The epic collab between “the world’s No. 1 kid-free cruise line” and TikTok signaled a defining new chapter for both brands which trended across social media while the largest creator activation in Virgin Voyages’ history unfolded at sea.

“Creators are some of the most trusted media channels on the planet right now because they care about their audiences,” said Nathan Rosenberg, CMO at Virgin Voyages.

“They never really had an opportunity to share their point of view, share their experience of what happened, good and bad, the joys, the highs, the lows,” director Kevin Shaw told BOSSIP.

That absence of perspective sits at the heart of the film’s emotional pull. What was once framed as a controversy is now being revisited as a layered coming-of-age story about young Black boys who were celebrated, then questioned, all in real time.

According to OWN, the documentary chronicles the 2014 Jackie Robinson West Little League team, a group of young boys from Chicago’s South Side who became the first all-Black team to win the U.S. Little League Championship. Their victory captivated the nation, but that triumph was later stripped due to residency disputes, sparking widespread backlash and debate.

“It was a surreal moment [there was] a lot of excitement, a lot of joy,” said Darold “DJ” Butler, reflecting on that summer. “We supposed to be champions, we knew we deserved this moment.”

That joy extended far beyond the field. For many, the team represented something deeper than baseball.

“We were going out there and showing the world that an all-African American team can play baseball just as good as anybody else,” Butler added.

When Celebration Turned Into Scrutiny

What makes One Golden Summer resonate years later is not just the win, but what followed. The film does not shy away from the emotional toll the controversy took on the players, who were just children at the time.

That sudden shift is something Shaw says was never fully explored in the media at the time.

“There’s a lot of different issues that weren’t covered by the mainstream media,” Shaw explained to BOSSIP. “You had that label of Chicago that sometimes is a negative label… and not really recognizing that these guys were coming from middle class families.”

By revisiting the story now, the film challenges those assumptions while highlighting the real-life impact of public narratives placed on young Black athletes.

As the players matured, so did their understanding of what they experienced. What once felt confusing became formative.

“It definitely molded my emotions… how I’m able to get over certain things,” Tré Hondras shared. “It was a character-building situation.”

For Butler, the backlash became fuel rather than defeat.

“If somebody hating on you, must be doing a good thing,” he said. “Why let people that wasn’t in that dugout affect that?”

That resilience is a defining thread throughout the documentary, showing how each player processed the moment differently while still holding onto the pride of what they accomplished together.

A Brotherhood That Outlasted The Game

While titles can be taken away, the bond between the team remains intact. That brotherhood is one of the film’s most enduring takeaways.

“We don’t need to see each other every day to be brothers,” Butler said. “When we see each other… it’s like we hung out yesterday.”

Tré Hondras echoed that sentiment, grounding their connection in shared experience.

“We’ve been through the same battles… the same pain,” he said. “That relationship is a wonderful thing to have.”

Shaw hopes audiences walk away recognizing that the story extends far beyond a revoked title.

“I want people to kind of re-examine, how a story is portrayed and through what lens,” he said.

At its core, One Golden Summer reframes the narrative. It is not just about what was lost, but what was never taken.

Now, more than a decade later, the players are no longer just a headline. Through One Golden Summer, they are finally the authors of their own story.

Ashlee Jenae’s fiancé, the man many believe to be at least partly responsible for her death, is skating on some very thin ice following some new TMZ reporting. A “source close to” McCann says that he and his family have been subjected to death threats online as social media users relentlessly pepper the 45-year-old with accusatory questions and outright blame for Jenae’s, born Ashly Robinson, untimely and highly suspicious death.

The source tells TMZ that the allegations “hurt(s) him deeply” because he was so in love with the 31-year-old influencer and would never lay hands on her, or any woman. It is said that he was willing to work with police in their investigation and will continue to do so.

