The 24-year-old rapper, whose real name is Tione Jayden Merritt, was arrested and booked on suspicion of misdemeanor disorderly conduct-affray, according to reports from PEOPLE.

Merritt was arrested by police on Monday, April 6, before being booked in Broward County Jail. His bond is set for $500. The Bronx native’s arrest comes shortly after Offset was shot in an incident outside a casino in Seminole, Fla.

“We can confirm Offset was shot and is currently at the hospital receiving medical care. He is stable and being closely monitored,” a spokesperson for Offset told People.

The Seminole Police Department clarified that Lil Tjay’s arrest was “in connection with the incident that took place Monday night at a valet area outside of Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood.” A second person was also detained at the scene, though they have not been charged. This investigation remains ongoing while authorities attempt to identify additional individuals involved in the shooting.

“One person has been charged in connection with the incident that took place Monday night at a valet area outside of Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood,” the statement reads. “Tione Jayden Merritt has been charged with disorderly conduct-affray, a first-degree misdemeanor under Florida Statute 870.01. The incident began with an affray, or fight. Merritt was booked into the Broward County Jail late last night.”

“A second person detained at the scene has not been charged,” they continue. “The investigation to identify one or more additional persons involved in the incident is ongoing. The injured individual remains at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Fla., with a non-life threatening injury.”

Dawn Florio, Lil Tjay’s lawyer, issued a statement on Instagram prior to his arrest denying “false rumors that Lil Tjay was involved” in the shooting.

“Lil Tjay has not been shot, nor has Lil Tjay been charged with any shooting. Any reporting to the contrary is false,” she wrote at the time.

Florio has not responded to the new reports confirming Lil Tjay’s arrest.

According to Vogue, it was built around an “All Shades of Melanin” theme; the celebration wasn’t just beautiful to look at; it was a full-on statement about Blackness, heritage, and the kind of love that feels both modern and deeply rooted.

Vogue and PEOPLE report that the “All Shades of Melanin” concept showed up everywhere, from the rich brown tones worn by the bridal party to the couple’s emphasis on incorporating Junelle’s Jamaican heritage and supporting Black-owned businesses.

The ceremony was also emotionally charged as both the bride and groom shed tears.

“It was definitely a ceremony of unity,” said Junelle to Vogue. “It was just amazing to see the different cultures mesh into one. Everybody was having fun, interacting, and filled with love.”

“I already knew I was gonna cry, I just didn’t know when,” said Noah. But when Janelle read the title of her vows, I was like, ‘Oh, yep, this is the part. This is when I cry.’ Her hands shook so much that she couldn’t hold the vow book, so I ended up holding it for her. But I was also crying, so I couldn’t wipe away my own tears. It was a super magical moment.”

Junelle wore a Pantora Bridal gown, Noah wore a chocolate-colored Musika suit, and the overall color style gave the whole ceremony a warm, regal feel instead of the usual copy-and-paste wedding aesthetic people are used to seeing. It looked like a celebration designed by people who knew exactly who they were and didn’t feel the need to water any of it down.

And the details only made it better. The ceremony featured emotional vows, a gospel performance by Tasha Cobbs Leonard, and a reception packed with dancing, fashion changes, and fireworks that closed out the night like a movie.

Noah even gave his groomsmen Omega watches, while Vogue noted personalized anime-inspired suit linings that added a little of his personality to the formalwear.

For the reception, both the bride and groom wore second looks. Junelle donned a shorter gown complete with gloves and a train, while Noah ditched his bow tie and vest.

The happy couple also noted that they had perfect weather for their ceremony, and while there had been a forecast of rain the entire week, it held off until the very end. After the last firework burst, rain began to fall, making everything picture perfect.

“I think that was magical,” said Junelle.

Following days of controversy over its choice to have the artist formerly known as Kanye West headline all three days, the music festival has been completely scrapped. This decision comes following the United Kingdom denying the rapper entry into the country due to his antisemitic hate speech over the years.

“The Home Office has withdrawn YE’s ETA, denying him entry into the United Kingdom,” a statement from the festival reads, per Variety. “As a result, Wireless Festival is cancelled, and refunds will be issued to all ticket holders.

The fest went on to say that “multiple stakeholders were consulted in advance of booking YE and no concerns were highlighted at the time.”

