Veena Malik signs a film for Rs 1 lakh!

She may be known for creating ripples with her publicity stunts but not many of us know the real story of Veena Malik. Veena Malik, who has earned herself the title of being the latest 'drama queen' in town, is actually one of the lowest paid actresses in town.

Veena, who took to fame post her stint in the reality show Bigg Boss, is desperate to sustain the limelight. Since getting big projects is not an easy affair, it is learnt that the actress has lowered her price and is signing films for as low as Rs 1 Lakh.

Confirming this, our source says, "This might sound strange but the fact is that Veena Malik is one of the lowest paid actresses in town. Apart from her publicity stunts, the actress has no substantial work to talk about and now she has become the darling of every small time producer. It was surprising to know that the actress recently signed a film for just Rs 1 Lakh only."

Madhavan praises Bipasha Basu

Lauding actor Bipasha Basu as one of the best actors he has worked with, actor R. Madhavan says it has been a privilege to work with her in the film - Jodi Breakers. “She is one of the most outstanding and rewarding co-stars I have ever worked with. Bipasha is a heroine who is involved in all creative aspects of the film,” says Madhavan. “It has been a privilege to work with a heroine like her who has never made anybody wait for her on the sets,” he adds.

It’s not only Madhavan that has praises to sing about Basu, the dusky beauty is also appreciative of the 41-year-old actor, and says that she wants her husband to be like Madhavan. In the film, Madhavan plays the role of Sid, who along with Bipasha, is a Jodi Breaker - helping people who want to break their marriages and start a new life. Nargis Fakhri, Shazahn Padamsee on fashion week ramp

New Delhi: B-town newbies Nargis Fakhri and Shazhan Padamsee turned up on the last day of Wills India Fashion Week (WIFW) to walk the ramp for young designers Sakshee Pradhan and Sulakshana Monga respectively.

Nargis, who made her debut last year with `Rockstar` opposite Ranbir Kapoor, looked chic in a silk sequined beige blouse and pants.

"It was a different experience all together. Being a show stopper added an extra oomph factor. I was completely transformed into a glam diva. I felt so glamorous that I don`t have words to describe it," said Nargis. When asked about her upcoming projects, the 32-year-old said, "A lot of things are happening in my professional life, but I don`t want to talk about it right here," she added.

Pradhan`s collection featured modern designs in off-whites blended with muted shades of beige and ending with muted golds. The clothes were accesorised with beige specs and large earphones. The materials used were silk, satin and net.

"This collection was a tribute to the woman of today, who is multi faceted, strong and intellectual yet very much feminine, who loves to flaunts her style with ease and elan. Nargis is my muse as she represents everything in my collection," the designer said.

Shazahn walked the ramp in an ivory dress - with net, frills and a train - for designer Sulakshana, whose fall winter collection was all about colours, textures and patterns.

"I am feeling like a princess. This dress is a piece of art. It is a young collection and it is so different as she has experimented with Indian and Western style. I was unsure if I would look good but the moment I was on the runway, it was amazing," Padamsee said.

Mewcomer designer Tahera Peeran, who also showcased her autumn-winter collection, brought along her one-year-old daughter Aalia at the show. Her collection `New Slang` showed the pairing of opposites like fluidity with structure, masculine with feminine, austerity with quirky.

"I drew inspiration from squiggle art translated into contemporary, edgy batik and shibori prints. The color palette is a mix of navy, teal, nude, sage, lime and coral in khadi silk, dupion and silk satin," Peeran said.

The lovely ladies Bipasha Basu, Dipannita Sharma and Mrinalini Sharma went shopping as soon as the shoot would get over and the macho men R Madhavan, Omi Vaidya and Ashwini Chaudhry would hop in casinos and gamble.

Kareena too beautiful to turn director: Karan Johar

Even as Karan Johar’s rom, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, is setting the cash registers ringing, talks are rife about Kareena Kapoor’s probable directorial debut with Dharma Productions. It was recently suggested that Karan Johar might give Bebo a project to helm after she gets married to Saif Ali Khan.

Ask the producer about this news and he laughs, before saying, “No, that’s not true at all. As everyone knows, Kareena is a great actor and all she should ever do is act. Honestly speaking, I don’t think I will ever lumber the job of a director on her. She is too beautiful for that.” Apparently, the actor made a few worthwhile suggestions towards the script of Ek Main Aur….

Rumour also has it that Karan is looking to cast Imran Khan and Kareena in another film. “I would love to. Their pairing has been accepted and people have loved them. So who knows, very soon, we’ll have a film with both of them again,” he says.

Trade figures have revealed that the Dharma Productions and UTV Motion Pictures film has collected about Rs 29 crore within five days of its release in the domestic market. It has apparently crossed the $2.3 million mark overseas.

Adds the elated filmmaker, “The movie has an unconventional feel and treatment, but yet, it was loved by the audiences. What I especially feel proud of is the fact that I have given the industry and my company two new voices through Karan Malhotra (director of Agneepath) and Shakun (director Batra of Ek Main Aur…) right at the onset of 2012. As for Kareena, we consider her to be our in-house Dharma girl. I am happy to see that she is being praised for her performance.”

Big B battles sleepless nights in hospital

A week after he was hospitalized and underwent two abdominal surgeries, Amitabh Bachchan says he is spending sleepless nights and recovering only slowly. Unable to doze off at the SevenHills Hospital, Big B took to Twitter at 4 a.m. Saturday to connect with his "extended family".

"Have not been able to sleep yet... so I guess you all have to tolerate me for a while," the 69-year-old megastar wrote. "The body repairs but gradually... what a piece of machinery the Almighty created...incredible! "Yes it's become a routine now to be awake all night almost... best time to think, reminisce, write and contemplate...

"The doctors have gone home, the family is asleep in adjoining room and the night nurses and sisters are a joy to be with...," he added. Amitabh complained that the internet connection at the hospital conked out for a while.

At night, he listened to Coke Studio. "Such talent within and across the border ... soulful, caressing, almost taking the pain away..."Big B earlier spoke of his slow recovery. "There seems to be a slight, very slight, upward push to the graph on recovery, though there is still an immense amount of work to be done," he posted on his blog bigb.bigadda.com Friday night.

Amitabh was admitted for abdominal surgery Feb 11. He was to be discharged Feb 13. But acute pain forced doctors to keep him under observation. Doctors were thinking of another surgery Friday but that did not take place as he showed slight improvement.

"The fever stayed within control and a few blood readings brought a gentle smile on the faces of the medical team," he said. "A CT Scan planned to detect another nagging problem ... shall be considered tomorrow. "My intake has been improved upon - from three sips of water per day to four sips! Thats like a couple of teaspoons full extra," added the actor.

Veena Malik denies being a spy, cops tell court

Pakistani actress Veena Malik has denied working as a spy for her country’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Delhi Police Tuesday told a court here. The police statement came after a court’s order to file an action taken report on a complaint seeking registration of a case against Malik for allegedly spying in India.

Metropolitan Magistrate Purva Sareen after taking note of the police report, listed the case for arguments March 2. Mahidul Hassan, Imam of a mosque in south Delhi’s Jamia Nagar, in his complaint alleged that she was working for the ISI after Malik’s purported photograph was published on a magazine cover with an “ISI” tattoo on her arm.

Hassan’s advocate requested the court to lodge a sedition case against the Pakistani actress. The complaint said that the tattoo indicated that she was spying for the Pakistani intelligence agency, which should be probed. Malik claimed that the cover photo published in the magazine was doctored. The complaint has also named the magazine and its owner as parties in the case.
