“That bag is undoubtedly one of the greatest articles of clothing New York has ever seen,” said Woods’ fiancé and Knicks star Karl-Anthony Townes on Good Morning America, per WWD.

“It’s had a run, for sure, undefeated in the playoffs. Woods by Jordyn, for sure, got it done for us. So shout out to her and shout out to what she’s been able to do with the world and with that bag, because New York has a lot to thank her for.”

Cam Newton has had plenty of memorable guests on Funky Friday, but few have managed to keep the outspoken host on his toes. Lady London famously checked him during her appearance, and Saucy Santana appears to have followed suit with the rapper hitting the Mad Hatter with a reality check.

“I don’t want you, and I can tell by yo stories, you cheap as hell!” said the “Material Girl” matter-of-factly.

The “Walk” artist is never one to hide any part of his experience as a Black gay man and the baddest b****, and that was on full display as he confronted Newton on everything from his internalized homophobia, cheap ways with women, and inability to read a room.

After having Newton interrupt his answers to insert “no homo,” and clarify that he was not the person being discussed in Santana’s hypotheticals, the rapper cut right to the bone, saying,

“We ain’t talking about me and you,” he said. “We just talking about men in general. And I ain’t finna keep clarifying all this no homo and all that s***. I don’t want you and I can tell by yo stories, you cheap as hell.”

Cam laughed off the comments but seemed to relax into the stories from that point on.

Santana was in rare form, teaching Cam about the ins and outs of being a true city boy. Everything from the difference between a trick and a real romantic interest to how he’s navigated his rise to fame.

“When that’s your man, you gotta make him feel good,” he said. “He not even gone feel like it’s transactional. It be like ‘I ain’t even ask for this s***, he just came home with it because I’m that good of a b****. I done rubbed yo back, I done stroked your ego, I done helped you do this and that. Y’all n***** just want to feel like a king.”

When it comes to holding it down for the gworls, Santana is always going to do that; however, he does draw the line at helping to sniff out men who may not be living in their truth.

“Don’t trust fish, fish got bones,” he said. “If you want to find out if he gay or whatever, you need to go through his phone and figure out something. Don’t bring me around and try to figure out nothing because you know what they gone do? ‘They gone say Santana said…’ and I ain’t say s***, girl, I ain’t told you that. I don’t know nothing. And I don’t need to come around to see if he gay or not because if he is, now you mad at me because now we go together.”

One thing’s for sure, Santana continues to prove why he’s a star in his own right, as the interview was full of laughs and good moments. He hilariously described how he knew he was famous when he could no longer steal from retailers or walk to the neighborhood hangouts.

“I grew up a foot dragger, me and my h*** used to get dressed up and walk,” he said. “You can’t even walk to the store no more. You can’t go in there looking basic because everybody watching.”

According to HuffPost, workers spent Friday installing and preparing to dismantle signage bearing Trump’s name before completing the removal early Saturday morning.

The sign came down after U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper ruled in May that only Congress has the authority to change the Kennedy Center’s name. Cooper cited federal law establishing the venue as a memorial to former President John F. Kennedy.

According to Cooper’s ruling, the Kennedy Center’s founding statute leaves little room for interpretation regarding its official name.

“The Kennedy Center’s organic statute makes crystal clear that the Center is to be named for President Kennedy, and it cannot bear any other formal name or public memorial based on the Board’s unilateral say so,” the judge wrote.

Cooper further emphasized that congressional approval would be required for any name change.

“Congress gave the Kennedy Center its name, and only Congress can change it,” the ruling stated.

The decision blocked efforts by a Trump-backed Kennedy Center board to formally associate the venue with the president.

Overnight Removal Draws Crowd

HuffPost states that workers raced to meet an 11:59 p.m. deadline to remove Trump’s name from the building. However, the U.S. Department of Justice successfully requested a 12-hour extension after arguing that severe thunderstorms in the Washington area delayed the process.

