The new Sing! Hymnal from the Keith and Kristyn Getty is a valuable resource that will bless the church for many years to come. A beautiful design combined with theologically rich songs makes this a must-have hymnal.

Content: There is an extensive list of 497 songs in this hymnal—a combination of classic hymns from our past and modern hymns of the present. I enjoyed the fact that there were plenty of well-known favorites and some newer ones for me to learn. The various topics and indexes are great for searching for a song for corporate worship or when reading through devotionally. The other aspect I greatly enjoyed was the 403 liturgical readings provided throughout the hymnal. There were psalms, quotes from faithful authors, poems, etc. Those have all been helpful in my own personal devotions and would be a great asset in service planning, as well.

Design/Layout: The overall design and layout of the Sing hymnal is beautiful. The design itself, a combination of timeless and modern, reflects the content of the hymnal. The pages are easy to read, and the music is well-arranged on the page, which makes it a joy to read.

For Personal Devotion: In my personal devotions, I enjoy reading through a hymn each day. I find the combination of poetry and theology to be a helpful balm to my soul. It’s been a joy to use the Sing Getty Hymnal for that. The variety, topics, and depth of theology have all made the Sing hymnal a great addition to my devotional time. As well as the liturgical readings.

For Service Planning: I’ve been a worship leader for 10 years and am always looking for more resources to help me plan services that are theological, faithful, and gospel-driven. This is the type of resource that would be a great help to anyone in worship ministry but especially those who are involved in the planning of services at their church. The topics and indexes aid in the process. It’s also great to know that these hymns have been vetted for their faithfulness to the biblical text and for their theological content. This would be a great resource for any worship leader, worship planner, or pastor to have on their shelf.

Here’s the link to this resource: The Sing! Hymnal by Keith and Kristyn Getty. I highly recommend this resource to you. I also recommend it as a gift to the faithful pastor or worship leader at your church. It will be a beneficial resource to all in the church. Thanks to Westminster Theological Seminary Bookstore for sending me this copy to review.

Books & Theology has been a dream project for me these past few years. I am passionate about helping others see how faithful Christian resources can encourage believers in their walk and equip them for better serving Christ. I wanted to create a place where biblical, gospel-saturated resources were accessible, highlighted, and produced. And finally, that dream is becoming more of a reality.

The vision for Books & Theology is simple; I want this to be a platform that shares God’s truth and beauty through biblical resources for the glory of God and the good of others. We will seek to do that in two primary places: the Books & Theology blog and the Books & Theology podcast. We will focus on three main areas in our material:

Individual books and resources

Reading as a habit and practice

The Bible

These will be our core focus here at Books & Theology. Though there may be times we address other topics, these three will be the main focus of the blog and podcast.

A little about myself; my name is Zac Cleveland. I have spent the past ten years serving local churches and currently serve at a church located in Georgetown, Texas. I earned my Masters of Divinity through the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and am currently working on my certification in biblical counseling through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors. I love reading, the outdoors, photography, and teaching the Bible.

Thanks for learning more about the vision of Books & Theology. I’m very excited about the future of this project and would appreciate your support and prayers as we take this journey together.