McCann also says that he has been subject to “racist” attacks because he was in a swirlly interracial relationship with a young Black woman as rich white man. Doesn’t take much for the public to look at the situation and give the story we have been fed an incredulous side-eye. The hotel staff has openly admitted that Ashlee and Joe got into a huge fight one night during their stay at the Zuri Hotel in Zanzibar, Tanzania. As BOSSIP previously reported, the argument was so heated that the staff separated the couple and placed them in different rooms. Shortly thereafter, Ashlee allegedly took her own life.

Let the source tell it, McCann’s “pain is being compounded by racist vitriol.”

Violinist Brian King Joseph, who toured with the Fresh Prince of Bel Air alum last year, previously sued the actor for sexual harassment and wrongful termination.

During the alleged incident, which happened in 2025, Joseph claimed someone entered his Las Vegas hotel room when he wasn’t there and left a note that read, “Brian, I’ll be back … just us,” signed by “Stone F.” Brian also claims the alleged intruder left wipes, beer, and HIV meds. In the lawsuit, he alleges that Smith was grooming and priming him for sexual activity.

After reporting the incident, the violinist claims he was fired as retaliation, but Will insists that’s false, fighting back by asking for the complaint to be tossed. On Tuesday, May 5, the judge agreed with Smith and dismissed the suit, per reports from TMZ.

According to the judge’s ruling, Brian’s lawsuit doesn’t qualify as sexual harassment because it “fails to adequately allege conduct that is sufficiently severe or pervasive.” In his ruling, he also writes that the accuser hadn’t sufficiently pled facts that the only other people with access to his hotel room were Will or his management, since he’d left his bag with his room key in a van with other crew members.

While the judge tossed the case, he did give Brian the opportunity to amend his complaint and try to fix the problems that got it thrown out of court. It’s unclear whether or not he will take that opportunity to try again.

Joseph filed his lawsuit in January 2026, and in response, Smith’s lawyer immediately fought back.

“Mr. Joseph’s allegations concerning my client are false, baseless, and reckless,” Allen B. Grodsky told TMZ at the time. “They are categorically denied, and we will use all legal means available to address these claims and to ensure that the truth is brought to light.”

This time, the receipts involve a social media livestream pointing to Offset’s alleged gambling debt. As BOSSIP previously reported, Cardi claims Tasha K, real name Tasha Kebe, has ignored a non-disparagement clause tied to her bankruptcy plan and ongoing repayment of a multimillion-dollar defamation judgment. Cardi’s legal team is accusing Kebe of engaging in what they call a “relentless course of conduct” that includes coded language and commentary her audience can easily connect back to Cardi. 

Back in 2022, Cardi B, represented by attorney Lisa Moore, was awarded roughly $4 million in her defamation case against Tasha K, who later filed for bankruptcy. The two ultimately reached a restructured agreement that reduced the debt to about $1.2 million, contingent on monthly payments and a non-disparagement clause barring Tasha from speaking about Cardi. In essence, the deal was simple: stop talking about Cardi and stick to the payment plan in exchange for avoiding aggressive collection of the full $3.9 million judgment.

Now, Moore tells TMZ she is seeking to recover that full balance.

According to that new court filing, also reviewed by Complex, Cardi is specifically pointing to a recent livestream where Tasha mocked Cardi’s estranged husband, Offset, and made insinuations about his alleged gambling issues. 

“Offset works at the casino, he is down there five times a week clocking in, some days he works first, second, and third shifts, and he uses everyone else’s money to gamble with,” Tasha reportedly said per the court document. “I was told he would probably still be in a certain relationship if he wasn’t gambling away all that money.” 

Even though Cardi was not mentioned by name, her attorneys allege that Tasha uses indirect references and coded language about her and her family in online content that draws attention and generates revenue.

