Reasons Why Big Budget Bollywood Movies Flopped in 2009

This has been a checkered year for Bollywood as Desi movies are flopping like nine pins in a bowling alley. This year has generally been a jinxed year starting with the multiplex, producer rift which lasted for more than it was worth, the IPL cricket matches and then the dreaded Swine Flu virus which prevented people from going to the movies. No matter what the posters might say, do not believe it for one moment because the movies which are shouting out loud about their biggest openings ever and superhit status, are the ones which have lost huge amounts of money for the producers and distributors. Let's name a few, shall we?

Agyaat:

Ram Gopal Varma has done it again. It seems as if he is determined to break his Ramu Ki Aag record of the worst film ever made. Agyaat was always a jinxed product just like the protagonists of the film, Priyanka Kothari and Nitin Reddy. Ramu loves making such duds and then blame it on the ghosts who did not allow him to succeed. Right from the shooting in the jungles of Sri Lanka to the publicity stunt where Ramu had placed some real looking corpses on hoardings to attract attention, Agyaat has been surrounded by bad luck. This bad luck continued till the film released and then it died... rest in peace, Agyaat...
Beware: Ram Gopal Verma may try to make a sequel of Agyaat. (I'm sure he is trying to break the 'Aag' record)

Kambakht Ishq

This was probably the biggest Bollywood con in the history of Bollywood. "Biggest Opening Of The Last Century" and such posters are so funny when there is no one even venturing near this Desi dud of a movie. Kambakkht Ishq was the biggest let down of the year. But then did anyone expect otherwise? I don't think so. Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor also acted in Yash Raj Film's Tashan, remember?

Luck

A total copy of 12 Tzameti, 'Luck' became unlucky for everyone associated with the film.
Soham Shah had made Kaal for Karan Johar. Hmm, still people expected Luck to be a good film and a super hit? Agreed, there was Imran Khan in it but then Imran Khan has a long way to go before he can even reach close to his maamu, Aamir Khan's level of understanding of a script.
All said and done, Shruti Hassan is super hot.

8x10 Tasveer

Tasveer was nobody's fault except for Percept Picture Company's who produced this film. How can anyone in the right mind give a director like Nagesh Kukunoor more than 60 crores to make a film even if it had Akshay Kumar? Mind boggling. I'm sure Nagesh must have been wondering everyday where he can spend the money. Of course, the story, the concept and everything, all added to make this desi movie a 'Tasveer' to be hung on the wall with a garland around it forever.

Delhi 6
Everyone was waiting for this film. Everyone wanted this movie to be a hit. I think it was not a totally bad film, it was just bad. Abhishek Bachchan tried hard, poor boy but then everything else was too hotch potch. This desi hindi movie is a typical case of 'trying to do too many things in one film' syndrome. Rakyesh Mehra made this film as if he was never going to get another film to direct. I still remember one comment from a fellow audience who said after the film was over, 'I still think that Rishi Kapoor was the Bandar...' Some people laughed, some were nodding in agreement and some were plain sleepy and wanted to go home ASAP.

Billu minus the Barber:

Again, a film mired in controversies and delays. But it was kind of expected that this film will fall flat on its face. It did too. Even a Rajnikanth could not salvage the Tamil remake of the same movie. Shahrukh Khan couldn't possibly have done better than Rajnikanth in Chennai...no way. (Those people are fanatics)

Chandni Chowk to China

This was the first Hindi film to be shot on the Great Wall Of China and the first one to fall from it, too.
Akshay Kumar's fall started with Chandni Chowk To China and with Tasveer and Kambakkht Ishq, he has sank below the abyss of Bollywood success. Not that it will make a difference to him. One film with Priyadarshan and he will be back to charging his 60 crores or whatever amount he charges nowadays.
Deepika Padukone's double role and her kick boxing also couldn't salvage this super dud from Nikhil Advani. Nikhil is probably bitten by the Ramu bug. Even he is trying to outdo the failure of his last release, 'Salaam-E-Ishq'.

Satish Kaushik directing a sensitive topic with absolute newcomers? Gawd!

ShortKut-the Con is On
Arshad Warsi and Akshay Khanna in a copy of a couple of Hollywood films mixed and matched together to create a khichdi? Impossible!

Sankat City:
Pankaj Advani, who? Yeah, that's what happens to real film makers. The film had
a good plot, good direction, too but then no big names, no publicity... it was always going to be difficult for this small but good film. Get a star Pankaj.