The statement continued, “Antisemitism in all its forms is abhorrent, and we recognise the real and personal impact these issues have had. As YE said today, he acknowledges that words alone are not enough, and in spite of this still hopes to be given the opportunity to begin a conversation with the Jewish community in the UK.”

In response to the cancellation of Wireless Festival, a spokesman for Campaign Against Antisemitism said:

“With no headliner and multiple sponsors dropping out, Wireless has had to cancel the festival. “How did it come to this? Apparently ‘no concerns were highlighted’ about Kanye West at the time of the booking. Who were they consulting? A wall? That’s what happens when the only stakeholders you speak to are those who stand to make a profit.”

The group concluded,

“It’s nice that now Wireless is saying ‘Antisemitism in all its forms is abhorrent’ when just a few hours ago the festival promoter was saying we all need to forgive Kanye for declaring himself a full-blown Nazi only recently.”

The organization said earlier that the government made the “right decision” by stopping Ye from coming to the U.K.

On Tuesday, prior to the event’s cancelation, Ye said in an update to his Wall Street Journal letter that he “would be grateful” to meet members of the Jewish community in the U.K. He added that he had been following the conversation surrounding his Wireless appearance and wanted “to address it directly.”

“My only goal is to come to London and present a show of change, bringing unity, peace, and love through my music,” the updated statement reads. “I would be grateful for the opportunity to meet with members of the Jewish community in the U.K. in person, to listen.”

“I know words aren’t enough—I’ll have to show change through my actions,” he concluded. “If you’re open, I’m here.”

Despite being the person who called for help, Cater was suddenly treated like a suspect. Officers reportedly ordered her out of her car, ignoring her attempts to explain that she had already been instructed by other officers to remain inside. When she questioned why she was being detained, she was told they didn’t have to explain anything—a chilling reminder of how quickly basic rights can evaporate in the presence of unchecked authority.

The lawsuit alleges that officers yanked open her car door and dragged her out by her feet, causing her to fall to the ground and leaving her physically exposed in public. This wasn’t a minor scuffle. This was an elderly woman, thrown to the pavement by multiple officers, suffering injuries so severe she was hospitalized for four days with damage to her arms, back, shoulders, and knees. Her teeth were reportedly broken in the process, underscoring just how brutal the encounter was.

“Seminole Police were on site immediately and the situation was contained quickly. Two individuals have been detained by police. The investigation is ongoing. The site is secure and there is no threat to the public. Operations continue as normal.”

Celina Powell mentioned that he would spend days at a time in casinos when she put him on blast in January. Last week, he was spotted in a casino by a fan who wanted to take a picture together. You know I don’t play about my money. So my credit card, my AmEx, is connected to my phone. Every single time something is purchased with my AmEx, I get a notification like a n***a is texting me. Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding!” she said, noting that it doesn’t matter if she’s shopping online or at the bodega.

“Why did I see a $40,000 purchase from Saks on my AmEx? Of course, I got the notification right away, so I’m like, ‘What the f**k?'”

At first, the only plausible explanation was that her stylist, Kollin Carter, might have had his assistant buy some clothes for her. It still seemed “kinda weird,” because Cardi said she hasn’t been shopping or needed more clothes while booked and busy on her Little Miss Drama Tour.

“So, 35 minutes pass, and then there’s a $20,000 purchase from Apple! Right away, I already knew some weird s**t was happening! Before I even called my accountant, my accountant called me,” Cardi said, explaining that she has a professional who also gets purchase notifications and doesn’t play about her money either.

“I think for one our bodies talk to us a lot. Our bodies will tell us, and I think it’s important to listen to that and to not allow our passions begin to feel like any other thing than our passion and our purpose. That means you might need to take a step back, regather and regroup, and then approach it freshly.”

That same intention shows up in her music.

Sevyn’s pen game is undeniable, but she also understands that not every hit is meant for her. Sometimes the real power is knowing when to pass it on.

“If we’re in a room and we’re creating something special, I don’t care if you’re the security guard in the corner that’s trying to be cool, if you’re the engineer that’s focused on more of the technical aspect, or if you’re somebody that’s just sitting in there just chilling on your phone.

If the right song plays and the right chords hit, everybody in the room should have the same reaction. And for me, that’s what it always comes down to because I’m creating music for the world, for people to feel something outside of the four walls of a studio.”

She continued,

“I feel like sometimes you know when to give a record away, and then sometimes you don’t know when to give a record away. I think that most importantly having good counsel and good people around you with good ears and who really have your best creative interest at heart, those people are important to have around you.