And if you thought it could not get any messier, Cardi’s legal team also raised serious concerns about the quality of Tasha’s legal filings themselves. Cardi’s lawyers accused Tasha’s attorneys of citing a fabricated case named “Doe v. Gonzalez” and misrepresenting a real legal decision in their arguments, writing:

“Using fake and hallucinated cases casts a shadow on invalidity on the judicial process and causes the public to question its commitment to truth and justice, which is particularly odious. Lawyers who fail to check the accuracy of the information in their briefs should be held accountable.” 

Cardi’s team did not stop there, adding:

“Ms. Almánzar does not presume to know whether this citation was generated through AI assistance without adequate verification, copied from a secondary source, or introduced through some other mechanism.” 

Tasha K Responds, Says She “Lost The War” To Cardi B

In a recent live stream, Tasha K got candid about what she called “losing the war” to Cardi B, recounting a tense conversation with her bankruptcy attorney, Chad, after what she described as a chaotic day in court.

The controversial commentator said her lawyer urged her to remove the content at the center of the dispute, warning it was becoming “a PR nightmare” not just for her, but for his firm.

“You can’t talk about people… take it down,” she recalled him telling her, adding that even content with her branding had to go. Tasha K said she ultimately agreed.

She also revealed that both she and her attorney were fined, with him ordered to pay a portion of her legal fees, calling the hearing “a s*** show” where “nobody was prepared.”

Appearing unbothered and laughing, she added that the highs and lows come with the territory…

“This has been my life for nine years, businesses have issues we have to sort out. Sometimes they’re good, sometimes they’re not. That’s just the nature of the business.”

This week, organizers announced that Babyface, Public Enemy, and Leon Thomas are among the latest artists joining this year’s stacked Evening Concert Series. These new additions come alongside previously announced performers like Cardi B, Latto, Kehlani, Patti LaBelle, Brandy and Monica.

For this year’s festival, Essence is leaning heavily into the evolution of Black music, blending today’s biggest names with legendary acts that helped shape the sound of multiple generations.

Friday night is all about the current era of culture and music. Cardi B will make her Essence Festival debut in New Orleans, while Latto is set to hit the stage just ahead of the release of her upcoming album, Big Mama, which drops later this month.

Kehlani will also perform, bringing the emotionally raw R&B that has made her one of the genre’s defining voices. Rising vocal group SZN4 is also slated to appear after gaining traction through Building the Band.

Going into Saturday’s lineup, the festival shifts toward classic and contemporary R&B. Brandy and Monica, whose hit song “The Boy Is Mine” became one of the defining collaborations of the late ’90s, are both set to perform, while Patti LaBelle returns once again with her signature powerhouse stage presence.

The newer generation of R&B will also take center stage that evening. Josh Levi joins the bill alongside Leon Thomas, who has steadily emerged as one of contemporary R&B’s most compelling artists in recent years thanks to his moody, layered sound and intentional songwriting.

Sunday night closes things out with a celebration of musical legacy.

Babyface joins the lineup carrying one of the most influential catalogs in modern R&B history, with songwriting credits that helped define decades of love songs and quiet-storm classics. Public Enemy will also take the stage, bringing the politically charged energy and urgency that made albums like Fear of a Black Planet culturally defining works in hip-hop.

That same evening, George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic will celebrate 50 years of the Mothership with a special performance featuring collaborators including Big Boi, Scarface, Big Freedia, Nona Hendryx and Durand Bernarr.

Doug E. Fresh is closing out the weekend, whose influence on hip-hop performance remains foundational decades after his rise.

While the musical performances are certainly the main event, that’s only part of what makes Essence Festival a cultural mainstay. Throughout the weekend, the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center will host conversations and experiences centered on beauty, business, wellness, entertainment and community. Additional performers and special guests are still expected to be announced ahead of the festival’s return to New Orleans this July.

TV One’s UNCENSORED is closing out its season with someone who’s been a familiar face in Black households for decades: Wendy Raquel Robinson.

The actress, producer, mentor, and Howard University alum takes center stage for the season finale, airing TONIGHT, Thursday, May 7 at 8 pm/7c on TV One.

