the wasteful bottled water industry.

4. Install a tankless water heater - Hot water is virtually instant and they eliminate the need for a big tank which takes up space and has the potential to do serious damage should it malfunction.

5. Water when the sun is low - If you live in a warm climate and must irrigate your grass, do it as close to sunset or sunrise as possible. This saves water that would evaporate in the heat of the day and it’s better for the grass too. Water droplets magnify the sun which can burn fragile blades.

6. Start sweeping - Instead of rinsing your driveways and sidewalks, sweep them. The end result is essentially the same, you just have to apply a little elbow grease instead of letting water do the work for you.

7. Start a compost pile - Starting a compost pile instead of putting food down your garbage disposal saves water, eliminates an extra strain on your septic system and helps your garden grow.

8. Only wash a full load - This goes for both clothes and dishes. Waiting until you have a full load maximizes efficiency and reduces wasted resources.

9. Shower instead of taking a bath - If you are efficient with your time, a quick shower uses far less water than filling the bath full. Buy yourself a shower head built to conserve water and you save even more.

10. Let someone else wash your car - Washing your own car wastes a lot of water. Car washes generally use water more efficiently. To maximize water savings visit one that uses recycled water.

11. Don’t Pour it Down the Drain - Dispose of your hazardous chemicals properly. Those that go down drains and into gutters run the risk of contaminating large quantities of our water supplies.

These tips are easy to follow and will make a difference to the planet and to your water bill.