As crews worked overnight, spectators gathered outside the venue hoping to witness the historic moment. HuffPost reported that workers erected a large tarp around 3 a.m. Saturday, obscuring the final stages of the removal and disappointing onlookers who had assembled to celebrate the sign coming down.

Thousands of additional viewers reportedly tuned in through a livestream tracking the process.

Judge Also Stops Proposed Two-Year Closure

The ruling extended beyond the naming dispute.

In HuffPost, Cooper also blocked plans approved by a Trump-installed board to close the Kennedy Center for two years while extensive renovations were completed.

Trump had promoted the project as a major restoration effort that would transform the venue into a world-class destination. Following the ruling, the president blasted Cooper in a lengthy post on Truth Social.

“Can you imagine?” Trump wrote.

The president went on to accuse the judge of interfering with what he described as a necessary rebuilding effort, claiming the facility suffered from structural deterioration and pest issues.

“A Barack Hussein Obama Judge named Christopher Cooper has stopped a magnificent structural and aesthetic rebuilding of The Trump Kennedy Center,” Trump wrote before describing plans for improvements that would make the venue “the Finest anywhere in the World.”

Removal Comes Ahead Of Trump Birthday Celebration

The removal of Trump’s name came just one day before the president’s 80th birthday celebration.

Trump is expected to host an outdoor UFC event on the White House South Lawn as part of the festivities. Weather forecasts for Washington, D.C., are calling for hot and humid conditions along with scattered thunderstorms.

The same weather that delayed the removal process could potentially complicate plans for the birthday event, adding another wrinkle to a week already dominated by legal setbacks tied to Trump’s vision for the Kennedy Center.

For now, the building’s name remains unchanged, and Cooper’s ruling makes clear that any future effort to rename the landmark will require action from Congress, not the White House.

A blatantly bigoted moment at President Donald Trump’s “Freedom 250” UFC event on the White House lawn has sparked widespread backlash after heavyweight fighter Josh Hokit used a long-debunked and wildly offensive conspiracy theory about former First Lady Michelle Obama during a post-fight interview.

According to the Daily Beast, the incident occurred after Hokit defeated Derrick Lewis by TKO (technical knockout) during the unusual UFC card staged as part of celebrations surrounding both America’s 250th anniversary and Trump’s 80th birthday. After thanking Trump for hosting the event and praising Jesus Christ during an interview with UFC commentator Joe Rogan, Hokit abruptly declared, “Michelle Obama is a man! Am I right, America?!” repeating a false claim that has circulated in racist far-right circles for years. The insult was met with an audible roar of approval from the crowd.

The remark immediately sparked controversy and began to overshadow the garish event itself. Reports indicated that reactions from the crowd were mixed, with some attendees cheering while others appeared stunned or disapproving. According to The Grio, the comments came days after Anthony, 19, was sentenced to 35 years in prison for the fatal stabbing of Austin Metcalf during an altercation at a Frisco, Texas, track meet in 2025. The remarks also followed a judge’s decision to lift a gag order that had prevented both families from publicly discussing the high-profile case.

During an appearance on the JinxedSip Podcast hosted by Sarah Fields, Metcalf referred to Anthony as a “watermelon felon,” invoking a racist stereotype historically used against Black people. According to TheGrio, Metcalf offered the nickname while pushing back against accusations that race has played a role in public discussions surrounding the case.

“How’s that one strike ya?” Metcalf said before adding that Anthony would have “many nights” in prison to think about his actions.

The comments quickly sparked outrage online, particularly because they came amid ongoing debate about race, sentencing, and the makeup of the jury that convicted Anthony.

Anthony, who is Black, was convicted by a jury that reportedly included no Black members despite Black residents making up roughly 12 percent of the county’s population. Following the verdict, public figures including rapper Cardi B and Texas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett publicly questioned whether the 35-year sentence was excessive.

Metcalf Attacks Anthony’s Parents

The Grio states that Metcalf also directed harsh criticism toward Anthony’s parents, Andrew Anthony and Kala Hayes.