Especially when you’re a singer-songwriter and sometimes you have an attachment to a song that, yes, your attachment is good and true and it’s honest and it’s pure, but maybe the purpose of the song is to come through a different vessel and maybe it’s not yours all the time.”

Miles Chamley Watson is bringing that same energy to the world of fencing and beyond.

According to WKBW (ABC News 7), the Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office determined Shah Alam died from a perforated ulcer triggered by hypothermia and dehydration. His body was found Feb. 24 near Perry Street by the KeyBank Center.

WKBW reports that Shah Alam had been released on bail from the Erie County Holding Center five days before his death. After his release, Border Patrol agents took him into custody on an immigration detainer. Federal authorities later determined he was not eligible for deportation.

Rather than returning him to his family, agents reportedly dropped Shah Alam off at a Tim Hortons in Riverside, where only the drive-thru was open at the time. Shah Alam’s family said neither they nor their attorney was notified by federal authorities that he was dropped off at the coffee shop, and he did not read, write, or use electronic devices. They also alleged that the coffee shop was not near their residence.

Terry Connors, the attorney representing Shah Alam’s family, said the circumstances surrounding his death raise serious concerns.

“Really horrible, tragic death,” Connors said.

Connors said Shah Alam was not equipped to navigate the situation alone.

“This poor man was placed in a hostile environment. From which it was unlikely he would ever be able to escape,” Connors said. “I mean, he was blind in one eye, didn’t speak our language.”

Family Waited Outside But Never Saw Him

WKBW reports that Shah Alam’s family was waiting outside the holding center on Delaware Avenue to take him home upon his release.

“Family members were waiting outside of the holding center for him on Delaware Avenue, just prepared to take him home,” Connors said.

“They brought him food because of the cultural differences in the food that he was served at the holding center,” he said. “They were there and prepared to do it, and he never came out that side door where all released prisoners usually come out.”

What Happened Before?

As previously reported by BOSSIP, Shah Alam was described as a vulnerable man who was nearly blind and unable to speak English when he was released from custody. BOSSIP cited CNN, which reports that Shah Alam had been held at Erie County Jail for nearly a year before resolving his case with a misdemeanor plea deal.

Customs and Border Protection agents transported Shah Alam to a Tim Hortons they believed was near his home, but the address used was incorrect, and his family was never notified of his release or location.

The Buffalo Police Department launched an investigation into the actions of Border Patrol, raising broader concerns about accountability and how vulnerable individuals are treated in immigration custody.

Investigations Continue As Officials Review Case

WKBW states the Erie County District Attorney’s Office is investigating Shah Alam’s death, while the New York State Attorney General’s Office is conducting a separate review. There are also calls for the county legislature to examine how the sheriff’s office handled his release.

No criminal charges or lawsuits have been filed at this time.

Connors said a criminal case remains uncertain but has not been ruled out.

“It’s unlikely…a criminal prosecution,” Connors said. “But it’s not being ruled out because the district attorney is looking at it, but there will likely be civil litigation that will follow, and that’s where you’ll get most of the answers.”

As authorities continue their review, the homicide ruling shifts the focus toward whether the decisions made after Shah Alam’s release directly contributed to his death.

After it was announced that Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, would be headlining all three days of London’s Wireless Festival this year, the event was publicly criticized by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, London Mayor Sadiq Khan, and multiple Jewish leaders.

Little Britain star Matt Lucas directly called out Pepsi for their involvement in the festival, which led to the brand pulling out. British alcoholic beverage leader Diageo also stopped their involvement.

“Have you released a song called ‘Heil Hitler’? Have you sold t-shirts with swastikas on them? Have you promised to go ‘death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE’? If so, congratulations! You may be eligible to headline @WirelessFest, sponsored by @pepsiuk,” Lucas tweeted on Saturday, April 4.

After that post is when Pepsi withdrew from the event, which is significant considering that the festival had also officially been called “Pepsi presents Wireless.”

“Pepsi has decided to withdraw its sponsorship of Wireless Festival,” a Pepsi spokesperson told USA Today.

Diageo, owner of the Johnnie Walker and Captain Morgan brands, told The Independent on Sunday evening that it had withdrawn, as well.

“We have informed the organizers of our concerns and as it stands, Diageo will not sponsor the 2026 Wireless festival.”