The network teases that the episode gets into the “career highs,” “industry challenges,” and resilience that helped shape her legacy. The episode is also listed as the Season 7 finale, which makes Robinson’s sit-down feel like a fitting way to wrap the season, with somebody who has lived enough life, built enough characters, and poured into enough people to have stories for days.

For many fans, Robinson is one of those performers who feels like she has always been around. Some people first locked in with her as Regina “Piggy” Grier on The Steve Harvey Show, while another generation knows her best as Tasha Mack, the loud, bold, hilarious, and impossible-to-ignore sports mom/manager from The Game. But UNCENSORED is built for more than just running through someone’s IMDb page, and Robinson’s episode will dig into the real woman behind all those fan-favorite roles. After his character’s devastating demise on season five of The Boys, Jessie T. Usher is reflecting on the super speedster’s sendoff, a shocking start to the show’s final chapter that continues to make it clear that no one, especially not a supe, is safe.

The series kicked off its final season with a brutal blow, killing off A-Train in the premiere’s final moments. The fastest man alive met a merciless end at the hands of Homelander, played by Antony Starr, after swerving to avoid hitting an innocent bystander.

The split-second decision served as a stark callback to the show’s pilot, when A-Train fatally ran through Hughie’s girlfriend, a moment that first cemented his careless cruelty.

This time, however, the choice signaled something else entirely: conscience, something Jessie T. Usher said was new for the character and made A-Train’s evolution so rich.

“This is the first time I’ve played a character that started out believing one thing and then completely changed his mind and heart,” he told BOSSIP. “Those little light bulb moments, I’m going to miss that.”

Across five seasons, A-Train’s arc shifted from villainy to vulnerability, especially in his final moments.

“Sometimes the character across from me says something, and it affects me in a way that it hasn’t before,” Usher added. “You just learn stuff about this character while you’re playing him.”

That sense of discovery carried into his final faceoff with Homelander, including one of the episode’s most unexpected beats: A-Train laughing in the face of death. Just before the sociopathic leader of The Seven snapped his neck, A-Train delivered a final, defiant takedown, calling Homelander a “pathetic, weak, sniveling f***g loser” and “an empty f****g suit,” as he cackled in his face.

The laughing moment, Usher revealed, was not scripted but instead emerged organically after hours of filming.

“It wasn’t intentional,” he told BOSSIP, explaining that after filming alongside Antony Starr, the actors began experimenting once the technical elements were locked. “We had every conversation we could possibly have about the scene. Then you just start trying stuff.”

What followed was a deeper dive into what A-Train wanted to leave behind in his final moments.

“Anthony came up to me, and we talked about what A-Train wants to leave him with, what a win looks like for him,” Usher recalled. “This is his final moment, and he spent so much time feeling one way about Homelander. Now he doesn’t have to run. So how does he really feel?”

As they pushed beyond the scripted lines, the absurdity of the situation began to surface.

“One thing that came up that wasn’t in the words was how ridiculous this whole situation has been,” Usher said. “Like how have we let this person control our lives this whole time? He’s wearing tights.”

That realization, paired with everything A-Train knows about Homelander behind the facade, shifted the energy entirely, and A-Train went from fear to fearless defiance.

“It just started to become funny,” he told BOSSIP. “And I’m laughing in front of Antony, and he’s so locked into his character I can see him getting angry. It reminded me of messing with my sister, like I know I’m about get my a** beat, but I got you. That’s when you win.”

The moment, he added, took on multiple forms during filming, ranging from laughter to tears, as both actors played with what was not written on the page.

“It was really just a back and forth of communicating what’s not in the words,” he said.

According to reports from NBC News, an Netherlands-based cruise ship called Hondius saw an outbreak of hantavirus that lead to five confirmed cases, three suspected cases, and three fatalities.

