On Monday, June 8, STARZ hosted a red carpet premiere event in New York City to celebrate the fifth and final season of Power Book III: Raising Kanan. The event brought together cast members, creators, executives and fans for an emotional farewell to the acclaimed crime drama.

Held at The Times Center, the event welcomed a host of stars from the series, including Patina Miller, MeKai Curtis, London Brown, Malcolm Mays, Joey Bada$$, Hailey Kilgore, Shameik Moore, Tony Danza, Wendell Pierce, Erika Woods, Leslie Grossman and Joe Pantoliano. Creator, executive producer and showrunner Sascha Penn was also in attendance alongside executive producer Mark Canton.

Joining the cast were STARZ executives Jeffrey Hirsch, President and CEO of STARZ; Alison Hoffman, President of STARZ Networks; and Kathryn Busby, President of Original Programming at STARZ.

The premiere also served as a gathering place for members of the wider Power universe. Cast members from the upcoming spinoff Power: Origins, Spence Moore and Charlie Mann, attended the festivities, offering a glimpse at the franchise’s future even as Raising Kanan prepares to conclude.

Additional guests included Raising Kanan actor and Tony Award nominee Christiani Pitts, P-Valley star Gail Bean, Love Island season seven standout Chelley Bissainthe, actor Da’Vinchi and influencers Lou Young, Brittany Lynn and Candis Grace.

The evening celebrated not only the upcoming season but also the show’s lasting impact since premiering in 2021 as a prequel to the original Power series. Over four seasons, the drama has chronicled the rise of Kanan Stark and the complicated relationship between the young future kingpin and his mother, Raquel “Raq” Thomas.

Before attendees screened the season premiere, Busby took the stage to preview what fans can expect from the final chapter.

“‘Raising Kanan’s’ final season is a reckoning—for every character, every choice, and every consequence. The storytelling is a suspenseful whirlwind of emotion – from the first frame until the final scene – and it’s packed with the kind of twists that remind you exactly why audiences keep showing up,” she said.

Penn followed with remarks reflecting on the show’s five-season run and expressing gratitude to STARZ for allowing the creative team to bring the story to its intended conclusion.

“I also want to thank my friends at STARZ…five years of scripted drama doesn’t happen very often in our business anymore, and you guys let me tell and end this story in the way I wanted and I always envisioned, and that’s a big deal,” Penn said.

Penn also took a moment to recognize series lead MeKai Curtis, who has portrayed the younger version of fan-favorite character Kanan Stark throughout the show’s run.

“I just want to take a second here to acknowledge someone who, in many ways, had the toughest job of any of us, someone who had the biggest shoes to fill. His name is MeKai Curtis, and he didn’t just fill his shoes, he made them his own,” Penn said.

The showrunner concluded his speech with a heartfelt reflection on the people and experiences that helped shape the series.

“We honor the people we love and lost with the passion and dedication and creativity and hard work that we put into this.”

According to attendees, the premiere episode delivered no shortage of surprises.

The screening reportedly left the audience gasping throughout as major twists unfolded on screen. By the episode’s conclusion, the room erupted into applause, signaling excitement for the season ahead.

Afterward, the celebration continued at BOOM at The Standard, where guests enjoyed themed cocktails, reflected on the show’s legacy and danced to a lively DJ set from Errol Chatham. Attendees also gathered to cheer on the New York Knicks during Game 3 of the NBA Finals, adding a distinctly New York touch to the night’s festivities.

The fifth and final season of Power Book III: Raising Kanan premieres Friday, June 12. New episodes will stream weekly on Fridays through the STARZ app and all STARZ streaming and on-demand platforms.

The season will also air on STARZ at 8 p.m. ET/PT in the United States, marking the beginning of the final chapter in Kanan Stark’s journey.

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — From Regina King to T.I., the stars came out for the American Black Film Festival’s (ABFF) 30th anniversary. But the real story was the enduring mission that transformed a small gathering for Black filmmakers into one of the entertainment industry’s most influential cultural events.

For three decades, the ABFF festival has served as more than a gathering place for filmmakers, a launchpad for careers, a celebration of Black creativity, and perhaps most importantly, a place where Black stories are not treated as niche, but as essential.

This year, as the festival celebrated under the theme “The Homecoming,” ABFF transformed Miami Beach into the epicenter of Black film, television, sports, comedy, music, and culture. From star-studded red carpets and world premieres to intimate conversations with industry icons, the festival delivered a powerful reminder of why representation matters and why community  remains at the heart of storytelling. Radio/TV personality Jazmyn Summers was there for Radio One to bring you the tea.

“We talk about safe spaces a lot now,” ABFF co-founder and CEO Jeff Friday reflected. “There was really no safe space for Black artists to go to build their first audiences, to get encouragement from their community, from studios, from fellow artists.”

What started as a solution to that problem has become something much larger.

“This is really less about film and TV and more about just Black joy and Black empowerment and Black success and Black legacy,” Friday said. “And this is more about the emerging creators than it is. We have a long legacy of helping people get their start in this business and that’s really the most rewarding part of the 30th anniversary.”

A Thrilling Start With Strung

The celebration began with the opening-night premiere of Peacock and Blumhouse’s psychological thriller “Strung,” directed by acclaimed filmmaker Malcolm D. Lee.

The film follows a gifted violinist at the center of a suspense-filled narrative that blends music, mystery, and psychological tension. Directed by Lee, whose filmography includes beloved classics such as The Best Man franchise and Girls Trip, the project marks a notable creative shift.

“It’s a departure,” Lee admitted to Summers. “But it’s all in the wheelhouse of being a storyteller. I really enjoy storytelling and I wanted to try my hand at different genres all the time.”

What attracted him to the project was simple.

“When the script came across my desk, I loved what I read and I kept turning the pages and just couldn’t put it down.”

For audiences wondering whether “Strung” is worth adding to their watchlists, Lee’s answer was immediate.

“You’d be totally engaged,” he said. “It’s something that you want to do in a dark room, have some popcorn and have your friends around because you will need support while watching this movie.”

Music plays a central role in the film’s storytelling.

“Music is a very big part of this whole narrative,” Lee explained. “We go anywhere everywhere from classical music to hip hop.”

The cast brought equal excitement to the project.

Veteran actress Lynn Whitfield teased her character Audra with just enough mystery to leave audiences intrigued.

“Audra is the matriarch, the major puppeteer. She thinks she knows it all and she runs the household and the rest is a secret.”

Coco Jones, meanwhile, described her character Jasmine as the emotional relief amid the tension.

“I played Jasmine in ‘Strung.’ She’s Layla’s best friend who’s played by Chloe Bailey and really I’m the lightheartedness in this thriller.”

Yet even her character isn’t spared from the chaos.

“Next thing you know, we’re in this crazy scenario where we got to ride or die and Jasmine’s going to be a ride or die.”

The opening-night red carpet featured a who’s who of talent including Chloe Bailey, Coco Jones, Lucien Laviscount, Lynn Whitfield, Romy Woods, Donna Biscoe, Malcolm D. Lee, producer Dominique Telson and executive producers Giselle Johnson-Morris and Shaun Sutton.

Festival ambassador Regina King was also on hand, helping to usher in a weekend filled with some of the biggest names in entertainment.

Beyond the Red Carpet

What continues to separate ABFF from many entertainment events is its unique ability to pair celebrity with substance.

The first full day featured an intimate Legacy Talk with Regina King that explored her journey from child actress to Academy Award-winning performer and director. The conversation felt particularly meaningful given her longstanding relationship with the festival.

Another highlight came from legendary basketball coach Dawn Staley, who discussed leadership, legacy, and the courage required to create lasting impact.

The evening concluded with the prestigious HBO Short Film Award Showcase, which has become one of the industry’s most respected launching pads for emerging filmmakers.

Netflix, Anime, Sports and Cultural Conversations

As the festival progressed, ABFF demonstrated the remarkable breadth of Black storytelling.

Crunchyroll’s Black Fandom of Anime panel explored the growing influence of Black anime fans and creators,  while playwright Aleshea Harris (Is God Is)offered insight into her transition from stage to screen.

One of the most emotional moments came during a screening of ESPN’s The Brittney Griner Story. The conversation that followed, featuring Cherelle Griner, Dawn Staley and director Alexandria Stapleton, reflected on resilience, advocacy and perseverance.