Variety reported on Monday, April 6, that Rockstar Energy is the third sponsor to pull out, citing an unnamed source who allegedly confirmed that the energy drinks company was dropping out due to Ye’s involvement.

Ye is currently navigating his attempt at a comeback tour after releasing a new album, Bully. He’s currently touring the U.S. for the first time since 2021, which comes on the heels of years of antisemitic statements, describing himself as a Nazi, and selling T-shirts emblazoned with swastikas.

Ye’s since apologized for those statements, but many critics don’t buy his sincerity—especially since that apology came shortly before announcing his tour. Ye took out a full-page advertisement in The Wall Street Journal to apologize for years of antisemitic remarks.

The Wireless Festival will go down at Finsbury Park in London from July 10 to July 12. Festival organizers previously told the BBC that Ye’s “UK comeback will be an extraordinary chapter in Wireless’s story,” following his last performance in the U.K. in 2015.

According to People, during a recent appearance on the March 31 episode of NPR’s Fresh Air podcast, the 53-year-old singer sat down with Tonya Mosley to recount a legendary, albeit humbling, first interaction with the late Aretha Franklin. What makes their story hit even harder is how long Rebecca was carrying this in silence. She opened up about dealing with numbness, tremors, exhaustion, and the kind of emotional weight that can come with a life-changing diagnosis, especially when you do not have clear answers at first.

“I hadn’t slept in three days [due to the disease],” said Rebecca in an interview with People for this week’s issue detailing when she reached her breaking point. “And I felt like I wanted to die.”

By the time she got the Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2015, she had already spent years trying to understand what was happening to her body. Reports say Rebecca is among fewer than 100 patients in the country to receive the treatment, and she plans to have the other side treated later this year. Rebecca told the Today Show that she’s able to do things like write her name with her right hand again, and balance better, which shows just how meaningful the improvement has been.

Despite many people condemning anyone who chose to support Ye in his attempt for a comeback, some have pointed out that women attending the concert got more backlash than the men who did. Dave Chappelle, The Game, Paul Pierce, Kevin Gates, and more celebs were seen at the same show—but Chlöe seems to be getting the most smoke.

One reason for that, beside the always-present misogyny, is Bailey’s connection to Beyoncé. She is signed to the singer’s label and management company, Parkwood Entertainment, and has long been praised by B.

While Ye used to have a strong connection to Beyoncé and her husband, Jay-Z, that friendship is likely 6 feet under. After years of speculated tension between the former friends and collaborators, Ye tweeted horrific allegations about the couple’s children, which seems pretty impossible to come back from.

As for Chlöe, she chose not to respond to the backlash, instead, taking to social media on Easter Sunday to sing.

Police officers engaging in wanton violence against citizens has gotten beyond exhausting.

The two reports from the El Paso Times and KTSM document yet another disturbing instance of police violence, one that feels painfully familiar in both its brutality and the system’s predictable response.

At the center of both articles is a viral video showing officers from the El Paso (Texas) Police Department violently arresting a woman inside a home. According to reporting, officers were attempting to take the woman into custody on an outstanding warrant tied to a family violence allegation. But what unfolds in the footage goes far beyond a routine arrest—it is chaotic, aggressive, and deeply troubling.

The video shows multiple officers grappling with the woman as she screams in distress. She repeatedly cries out that she “can’t breathe,” a phrase that has become synonymous with some of the most horrifying cases of police violence in recent memory. At one point, despite already being physically restrained, an officer punches her in the head. 

Even more disturbing are the details surrounding her condition. A bystander—believed to be her mother—can be heard telling officers that the woman has autism, raising serious questions about whether the police made any attempt to de-escalate the situation or adjust their approach.

“This my home, and they just beat up my daughter in front of me. She was coming out peacefully, (they) tased her, he beat her up and she has autism,” she says.

Instead, the encounter appears to escalate rapidly, with the woman claiming she had already been tased multiple times during the arrest. 

Both outlets note that the department responded in the most predictable way possible: by announcing an internal investigation. The official statement acknowledges “community concern” and that the situation is under review.  But these statements ring hollow, especially in the face of clear video evidence showing a restrained woman being struck in the head.

The woman was ultimately booked into jail on charges including family violence and resisting arrest before being released on bond. Yet, the focus on her alleged offenses does little to justify—or distract from—the sheer level of force used against her. Watching officers escalate to punches against someone already subdued is not just excessive, it’s emblematic of a system that continues to treat violence as a first resort rather than a last.