During the nearly three-hour interview, Metcalf accused the couple of profiting from their son’s legal troubles and abandoning him when it mattered most.

“You are grifters. You should be ashamed of yourselves,” Metcalf said.

He further claimed Anthony’s parents failed to take accountability for their son’s actions and suggested child welfare officials should check on their other children. Metcalf also referred to Andrew Anthony as a “coward” and directed additional insults toward Hayes.

Despite the comments, Metcalf insisted he is “not racist,” stating that he is only “racist against a–holes” and arguing that “we all bleed the same color.”

Jeff Metcalf Says Both Teenagers Could Have Walked Away

Additional reporting from NewsNation revealed a different side of Metcalf’s recent public comments.

Speaking with Chris Cuomo, Metcalf acknowledged that he believes both teenagers made decisions that contributed to the deadly outcome.

“It could have been avoided,” Metcalf said. “Austin could have walked away, Karmelo could have walked away, but that’s not what happened.”

Metcalf said the tragedy highlights the need for schools to teach conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.

“What are we going to treat people like? How are we going to interact? How do we communicate? How do we teach our children?” he said.

Metcalf also rejected the idea that race played any role in either the killing or Anthony’s conviction.

“Love doesn’t see color. Hate doesn’t see color. God doesn’t see color. Crazy doesn’t see color,” he said. “This was a right or wrong issue.”

The grieving father also discussed forgiveness, explaining that his Christian faith has helped him move forward despite the loss of his son.

“Forgiveness is actually for me,” Metcalf said. “It allows me to not carry around hate, anger, rage, revenge.”

More Details of Metclaf’s Explosive Rant Against Anthony’s Family

Metcalf expanded on his criticism of Anthony’s parents during the same podcast appearance.

According to Yahoo News, citing TMZ, Metcalf accused Andrew Anthony and Kala Hayes of only supporting their son when online fundraising efforts generated significant donations. He claimed the family became less visible after a crowdfunding campaign connected to Anthony was shut down following the guilty verdict.

Yahoo also reported that Metcalf accused the family of deepening racial divisions instead of helping bridge them in the aftermath of the case.

The interview reportedly concluded with Metcalf directing an expletive toward Anthony’s parents while raising his middle finger toward the camera.

As NewsOne pointed out, Metcalf’s comments ultimately revealed more about him than the person he was attempting to insult.

“So my people, let’s go ahead and return this racism to sender. ‘Watermelon felon’ doesn’t reveal any truth about Karmelo Anthony or the countless Black youth America has chosen to demonize,” wrote Dr. Stacey Patton. “Instead, it exposes Jeff Metcalf and every other racist who claims they ‘don’t see color’ while carrying around an entire dusty, fetid Jim Crow museum in their mouths.”

Meanwhile, Anthony has already initiated the appeals process and has requested a court-appointed attorney, arguing he cannot afford legal representation. His family continues to maintain that he did not receive a fair trial and has vowed to continue fighting his conviction.

The Knicks star went on to reveal that he asked his mother before she passed to remain a presence in his life, and he’s continued to feel that energy during every step of the way.

“I remember just always asking her if this was going to be my last time seeing her in the physical, let me feel her spirit at all times,” he said during the press conference. “In moments of true pressure and a lot of things going on, I always feel this calming come to me and it’s always her. It’s just great to always feel her arms around me and always to feel her love in my life, in so many different ways.”

KAT continued, “It’s a testament. I haven’t felt love from a woman like that until I met my fiancé. It really means a lot that, in a way – without sounding weird – Jackie Jr. was able to be here celebrating this moment with me.”

Anyone watching Karl-Anthony Towns speak about the most important women in his life would be emotional, especially Jordyn. She posted a clip of his press conference on X and wrote, “Actual tears .”