Netflix brought together a powerhouse roster for its Celebration of Black Television panel, including Debbie Allen, Courtney Kemp, Michelle Buteau, Mario Van Peebles, Crystal Stewart and Felicia Pride.

Meanwhile, actor Taye Diggs sat down for a candid conversation about career longevity, wellness and financial literacy, offering practical insights drawn from decades in Hollywood.

“Legacy to me is people being able to recall the work that we’ve done and be affected by it,” Diggs shared. “There’s nothing more gratifying than having someone say, ‘I saw this movie, this TV show, this musical, this play, and it really inspired me to do something.’ Even just being inspirational, that to me is a legacy—inspiration.”

And in a rare treat, legendary Tisha Cambell had the crowd laughing with a hilarious stand up routine. 

The Personal Side of Stardom

One of the joys of ABFF is that audiences get to see stars beyond their public personas.

Coco Jones, the Grammy-winning singer and actress opened up to Radio One not only about “Strung,” but also about life, love and what’s next musically.

Jones revealed she is currently working on her second album and embracing a more romantic and self-assured artistic direction.

“It’s going to be very, I love me and it overflows into my life.”

When asked about the secret to a healthy relationship, Jones, who has publicly celebrated her relationship with NBA star Donovan Mitchell, offered a refreshingly grounded answer.

“I think a secret to a good relationship in general is to be humble. I feel like pride comes before the fall and if you can’t grow, if you can’t correct and apologize and forgive, y’all not going nowhere.”

And in one of the lighter moments of the festival, Jones shared her biggest pet peeve:

“Big egos.”

Her “Strung” co-star Chloe Bailey had her own memorable list of pet peeves, revealing that she dislikes mean people and men with long fingernails with dirt underneath them, a response that quickly became one of the more talked-about off-camera moments among festival attendees.

These candid glimpses are part of what makes ABFF special. The stars arrive as celebrities but often leave feeling accessible, relatable and human.

Looking Toward the Future

The festival’s final days continued to deliver headline-making moments.

The cast of “All American” reunited to discuss the show’s final season. Director Tyree Dillihay shared insights into the years-long journey behind the animated feature GOAT, produced by NBA superstar Stephen Curry.

 One of the most anticipated premieres of the weekend was Girl Dad, which brought Michael Rainey Jr. and Marsai Martin to the festival stage following the film’s world premiere. The emotionally layered drama explores family, reconciliation, and the complicated bonds between parents and children, themes that resonated strongly with festival audiences. 

“Thank you to all the beautiful Black girls out there who inspire me every day,” gushed Martin.

T.I. and Terrence J drew crowds for a screening of Thought She Was the One, and the festival closed in signature fashion with the Legendary White Party, where T.I. surprised attendees with a live performance.

Thirty Years Later

What ABFF accomplished in Miami Beach this year extended far beyond premieres, panels and parties.

At a time when conversations around representation continue to evolve, the festival remains proof of what happens when Black creators are given space, visibility and support.

Over the past three decades, ABFF has helped launch careers, elevate new voices and create opportunities for filmmakers who may otherwise have struggled to find an audience.

As Jeff Friday reflected on the festival’s legacy, his words served as a reminder of why ABFF matters.

It was never simply about movies.

It was always about building a community where Black creativity could thrive.

King perhaps summarized the spirit of the weekend best when she described her return to ABFF as “a homecoming – a celebration of our creativity, resilience, and excellence.” Thirty years after its founding, the festival continues to embody all three

Thirty years later, that mission feels as relevant and powerful as ever.

The Culture Creators Leaders and Innovators Awards Brunch celebrates its 10th anniversary with Druski, Janelle James, Jermaine Dupri, and more. Read on to learn about what you can expect from the biggest brunch in culture.

If you have ever attended a Culture Creators Brunch, you know this is the room where the people actually moving culture come to see each other, celebrate each other, and get reminded that everything they have been building matters. On June 26 at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, founder and CEO Joi Brown is celebrating ten years of doing exactly that with an honoree list that is going to have the culture fully invested from the moment the doors open.

According to the official press release, the 10th Annual Leaders and Innovators Awards Brunch is themed “The Future of Culture” and will bring together 400 of the most influential voices across entertainment, media, sports, fashion, business, and technology for what Brown has been calling “Culture’s Biggest Brunch” for a decade. That tagline is earned. Every year, this event puts names on stages before the mainstream has fully caught up, and this year is no different.

The honoree slate is everything. Druski takes home Innovator of the Year, which is well deserved considering he has built a full entertainment empire in the span of a few years from a few online sketches. The man has redefined what it means to be a digital-era comedian, and he has done it on his own terms from the very beginning.

Janelle James — the Critic’s Choice Award-winning and Emmy-nominated star of Abbott Elementary — receives the Film/TV Award. Jermaine Dupri picks up the Icon Award for Music, which is a conversation that probably should have happened years ago, given the catalog he has built and the careers he has launched. Bethann Hardison takes the Fashion Icon Award as the industry trailblazer she has always been. Former NFL player and entrepreneur Andrew Hawkins receives the Sports Award. Jason Lee — whose footprint across media, philanthropy and civic engagement is genuinely impossible to summarize briefly — receives the Trailblazer Award. And the legendary Suzanne de Passe — whose career spans decades of groundbreaking entertainment production, including her work as executive producer on the forthcoming Michael biopic — takes home the Icon Award for Film, TV, and Music.

The brunch will run from 11 AM to 3 PM PT on June 26 at The Beverly Hilton, hosted by Xmayo and featuring a special performance by JayDon. But the most significant announcement tied to this year’s milestone is not just the honorees. As the press release confirms, Culture Creators is launching the Creator Fund — a new Foundation initiative designed to support emerging creators and future-facing storytellers with access, training and capital. Proceeds from the anniversary brunch will directly seed the fund.

Brown put it plainly in her statement: 

“Ten years ago, I wanted to build a room where the people moving culture could finally see each other. A decade later, that room is an ecosystem.” 

As Yahoo Entertainment noted, this brunch has spent a decade doing something the industry rarely does consistently — which is recognize cultural architects before the rest of the world catches up to what they have already built.

Ten years in, and Culture Creators is not slowing down. June 26 is going to be one of those rooms worth talking about long after everyone goes home.

Mimi Faust is making it clear that she still isn’t a fan of her “victim-playing” former Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta cast mate turned Housewife, K. Michelle.

During a June 4 appearance on The Morning Hustle with Lore’l, the reality star was asked about recent comments K. Michelle made while discussing her time on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. According to Lore’l, K. Michelle said she was open to making peace with most people from her past on the show, except Faust and former co-star Rasheeda Frost.

The comment didn’t appear to sit well with Faust.

At the 17:56 mark of the interview, Mimi responded, “What have I ever done to K. Michelle?” When Loriel asked whether the remark bothered her, Faust didn’t hold back.

“One, I never heard her say that, and two, I don’t give a f—k.”

The tension between the two reality stars is nothing new. K. Michelle and Mimi Faust famously clashed on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, where they appeared together as main cast members in the show’s first two seasons.

When asked whether she believes K. Michelle has matured since their reality television days, Faust immediately shut down the idea.

“Absolutely not. Not an ounce. She is the same person, different face. You know, I think it’s cute that she keeps talking about me; it’s really cute. She tries it. She’s a bully, and then she plays the victim, that’s K.”

Faust continued by doubling down on her assessment of the singer.

“She bully, bully, bullies people and then she’ll turn around and cry, cry, cry, and play the victim that’s always been K from way back then. When I figured out who she was, I was like I want no parts of this person.”

K.Michelle and Mimi Faust got into a backstage argument in 2013.

Their rocky history dates back more than a decade. As previously reported, the pair were involved in a backstage altercation at one of K. Michelle’s concerts in 2013. The confrontation began after Mimi approached the singer about comments she had made regarding the sexuality of her then-boyfriend, Nikko London, during season 2 of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. K took zero responsibility for her actions and doubled down, calling Nikko “gay.”

The dispute escalated when the hitmaker struck Mimi with a bouquet of flowers. At the time, Mimi and her publicist released a statement claiming the incident never went beyond the flower slap.

“In actuality, Ms. Faust left the venue and continued her night by visiting and enjoying herself in other New York City prestigious venues,” the statement, obtained by Urban Belle Mag read.

The statement continued:

“Recalling all of the past incidents with K. Michelle and other cast members, she never seems to wants to talk things out; the end results are always violent. That’s not the type of person I am and to continue to fight with K. Michelle would have been pointless.”