The backlash following UConn Coach Geno Auriemma’s outburst at South Carolina coach Dawn Staley in the closing seconds of their national semifinal matchup on Friday (April 3) night has drawn a considerable amount of media attention and support from fans of both teams. Coach Auriemma sparked the heated exchange by allegedly accusing Coach Staley of not shaking his hand before the game, an accusation refuted by a video aired by ESPN that shows the two exchanging handshakes. 

As Staley walked away from Auriemma, she yelled, “I will beat Geno’s ass”—a line that has since gone viral with at least one sports bar adding the phrase to its marquee. 

In an interview on Saturday, one of Coach Auriemma’s former star players, retired WNBA player Diana Taurasi, downplayed the exchange between the rival coaches, saying it was nothing more than “two people competing at the highest level that have a tremendous amount of respect for each other.” 

But for many Black women, Auriemma’s behavior reflects a familiar dynamic many of us have encountered in the workplace where no matter how hard we work, we still face discrimination and disrespect from white colleagues. 

Many of us are taught before we set foot in our first office jobs that to be a Black woman in the workplace means we have to work twice as hard to be twice as good, only to get half as far. 

According to a 2020 study released by Lean In and McKinsey and Company, Black women “experience a wider range of microaggressions” and are “more likely to have their judgment questioned in their area of expertise and to be asked to provide additional evidence of their competence.” 

As a longtime newsroom leader who has occupied top high level editorial positions at some of the top news organizations in the country, I’ve experienced this more times than I can count. I’ve had my editorial judgment questioned in ways and with a level of veracity my white peers do not experience. I have never been accused of not shaking someone’s hand before a game, but I have experienced managers dwelling on trivialities unrelated to my work and calling into question my personal ethics and professionalism.

Over the past several decades, Coach Dawn Staley has emerged as a legendary figure in women’s basketball who has shown she’s willing to work twice as hard. 

The four-time U.S. Olympic gold medal winner (three as a player and one as head coach in 2021) played seven seasons in the WNBA, and for most of those seasons, she simultaneously coached Temple University’s women’s basketball team. 

In 2008, Staley joined the University of South Carolina Gamecocks as head coach, and she built the program into the powerhouse it is today. During her tenure, the Gamecocks won their first national championship in 2017, followed by two more championship wins in 2022 and 2024. 

Staley’s successes have earned her the unique distinction of being the only person to win the prestigious Naismith Award as both a player and a coach. Twice as good, indeed.

What makes Auriemma’s accusations all the more appalling is that Staley has also proven to be twice as kind behind the scenes. She’s earned a reputation for showing compassion and care that goes beyond what could reasonably be labeled as good coaching or good sportsmanship. 

After the Gamecocks defeated the Southern University women’s basketball team at the start of this year’s March Madness tournament, she gifted the Southern University players with Louis Vuitton perfume. When asked by a reporter what prompted her offering, she explained that it was a small gesture for the players after a couple of the young women had complimented her and asked her what scent she was wearing. 

Staley is also known for greeting the long line of people seated courtside in the media row, something she did prior to the start of Friday’s UConn game. 

When reporters asked Auriemma to comment on what had occurred in the final seconds of that game, he stood by his words and actions and withheld an apology for his behavior. He didn’t feel it was warranted. 

While Auriemma was standing his ground, Staley continued to show up as she always has. During the UCLA v. Texas matchup that followed her team’s win, she was seen in the stands graciously posing for pictures and signing autographs for fans. 

In an interview early Saturday, Auriemma was asked by a reporter if he had a personal relationship with Staley, and he said “Nah, not really. We don’t have a lot in common.” While Auriemma went on to say he respected the work Staley had done to build the Gamecocks basketball program into the strong program it is today, his dismissiveness about whether the two had a personal connection was at best peculiar and at worst unnecessary. 

It is well known that college basketball coaches spend a considerable amount of their personal time thinking, talking, and obsessing over basketball. As coaches of elite teams, Auriemma and Staley compete for the same titles and live the same year-round grind and high pressure that only a handful of similarly situated coaches can relate to and understand. 

While I don’t expect rival coaches to be best friends, Auriemma could have chosen not to respond to that part of the question and simply shared how much respect he has for Staley as a coach. After all, Auriemma is a seasoned coach and well-versed in how to maneuver tough questions from reporters. He knew better.