Now that's what I call creative revenge. After what happened with Bollywood's biggest superstar, Shahrukh Khan at the Newark airport in America, Shahrukh Khan has chosen to respond to his insult by America in a way which is unique only to Indians.

Shahrukh Khan is all set to produce a music video as a tribute to the American legend of pop, the late Michael Jackson, who died at the age of 50, under mysterious circumstances which caused a controversy in the death of MJ.
This video will be directed by Samar Khan and the song, composed by Vishal and Shekhar is called, 'We lived in his world'.
Apparently Shahrukh Khan cried for hours after he heard of the passing away of the great legend Michael Jackson and so did Vishal Dadlani who was a great fan of MJ.
Incidentally, Shahrukh Khan was even slated to attend one of Michael Jackson's shows in London. (Sigh)

I still remember when my elder brother told me about this beautiful girl in his college. He said, 'Guys were reaching early to college just so that they can catch a glimpse of her'. 'Bah!', I used to scoff, 'What a myth'.

But secretly, one day, my friends and me reached the DG Ruparel College in Matunga (West), waiting for the 'myth' to unfold. The teenage hormones were running overtime at the mention of girls that time, you see. Then the moment arrived...we saw her...and we kept seeing her even when she was long past gone into her classroom. This hot, gorgeous and the most beautiful woman to walk on the planet earth was none other than Aishwarya Rai...

That moment and the moment many years later when I saw her in the Pepsi ad are etched and embossed in the memory forever. These are somethings which you will never find in any biography of Aishwarya Rai.
The first time I saw the Pepsi advertisement on TV, Aamir was playing naughty with Mahima Choudhary (then Rita Choudhary), when this beautiful babe walks in and says, 'Hi, I'm Sanju...' The same Ruparel college girl, oh my God!

Ever wondered what women want? If you are a guy, of course you have...and if you are a girl...well, I don't know that...that's what the topic is about, isn't it?

What do women want?

What did God think of when he made women? But then it is hard to know God too, ain't it? So it is not entirely surprising that he put some of his own self in women. (Wow, girls are going to love me)

Well, fear not, guys...because now, we have help. Hollywood Movies. Yes, they have made a horde of romantic films for guys like us, which explain a lot about what a girl wants. Although, we guys will never know exactly what girls want, ever, but yet, there is some sort of comfortable believability in what these films have shown. So starting today, I shall write on one film at a time as and when my whim and fancy permit me to.

Here's the first in the list of The Romantic Movies Your Girlfriend Wishes You Had Seen-

Pretty Woman.

Hell, every girl wants to be rescued by men. Period. Girls will never admit this and men would do well if they never mention these sort of things to her too. Girls feel good when her man takes up for her or even does some weird manly thing just so that he could say good night to her. She sees a Richard Gere in every boyfriend that she loves. This film is special because it reminds me of the time when I first fell in love with a girl. (Sigh). I wanted to see this film with her but couldn't because she was not allowed to go anywhere near a boy when out of the house. Imagine! But that was a different era, too. So I saw the film alone. (Sigh)
After this I went to her house and stood outside her balcony trying to figure where the fire escape stairs were...which was when her father arrived and saw me and then...(I hate Indian Architecture- imangine, no fire escape stairs...shit)
Julia Roberts as the prostitute became what she is today with this film. The world and its cousin, now, had heard of Julia Roberts.
"No kissing", she says as it was getting a little too personal. duh! more personal than having sex itself? But there's your first lesson boys. Love is not between the legs, it's between the breasts.
I meant the heart, you perverts...
This film has everything a good romantic film should have. In fact it is more like our own Desi Bollywood Hindi Movies, full of masala- emotion, drama, comedy, et al.
The moment when Julia Roberts is humiliated by a boutique salesperson and thrown out of the shop is such a good example of what a man can do to win over a woman's heart- 'rescue' her and stand by her.
A must watch if you are an unromantic, stone-hearted, workaholic bastard. There's a chance you might still change.
For the girls, well, you should all start loving me for doing this.

Probably the best romantic film ever made in the history of cinema. In 1989, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry, while in 1999, it was ranked by the American Film Institute as the second greatest American film ever made (bested only by Citizen Kane). In 2006, the Writers Guild of America voted the screenplay of Casablanca the best of all time in its list of the 101 Greatest Screenplays.