K. Michelle later addressed the incident on social media, writing in a since-deleted post:

“You should not have brought your skinny a– 2my show talking crazy 2me. U got popped. You can’t get mad cuz I think your boyfriend is down low.”

A wedge was forged even further between the two after K. Michelle’s infamous candle fight with Rasheeda on Season 2 of #LHHATL.

As for K. Michelle and Rasheeda, their feud produced several memorable moments on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. One of the most talked-about incidents occurred during Mimi’s housewarming party following her split from Stevie J. What was supposed to be a celebration quickly turned chaotic when K. Michelle and Rasheeda Frost nearly came to blows.

The confrontation began after K. Michelle told Rasheeda, “Tell Kirk and his three earrings I said hello,” taking a jab at Kirk Frost’s style. The argument escalated when the singer threw a candle at Rasheeda. Years later, while revisiting the infamous scene during a 2020 interview with VH1, Mimi called out K. Michelle and explained that the aftermath was just as frustrating.

“Do you guys know that I had wax in my sofa? On my walls, over my whole house for—I was finding wax for like months after this situation happened,” she said. “And that’s why she got her whole a– taken out now,” the VH1 alum shadily added. “Rasheeda you was right the entire time!”

Interestingly, despite their long-running issues, there was a brief period when it appeared the two had moved past their differences. During a 2013 interview with VLADTV, Mimi revealed that she and K. Michelle had reconciled. However, judging by her latest comments on The Morning Hustle, that truce clearly didn’t stand the test of time.

Also making an impression on the green was Ariel Collins, a gifted 16-year-old junior golfer from Locust Grove, Georgia, who has been turning heads in the sport since 2016. While the Steve & Marjorie Harvey Foundation focuses on inspiring and uplifting the next generation, Ariel served as a reminder that today’s youth are already making an impact of their own. Throughout the tournament, the young golf standout was spotted sharing tips and techniques with several participants, including Steve Harvey himself, proving that age is no barrier when it comes to leadership, talent, and inspiring others.

Now celebrating 18 years of impact, the Steve & Marjorie Harvey Foundation continues to create opportunities for young people through programs designed to cultivate leadership, confidence, and purpose. Thanks to the support of several sponsors and dedicated partners, proceeds from this year’s tournament will go toward fostering the next generation of women and men leaders.

The foundation recently wrapped its annual girls camp and is preparing for the highly anticipated Steve Harvey Mentoring Program for Young Men later this month. For Steve Harvey, seeing the long-term impact of the program remains one of the most rewarding parts of the journey.

“We produce some fine young men,” he told BOSSIP. “A lot of those young men that were in the camp are now part of running the camp. We have some great young men, engineers, doctors, military personnel, management company leaders and pilots. We produce a lot of great people from the programs.”

One celebrity who continues to show up year after year is comedian and actor Chris Tucker. The longtime friend of Steve Harvey shared why supporting the event remains a priority.

“I like what Steve and Marjorie Harvey are doing with the kids, you know, in the camp and with the youth, and Steve’s a good friend of mine, so, you know, I had to come out and support,” he told BOSSIP. “Steve is cool, down-to-earth and he’s my homeboy.”

Gospel recording artist Isaac Carree also took time to reflect on the importance of service and legacy while supporting the foundation’s mission.

“I hope I leave behind an impact where people can say that my words, my music, and anything that I do can change somebody’s life. It’s all about leaving something for the younger generation and leaving a legacy. You know, I have children, so you want to just make sure that you’re a model citizen and you’re giving back to the community. And that’s why I’m a part of this amazing foundation that Steve and Marjorie Harvey are doing.”

NBA legend Julius Erving, better known as Dr. J, echoed similar sentiments while offering advice for young people navigating their futures.

“I would say to the next generation, be generous with your time, be a good listener, you know, and you can’t learn things about people unless you listen to what they have to say, so you can’t be talking all the time. And, you know, just have an open heart and be able to work hard and just try to better yourself every day.”

As for the man of the hour, Steve Harvey left young people with a message centered on faith, purpose, and ambition.

“Chase your dreams, man. You know, I mean, education is important, but I’ll tell you this. The Bible says a man without a dream or vision shall perish. You gotta chase that dream, man. You can get education, but if your dream is tied to the education, it’s become very important. But nothing supersedes the power of dreaming. Dreaming takes you places you never thought you’d go. Though she was not present on the course, her influence and commitment to the foundation’s mission remained evident throughout the day. Following a three-week trial in Brooklyn Supreme Court, jurors found Popov guilty of first-degree manslaughter as a hate crime, along with second-degree menacing, second-degree aggravated harassment, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was questionably acquitted of the more serious charge of murder as a hate crime, which could have carried a life sentence. Popov is scheduled to be sentenced on June 30 and still faces up to 25 years in prison.

BOSSIP previously reported that the case stemmed from a July 29, 2023, confrontation at a Brooklyn gas station. Sibley, 28, and several friends had stopped for gas after a day at the beach. While listening to music, including songs by Beyoncé, members of the group began dancing. Prosecutors said Popov and others confronted the men, hurling racist and homophobic slurs, allegedly saying, “Get that gay s–t out of here.” To which Sibley allegedly replied, “You don’t know us, we’re just having a good time and enjoying our lives. It’s all respect, we’re allowed to be here just like you.” According to trial testimony, Sibley was attempting to calm the situation by using that language.

Prosecutors argued that Popov continued to antagonize Sibley and his friends, recording them on his phone and making hateful remarks. Evidence presented at trial showed that Popov eventually pulled a knife, threatened one of Sibley’s friends, and then stabbed Sibley in the chest, puncturing his heart. Sibley was pronounced dead shortly afterward at a nearby hospital.

The defense maintained that Popov acted in self-defense. Popov testified that Sibley punched him and that he feared he would be seriously injured. Fortunately, no one on the jury believed that bulls**t. Prosecutors countered that Popov had provoked the confrontation and that the stabbing was motivated by bias against Sibley’s race and sexual orientation, as evidenced by the hate speech spewed prior to the altercation. The jury ultimately rejected the self-defense argument and agreed that the killing constituted a hate crime.

Sibley was a professional dancer who performed with Philadelphia’s Philadanco dance company and studied through the Alvin Ailey Extension program in New York. His death drew widespread attention, with tributes from celebrities including Beyoncé and filmmaker Spike Lee. Following the verdict, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said he hoped the conviction would provide some measure of solace to Sibley’s family, friends, and the LGBTQ+ community, adding that “hate has no place in Brooklyn.”

Celebrity DJ, event curator, and cultural tastemaker C. DeVone is preparing to host the fourth annual edition of her signature experience, But, Is There Wine?!: The Miseducation of Rosé Edition, on June 13 at Buckhead Art & Company as part of Atlanta Champagne Week. What began as a curated gathering centered on wine and community has evolved into a effervescent event, blending music, art, culture, and connection through the lens of modern wine culture.

For DeVone, whose résumé includes DJing internationally in destinations including Africa, Croatia, and Hong Kong, the inspiration behind the event came less from wine expertise and more from the communal experiences she noticed unfolding around a bottle of rosé.

“People started coming to my house with wine all the time,” DeVone told BOSSIP. “I remember playing music and making people feel comfortable and building community. Someone asked what we’d be unpaid spokespersons for, and everybody collectively said rosé for me. It just made sense. Rosé is that social girl. She’s the community. She’s the one who wants to be outside.”

That spirit of accessibility remains central to the event’s mission. While wine culture has historically been viewed as exclusive or intimidating, DeVone says she intentionally creates experiences that welcome newcomers alongside enthusiasts.

“Wine has always had a snobbery attached to it,” she said. “People assume Black people only like certain types of wine. That’s why my events are tailored to let people have different experiences. Maybe you’re not someone who knows everything about wine, but you can still have a good time.”

This year’s theme, inspired by Lauryn Hill’s landmark album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, continues DeVone’s tradition of connecting wine culture to iconic Black music and storytelling. Previous editions have paid tribute to through themes like “Sade & Chardonnay” and an OutKast-inspired The Love Below experience, creating elevated events that feel both sophisticated and culturally familiar.

“I wanted people to understand that rosé isn’t just one thing. It’s not just fruity or dry. It’s all different types. It’s that sound where you look good, you feel good, your makeup’s done, it’s just what speaks to your soul and I think about rosé and music intertwining.”