The framing Auriemma chose, coming from a white coach about a Black woman coach, echoes a familiar pattern for Black people in the workplace. We are subjected to offhanded remarks, and our excellence is treated as a separate rather than shared experience, even when the work, pressure, and stakes that go into achieving success are virtually identical. 

According to Lean In’s 2025 annual report on Women in the Workplace, these unique stressors for Black women in the workplace are taking a toll on our health. The researchers noted that “almost 8 in 10 senior-level Black women have been frequently burned out in the past year, and even more are concerned about their job security– more than other senior leaders.” This, at a time when companies are increasingly seeing diversity and DEI as a liability, and labor data show that Black women are facing higher rates of unemployment when compared to the general population. More than 300,000 Black women became newly unemployed in 2025, a sharp rise.

After demands for Auriemma to apologize reached a fever pitch, on Saturday afternoon, UConn released a statement from Coach Auriemma that read in part, “There’s no excuse for how I handled the end of the game vs. South Carolina. It’s unlike what I do and what our standard is here at Connecticut.” He then offered a broad apology to “the staff and the team at South Carolina,” saying his reaction was “uncalled for.” 

Missing from Auriemma’s apology was any direct mention of Staley, something that a broad cross-section of fans, celebrities, and sports enthusiasts took issue with on social media. Several demanded that he issue another statement and apologize to Staley directly. His statement once again detracts from Staley and her team’s success.

As the late Toni Morrison once explained: 

“The function, the very serious function of racism is distraction. It keeps you from doing your work. It keeps you explaining, over and over again, your reason for being. Somebody says you have no language and you spend twenty years proving that you do. Somebody says your head isn’t shaped properly so you have scientists working on the fact that it is. Somebody says you have no art, so you dredge that up. Somebody says you have no kingdoms, so you dredge that up. None of this is necessary. There will always be one more thing.”

For Geno Auriemma, on Friday night, that “one more thing” was his accusation that Coach Staley missed a pre-game handshake. That unwieldy accusation prompted the press and fans alike to go on the hunt and offer up video footage that might show whether she missed one or both customary pre-game handshakes. On Saturday, that “one more thing” was a lackluster statement from Auriemma when Staley deserved a genuine (and direct) apology.

What this “one more thing” distracted from was the reality that Dawn Staley outcoached him and her team outplayed his. He robbed Staley and her team of the usual celebratory cheers and hugs at the end of a double-digit win. His behavior left no space to give the Gamecocks credit for their win against a team that had gone undefeated for 54 games before South Carolina single-handedly snapped their winning streak and ended their dreams of back-to-back championship wins. 

He also distracted from the usual post-game analysis of what would have surely included data illustrating the Gamecocks were not only better prepared but the better team. The analysis would have included praising the stellar defense played by Gamecocks’ senior Raven Johnson, who is positioned to be a first round pick in the upcoming WNBA draft. 

As the viewership and fan base of women’s basketball continue to expand, and with Morrison’s words in mind, the point is that we should not fall into the habit of litigating every moment or handshake, but to return to what this is really about. 

Sunday, a championship game is happening between the South Carolina Gamecocks and the UCLA Bruins. This game will be coached by two phenomenal women and the players who take the court are all members of number one seeded teams. So, as I sit down and watch the two teams duke it out for a championship ring, I will be keeping focus on where it belongs, on the game, and the people on and off the court who continue to elevate it. Oh, and GOOOOO Gamecocks! 

Now, someone please run me one of those “I will beat Geno’s ass” t-shirts. Whether the Gamecocks win or lose, I’m wearing it through next season.

While the arena was packed with fans and a notable list of Black celebrities, the atmosphere was a complex mix of musical nostalgia and the heavy baggage of West’s recent history. Despite the high-production value of the Bully era, the rapper continues to navigate a fractured relationship with the public following years of antisemitic rhetoric, racist outbursts, and a political alignment that many in the Black community found alienating.

The most discussed moment of the evening occurred when the legendary Lauryn Hill emerged through a cloud of smoke. The crowd erupted as Hill launched into “All Falls Down,” a track that famously sampled her 2002 work. For West, appearing alongside an icon like Hill, seemingly serves the purpose of winning back former friends and the support of the Black community. West has frequently compared his new album, Bully, to Hill’s 1998 masterpiece, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, seemingly attempting to align his current era with her legacy of neo-soul specialty.