After watching this film, every girl wanted a boyfriend who looked like the hero of this film, Noah Calhoun. So please be careful, guys because he is extremely good looking. He is sweet and a nice guy too. His and Allie’s romance is what The Notebook is all about.A must watch.

Considered one of the best romantic films, is a classic. Just watch the final scene and you will swoon for sure. This is the scene when Holly and Paul embrace in the rain as ‘Moon River’ plays in the background. Clearly one of the most romantic scenes of the century.

Cary Grant at his best. This film brought the Empire State Building on the map in those times. The lvely Deborrah Kerr is cast opposite Cary Grant. When Deborah Kerr’s secret is revealed, guys, you shall be crying too. So keep your hanky with you.

This film gives perfect examples of what to do and what not to do when it comes to relationships. Guys will love beautiful and witty heroine Cher just as much as girls envy her wardrobe and popularity

Funny, entertaining, almost accurate as far as women's feelings are concerned. They don't know shit about men and the smart ass men don't know shit about women. Period.

Ten stories about people who are all loosely connected, learning how to cope with love and loss. Girls swoon over Hugh Grant and Colin Firth’s sensitive characters and know the guys will love the hilariously entertaining Bill Nighy, but what they really want is for their boyfriends to feel the love that is ‘all around’.

Girls love this movie because Bridget is a hysterical mess and still gets Mr. Darcy, and girls want their boyfriends to love the movie because they all want a Mr. Darcy. Message to all men: be like Mr. Darcy. These films are practically how-to guides for becoming the ideal man.

A guy torn between a walk-by college girl and a long time pregnant girlfriend. Fidelity is often the number one problem in relationships, and this film is the perfect example of loving what you’ve got. Although it has its fair share of drama, but it is handled very lightly. For all those who are afraid of a committment, watch this.

This film was cult when it had released first in the eighties. Patrick Swayze, who oozes sex appeal alongside Jennifer Grey dance their way to each other's hearts. Guys who can dance are just that much more attractive is what girls feel and they would want you to do exactly that. So if you have two left feet...scram...

Girls are always looking for a boy who is exactly like her dad, before she can take the plunge into matrimony. Steve Martin is hilarious as usual. His concern about his young daughter’s impending marriage is both funny and heart-warming, and their bond is one to be envied by fathers and daughters everywhere.

Here's the first look pics of Ashutosh Govariker's forthcoming Hindi Movie-What's Your Rashee starring Priyanka Chopra and Harman Baweja. This seems like an interesting movie to watch out for. Hope this turns things around for Harman Baweja. But looking at the pics, one wonders that will he be able to make a mark with 12 desi girl, Priyanka Chopras around.

It is hard to recognize Priyanka Chopra in these 12 radically different looks in What's Your Rashee. The film is said to be adapted from a Gujarati Novel, 'Kimball Ravenswood' by Shri Madhu Rye. It is a romantic comedy, the first attempt at this genre by the Lagaan and Jodha Akbar director Ashutosh Govarikar.

So What's the Story?
Sources say the story of What's our Rashee is about a young Gujarati man who is searching for a bride for himself. But there is a catch. He has to find her in ten days because otherwise his family could get into some sort of trouble. Hmm...the plot looks interesting, although a little run of the mill...but with Priyanka Chopra doing 12 different roles, it should be a treat to savour.

4 Ways India Should Respond For Bollywood's Biggest Super Star Shahrukh Khan's Insult By America

Something is wrong...something is seriously wrong with the world. Shahrukh Khan, the Indian Film Industry's most recognizable face in the world, was detained for over 2 hours at the Newark Airport. I mean how dumb can one get? Okay, agreed, they might not have heard of him or seen his photographs. Shahrukh Khan- the name maybe a fairly common name in the list of terrorists across the world, but the idiots had to just enter his name in Google search and found out whether he was indeed speaking the truth. They would have fallen off their chairs and landed on their butts to learn that the person they were insulting was none other than THE Shahrukh Khan... I mean how difficult is that to do? It is preposterous that a country like America behaves routinely rudely with people belonging to other countries. The worst part is- the other countries take it lying down.