Guests can expect premium rosé tastings, live DJs, art installations, floral activations, specialty cocktails, curated photo moments, rosé lemonade and popsicles, and both indoor gallery experiences and outdoor street-party energy. A sommelier will also be on hand to answer questions, and guide attendees through different rosé selections.

“We will have a somm if you want to lean about the education of rosé, we’ll have a speciality cocktail and for people who don’t drink wine, there will be water and bites passed around,” said C. Devone. “We try to make it as interactive as possible, and let the guests feel special and left with something.”

The curator also told BOSSIP that the event’s home at Buckhead Art & Company was a deliberate choice. Beyond the venue’s striking aesthetic, DeVone said she was drawn to its role as the Southeast’s largest Black woman-owned gallery spaces and its ability to merge the worlds of art and culture. The owner is also a proud Howard University Bison like C. Devone.

“Once you walk into Buckhead Art & Co., it is breathtaking,” she said. “Then we’re going to add award-winning DJs, we’re going to add rosé and champagne because it’s Atlanta Champagne Week, everything is organic. It works, people just love the art and they might not know about the venue—I like bridging her community and my community together.”

As Atlanta continues priding itself on blending luxury with culture, DeVone is focused on creating experiences that leave a lasting impression long after the last glass is poured.

“I always wanna give more than what people expect. I’m not a promoter, I don’t have an event companty. I truly do this event because I want to connect people through wine, music, and culture,” she told BOSSIP. “I want people to feel like they should have paid more, or they’re like, ‘Hey, you know what? I’m really excited that I got to experience this, it was worth every penny. That’s the kind of the niche that I want to go for.”

Now that’s something worth sipping to.

”Justice” isn’t permanent when it comes to dead Black folks.

According to ABC News, a Colorado appeals court has overturned the homicide convictions of two former Aurora, Colo., paramedics who were found guilty in connection with the 2019 death of Elijah McClain, reigniting debate over accountability in one of the most closely watched police custody cases of the past decade.

BOSSIP reported extensively on McClain, a 23-year-old Black massage therapist, who died after being stopped by police while walking home in Aurora. Officers restrained him and placed him in a neck hold before paramedics Peter Cichuniec and Jeremy Cooper arrived and injected him with ketamine, a powerful sedative. McClain subsequently suffered cardiac arrest and died several days later. His death became a national symbol of racial justice activism following the 2020 murder of George Floyd.

In December 2023, a jury convicted both paramedics of criminally negligent homicide. Cichuniec was also convicted of second-degree assault for unlawfully administering the drug. The convictions were notable because criminal prosecutions of paramedics and emergency medical personnel involved in in-custody deaths are extremely rare.

⁠However, the Colorado Court of Appeals ruled that errors in the jury instructions undermined the homicide convictions. The court ordered the case returned to the district court for possible retrials. While the judges reversed the criminally negligent homicide convictions against both men, they allowed Cichuniec’s separate assault conviction to stand. It should come as no surprise that the decision prompted outrage from McClain’s family. His mother, Sheneen McClain, blasted the ruling on social media.

“I am not surprised by the denial of true justice for American citizens in the hands of government branches who allow criminal behaviors in their police agencies,” she wrote. “They are corrupt and cowardly.”

Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser’s office has vowed to continue fighting the ruling and plans to seek review from the Colorado Supreme Court, a move that could delay any retrial proceedings. Supporters of McClain argue the reversal represents another setback in the long pursuit of justice, while defense attorneys have maintained that the original convictions were legally flawed.

The ruling judge in the case said:

“By telling the jurors to apply the ‘common and ordinary meanings’ of the words in the instruction, the court failed to shine any light on the issue and in fact misled the jurors as to the applicable standard of care: The proper standard wasn’t that of a generic reasonable person but of a person in Cooper’s profession under the existing circumstances,” the ruling reads.

The case remains one of the most significant examples of the legal and political fallout stemming from the national debate over police use of force and the highly controversial use of ketamine on those in police custody.

According to Complex, the singer has flatly rejected Diamond’s custody request, which sought to relegate him to standard visitation rights rather than a shared parenting agreement. Instead, Chris is asking the court for a formal joint legal and physical custody arrangement. Chris’s custody battle will focus heavily on giving both parents equal legal rights and shared daily responsibilities when it comes to raising Lovely, who was born in 2022.

Beyond the physical custody arrangements, the financial dynamics of the split are also being contested. While Diamond’s initial filing requested that Chris be legally ordered to pay for her entire legal team and cover all court costs associated with the case, Chris has pushed back. He requested that the judge order each party to be entirely responsible for their own legal expenses throughout the duration of the dispute.

The legal friction comes after months of animosity between the former couple, which has routinely spilled over into the public eye via social media. Earlier this spring, Diamond took direct aim at Chris on Instagram, publicly accusing the father of four of attempting to actively interfere with her new romantic relationship. While Chris chose not to address the social media shots directly, the situation quickly escalated when his current girlfriend, Jada Wallace, publicly accused Diamond of actively blocking Chris from spending time with Lovely.

Just as news of Chris’s legal response hit the press, Diamond took to her Instagram Story to share a highly re-post that read, “I see why Father’s Day is in Pride month… bunch of b*****s.”

TheShadeRoom reported that she immediately followed the message with a second post defining her role as a parent, writing, “I’m no one’s ‘baby mama’ and never will be. I’m a full-time hard-working and loving mother. I’m my child’s mother, and I’m a damn good one. Now check THAT!…”

Chris’s custody battle comes at the same time that he became a father again. In late April 2026, the singer and his girlfriend, Jada Wallace, officially welcomed a baby boy.

Lovely is Chris’s third child, and he has a well-documented history of navigating co-parenting relationships in the public eye. The entertainer is also the father of 12-year-old Royalty Brown, whom he named his 2015 studio album after, as well as six-year-old Aeko Catori Brown, whom he shares with model Ammika Harris.

Kevin Durant tried to enjoy a quiet dinner at Nobu Malibu with a woman rumored to be a certain former flame, but the internet quickly turned the outing into online chatter. And while the NBA player may have simply been grabbing a meal, social media had plenty of questions and, as usual, KD had a few responses of his own.

As the Daily Mail reported, Durant was spotted out at Nobu Malibu with a mystery woman, and photos circulated online showing him attempting to avoid cameras as they left the restaurant together. Durant even hid behind a bush in what turned out to be a deeply unsuccessful attempt to stay out of frame. Meanwhile, his date walked ahead of him in a printed top and black leather ankle boots, with sleek, straight hair. KD eventually followed behind in a flannel shirt, yellow beanie, and jeans. A grown man with NBA Finals experience and multiple championship rings chose a bush as his cover strategy. The paparazzi were not impressed, and neither was the internet. 

Once the photos went viral, the detective division of social media got to work immediately. As The Shade Room shared, fans online believe they have identified the mystery woman as Cassandra Anderson, Durant’s ex-girlfriend. Kevin and Cassandra reportedly dated on and off between 2017 and late 2018.

Cassandra, a former college volleyball player and real estate agent, kept things low-key with KD while they were together. The internet cross-referenced old photos, matched the silhouette, and declared the case closed within approximately 45 minutes of the original pictures dropping. 

KD noticed the frenzy and had exactly one thing to say about all of it. Durant slid directly into The Shade Room comments to let folks know he was simply trying to enjoy himself.

“God forbid a man enjoys a nice dinner,” he commented on the post.

Durant delivered seven words with the energy of a man who knew the commentary was coming and decided to lean into it anyway. We respect the brevity. 

Neither Durant nor Cassandra has confirmed whether the woman in the photos is actually her, and she has not made any public comment on the speculation. KD has kept his dating life almost entirely private since his split from Cassandra back in 2018, and whatever this dinner was, he clearly intended to keep it in that same lane. The bush plan just did not cooperate.

The comments under every post covering this story have been exactly what you would expect. Fans are fully invested, armchair detectives are still working the case and a significant portion of the internet is simply rooting for KD to find his person in peace. That last group has good intentions but clearly underestimates how loud the other groups will be before this settles down.

Created and hosted by the incredibly dynamic Tai Beauchamp, the series brings together an all-star Board of Advisors, including Egypt Sherrod, Bevy Smith, Brandi Harvey, Yaya DaCosta, and Judy Dupart to mentor women through both personal and professional crossroads using what the show calls the L.O.V.E. Metrics: Leadership, Ownership, Vision, and Evolution along with personal mentoring from Beauchamp to help keep them inspired even after the cameras are done rolling.

