Mumbai, Aug 4 (IANS) Actress Rashmika Mandanna, who has been crowned as National Crush, has given a sneak-peek into a day of her life when she’s not filming.

Sharing details about her off day, Rashmika told IANS: “On my non-filming days, I try to slow down. My mornings start with journaling. I still write in my diary regularly. It helps me feel present and grateful. I spend time with my dog, maybe go for a walk, catch up on reading or shows I’ve missed.”

The actress said that sometimes she would be on a” brand call” or “working on Dear Diary, because I’m very hands-on as a founder.”

“But even then, I try to carve out quiet moments with my family, with nature, or just with myself. Those are the moments that refill my cup,” said the actress, who was recently seen in the crime thriller Kuberaa, directed by Sekhar Kammula.

The film stars Nagarjuna Akkineni, Dhanush, Jim Sarbh, and Dalip Tahil. It is about a beggar who undergoes a dramatic transformation. The film explores themes of greed, ambition, and the moral dilemmas faced by the characters, ultimately leading to a quest for redemption.

The actress has “The Girlfriend” next lined up for release. The upcoming Telugu movie is directed by Rahul Ravindran.

Along with that, the 29-year-old star also has “Thama” starring Ayushmann Khurrana, which is labelled as a gripping love story set against a bloody backdrop.

“Thama” tells the tale of a determined historian who immerses himself in ancient manuscripts, uncovering dark secrets about local vampire myths as supernatural forces begin to stir.

Made under the direction of ‘Muniya’ fame Aditya Sarpotdar, the project marks Rashmika and Ayushmann’s primary collaboration with the filmmaker.

Backed by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik, the story of “Thama” has been provided by Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew, and Arun Fulara. Presented by Maddock Films, the drama will also feature Paresh Rawal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in crucial roles, along with others.

Mumbai, Aug 4 (IANS) Bollywood actress and advocate for maternal rights, Neha Dhupia, who is set to amplify her initiative Freedom to Feed for World Breastfeeding Week 2025, said that no woman should be made to feel ashamed for simply feeding her child.

Launched in 2019, Freedom to Feed was born from Neha’s personal journey into motherhood and her desire to normalize public breastfeeding without stigma, shame, or judgement.

Speaking about reigniting the campaign, Neha said: “When I first launched Freedom to Feed, it came from a deeply personal space — from feeling vulnerable, judged, and isolated during what should have been the most natural and empowering time of my life.”

“Over the years, I’ve realised how many women have felt the same, and how powerful it can be when we come together to share our stories. This year, I want to make the conversation even louder, even more honest. Because no woman should be made to feel ashamed for simply feeding her child.”

She said that this is about choice, dignity, and respect.

“And it’s time we all stood up for that.”

It was in 2018, when Neha married actor Angad Bedi, the son of former Indian cricket captain Bishan Singh Bedi in a private ceremony at a Gurudwara. The same year in November, she gave birth to a girl named Mehr Dhupia Bedi.

In July 2021, she and Angad announced that they are expecting their second child with an Instagram post. She gave birth to her second child, a boy in October 2021 and named him Guriq Singh Dhupia Bedi.

This year, Neha will be engaging in meaningful digital conversations with celebrated actors Radhika Apte, Yuvika Chaudhary, and Sonali Sehgall, diving deep into themes of body autonomy, societal pressures, and the emotional landscape of motherhood.

On the acting front, Neha was last seen in “Bad Newz,” inspired by true events. The film revolves around heteropaternal superfecundation, a reproductive process in which twins are born to the same mother, but from different biological fathers.

Mumbai, Aug 4 (IANS) Actress Divya Dutta, who will be seen in the upcoming series “Mayasabha: The Rise of the Titans”, has spoken about leadership versus control and said that there is a significant distinction between the two and not a “fine line.”

In the trailer for the upcoming series, Divya’s character Irawati Bose is heard saying the line: “Who says dictatorship is not leadership?”

Asked how she personally interprets the fine line between control and leadership, Divya told IANS: “That’s not a fine line at all. It is a huge difference that makes sort of control and leadership because I think a leader mostly makes a team, a good leader, takes the team with you and yeah, dictatorship is something different, of course.

“But yes, I think that that line is a very ‘tha’ dialogue, if I may say so in a Punjabi way,” said that actress.

Talking about taking on the powerful role of Irawati Bose, the actress shared that she was drawn to it not only for its strength but also for the unique character dynamics.

“I think this was the take of the director who asked me to do this one. I think I took it because, not because of just the strength of the role, of course that is there, but because of the script, I think it is one of the most intriguing scripts that I have heard.”

She said that this kind of drama, which hasn’t been really seen on the Indian screens.

“And two, I think the dynamics this woman has with the other characters was, I think, a delight for me as an actor to portray. So, I could assume that I was going to have a lot of fun and my director just sailed me through giving those little nuances, moments that were, like, I think that makes a greedy actor satiated,” said Divya.