When Black Americans fall victim to racially motivated violence and hatred, the scales of justice frequently tip in favor of the aggressor, with perpetrators walking away with charges reduced, sentences minimized, or in many cases, facing no punishment at all.

We previously gave TV moms their flowers in Global Grind’s tribute to the Black TV moms who raised us; it is time to bring the fathers into the conversation too. Because just like those mothers carried entire households on screen and in our hearts, the Black TV dads of sitcom history gave us something television had rarely offered before: a version of Black fatherhood built on presence, humor, sacrifice and a love that did not need to announce itself to be real.

None of this happens without one show breaking the ground first. As Revolt noted in their own breakdown of the genre’s history, Good Times was the first sitcom to put a two-parent Black family at the center of the screen. That single decision rewired what was possible for every show that followed. Once that door opened, television started giving fans fathers who were funny, flawed, strict, soft, present and everything in between, and an entire generation grew up watching themselves reflected back for the first time.

What stands out, looking back at these characters, is how different they all were from each other. None of them were interchangeable. Some ruled their households with an iron fist wrapped in love. Some were the goofiest people in the room and somehow still the moral center of the family. Some never planned on being fathers at all and had to learn the job in real time, in front of a live studio audience, with the whole world watching. And yet every single one of them showed up, week after week, season after season, which is really part of the job description in the first place.

The news comes after a frightening stretch for Sanders, who publicly revealed in July 2025 that doctors had found a tumor on his bladder during a routine checkup earlier that spring. According to his medical team, the tumor was high-grade and considered high-risk, which led doctors to remove his bladder and reconstruct a new one.

That alone would be enough to slow anybody down, but Sanders’ health journey has been heavy for years. Since 2021, he has dealt with multiple surgeries tied to blood clots and circulation issues, including the amputation of two toes on his left foot. Then came the bladder cancer diagnosis, which pushed him into another fight that tested his body, his faith and his usual larger-than-life spirit.

Sanders has been honest about how dark things got. He said last year at this time, he was fighting cancer and did not know which way things were going to go. He also revealed that the ordeal included 14 surgeries, with the bladder removal being the biggest piece of the process.

But Prime did not go through it alone. His doctors in Colorado played a major role in catching the cancer and getting him through treatment while his family, loved ones and support system stayed close during the toughest moments. In footage shared during his recovery, Karrueche Tran was seen emotionally supporting him at the hospital, while Sanders’ son also helped document parts of the journey through the family’s “For Your Glory” series.

For Sanders, beating cancer has clearly been about more than just being able to stand on the sideline again. It has been about surviving something that could have changed everything, then coming out on the other side with a new appreciation for life, health and purpose. He credited God and his doctors for bringing him through, saying, “We fought the battle and we won the battle fighting cancer. I’m cancer-free. I’m good.”

Now he’s joining the cast of Universal’s latest romantic comedy, The Catch.

Druski’s got some Hollywood heavy hitters at the top of the call sheet with Chris Pine and Emma Stone leading the cast. Dave McRary, Stone’s husband, is the director, and it’s set to hit theaters on May 21, 2027.

Few details are known about the film, but it will center around baseball and is inspired by the romantic comedies of the 1980s and 1990s.

“While details are being kept under wraps, sources say the film is a baseball rom-com in the vein of Bull Durham and Notting Hill. Sources say Druski will play Stone’s security guard,” writes Deadline.

The original spec script was written by Patrick Kang and Michael Levin, but the most recent draft was written by Jen Statsky and Travis Helwig. 

As a married couple, Stone and McRary have worked together on several projects through their Fruit Tree production company, and it just adds another to the growing list. Producing alongside them is Ali Herting, while Shawn Levy and Dan Levine are producing through 21 Laps. Michael H. Weber is also credited as one of the film’s producers.

Druski’s big-picture role is just another testament to his ability to turn online popularity into a career. After a guest spot on Black-ish, the Atlanta-born comedian’s first major credit came in 2023’s Praise This, which was led by Chloe Bailey and also starred Quavo.