Looking at Tai’s journey, this project feels less like a television show and more like the culmination of her life’s work. From breaking barriers as the youngest and first Black Beauty and Fitness Director at Seventeen Magazine to building transformative wellness communities through Morning Mindset with Tai to co-founding the groundbreaking fragrance brand BROWN GIRL Jane, Tai has consistently created spaces where women feel seen, empowered, and equipped to evolve, and now she’s helping inspire the next generation to do the same.

In this conversation, we’re diving into the inspiration behind The Shift, why this moment matters so deeply, and how Tai continues to redefine what leadership, wellness, and community look like for women everywhere.

Let me start by telling you how you’re serving as a blueprint, because I think that part of the issue with today’s entrepreneurs, and why we’re seeing so many of these women just being burnt out, myself included, is that I am in that reinvention period where it’s like, oh my goodness, because you give so much. But what you said is such an overlooked aspect of business—that it takes time, and we don’t hear those stories anymore. I think being in a social media culture where it feels like everybody’s getting rich overnight makes you feel like, “Well, I need to grind harder.” So you’re putting yourself on the back burner to try to keep up with the “Joneses,” per se.

Listen, what you just gave was a sermon and also a prophecy, quite frankly, because I feel that so deeply. I feel that so deeply within my spirit. I think people might have a perception of who I am, but I am so deeply centered in my spiritual awareness, in God’s presence, that it’s what’s been played and said in my head and in my spirit. Knowing how people are moving, the ambition that people have, and what they’re being driven toward, the fame, the celebrity, the virility, the moment of celebration, the moment of accolade, is missing the mark. It’s missing the mark, and so many people are focused on that because of technology, social media, and the lifestyles that we now, I don’t want to say even live, but that we seek to capture to demonstrate how we’re supposedly living, but it’s only a sliver of it. It is so wild to me, Tiffany. These are the things I think about all the time. So you’re speaking to my spirit, girl. Exactly. That’s a whole different conversation. You’re going to be like, ‘What?’ That’s a whole different conversation.”

A completely different conversation! I love your show, The Shift, and even just watching your journey on social media. Personally, you’re living it out every day, whether you know it or not, which is why I was excited to do this interview because it’s coming at a time when Black women really need to feel seen and supported.

The sad part is that people [nowadays] aren’t on social media looking for these opportunities to really be poured into and supported. I do believe that it’s necessary, and that more people could benefit than perhaps I could even imagine, but it’s not where people are plugged in for the most part, and that is part of even the truth of what I’ve had to say to myself as a creator and as an executive producer and as a host of something that I was able to bring to birth, something that’s been in my heart and spirit to light. I also have to reconcile for myself, yes, it’s out in the world, and my goal is to touch as many people as possible. But if it only touches 25 people or 25,000 people and not 25 million people, I’ve got to be good with that because social media isn’t a place that is celebrating this type of work.

Facts. See, we are already on the same page, because that was kind of my point. I feel like you not only took this moment with the show to catapult the narrative of “Hey, Black women, this is how you can balance, live your life, and still chase your dreams,” and it’s giving us the ability to see that it’s not selfish to take that vacation or to take that time for yourself.

Yes!

Because we get so caught up, but then the other side of that is many women right now, especially Gen Z, are battling loneliness, self-doubt, uncertainty, etc., and to see you be this vulnerable and say, “This is just one thing. I got 1,000 other things going on.” Because I know I can do that even when it gets shaky, is the transparency that, honestly, the culture in general needs, whether it’s Black women, Black culture, whatever. It’s time for us to start seeing people really out here grinding and seeing the truth, even about people who are multimillionaires, because this idea that we’re supposed to get rich and just sit down isn’t reality.

Well, it’s not reality, and it’s not real. This is a deeper conversation. Right now, I’m taking this call from Joshua Tree, California, because I am the person who has to go off the grid, for lack of a better term. I have to disconnect from the status quo we believe we’re meant to perpetuate for the sake of being seen or celebrated. It’s not who I am, and I think that’s going to be the demise of humanity overall.

I’ve been talking a lot about that as I pivot and grow and expand Morning Mindset with Tai, not only to reach people, but in the type of programs that we do and the partners that we have and where and how we show up. Because if we don’t connect more intentionally, humanity is being missed, and that was the point of The Shift. And this is where I have to say gratitude to my team, who helped bring this to fruition, Princess, EJ, Derek, the team at Crowd, and my partners at BET, who allowed me to bring this forth.

Prayerfully, it’ll continue, and there will be more resources to actually do it the way I want to, because when I tell you, this was a labor of love. Making TV in 2026 is not the same as it was when I started in 2013 or 2014. The resources are different. The allocation of those resources means different talent and people who come on the show, the wonderful stable of board members, like mentors, Egypt Sherrod, Bev Smith, Judy Dupart, Brandy Harvey, and Yaya Dacosta, who said yes to me, flew into Atlanta to be with me, not because I was paying them what they deserved and what their rate should be.

I couldn’t afford to do that just yet with this production. And their “yes” was proof positive of why this show was necessary: women like us, who are seasoned and experienced, want to pour into the next generation. We want to make sure that Gen Z doesn’t feel lonely, doesn’t feel as aimless, misguided, or misdirected, because they have a real tribe and community. That is what we’re supposed to do.

That type of hand-holding is the same hand-holding that gave birth to the civil rights movement. That type of hand-holding is the same hand-holding that gave rise to authors like bell hooks. And even when there was a lack of hand-holding then, it was the individuals who had the gumption to create something that said, “Look, this is not just singularly about me flexing for a picture in front of a jet. It’s about how I can help this next generation understand that they deserve to fly.”

That’s why I love that you said that we’re not just giving makeovers, we’re shifting mindsets, because that’s a fact. You’re giving us that. Even with the women who are there with you, Egypt, Bev, those are powerful women, and all of you have shared your journey every step of the way from the beginning to now; so you couldn’t have picked a better crew. Sticking with the show, what is your goal with that group? I know we talked about their gratitude and participation, but they also bring specific skill sets. And so what was your thought process behind this show?

Thank you; it was very intentional. So with the five women who said yes to me, it was very intentional, and I was grateful. In the deck outlining how we were presenting and pitching the show to BET and others, I was very clear. We were deciding who to partner with based on the mentee we ultimately cast. And so, what I will say is that, in casting this, we received more than 150 submissions in less than a day and a half.

And this was a very quick turnaround cast because this is a smaller production. But I was very intentional. When I met Kiana, saw her profile of what she was trying to do, sat in on casting sessions with her, reviewed her tape, and did the research, that’s when we knew that, for someone who needs confidence, it’s Bev Smith. It’s Yaya Dacosta, because they each bring their different set of expertise.

The same thing with Egypt Sherrod and Judy Dupart with Miasia, I knew that as a former radio host herself, Miasia was going to see herself in Egypt, and vice versa. Egypt has become a real estate powerhouse in her own right, and the same thing goes for Judy with building Kaleidoscope Beauty. The way that Judy has been so transparent about her journey, like as a young mom doing hair and then making it into this $35 million-plus business, that texture and the grit with which Judy had to do it is the same grit that Miasia is approaching her shoetique with. That’s what we are meant to be doing. So when I thought about the cast, I was intentional about who the women are, one, who have wisdom and lived experience, but also can drill down on some facts.

I don’t want the pontificating, no shade, but the Dr. Bryants coming on and just calling themselves doctors…

Hello! Don’t have me passing the offering plate in here.

[Laughs] I want people with lived, trusted experience and wisdom, and the heart and the spirit to deliver it in the spirit of love, in the spirit of care. Not to break these young women down, even if they’re trying to figure it out, but to give them the motivation and the encouragement. That was intentional. And my vision is broader: I’m working on a tech platform that will extend the work of The Shift to the masses via technology, in a space where people can come and learn from seasoned experts in their own fields.

That’s the same for when we come back for season 2 and season 3; I want to utilize women’s expertise. We want to take it to Dallas. We want to take this to Houston, but we also have the women of expertise and note in those spaces who are the seasoned generation, along with the younger people coming to that home as well. It’s meant to be a village-style community because that’s how we are. That’s who we are. That’s how I knew my grandmother operated in our home. When cousins were coming in from the Virgin Islands and needed homes or places to stay, or when cousins and everyone were coming in from Jamaica, they came to our home. It was a place of refuge. So I take that literally, but it is also metaphorical about how we’ve always been.