Here are the 4 ways India should respond to America for the insult to Shahrukh Khan on American soil:

When Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie come to India again, (boy, are we waiting...) our custom officers should fucking frisk them like they were some sort of bacteria coming into our country. They should be made to sit in the toilet for 2 hours. (Eww, now that would be torture!) and then cleaned with Harpic before allowing them to set foot on our soil.
When Obama comes knocking for more bandwidth from our Bangalorians, we should just plain refuse. No 'IT' work for America. Period. Go appoint more havaldaars to manage the traffic. (Yes, even their traffic management is designed and managed by some genius in India).
Alternately, all our call centre executives should start abusing anyone calling customer care from America. Please use the choicest Hindi Gaalis guy and gals. Give it to them. Phone Call from America: 'I want to know why my microwave oven is not working' Response: 'chu....... cook food on fire for a change, you bloody over weight, unhealthy, scumbag American...phone rakh'

This is the best part...

We should go ahead and start bombing Pakistan with our Nuclear bombs and finish the whole Godforsaken country once and for all. America and Hillary Clinton can go take a walk. In fact, we don't even have to Nuke them, our Diwali 'sutli' bombs should do just fine.

Poor Shahrukh Khan...he is probably going through the worst period of his life this year. I just hope he doesn't release his latest forthcoming Hindi film, 'My Name is Khan' this year because it will flop very badly, for sure...
Watch this video where Shahrukh Khan spoke to CNN after the Newark incident. He does seem upset and a little angry, though he is trying hard to hide it.
Karan Johar probably made the best statement. He said, 'Shahrukh Khan always had this fear that something like this would happen to him someday and it has manifested itself...'
Well, Shahrukh, just hang on...this issue is going to take the parliament by storm. Probably it may even endanger the nuclear deal between America and India...

One does expect some sort of drama and excitement in reality shows nowadays. For example, Rakhi Ka Swayamvar promised a lot of controversies and drama and scandals but then in the end it turned out that Rakhi Sawant actually put the garland around some NRIs neck and is actually engaged to him. Wow! Who would've thought. There were so many stories floating around in recent times about sting operations being carried out on contestants on the show, etc. Some even said that the winner will be offered a huge amount of money and given a choice between the money and Rakhi Sawant. Nothing! Zilch! Nada!
The guests arrived, the swayamvar took place and Rakhi Sawant put the garland around one Elesh from Canada.
Great! End of story! End of a promise!
Total damp squib if you tell me.
Also I heard all the guests on the show were paid huge amount of money to attend the wedding.
So in the end everyone was happy except the audience.
I was listening to a debate on some news channel about reality shows and was intrigued at the amount of interest these shows have been generating recently and the differing view points of each one in the panel. Jerry Pinto was livid with these shows. He believes reality TV should be limited to News channels... but Jerry, in a country with high hypocritical standards, don't you think finally the audience has this opportunity to actually start thinking about opening up to this madness even though some of it is fake.
I'll tell you an incident- recently our maid was beaten up by her husband. She promptly went and complained to the police and also asked me if there was anyone I knew in the media because she was fed up and wanted to expose the bastard. Wow! I said... she believed that this was the only way a husband is going to remain in control. Now this is definitely not news. But the scary part is, it is so easy to just contact a content starved reporter to come and cover this kind of madness of settling family squabbles on National air time.
So news channels are also not exactly all reality, you know. It is still a platform which can be easily manipulated and exploited.
Of course, some believe the line has to be drawn somewhere but I think, to hell with the lines...this is the first time India and Indian people are coming out of their closets. Let the lines be crossed, let the maryaadaas be ulanghaned, I say.

What an exciting time to be trying to make it big in good ole' Bollywood. Yes, with the advent of television and new age small, niche cinema, a lot of people who land in Mumbai with tinsel dreams in their eyes have finally got a platform to try and actually make those dreams come true. Not that it is an easy route but definitely there are many more avenues and doors for Bollywood Strugglers to knock on today.

