Inspiration – Hans Versfelt

Wow, there are not often times when I see a painter and every aspect of his or her draftsmanship convinces me. But this guy is plain awesome.

Hans Versfelt is doing mostly plein-air painting in oils, meaning direct painting on location, and he describes his landscape scenery and dutch urban portraits in a most confident and unadorned brush-work style. Yet every single stroke sits there perfectly, clearly a statement of years and years of daily practice.

Strong colors, clear and observed values and a very emotional attachment to what he is doing shows through every single picture. I love it, and so will you. Go check it out and feel inspired.
