What: BOHDS/MDSS Orientation Camp 2010

Where: Ferngully Lodge – Healesville

When: Sat 27th/Sun28th Feb 2010

Bus leaves at approx 12noon

Cost: $80.00 for Bohds members

Cost includes: Bus, accomodation, meals and refreshments (alcoholic and non alcoholic supplied)

What to bring: pillow & sleeping bag/linen, bathers, towel, TOOTHBRUSH & TOOTH PASTE

Tickets on sale: During O week at BOHDS stall on clubs market day (tues 23rd feb), at course information session (wed 24th feb), and from BOHDS reps

Some activities we’ll be doing: volley ball, basketball, ropes course, rock climbing, trampoline, outdoor heated swimming pool, table tennis, pool table, air hockey

Yesterday, BOHDS had it’s Annual General Meeting and we had a great turn-out for the most important meeting of the year. President Alison Sahhar began with a summary of the progress BOHDS has made throughout the year. This was followed by the treasurer’s report from Julie Gittins before the main section of the night: the voting of the new committee. Below are the results:

President: Alison Sahhar

Vice-President: Kelsey Barker

Treasurer: Sarah Moon

Secretary: Tiffany Chuo

Lunch & Learn officer: Andrew Sproll

Promotions officer: Andrew Do

Year level representatives:

Annual General Meeting

Every year, the club is entitled to have an Annual General Meeting (AGM) with the main purpose of electing a new executive committee. The BOHDS AGM will be held on Tuesday, October 20 in HSS314/5 at 5pm. The positions that will be available is listed below (along with the roles of each position):

President
- to co-ordinate club activities;
- to be chief spokesperson for the club; and
- to chair general and Executive meetings.
- to act as the club’s first representative to all external bodies
- to be a signatory for the club’s budget
- to help, advise, and support all members of the club
Vice-President
- to assist the President.
Secretary
- to keep the register of members;
- to arrange general and Executive meetings;
- to take minutes of all general and Executive meetings;
- to be responsible for the inward and outward correspondence of the club, including regularly checking the club pigeon-hole in the CSO’s office.
- to maintain up to date records of the club membership including contact details for members.
- to arrange events, book facilities, equipment, transport etc.
Treasurer
- to be responsible for all of the club’s money and to record all income received and payments made by the club;
- to keep a register of all assets held by the club;
- to prepare an annual budget for the club;
- to present a financial report to each Executive meeting;
- to present a financial report to the AGM for:
  - the last financial year, and
  - the period since the end of the 1st financial year; and
- to keep the financial records of the club, in conjunction with the CSO.
- to be a signatory for the club’s budget.
- to keep the club’s committee and members informed of the club’s financial situation.

Other positions that are available on the night include:

Learn & Learn officer
- to organise Lunch & Learn sessions;
- to be the point of contact for potential speakers.
1st year oral health representative
2nd year oral health representative
3rd year oral health representative
1st year dentistry representative
2nd year dentistry representative
3rd year dentistry representative

The Lunch & Learn officer will be leading a sub-committee to help organise Lunch & Learn sessions. The year level representatives communicate decisions made by the committee and promote events.

We would like everyone to attend and vote for the person who you think would be best for each role.

Also, yearbooks are being handed out on the day, so be sure that you attend to get your yearbook.

ORDER YOUR BOHDS YEARBOOK TODAY!

As you may have heard, BOHDS has been busy creating a yearbook for you and would like to know if you would like one.

The BOHDS Yearbook will be given out for FREE, but you must complete an order form to receive one. You can fill out the order form through this link: http://bohds.org/yearbook/order-form.

Additionally, you must be a BOHDS member to get a yearbook. If you are not currently a BOHDS member, you will need to become one prior to September 18 to get a free yearbook. It is $5.50 for guild members and $10 for non-guild members. Membership forms can be found at the BSA office or via this link: http://bohds.org/membership_form.pdf. Submit and pay at the BSA office.

You must order by Friday, 18th September. Any orders after this date will not be accepted.

Dental Health Week

Here is the outline of the week:

Tuesday: Colgate presentation for 2nd-year Dentistry students @ 1-3pm in Lab A. Lunch provided!

Wednesday: Stall in SU @ 12-2pm. Come along for heaps of fun and games and prizes to be won.

Thursday: MIPS presentation @ 11am-12pm in Lab C, followed by QUIT presentation @ 12-3pm in Lab A. Lunch will be provided at the MIPS presentation.

Friday: BOHDS BALL!!!

Theatre Sports

Yearbook Profiles.

No doubt many of you have heard of the yearbook that Henry is organising for all dentistry and oral health students. We would like everyone to have a profile in the yearbook. Therefore, we ask all students to send in a profile by August 14. There are many of you who have not sent in their profiles and we implore you to send in your profile as soon as possible (you can find what you need to send in the yearbook page. If we have not received a profile by August 14, we will be placing a generic profile, with generic pictures of our choosing. If you are 1 of the 10 people (yes, only 10 people out of 145 have sent in their profiles) who have sent in your profile already, we apologise in advance for all the nagging we will be doing, and please help us by constantly reminding your friends to send in their profiles.

Welcome to our BOHDS website! We have finally managed to get this set up and running, and now everything is full steam ahead.