What is hantavirus, you ask? As described by the American Lung Association, Hantavirus is a rare but potentially deadly virus carried primarily by rodents such as deer mice, cotton rats, and rice rats. Humans can become infected by breathing in virus particles from rodent urine, droppings, or saliva, especially in enclosed spaces like cabins, sheds, or garages. In the United States, hantavirus can cause Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS), a severe respiratory illness that begins with flu-like symptoms including fever, fatigue, muscle aches, headaches, and nausea. It may take 1-8 weeks for symptoms to show; however, as the disease worsens, patients may develop coughing and severe breathing difficulties due to fluid buildup in the lungs. According to the CDC, there is no specific cure, but early medical treatment improves survival chances.

One passenger aboard the Hondius was Ruhi Cenet, a well-known documentarian and YouTuber. In an interview with Sky News, he said that the travelers “were not well-informed” about the illness that had befallen the ship after it was announced that one passenger had died.

“Knowing that we didn’t get isolated and we didn’t take any caution for a solid 12 days, for my part, is a very sad situation.”

ABC30 reports that there are now three states monitoring individuals who previously traveled on Hondius: California, Arizona, and Georgia.

Atlanta’s 11Alive is reporting that Georgia is currently surveilling two people. It is unknown how many people in the other two states are being watched, but at this time, none of the individuals in question are said to be showing symptoms.

“There is no information that the California residents are ill or infected… At this time, the risk to public health in California is low,” the California Department of Public Health’s Robert Barsanti said in a statement.

CNN is reporting that 146 people from 23 countries are still aboard the ship “under strict precautionary measures.”

It should be emphasized again that hantavirus is extremely rare, as the ALA cites only 864 cases reported between 1993 and 2022. That said, the World Health Organization cites that in America, hantavirus cardiopulmonary syndrome (HCPS) has a 50% fatality rate.

In a video she posted to TikTok, the South African singer spoke up about the viral clip that featured her awkwardly standing to the side while Rihanna stood a few feet away.

According to Tyla, she met the Fenty founder last year, and she was “busy”–so she didn’t want to recreate that moment with this interaction.

“Bacially, everyone knows I love Rih,” Tyla began, speaking to the camera. “So I met her last year, and she was cool. I met her, but I think she was occupied. I went up to her, and i was like, ‘Oh, hey.’ She was like, ‘Hey, my baby daddy is calling me,’ and then she left. I was like, ‘Oh, maybe she was busy.'”

The issue centers on Jeff Bezos, who served as an honorary co-chair and sponsor of this year’s gala alongside his wife, Lauren Sánchez Bezos.

For many working-class viewers, the contrast was hard to ignore; Hollywood’s biggest night was backed by one of the world’s richest men, as everyday Americans face job losses and cuts to essential social programs.

Taraji was first to pull up with a strong opinion ahead of the Met Museum’s fundraiser.

As Variety reported, Henson commented on influencer Meredith Lynch’s Instagram post questioning why some in Hollywood were still planning to attend.

”I am so confused by some ppl that are going. I am just like WTF ARE WE DOING!?!?!?!” 

She did not stop there.

On her Instagram Story, Henson reshared a post slamming Bezos for owning a $500 million superyacht while workers in Amazon warehouses face precarious conditions, low wages and high injury rates. She captioned her Instagram story simply, “Enjoy the MET.”

Then Jenifer stepped into the room and turned the piano into a full courtroom.

As The Grio reported, the 67-year-old actor took to Instagram to deliver her full assessment. 

“Okay, so I hadn’t seen any of it,” she began. “I had been running around all day, and my girlfriend called and said, ‘Jenifer, they showed up anyway.’”

She then sat at her piano and kept going. 

“They cut nearly 30,000 jobs and gutted The Washington Post. They showed up anyway? Postering and posing, hoping to be the most. They cut $1 billion in funding for children’s nutrition. And there they all were, vying for the next position. We’re at war, and so many people are dying.” 

She continued, asking, “How much fame do we need, y’all? How much more fame?”