With his Hollywood dreams being realized, he’s also taken on the gig of hosting the 2026 BET Awards. Ahead of the 25th ceremony in June 28, Druski spoke about the honor of hosting a show he watched as a kid.

“I grew up watching the BET Awards,” Druski said in a statement. “To know the comedic legends that hosted before me set the bar so high, I’m just grateful to be a part of the history. But I’m still bringing my brand of comedy to the stage.”

In the clip, the rapper appears to be backstage getting her makeup done before an appearance. Rocking a body-hugging denim look complete with a fitted peplum top and matching jeans, Da Brat looked good. The FIFA World Cup has descended upon the States, and the opening ceremony saw Future and Tyla collaborating for a performance spanning the African diaspora.

Their track “Game Time” has been used in promo for the international games for weeks leading up to the official kickoff, but the pair’s chemistry onstage was a must-see. Future stuck to his roots, rocking Atlanta Falcons colors during the performance, while Tyla rocked a blue and white star-spangled number of her own.

The South African beauty also rocked a gold and diamond-encrusted FIFA grill for the occasion. Cute! Though soccer isn’t as big here in the US as it is internationally, there has started to be a vested interest in the sport as more people from different cultures migrate to the States. Unfortunately, the current political climate made the games get off to a rocky start as players, coaches, and referees have run into visa issues while trying to enter the country.

Nonetheless, the games are always a time to commune together for five weeks as the entire world’s attention turns to the World Cup. The games remain the most-viewed sporting event in the world, with FIFA reporting that an estimated 2.1 billion viewers watched the 2022 matches in Qatar, despite criticism of the decision to host in the country.

Amid the tense political backdrop of the United States, FIFA believes the viewership for the World Cup will see an increase as 48 teams are set to compete this year, compared to 32 in 2022. Interest in the matches has seen a steady bump for the last three World Cup games, in fact, as stars of the sport continue to find crossover mass appeal among young fans. Lionel Messi, one of the sport’s most popular and recognizable athletes, now plays for a team based in the States; a major move to continue making soccer the world’s favorite pastime.

There has also been a major improvement in the US Men’s team as they were long considered among one of the worst —often missing the mark of competing in the games—while the women’s team notched numerous accolades, including gold medals at the Olympics. However, they pulled out an impressive 4-1 victory over the Paraguay team to kick off the World Cup on Jun. 12, seemingly putting the world on notice that they may be a squad to watch this go round.

Despite having her own special on the streamer, the comedy legend decidedly passed on the roast even when directly asked by Hart to participate. In hindsight, she credits her intuition and principles with saving her from the fallout of the heavily criticized special.

“Kevin called me before it was announced, and I said, ‘No!,'” Sykes explained during an interview with Vulture‘s Good Ones podcast. “He said, ‘Come on, Wanda. Come on, it’ll be good. It’ll be good for your special. You’ve got a special coming out.’ I was like, ‘Kevin, you know I love you, man.’ He goes, ‘I know. I know it’s not your thing. I know it’s not your thing.’ He’s like, ‘You’ll just come in, do your thing, get out of there.'”

Though she had no idea just how left things would end up, in watching “enough” of the special, Sykes said she was thankful she’d passed on it.

“I consumed enough to go, ‘Thank God,'” she said. “I went to the Sparks game instead.”

Though she took issue with a lot of the things that the general public criticized, from a comedic standpoint Sykes felt the real mishap was that of the writers on the evening.

“Just lazy writing,” she said when asked what she felt made the special a failure. “I felt the same way about the [Tom] Brady roast too. Just, it seems like the roasts are just recycled sexist, racist, gay jokes. Like, come on.”

With her comments, Sykes joins a long line of other comedians who have criticized the special as being one-note and punching down on vulnerable communities, something the comedy world often frowns upon. Hart, however, has remained steadfast in his defense of the special, pointing to its success on the streamer and lauding the comedians who took part. Only time will tell if his views will someday change.