Even in the most challenging economic times, Black people have always been the most philanthropic. It took Robin Hood to coin the term “philanthropy” in that way, but we’ve always been charitable. We were always making food for the families down the street and babysitting. That’s philanthropy. And so the heart and the spirit of that was not just about us making ends meet, but that was the birth of Black Wall Street.

That’s us coming together as an ecosystem. The shift in mindset, even for busy women like Brandi Harvey, Egypt, Judy, Bevy, and Yaya, is that we can make time for our people and for the important things. Like the shift in the idea that we don’t do things together. Ryan gave me The Gathering Spot at no cost, as did Teresa Caldwell, The Taste, and then came on the show to help make Kiana over. When I created the mixer at the end, for Kiana to show that she could introduce herself and meet people. All of the people who showed up for that mixer were real people, people that I know in Atlanta, who are executives in Atlanta, and they came.

They not only came to the event but also showed a lot of love and support!

Like my Morehouse brother came. They came to this mixer to meet Kiana. People have talked to her after that. That’s what this show is about. This show is about truly being something that you can watch and learn and live from, you can be entertained by because we had our moments of entertainment, and trust me, with season 2, we’re going to have even more because we want it to be raw and truthful and honest, but you also have these moments of where you’re seeing us really standing the gap for one another.

I love that a lot, but that is another thing and another point I love about the show. As an Xennial myself, I know and remember what the true village looked like, and I see it making the necessary resurgence now.

Definitely.

To see that not only was your mission to build that village, but that you’re doing it properly is not only amazing, but it’s got me over here just like, “Oh my gosh, she has to win and everything.” Because even when you’re talking about the legacy of your grandmother, you’re talking about the reset houses where you have that family member who lets you stay there.

Yes! Exactly.

That’s exactly what you’re doing, and to me, the very fact that it’s intentional through what we’re seeing through your creative practice and through art and through this business partnership, to me, it’s amazing. Coupled with the fact that it’s all-inclusive, it’s the part I love most. This isn’t about creating baddies or superwomen who look pretty. You are all-inclusive, and that’s something that I love that was intentional as well.

Thank you so much, it’s my heart, and I’ll be honest, it’s like I’m grateful to have this heart and have this desire. Now my focus, even for myself, you talked from your own truth as a Xennial; I’m a Gen X-er. We’re going to experience seasons of having to shift again and again.

Part of it is that we believe the shift happens once, and it’s some kind of cataclysmic event that resets everything for the rest of your life. The truth of the matter is that it will not be the case. You are going to be allowed to shift so many times in your life, and it’s whether we meet it with intention, with fortitude, with wisdom, with grace for ourselves, with compassion for ourselves, and in partnership, that’s the question. And I face that all the time professionally. This has been one of the most financially unstable seasons of my 20-year entrepreneurial journey. I’ve been an entrepreneur for 20 years. I’m sitting here looking at the revenue, and it’s like when I first started doing well in my career, when I started making six figures when I was in my 20s. I’m looking at times like, “Wow, this is different. I have to shift.” I think being clear about the awakening that you are given an opportunity to shift, and will you choose it?

Ooh, that’s it. And again, going back to The Shift, because I love how both your life and the show are parallel. It’s almost like it’s giving the baseline and then showing us how to keep going. One of the things I love about it is that you’re continuing to pour into them in the show by giving them a heartfelt letter. How important was that to you, and why is that something that you felt was important to do for them?

Well, that’s a really good question. I remember my co-EP and I talking, and I was like, “We got to put a bow on the end of this,” I said, “because I don’t want them to walk away even…” Because I’ll be honest, even in parts of the show, because I’m also the host of the show, and my intention with being the host was to lend expertise where I can and where I know, but also to be a conduit for the mentees to engage with Bevy, Yaya, Egypt, Jesseca, and Brandy.

So it was a fine balance; I knew that with them coming on the show, I wanted it to be pleasant, but shifting is not easy. Even when you come into your family member’s house to reset, you’ve got to get to the root of some hard truths sometimes, too.

Very true.

So I was very conscious and thoughtful about making sure that they didn’t walk away feeling defeated or discouraged because we gave them a list of things.” And the show is only 15 minutes. Each episode we shot over the course of a day, so know that there was a lot more happening in those moments and this was our first season, so we’re still trying to fine-tune all of the elements of the show.

So I was like, by writing them a letter, it personalizes it, so they know we’re coming from a place of truth. It also buttons the experience up so they can hear, with a loving ear and, hopefully, an open heart, how I want to see them move forward. It creates that ripple effect. And so the letter was really just sharing my heart, and thank you for recognizing that.

I love it. What are some of the most powerful or emotional breakthroughs that you saw?

Wow, this season, that’s interesting. We only shot three. So I think Kiana and Myasia were both wonderfully impactful, and again, it’s because I talk to them. But Myasia is ready to leap. She’s renaming her business. She literally just had a call with me a couple of days ago, brainstorming new names and asking me what I was thinking about it. But I’m really humbled by each of the different truths we faced that are real for so many women. I know so many people who are like, “I don’t know what to do with this business. How do I bring this back?” I know so many people who don’t have confidence in real-time. I know so many people who are so gifted, like Defyne, with all these gifts and talents, but she is wrestling with how to show up to make ends meet so she can fully live out all the ways she could.

What is your vision for the next season?

My hope is to bring this to the masses. I’m grateful for this opportunity with BET and to have this be a wonderful way for us as Black women to connect, but I could see men being on the show in the future. I could see people of different ages and stages in life because, again, the shift never ends. There were women when we were casting who were like, “You asked for people between the ages of 25 and, I think, 35,” and because of the intergenerational idea. But someone was like, “I’m 55, and I would like to be on the show.” And that’s real.

That right there. I love how, as women, we are reinventing ourselves every step of the way. Because, for me, to your point about the pivoting, I don’t think that, as women, we understand a lot of times what burnout looks like. We’ll still keep going, like Defyne’s story. I feel like it was one of those moments where she wanted to show up, but it was so much, and she didn’t want to fail again. I feel like that’s where a lot of women get stuck because then you just keep doing what’s working, not knowing you got to put that step forward and try something new. By discovering and doing that, I feel like it’s you discovering who you are. You’re getting to know more and more of yourself outside the label you have for yourself.

That’s spiritual. That’s a spiritual thing. That was part of my own awakening in this stage of the middle ages of my life. Like, really, because that’s who you are. People are born creative.

Exactly. Think about it, as a baby, you don’t know when to cry. You don’t know when to reach for food. You know. And as a child, when you think about a baby who starts to crawl, you’re exploring. You don’t know how to touch the stove because everything is open. There’s creativity. Then we spend the entire first part of our lives, from your parents to going into school, they’re putting you into constructs and telling you, “Don’t do this. You do this. Don’t do this.” So then we lose our sense of creativity.

But as you get older and become more aware and more conscious, you reconnect with that creativity, and the dream continues to expand. The dream becomes different. You have to have a new dream because once you’ve lived parts of a dream, whether or not you’ve achieved it exactly or that was just part of the journey, that was just part of that dream’s journey, then you’ve got to have another dream journey.

That’s the reality of our lives, and I don’t know, it feels really good to be at this stage to have awareness about that. I think even from my own work and my own purpose in life, it’s like how do I live that out? I’ve lived that out in many ways. I’ve said to people all the time, “My purpose on this earth is to help more people, especially women and Black women, to be fully expressed.” That’s my gift.

I can connect with people to help them see, feel, love, and understand themselves. It’s just a gift that I have. But I’ve always said I could do that as a magazine writer. I could do that on TV. I could do that, starting a program in Newark [New Jersey] as I did. I can do that in many ways because I’m not attached to how I do it; I’m more connected to the why behind what I do. That’s why The Shift is so important to me.

I’m thinking about all the expansion and opportunities, and my prayer in this season is that those resources will find me so that I can stand it up even more.

Jordyn Woods has become an important fixture for a lot of Knicks fans, showing off her extravagant outfits before every game as she supports her fiancé, Karl-Anthony Towns.

The Knicks are up 2-0 against the San Antontio Spurs in the NBA Finals, and tonight, they’re back at home for Game 3. While New Yorkers are ecstatic to have their team back in town, Trump’s expected attendance has thrown a huge wrench in things.