“Mayasabha: The Rise of the Titans” is a political drama web series directed by Deva Katta and Kiran Jay Kumar. It stars Aadhi Pinisetty and Chaitanya Rao in the lead roles, with Divya, Sai Kumar, Srikanth Iyengar and Nassar.

Set in the volatile political landscape of 1990s Andhra Pradesh, the series dramatises the evolving relationship between two prominent political figures—Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy—portraying their journey from close friendship to political rivalry.

The show will stream on Sony LIV from August 7.

Mumbai, Aug 4 (IANS) Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur has penned a heartfelt note for his multifaceted daughter Kaveri, whom he tagged as his “greatest wealth” and explained that his true “wealth” is not by material possessions, but by the sum of his life experiences.

Taking to Instagram, Shekhar shared a throwback picture of himself and Kaveri, from her toddler days.

In the caption section, Shekhar wrote a letter to his “daughter on her Birthday (sic).”

He wrote: “My wealth lies in the faliures of my life just as my succeses. My wealth lies in people I have known and lost. My wealth lies in the pain and the heartache of living. As much as in life’s joys (sic).”

“My wealth also lies in the memories of those moments of love that were given to me. And given by me. But my wealth also lies in letting those joyous moments and people go.”

He said that his wealth also “lies in all those dreams, fulfilled and unfulfilled.”

“In all those longings that aroused my passions.”

The filmmaker added: “My wealth lies in all the passions I have ever felt and expressed. And those not expressed. My wealth lies in every moment of joy, but also the guilt that I carry for actions done or even imagined. That burden too is my wealth. My wealth lies in every breath that I have ever breathed. Each imbued with doubts and questions as much as hopes and dreams. And fears.”

“But my wealth also lies in the adventures that I gave into, both knowingly and unknowingly .. and in not giving into those fears.”

He then wrote: “But my greatest wealth is you. Nothing in the whole universe compares to you. You were the string to my kite that was buffeting in the storm. You gave me context ..

All this wealth , all these dreams .. all these adventures .. I bequeath to you. For you to squander to the winds.. just as I did .. Love you .. Daddy.”

Shekhar’s next is a new AI-generated sci-fi series “Warlord.” He also shared a short teaser of Warlord on his Instagram. It featured striking visuals like a giant jellyfish-shaped spaceship floating over an alien planet, a glowing woman transforming into pure energy, and a shadowy figure observing the scene.

Mumbai, Aug 4 (IANS) Actress and politician Smriti Irani has heaped praise at cinematographer Deepak Malvankar for his exceptional work. She went on to recommend watching the latest Brad Pitt-starrer F1 and said that it’s a great story for anyone who loves an unlikely winner.

Smriti took to her Instagram, where she shared two pictures. First featuring her in her “Tulsi” look from “Kiyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi” along with Malvankar, who seems to be explaining a scene to the actress.

Smriti wrote: “What you see on screen is an actor at work. What you feel on screen—that’s Deepak Malvankar, cinematographer par excellence. The man in the shadows who lights up every frame, dreams in colour, and breathes life into the lifeless. Strange, perhaps, to see a TV show mentioned in the same breath as an international blockbuster.

“But that’s the magic of craft—when it’s driven by love, scale doesn’t matter. Be it a daily soap or Formula 1, passion makes everything cinematic. #behindthescenes.”

She also shared a proctor of “F1,” directed by Joseph Kosinski. The film stars Pitt as Formula One (F1) racing driver Sonny Hayes, who returns after a 30-year absence to save his former teammate’s underdog team, APXGP, from collapse. Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, and Javier Bardem also star in supporting roles.

“P.S— Must watch F1 if you haven’t already ( I did twice ) .. watch if you love stories of the underdog , if you are a has been that never was , if you like to see an unlikely winner , if you can carve victory out of a loss,” Smriti concluded.

Talking about ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2,’ the show also stars Rohit Suchanti, Hiten Tejwani, Gauri Pradhan, Shakti Anand, Kamalika Guha Thakurta, Ketaki Dave, Ankit Bhatia, Barkha Bisht among others.

Mumbai, July 31 (IANS) Jason Momoa has become unrecognisable after shaving off his iconic beard for the first time in six years, but the Hollywood star says he ‘hates it.’

Momoa took to Instagram, where he shared a video of himself shaving his beard. In the clip, he was heard saying: “God damn it, I hate it. I think it’s been about six years, maybe a little bit more, since I did Dune. What was really special about that is that is when I started launching Mononalu.”

“At that time, I think we were one of the first ones to ever release the aluminum bottle. And now, six years later, you know, airports are banning single-use plastic, all these positive things are happening. So Mononalu, we took a big shift.”

The star added: “And the goal now is we partner with Boomerang. And so we have a closed-loop system. The goal is just to eliminate waste, cut down on all the emissions.

So imagine, like, when you’re in Hawaii, you go to all those hotels. And I really, my goal is to stop bringing over single-use plastic. Stop it, we don’t need it.”