Hill remained on stage for a significant portion of the set, even bringing out her sons, Zion and YG Marley. While the musical quality was undeniable, some critics argue that these high-profile collaborations are an effort to buy back the grace he lost during his most erratic periods.

The guest list extended to current heavyweights, with Travis Scott joining West to perform “Father,” the lead single from the Bully album. Involving Scott, who is often a controversial figure himself, highlights a segment of the industry that remains loyal to West regardless of his former opinions.

The show also featured André Troutman and CeeLo Green, both of whom added to the sense of a unified front. Meanwhile, West’s wife, Bianca Censori, was seen dancing in the VIP section, maintaining the supportive inner circle. However, this does little to address the rightfully earned concerns held by many who feel West’s past comments have caused irreparable harm to his standing as a figure of the Black community.

TMZ also reported that West’s eldest daughter, North, took the stage to rap “Bless Me” and “Piercing on My Hand.” The massive turnout of Black celebrities has also reignited the debate over cancel culture. Comedian Donnell Rawlings recently suggested that the Black community may be more inclined toward forgiveness than white audiences.

As previously reported, Ye recently issued an apology, specifically to the Jewish community, for his past controversial comments.

“This, for me, as evidenced by the letter, isn’t about reviving my commerciality,” he said. “This is because these remorseful feelings were so heavy on my heart and weighing on my spirit. I owe a huge apology once again for everything that I said that hurt the Jewish and Black communities in particular. All of it went too far.”

He also detailed the struggle he has had with his mental health and bipolar disorder.

“I feel really blessed to be able to sit here with you today and just take accountability,” Ye said. “I was dealing with some various issues, bipolar also, so it would take the ideas I had and take them to an extreme where I would forget about the protection of the people around me, or myself.”

Cardi B gave Lil’ Kim her well-deserved flowers for being the architect of mainstream female rap after the pair shared the stage during the former’s tour stop in NYC.

During her sold-out show at Madison Square Garden, Cardi brought out, arguably, the most influential female rapper of all time in the Queen Bee. The Garden crowd erupted as Kim hit the stage and Cardi could be seen geeking out backstage before joining her. Kim posted photos and videos from the iconic moment with a special message for the “Magnet” rapper.

First of all, who thought entertainment for an illustrious sorority’s 3rd South Atlantic Regional Conference and booked Trick Daddy? All of social media wants to know because now the Miami legend claims they have have him “f**ked up” for expecting anything less than his standard Slip-n-Slide shenanigans. “Trick loves the kids” but let’s not get carried away!

On Friday, April 3, video clips went viral with a crowd seemingly full of confused and concerned elders watching Trick perform his classic hits like “J.O.D.D.” (“Jump On Da D**k”). While hyping up the crowd at the Step and Stroll Competition, he yelled, “If you want your p***y ate, put your f**king hands up!” This isn’t shocking to anyone familiar with his over-the-top and gritty music. However, as some attendees began to walk out, Trick’s microphone and music were cut off early.

“Let’s give Trick Daddy a round of applause! We went a little to far,” an unseen woman announced over the sound system. According to a statement from South Atlantic Regional Director of the Alpha Kappa Alpha, Tiffany Moore Russell, she was the one who cut the show short after it she claims it violated a previous agreement with Trick Daddy.

“We met several times with him and his team to detail our requirements, including attire, language, and specific songs. Unfortunately, our requirements were ignored,” Russell wrote.

“The language, the lyrics, and the comments made by the artist were not acceptable. I ended the performance because of the disrespect for our organization and our brand,” she continued.

All it takes is a few episodes of Love & Hip-Hop: Miami to know many have tried and failed to tell Trick Daddy what to do. When the organization tried it following the viral backlash, the raunchy restauranteur basically kept the same energy from one of his many Trina collaborations: “Uh-huh. Ok. What’s Up? Shut Up!”

A plant-based powerhouse is ready to step into the Bravosphere and speak truth amid a wave of headlines.

“I’m not just an entrepreneur, I’m a human being that has highs, that has lows, and people can see that and relate. She’s tangible,” said #RHOA’s resident restaurateur.

Pinky Cole is joining season 17 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta at a pivotal moment when she’s balancing life as a wife, mom, and CEO while opening up about both her wins and her setbacks.

“If you’re going to do this show, you’ve got to give it everything,” the Slutty Vegan founder told BOSSIP. You’ve got to be open and be an open book.”

That openness includes letting viewers in on one of the most difficult chapters of her journey.