Madison Square Garden and the United States Secret Service announced a special no-bag policy in place for Game 3, which presents a challenge for Woods as she brings a “lucky” purse to each game. In their statement announcing the move, they encouraged fans in attendance to “limit personal items to an absolute minimum.”

In her Instagram Stories on June 8, Jordyn shared a post from ABC 7’s Jaysha Patel discussing the new policy’s implications on her superstition.

“President Trump will be attending game 3 of the NBA Finals. There is a strict no bag policy tonight,” the reporter wrote, “But please tell me [Woods] is the exception and she can bring her lucky bag.”

She added in her Story, “Even the news knows how important the bag is .”

While a lot of arenas have strict bag policies, celebrities are often the exception, so it’s still a mystery whether or not Jordyn will be able to bring her lucky bag along.

She previously opened up about her purse in an interview with Vogue following Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

“Once playoffs start, everything becomes part of the ritual if we keep winning,” Woods explained to the magazine. “We’re nine wins in, and now I have my lucky Woods by Jordyn bag, my game-day GRWMs on TikTok, and a watch I refuse to take off. At this point, I’m not risking changing anything.”

“I created a sample of the Tux Clutch Mini specifically for the playoffs,” She added of her bag. “I wore it for Game 1 during one of my TikTok GRWMs, and ever since then we’ve kept winning, so now it’s officially become the lucky bag…It’s gotten to the point where if people don’t see me carrying it during a close game, they start blaming me for changing the routine.”

“So let’s just say the bag isn’t leaving my side anytime soon,” Jordyn concluded.

What Happened At Lunch?

K. Michelle quickly confronted Drew over comments she made during their heated altercation in Dallas, specifically accusing Drew of saying she “didn’t belong” in the friend group. In response, Drew encouraged the country singer to be more direct about what was bothering her.

“You did tell her she didn’t belong in the group,” Shamea, who attended the meeting as a mediator, reminded Drew.

Throwing a little shade of her own, Drew fired back by reminding K. Michelle that she needed to start “speaking up” for herself if she had a problem. The comment only seemed to fuel the singer’s frustration.

“I think I’m doing very good at controlling myself and I spoke up enough about it,” K.Michelle shared, to which Drew calmly clapped back, “I havent heard anything.”

Before the conversation could get any further, K. Michelle abruptly got up and left, hopping into Shamea Morton’s car while leaving her Chanel purse behind at the table.

“Am I making her uncomfortable?” Drew asked a puzzled-looking Shamea before watching K. Michelle drive away. “I rattled her that much? I have not done anything to this lady.”

Looking back on the tense exchange, Drew questioned why K. Michelle refused to have a direct conversation with her in an interview with Decider on Sunday (June 7).

“I would like to know what I allegedly did…I’m somebody who’s like, ‘Let’s just talk.’ I was there with no backup. It was just me. Let’s have a face-to-face [conversation]. What did I do?” she explained. “It was crickets. You can’t even have a conversation and you leave your Chanel? What are we doing? This is performative. It’s dramatics at best.”

The drama didn’t end there.

Shamea And Drew Sidora Got Into A Heated Argument

After K. Michelle’s departure, Drew and Shamea found themselves in a heated argument. Shamea accused Drew of repeatedly bringing up K. Michelle and her rumored boyfriend, Blakk Tatted, who allegedly once DM’d K with a compliment. Drew denied the accusation, insisting that Shamea was helping spread false narratives and should instead encourage her friend to address the issue directly.

According to Drew, K. Michelle needed to have a direct conversation with her about whatever problem she had.

“She needs to speak up for herself. I’m not talking to the spokesperson,” she told Shamea. “You’re being her lapdog.”

Shamea wasn’t having it and fired back:

“I’m sitting here saying I understand both sides and you just called me her lapdog. I think you’re rude.”

The comment prompted Shamea to walk off and join K. Michelle in the car. Once reunited, the pair began mocking Drew’s recent performance of the National anthem.

“People be so rude,” Drew said after seeing her co-stars pettily making fun of her performance.

Drew later stopped by Watch What Happens Live following the episode, where she described K. Michelle and Shamea’s behavior as “performative” and “dramatic.” As for K. Michelle, Drew admitted she’s still confused about why the newest Housewife seems to have an issue with her.

“I feel like it was for a moment cuz I don’t really know where this issue came from…I don’t even think she knows to [laughter] be honest. You know, I asked her and she didn’t tell me what the issue was…It’s like a scheme. It’s like this hidden deep down somewhere. We’re all trying to figure it out. I think I’m confused just like everybody else.”

Fans online appeared to agree too, with one netizen writing: 

“K better be ready with some receipts and explanations at this reunion. Cause girl what.”

Another person penned:

“Their [Shamea and K. Michelle] behavior is actually not funny or fun to watch anymore. The scene with Drew shamea and k was actually sad— k walking out prematurely, Shamea constantly running away from confrontation in scenes, ugh.”

Drew hopes to make amends with K. Michelle, but has her “eye on” Shamea.

During her interview with Decider, Drew expressed hope that she’d find common ground with K. Michelle at the upcoming reunion.

“I’m ready to get to know her if she’s open to it,” Sidora said. “We have not had that many conversations, and when we did, it almost got aggressive, as you saw in Dallas. I just want her to understand, you’ve got to be able to take the tea, take the shade, and it’s okay.”

However, the Housewife has her “eye on” Shamea, whom she believes is stirring up drama amongst the cast.

“There’s a lot of mess going on over there,” the actress and singer revealed. “When some of the ladies get together, we’re having fun, we’re celebrating, we’re supporting each other. It’s a sisterhood. And then over there, it’s just a lot going on that’s just giving messy, delusional, delulu. Hopefully, it’ll come out.”

Becoming the first female rapper to perform on the Tony Awards stage, Meg performed during the opening number as her character Zidler from Moulin Rouge! The Musical. While doing her number alongside host Pink and other Broadway stars, Thee Stallion looked stunning in a black and gold corset, a red velvet coat, a top hat to finish the look.

Later that same night, the Houston hottie changed into something that better represents her personal style as she presented the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical. For this segment, she wore a sheer, halter-neck gown with 3D details on the hips, showing off her bawwwwdy.

Megan’s appearance at the Tony Awards comes following her debut on Broadway earlier this year, where she played Zidler in Moulin Rouge!. She was the first woman to take on the role, following runs from actors including Tituss Burgess, Boy George, Bob the Drag Queen, and Wayne Brady.

The rapper took on the role for several weeks before abruptly announcing an early exit from the show. This came following her unfortunate breakup from Klay Thompson and a health scare during a performance from exhaustion.

The decorated Olympian took to her Instagram Story to share the alarming update with her millions of followers, calling the incident “one of, if not the scariest experience of my life.”

“I’m not one to normally share things like this because I value privacy in today’s age,” Biles wrote on her Instagram Stories. “But almost dying wasn’t on my bingo card earlier this week.”

“This was one of, if not the scariest experience of my life. Especially since Jonathan [Owens] was in Indy for practices,” she continued.

In the Instagram Story, fans could see Biles’ right hand and arm covered with multiple hospital bands, a visual that immediately sparked concern across social media.

“I’ve been in bed resting this week, I’ll explain sooner or later but s/o to my close circle who reached out, checked in, visited & or sent flowers,” Biles continued on her Instagram Stories. “Loooovveeee y’all.”

The Ohio native later shared additional Instagram Stories highlighting the love she has received during her recovery. One post featured beautiful flower arrangements sent by loved ones, while another showed the superstar athlete cozied up in bed with her dogs as she relaxed and watched television.

The health update comes as many sports fans continue to speculate about whether Biles will return to competition for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. At the moment, the gymnastics legend remains undecided about what her future in the sport looks like.

“I’m really trying to enjoy life, to spend time with my husband (Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens), go support him at his games, live my life as a woman,” she said in an April interview with French sports daily L’Equipe. “I’ve accomplished so much in my sport. For me to come back, it would really have to excite me.”

She also acknowledged the physical demands that come with competing at the highest level.

“Whether on the apparatus or in the stands, I still don’t know that,” she told L’Equipe. “But 2028 seems so far away, and my body is aging. I felt it in Paris.”

In a recent sit-down with Vulture, Regina got transparent about her life, her career, and what it’s been like to be Hollywood’s best-kept secret despite being one of the best in the business. When talking about the early years of her time in the industry, she revealed the roles that she lost that felt like big losses, at the time, including the role of Yvette.