The comments on her post were equally heated. Followers piled in with responses, “And she knows that the folks she’s talking about know THEY ARE THE FOLKS she’s TALKING about,” while others pointed out that “300,000 Black women lost their jobs” and called the attendance “a slap in the face, knowing that the average citizen is in protest.” 

Despite the very vocal outrage, the controversial sponsorship did not stop some of Hollywood’s biggest names from attending, including Bad Bunny, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Teyana Taylor, Margot Robbie, Colman Domingo, and Beyoncé, who co-chaired this year’s event alongside Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour. 

Nobody is saying the looks weren’t giving; they were. But Jenifer Lewis and Taraji want you to feel something beyond the aesthetics. Based on the comments, people heard them loud and clear.

During the exchange, Rihanna can be seen briefly turning toward Rocky with a serious expression, which many thought came off as the singer being irritated.

TMZ also caught another video of the couple that night, filmed by a photographer inside their Sprinter van after the event. During the clip, the couple appeared to be having an emotional conversation, with both seeming slightly irritated.

As speculation spread online, however, additional details have challenged the initial narrative. A witness at the Met Gala told the outlet that the pair looked happy together throughout the evening, despite how they may have looked in the videos.

Sources familiar with the situation told TMZ that the woman seen talking with Rocky in the now-viral clip is Giovanna Battaglia Engelbert, an Italian fashion editor and stylist who has known Rihanna for years and reportedly has “a lot of respect” for her. According to these sources, the widely shared video does not capture the full interaction and Giovanna had actually been speaking with Rihanna first. The two were said to be laughing together before she continued chatting with Rocky nearby.

TMZ went on to report that Giovanna—who attended the event with singer EJAE—was joking with Rocky about his necklace while Rihanna participated in an interview a short distance away. Even though Rihanna appeared serious when glancing in Rocky’s direction, insiders emphasized that there was no romantic undertone between Rocky and Giovanna.

In addition to these sources, the man who filmed the video of ASAP Rocky “ignoring” Rihanna has also spoken out.

“@backstageliveend was talking with the couple on the red carpet at the #metgala she was not unhappy and everyone in that circle know each other, so please stop,” they wrote in an Instagram comment. “The couple is very much in love.”

The couple’s rep added to TMZ that the sprinter van footage doesn’t show tension, just two people drained from having a marathon 16-hour day.

“It was a long day, and they were running on empty,” said the outlet’s source.

Despite the online chatter, sources maintain that the situation has been misinterpreted. What appeared to be tension was likely nothing more than ordinary Met Gala interactions, with no underlying relationship drama—just casual conversation in a high-profile setting.

NeNe Leakes is ready to “move forward” after the 2022 lawsuit that nearly derailed her relationship with Andy Cohen and executives at Bravo, and it appears the feeling may be mutual. Leakes, who is set to appear in the upcoming The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th, a newly announced Bravo spinoff slated for a 2026 debut, shared in an interview with Vulture that she hasn’t spoken to Cohen since filing the lawsuit against Bravo and its producers, alleging a hostile and racist work environment. The case was dropped later that same year.

According to Leakes, reconnecting is ultimately Cohen’s decision, as she has already moved on emotionally.

“I guess the question would be, ‘What would it take to get him back on those terms?’” the Bravolebrity, 58, told Vulture on Tuesday, May 5. “I am the kind of person that, good or bad, time heals. You don’t have to be besties or anything like that, but I move forward. I’m not into holding negative energy.”

Andy Cohen says the lawsuit is “in the past.”

Her remarks came just one day after Cohen spoke with Vulture on May 4, offering his own perspective on their current dynamic. While he declined to discuss specifics of the legal situation, he made it clear that the lawsuit is firmly behind them, telling the outlet that it was “in the past.”

In a prior interview with BOSSIP, Leakes noted that her relationship with NBCUniversal had improved, pointing to her continued appearances hosting red carpet events for NBC as evidence of renewed goodwill.