After a company restructure that temporarily cost her ownership of Slutty Vegan, Pinky ultimately bought the brand back, which later came alongside a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing and mounting financial pressures tied to loans and tax obligations.

She told BOSSIP that at one point, everything was falling apart behind the scenes.

“Here it is, I’m raising $250,000 for people, and my company is falling apart,” she said. “I died on the inside before anybody else went to my funeral.”

Even as recent headlines swirled about creditors seizing her Georgia home and changing the locks, Pinky says she had already done the emotional work.

“Before the world knew what was going on, I suffered in silence,” she said. “So by the time all of the news started to hit the media, I had already begun my healing process.”

And now she is flipping the narrative with a series of skits tied to the negative press she’s received. Her most recent spoofed her getting the keys back to her rental property with a reenactment of the infamous Ms. Parker scene from Friday.

“You going to troll me? I’m going to troll you back,” she told BOSSIP with a laugh.

Still, Pinky is clear-eyed about the reality of public scrutiny.

“Controversy is what sells,” she said. “But at the end of the day, I’ve got a thick skin because I had to suffer alone by myself.”

Season 17 will show that journey in full, including the breakdown of her business and what it took to rebuild it.

“I really go deep into the breakdown in my business,” she said. “Not as a victim, but I am sharing my story so that you can feel empowered and inspired.”

She continued,

“I’m not just an entrepreneur,” she added. “I’m a human being that has highs, that has lows, and people can see that and relate. She’s tangible.”

Beyond the business, #RHOA watchers will also get a closer look at her personal life, including her marriage to Derrick “Big Dave” Hayes, the CEO of Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks, whom she wed in 2023.

“He didn’t want to do it in the beginning, if we’re being honest,” she said.

According to Pinky, they went back and forth about putting their lives on display, but she ultimately saw the bigger picture.

“We are Atlanta royalty. Why wouldn’t we utilize this opportunity?” she said.

And when it comes to the fellow Housewives, Pinky says the dynamic is exactly what you would expect.

“We got a couple screws loose,” she joked to BOSSIP with a laugh. “Sometimes I’m at the table like, ‘What did I sign up for?’”

Still, beneath the tension, she sees something deeper.

“It feels like a sisterhood, and sisterhood is not always going to be easy.”

She has also found her footing alongside fellow newcomer and her Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., sister K. Michelle, who she also considers a true sister within the cast.

“That’s my sister,” Pinky said. “I don’t think I would have been able to do this without her.”

Their bond extends beyond filming and into real life, offering both support and strategy as they navigate the group together.

At the same time, Pinky is clear about the energy she brings into the space.

“I can’t be tested,” she said. “I know who I am and I know whose I am.”

And at the end of the day, she’s showing up exactly as she is.

“I’m different,” she said. “And I think that’s what this show needed.”

Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas is worried that four letters—MAGA—may have tainted her legacy.

Over the past week, Chilli has had to answer for her alleged allegiance to Donald Trump and his conservative cronies; however, the “No Scrubs” singer’s vehement denial landed on deaf ears. Former fans of TLC have all but demanded that they be removed from the tour they are planning to co-headline with Salt-N-Pepa and En Vogue, while others have taken to pointing out proof of Chilli’s MAGA values by going through her following list and liked posts.

“She’s taking this all very seriously, and this shouldn’t supercede a legacy that includes the empowerment of black women,” a source close to Chilli told PageSix. “She’s not that person. She really isn’t MAGA. She voted for President Obama twice. There’s no MAGA community around her. She looks at MAGA as [the Jan. 6th insurrectionists].”

People love to dogpile so it remains to be seen how Chilli’s image rehabilitation will work. If patterns are any indication, she’ll be held to a much higher standard than her male counterparts who’ve publicly supported Trump—Kanye, Nelly, Snoop Dogg, to name a fe—-and will likely always be associated with what people believe to be true rather than the truth itself.

So far, there’s been no announcement about TLC being removed from the It’s Iconic Tour and the other ladies seem to have rallied behind Chilli despite the controversy. Salt of Salt-N-Pepa showed her support in a comment under Chilli’s post about the whole ordeal.

“Chilli please keep your pretty head all the way up sister, this world is very quick to believe anything and everything posted on social media,” Salt said in a comment. “Quick to crucify and slow to forgive. Even when you straighten it out haters will always hate. We know you and your heart.”

Here’s to hoping it’ll all be a little less unpretty in time for the tour.