Bollywood 'Done- To- Death' Publicity Stunts

Ever since the desi hindi movie season has begun, the desi stars and producer, directors are trying to outdo each other in the publicity department. Many have tried to do something innovative but most of them resorted to the cliche and the done-to-death. Here's actually what happens behind the scenes.
The latest in news is Kaminey and reports are out that Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra have broken off. Really? Were they even seeing each other in the first place? Now here's what really happens...The director edits the film and he immediately decides that it is time to cut the promo for the film. So he picks out some good shots and scenes to be used in the promos. Then the next step. He meets the stars and the producer.
Director: 'We will have to do something new about publicity'
Producer" 'I have an idea, this time we will not put up hoardings...instead we will distribute pamphlets outside the stations'
All look at him and ignore him as they know he is just trying to save on the budget.
The director then instructs the lead couple to do something.
Director: '...like you know, break off or something...'
Shahid: 'what? but we are not going around. How can we break off?'
Director: 'That's what will be unique about the whole thing'
Priyanka sits dumb, not really understanding what he means...infact not even interested.
Shahid pretends to think but actually he is cursing the director in his mind: 'stupid oaf...he will cause a fight between me and... wait a minute, who's my latest girl? Oh shit...(looks into his mobile) Oh yeah...whew! Anushka...? Who's she?'
Director: 'So what do you think?'
Shahid: 'Who's Anushka Sharma?'
Priyanka: 'That bitch from that stupid film with SRK...'
Shahid: 'Oh yeah...shit...whew! thanks PC...she would have killed me...'
Director: 'why would she have killed you?'
Shahid: 'wouldn't your girlfriend kill you if you forgot her name?'
Director: 'She's your girlfriend? that's great...I have got a scoop...'
Shahid and Priyanka look at each other, still unaware of what was going on here.
The next day the Bombay Times headlines scream: 'Shahid cries on Anushka Sharma's shoulders after break up with Priyanka Chopra.'
The buzz is created and this affair and break up will be talked about till the movie is released. Good job, well done!

Michael Jackson's Hair Raising (Burning) Incident: Turning Point to Death?

It is shocking how the media has gone berserk over the death of Michael Jackson, the legend. Firstly his death is being labelled as murder by some insiders who were trying to get his money, then the reports about the fight for custody of his children, the drugs theory, the murder speculations. Enough, already! The guy is gone...
It is heart numbing enough that Michael Jackson died, but it is even more heart wrenching to see the media hype over his death.
Recently, they started airing a video where, during a show Michael Jackson's hair caught fire. Some Indian channel was propagating that this incident was the turning point in the 25 year old Michael Jackson then.
Apparently this was the incident which made him go under the knife of the plastic surgeon and start taking drugs for various self-imagined pain he was going through.
Hmm...for the first time, this report doesn't sound far fetched. This could have been the turning point in MJ's life. But we shall never know that. [watch video here]
While the world speculates over the causes of his death, Michael Jackson must have begun the process of settling into the other world smoothly by now or maybe taking a transition back to this world in another form and body.
Either way, I'm sure, he's fine now. After all, look at the company he has now...

Rakhi Sawant's S(ham)wayamwar: Fixed?

Well, well, well, Rakhi Sawant has surely put her small feet in her big mouth with her latest show Rakhi Ka Swayamvar which is more like a S(ham)wayamvar. The length people can go to to get TRPs is not funny. A leading news channel conducted a sting operation on one of the contestants of the show. The guy was married with 3 kids, can you imagine? to top it he claimed that everyone knew that. He was purposely asked to enter as a participant so that it can be 'revealed' later in the show and drama is created. Whew!
As it is the show is boring and whatever little pull Rakhi Sawant has over the audience was diminished further by these kind of 'revelations'. Although the show had great potential if done properly, but the producers had no idea of what to do with this kind of a format.
Rakhi Sawant should stick to her other kinds of publicity seeking stunts rather than waste so much time of the viewers. Moreover the tasks being performed by the participants are worthy in a 'Fear Factor' kind of show. walking on burning coals, trying to choke each other with a rod...eewwww! Who does that to get married? These things are automatically inculcated in your life after marriage anyway.
Who thinks of all these tasks in a marriage show?
eeeks! the shamwayamvar sucks! Big time!

THIS was the biggest moment ever on this planet...ever...
Move over Akshay Kumar, take a walk Shahrukh, because this man called Michael Jackson was, is and will always remain the biggest ever star of this planet. The tears refuse to dry and yet we can't help but smile, however much we try. Never, I repeat, never will there be another person on this earth who will ever reach such heights as those reached by the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
The enigma called Michael Jackson has been finally put away to rest forever. The vocal chords, the moon-walking legs, the heart from where the music came from, everything has gone forever.
The biggest performers and legends paid tribute to the Legend of Pop, the biggest of them could not hide their emotional sense of loss, the greatest of them let go and cried in front of billions watching. This is the kind of frenzy that Michael's death has brought about across all borders of the earth and probably beyond, somewhere too.
Who cries for someone you don't even know? I don't. Yeah, I'm a big fan and I love his music and I AM emotional but I won't cry and all, come on!
But then one could not really control emotions during the live memorial event of MJ's when people shouted, 'come back Michael', when Brooke Shields could not hold back her tears even though she was trying to narrate some funny anecdotes from her childhood with Michael, when MJ's brother broke down as he was closing the ceremony. One could not control the tears from flowing when Janet Jackson brought MJ's 12 year old daughter and asked her to speak a few words. She couldn't say much.

"Ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine... I just wanted to say I love him so much."

She cried. So did all those billions watching her and...finally one HAD to break down when a million people went silent at the end of the memorial, when the frenetic crowd waiting outside to celebrate MJ's legacy, stood still... when the music stopped and only sniffles were heard, when time almost stood still as everyone tried to grasp the fact that the greatest musician would never sing or dance again.
No words can define the emotions that one feels at this time. Just...
...Goodbye Michael! 'til next time...

You must have seen some or probably all of the above headlines in various magazines and newspapers in recent times. This kind of marketing has been going on since a long time in Bollywood but earlier it was something which really helped the sales at the Box Office. But in today's times, the people have really seen the truth behind these "headlines".

Yet there is still not a sure fire proof that these figures are untrue. Well, let me put it straight to you. I was sitting in a Hindi film Producer's office recently when I saw a copy of a leading Trade Magazine for the Bollywood industry. Guess what, the covers said, "Kambakkht Ishq takes the biggest Opening in the History of Bollywood". You might think what is so shocking about it? The said headline does figure as the first line of this post. Agreed, only that the day I saw it was the day when Kambakkht Ishq had not even released. YES, it was a Wednesday and the film was supposed to release on Friday. Even the paid previews were scheduled for Thursday. Wait, it's not over yet. I called one of my friends who works for the said Trade Magazine and asked him how many days does it take them to print the magazine and his reply was that the copies were delivered to them 3 days ago and it takes a minimum of 7 days to print the magazine before it is delivered to the actual readers (mainly Hindi film Producers). There's more, the same friend had delivered this copy in advance to the producer whose office I saw it the first time. So there! The headline was printed a minimum 10 days before the release of the film. Talk about positive thinking, eh?

P.S. Last heard, there were 'Superhit Headline' posters printed for almost all big budget films but it does not always work as was seen with 'Tasveer 8X10'. My source in Percept Picture Company tells me that they incurred a loss of almost 25 lakhs only on these posters, other than the 40 crores that the film lost.
Ahem! The Con is on...
P.S. Just heard...They are even planning a party for the super success of Kambakkht Ishq. The Bollywood who's who will be attending. This reminded me of the Thursday when 'Phoonk' had a trial show for invitees. I was one of them. Guese what, We were invited for a party on Monday to celebrate the success of the film over the weekend. (These filmy Bollywood PR guys are real astrolgers, I tell you)

Hindi Movies Latest Shooting Hotspot: Bandra-Worli Sea Link

The first time I laid my eyes on the structure was when it was only half complete, some two years ago. Like a true Bombayiite, I was sure this thing would never be ready before I turn 50 and no longer able to drive a car. But lo and behold! It is here, all done and standing, in all its splendor and glory. Yes, I'm talking about the Bandra-Worli Sea Link which was recently inaugurated by Sonia Gandhi. Although, some people did try to create a controversy with regards to the naming of the bridge, the Sea link has overwhelmed all controversies and Bombayiites.

The reason for writing this on a Bollywood blog is that this spot has now become the latest hot spot for shooting forthcoming Hindi films in Bollywood. Recently Quick Gun Murugan was refused permission to shoot a song on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link because of the heavy crowd and also because there are a lot of Hindi Film makers who are racing to be the first to expose the bridge on film. Let's see who wins the race finally.

It's All Over for Shiney Ahuja

The DNA reports have spoken and spoken loud and clear. The maid was raped and raped by none other than Shiney Ahuja as the samples taken from his wounds and semen match those found on the girl's body. Moreover, the scratch marks and the wounds found on Shiney Ahuja have also been used as proof that there was force involved during the dastardly act.
Whew! Guess, it's all over for Shiney Ahuja now. Apparently, Shiney pleaded with the judge to give him bail because he is from a good family and that he has films that need to be shot. Who is this guy's lawyer, anyway? Who in the right mind, could ever think of trying to manipulate the judiciary in such a way? I mean, isn't this ridiculously callous and contempt for the intelligence of the judiciary and the people in general?
Good family, no less! Imagine this guy?
It is also heartening to see that the media is not giving this issue much mileage. For once, they have been responsible and not giving undue publicity to such cases where the wife and the whole family is out on the streets trying to get their fifteen minutes of fame.
Where is the wife now, one wonders, though! Sad for her but then it's better it happened now when she is still young. She must immediately leave him and start her life afresh rather than going around town trying to defend his monster of a husband.
RAPE is a heinous crime and the perpetrator of such a crime should be dealt with in the strictest manner.
Time to rot in Hell, Shiney!