Notably, when asked if Leakes could return to RHOA now that she’s back in the Bravo universe, Cohen kept things mum.

“You know what? We’ve worked so hard to get a cast on Atlanta that is cohesive and makes sense and that we love and the fans love,” he told the outlet. “We want to be at the level that Atlanta used to be, and we are finally there.”

Cohen added, “That’s what I’m focusing on right now.”

Andy Cohen and NeNe Leakes showed signs of rekindling in January.

Even before these interviews, there were signs that the relationship between Leakes and Bravo had begun to thaw. Back in January, Leakes shared her excitement on Instagram after reports confirmed her participation in The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th.

“I’m overjoyed, I almost can’t even believe that the words that are coming out of my mouth,” she said, adding that she was “so happy” to be returning to the network that made her a reality TV icon.

In the video, she also expressed gratitude to Bravo leadership and behind-the-scenes contributors who helped facilitate her return, including Chairman of Bravo & Peacock Unscripted Frances Berwick and Andy Cohen.

Her post drew widespread support, including a comment from Cohen himself: 

“Couldn’t celebrate 20 years without you,” he wrote. Leakes replied back,”Thank you so much for everything. Love you butter cup no matter what.”

Nick explained that his ultimate goal is to prepare his teen daughter for the future freedom to date and ease her into it, with a little help with from Moroccan.

“We made a deal. If she can explain to me what’s going to happen on these dates, then she can go,” he said. “‘Your twin brother can go with you.’ That’s what I do. But you ain’t going one-on-one with no little bastard anywhere. Hopefully, we’re having these open conversations. My daughter tells me any and everything, and even though I’m apprehensive, like, if you can explain it to [me]…I want you to have all the questions answered or whatever, and you make the best decision possible.”

BOSSIP has been dutifully covering the Ashlee Jenae (born Ashly Robinson) case since news first broke in April. Today, we have the update that many have been waiting for for quite some time. Ashlee’s fiancé Joe McCann is speaking publicly for the first time since her sudden and extremely suspicious death, offering his thoughts and emotions as questions in the case continue to mount.

His statement came via a lengthy post on X, and interestingly, McCann avoided any mention of the scrutiny he has faced online.

“There are no adequate words to describe the total devastation, emptiness, and shock I feel after losing my best friend, confidante and fiancé, Ashly Jenae Robinson. As a father myself, I am also heartbroken for Ashly’s parents, Yolanda Endres and Harry Robinson. Ashly’s death is an incomprehensible tragedy,” he wrote.

He continued:

“Ashly was an angel who shined her light on everyone fortunate enough to be in her presence. There is no way to fill the unfillable void left by Ashly’s passing and no way to make sense of this unfathomable loss. All we can do is carry on Ashly’s legacy of helping other people and strive to live up to her virtues every single day. Ashly, I love you forever.”

In another notable update, TMZ is reporting that Joe McCann is not invited, nor did he attend, Ashlee Jenae’s funeral this week. This was to be expected as the family says that they have not spoken to McCann once since Robinson’s death. Furthermore, while authorities in Tanzania have not officially named him a suspect, they did confiscate his passport and held him in the country for extensive questioning. It is not clear whether or not he has been allowed to return to the States or if he is still in Tanzania.

While it does not serve as hard evidence against him, McCann’s absence has drawn attention amid continued tensions between him and Robinson’s family, who have publicly challenged earlier suggestions that her death may have been a suicide. They have maintained that the circumstances are suspicious and have continued to push for a more thorough investigation.

We’re sure that Joe McCann’s lawyers are advising him to say nothing of the hostile argument that he had with Ashlee prior to her death, which explains why his statement reads more as a sanitized eulogy than a defense of his innocence. That said, the public will not be satiated by McCann’s teary-eyed tweets. The circumstances surrounding Ashly Robinson’s death require unrelenting investigation and examination.