The actor said that this “is the kickoff, Dune 3,’ the American epic space opera film directed by Denis Villeneuve.

The sequel to Dune (2021) and Dune: Part Two (2024), the film is based on the 1969 novel Dune Messiah by Frank Herbert. The film stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, and Jason Momoa—all in returning roles.

For the caption, the actor, famously known as the “Aquaman”, wrote: “Haven’t shaved in six years, and here we are again. I launched @mananalu to help eliminate single-use plastic. Now, we’re taking it even further, partnering with our team at @Getboomerangwater to bring in a closed-loop system that sanitizes and bottles water onsite.”

“That means even less waste, reduced shipping footprint, and our aluminum bottles get reused over and over. This is the future, and we’re starting in Hawai’i. Let’s get rid of single-use plastic. For our children and for our planet. All my aloha.”

He added: “Then you realise and give brave thoughts to the men and women of our fighting forces, and fall short for words in describing their unstinted contribution for the Nation ..”

Big B feels guided to a deeper, often unseen truth about our armed forces.

“I come back to day with the utmost learning for the Day .. and feel almost as though .. that from yesterday a guided hand brings me to the aspect of our forces which is never well known ..a prediction… I have learnt .. I have known .. I am in pride .. and knowledge of much that should remain filled with secrecy.”

He then proudly declared: “I am a citizen of Bharat .. and filled with admiration and pride for them that give their all, for us ..BHARAT MATA KI JAI (sic).”

Mumbai, July 31 (IANS) Actress Chitrangda Singh, who tried her hand at comedy for the first time with Housefull 5, revealed she was initially nervous. However, she said she had to let go of control and simply enjoy the madness.

“I was nervous, honestly. Everyone else had already tuned into the rhythm, and I was finding my feet,” Chitrangda said.

But she surprised herself.

“Once I caught the rhythm, I was having the time of my life,” revealed the actress.

The actress also did a couple of stunts for the film, directed by Tarun Mansukhani.

“No rehearsals just right into it on set. I was punching, kicking, and getting knocked around. I felt like a kid,” she shared.

For an actor more often seen in dramatic, layered or romantic avatars, essaying the chaotic and playful character named Maya was new to the actress, who tagged it as liberating.

“Honestly, it was liberating,” she said.

Chitrangda added: “I had to let go of control and just enjoy the madness.”

The film also stars Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Sonam Bajwa are just a few of the stars who are set to light up the screen. Also joining the cast are Nargis Fakhri, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, Chitrangada Singh, Fardeen Khan, Chunky Pandey, Johnny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Dino Morea, Ranjeet, Soundarya Sharma, Nikitin Dheer, and Akashdeep Sabir.

Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under the banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, “Housefull 5” released on June 6.

In June, the actress revealed that shooting for next film “Parikrama” was an emotional experience for her.

Chitrangda took to Instagram, where she shared a poster and several behind-the-scenes moments from the film, which is directed by Goutam Ghose. It also stars Marco Leonardi and Cristina Donadio.

She wrote as the caption: There are some films that entertain us .. and then there are some stories that are important to tell .. Parikrama is one such film that Ive had the pleasure to be part of .. shooting this film became an emotional experience for me ..”

The actress thanked Ghose, who is the only Indian to have been feted with the “Vittorio Di Sica” Award, Italy, in 1997.

Details about the film are under wraps.

Mumbai, July 31 (IANS) Filmmaker Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Shoojit Sircar have been elected as the jury for Short Film Competition category at the 2025 The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM).

Known for films such as Nil Battey Sannata and Bareilly Ki Barfi, Ashwiny said: “It’s an absolute honour to be on the jury of IFFM’s Short Film Competition. Short films are a powerful form of expression, often brimming with fresh ideas and daring perspectives.”

“I’m looking forward to witnessing stories that reflect truth, innovation, and the passion of young filmmakers,” she added.

Joining her is National Award-winning director, Shoojit Sircar, the man behind acclaimed films such as Piku, October, and Sardar Udham.

He said: “IFFM is a wonderful platform that brings together talent from across the globe, and I’m delighted to be part of this year’s short film jury. Short films, with their brevity and intensity, often leave a lasting impact. I’m eager to watch the entries and discover some pathbreaking voices.”

Festival Director Mitu Bhowmik Lange welcomed the new jury and said: “We are thrilled to have Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Shoojit Sircar join the IFFM Short Film Competition jury. They are among the most respected creative minds in Indian cinema today, and their eye for detail, story, and authenticity will elevate the judging process.”

She added: “IFFM has always aimed to be a launchpad for new talent, and having filmmakers of this calibre assess the submissions is both an honour and an inspiration for participating filmmakers.”

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan will hoist the Indian national flag at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2025 in August. The ceremony will take place as part of the festival’s annual Independence Day celebrations.

IFFM, backed by the Government of Victoria, stands as the largest Indian film festival held outside of India. With a legacy of showcasing powerful and diverse Indian stories, the festival continues to be a beacon of inclusivity and cinematic excellence.