Michael Jackson: Controversy in Death

It was bound to happen, wasn't it? When someone like Michael Jackson dies, people assume that something must have gone wrong with his death. That's because most of the people are still grappling with the fact that a legend who they loved is no more. It happens with any family. We have seen so many instances in recent times where untimely death of people have caused a controversy like the death of Indian Idol singer Ishmeet in a swimming pool, the student from a top Delhi school who died of an asthma attack, the boy who was ragged to death in a college hostel and a host of other deaths which created a stir in the media for some days and then died down slowly and surely. No one knows, no one bothers about those news anymore and the family is left fending for themselves, trying to get a hold on their emotions.
This is Michael Jackson's death, no less! There had to be some mystery to be solved, some piece of a puzzle to be put in place, some answers to questions and to top it, if someone disappears after the incident, the mystery gets murkier. Like in Mike's death, the doctor went missing. They were searching for him. They want answers. But did anyone for a moment thought that he could have disappeared just to stay away from the limelight for a few days. Let's just imagine if he would have stayed on and tried to answer questions about the death of the greatest icon of the world, the king of pop, Michael Jackson. He would have probably died himself.
I'm not saying there is nothing to the questions. There could be something but there could be nothing too.
Michael Jackson dying like this has only ensured that he will remain a legend for many more eons to come just like Elvis or Marilyn Monroe before him or for that matter our own desi icons like Guru Dutt, Madhubala or Kishore Kumar. They are what they are because they went away early. For example look at our other desi legends like Dilip Kumar and Dev Anand who have almost faded from public memories and are hardly remembered even by our own fraternity members. In fact, someone like Manoj Kumar is even ridiculed in a film like Om Shanti Om, even though he is a legend in his own right.

Timing is everything, they say and going out when people ask 'why', rather than 'why not', makes more sense.
So, maybe there is a silver streak in this tragic moment. Michael Jackson passing over to the other side early might just have ensured his name is engraved into the annuls of historical legends.

Michael Jackson was reported dead on Thursday, 25th June, 2009, apparently of a cardiac arrest in Los Angeles.
I still remember when 'Thriller' had first made news all over the world. I was a kid then and did not know much about western music. In fact, not many in India were interested in western music in those times. But then came Michael Jackson and his album 'Thriller' and the rest, as they say, is history.

There will never be an icon as big through out the world as Michael Jackson. Never.
This can be said with authority because of the number of people who know him by his name. You visit the interior small villages of India, where most people might not know the current lot of Bollywood star actors like Imran Khan or Ranbir Kapoor, you will be surprised to learn that they, too, are aware of some singer, dancer from Amrika, who 'breaks' his body when he dances and who has a name like any Indian name 'Jaikishen'.
Jackson will be remembered for many things, including the scandals but one had to just be on the Mumbai roads when MJ came here on a tour to see the kind of frenzy he creates all over the world. There was an almost curfew like situation in Mumbai. Everybody and his father was trying to arrange for tickets for the show. The minister connections were exploited, the policemen were being called by long lost friends for tickets and what the hell, even some of the workers who constructed the stage and lighting, hid inside for days so that they can catch a glimpse of the biggest pop icon of the century.

Bollywood stars were clamouring for is attention. They even stood in a line to shake hands with him at a party he attended for five minutes. Reportedly, many desi stars did not wash their hands for days.
The one thing that the Shiv Sena did right ever, was get Michael Jackson to India. I think Balasaheb will be remembered only for this one good thing that he gave to the nation.

This kind of fan adulation was never seen for anyone before MJ and it is unlikely that this kind of a phenomenon will occur ever again.
Michael Jackson was truly a phenomenon.

'We are the world, we are the children, we are the ones to make a brighter place, so let's start giving'
Heal the World!

May his soul pass over to the other side peacefully.
RIP Michael Jackson!