“And then, of course, there are other roles I went and auditioned for and didn’t get, but then I loved who got it,” she said. “I love Taraji P. Henson in Baby Boy—I auditioned for that, but she was amazing.”

Hall also opened up about her experience working with the Wayans family on the original Scary Movie franchise, helmed by Keenan Ivory Wayans, and what it taught her about comedic acting.

“Keenan’s guidance was to be in the moment and have fun. I just read it and would see the space for humor,” she explained. “I don’t know if you can teach it to that degree, but you can certainly encourage it, foster it, and manipulate it, and I think Keenan knew how to do that. He gave me such creative room and support.”

She continued,

“The biggest thing he said to me and Anna Faris was “There’s no vanity in comedy.” That acknowledgment from someone who really understood comedy and whom I respected so much was incredibly encouraging, and that’s what enables you to risk it. I learned that kind of instinctiveness working with him.”

This past awards season, Regina was back in the spotlight as Paul Thomas Anderson’s film One Battle After Another became one of the most lauded movies of the year. Though Teyana Taylor’s performance earned her a Golden Globe, film lovers showered Regina with just as much praise and gawked at how she was all but ignored when it came to nominations. For Regina, though, it’s just another part of the job.

“In the moment, I always want to do great work; that’s really my goal,” she said. “If an award comes out of that, then that’s great. You want to do award-worthy work, but my head doesn’t live in that space. I feel really happy, and I love when I’m working. I also love when I’m not working too—by choice, I should say.”

Things are developing quickly in this case, and the tension is rising every single day.

According to NBC DWF, the murder trial of Karmelo Anthony took a major step forward on its third day as prosecutors officially rested their case after presenting testimony aimed at proving the then-17-year-old intentionally escalated a dispute in the Dallas suburb of Frisco, at track meet that ended with the death of fellow teenager Austin Metcalf. Much of the day’s testimony focused on eyewitness accounts from students who witnessed the moments leading up to the fatal stabbing. Several witnesses described a verbal dispute after Anthony was asked to leave the Memorial team tent during a weather delay. According to testimony, Anthony repeatedly refused requests to move and at one point allegedly warned, “touch me and find out.”

An unidentified 17-year-old witness was cross-examined by the state and asked to confirm a previous statement that Karmelo was defiant when told by Metcalf to leave the athlete’s tent, saying, “Make me.” The teenager also testified that Karmelo put his hands inside a backpack during the verbal exchange.

“How did you take that?” Wirskye asked.

“I thought he is capable of doing a violent act,” the witness answered.

“Austin didn’t punch him, did he?” asked Wirskye.

“No, sir,” the witness answered. “He was trying to just get a hold of him and move him out.”

“You see the shove, you expect a shove back?” asked Wirskye.

“Yes, sir,” the witness answered.

One student testified that Metcalf did eventually shove Anthony after the exchange became increasingly tense. This shove represents the first physical contact that either boy made with the other during the dispute. Witnesses described the shove as neither especially aggressive nor insignificant, a detail that could prove critical as jurors weigh Anthony’s claim that he feared for his safety.

Prosecutors used the testimony to support their argument that Anthony introduced deadly force into what began as a relatively minor disagreement. Their witnesses largely portrayed Anthony as confrontational during the encounter and suggested he had opportunities to de-escalate before the situation turned deadly.

After presenting those witnesses, the state rested its case, shifting the focus to the defense, reports NBC DFW.

Anthony’s attorneys then called football and track coach Adam Linwood, whose testimony was designed to support the self-defense argument. Linwood discussed the physical differences between Anthony and Metcalf and testified about how Anthony may have perceived the confrontation. The defense has consistently argued that Anthony reacted to being physically confronted and believed he was in danger when Metcalf shoved him. Linwood’s testimony marked the beginning of the defense’s effort to convince jurors that Anthony’s actions were the result of a split-second decision made during a rapidly escalating confrontation rather than an intentional act of murder.

The closely watched trial is expected to continue with additional defense witnesses. Jurors will ultimately decide whether Anthony’s actions constituted murder, as prosecutors contend, or lawful self-defense, as his attorneys argue. If convicted of first-degree murder, Anthony faces a potential sentence ranging from five years to life in prison.

The theater community gathered in New York City on June 7 for the 2026 Tony Awards, celebrating the actors, actresses, musicians, directors, and creatives who keep Broadway going. In an interview on the Reality Nightcap podcast, Drew opened up about her life amid the knock-down drag-out divorce from Ralph Pittman. As BOSSIP previously reported, the contentious couple went from racing each other to the courthouse to file the paperwork, to a legal battle over whether Ralph could kick out the actress and her oldest son from a previous relationship from the marital home. As she looks to the future with optimism, she says one person is worth a another look.

We get it, sis! During a game of Never Have I Ever, The Game alum was asked about any past relationships she’d want to revisit. Most didn’t make the cut to “circle the block,” but she admitted, “There is one if, you know, they called, I would answer.”

At first, Drew played coy about the connection. “It’s been online. Someone just posted a picture of us at the NAACP Awards together,” she said. “Do your Googles,” the host said, as a production assistant pulled up the deets about Drew’s low-key love with MBJ. Drew joked that it suddenly started getting hot as the host laid out that the exes were both actors, and family-oriented, making the Sinners star a prime step-dad candidate.

“Whoa, are you going to marry us or something?” Drew asked.

The Mind Your Business baddie said she’s excited to embrace her single era, but she’s determined to take her time while focusing on work and her children. Drew noted that she sees the importance to “build friendship first” and get to know each other, rather than the whirlwind romance that led her to get married in five months.

Despite the three-year divorce, which is currently at trial, Drew confirmed that she would still do it again. And that inspired the cover of her new song “How Does It Feel,” where she rocks a wedding dress with a bloody twist. However, next time, she would approach things differently, standing on business. In her marriage to Ralph, she had no interest in pre-nups and post-nups, but that set them up for a messy melee in court over custody and assets.

“Through divorce, it’s like no one really wins,” she said about the “emotionally draining” process. Her biggest concern is that her children are old enough to read the headlines and come across the videos about the split, which unfolded during Drew’s tenure on RHOA.

When the singer isn’t going through her own personal War of Roses ridiculousness with Ralph, she has plenty of drama on her hands from her beef with K. Michelle. Drew still claims to have no idea what started the static, but time will tell as the season continues.

This is not about one or two films that the culture will flock to and then forget about by Labor Day. We are talking about a sustained, genre-spanning, director-driven wave of storytelling that covers psychological thrillers, horror, action comedies, prestige dramas, sci-fi and epic mythology, all with Black talent at the center. The cinema is about to become a destination again and the people delivering that energy are ours.

From May all the way through the end of summer, there is something dropping nearly every month that was made for us, by us and absolutely deserves our dollars and our conversation. The streaming era has its place but the films on this list were built for the big screen experience and that distinction matters.

What makes this particular summer feel different from others is the range of voices behind these projects. You have first-time feature directors stepping into major studio releases. You have legacy filmmakers returning with new visions. You have prestige productions from the biggest names in Hollywood placing Black actors at the center of massive stories that would have been casted completely differently a decade ago. And then you have genre films that are doing something genuinely new with horror, thriller and comedy in ways that remind you why Black filmmakers and performers have always been the most innovative people in the room (when the industry actually lets them operate freely).

The conversation about representation in Hollywood is only worth having if people actually show up. Every ticket purchased for a Black-led film this summer is a vote cast for more of this. More risk-taking. More genre diversity. More stories that reflect the full spectrum of who we are and what we are capable of creating. Shaquille O’Neal is taking his larger-than-life presence from the court, commercials and TV screens into a different kind of storytelling lane. The NBA legend has teamed with Archie Comics for a new comic book series titled Vengeance Unchained: The Legend of Black Caesar, a project centered on the rise of the legendary Black pirate whose story has lived somewhere between history, folklore and the kind of untold Black adventure Hollywood usually leaves on the table. The series is expected to hit shelves later this year and will be written by Stephanie Williams, with art from Ray-Anthony Height and Studio Skye-Tiger.

The official story follows an African king who is ripped from royalty, forced into slavery and eventually pushed into piracy while searching for the woman he loves. That alone tells you why Shaq would be drawn to it. This isn’t just a pirate story with a Black face dropped into it; it’s being framed as a story about power being stolen, freedom being fought for and one man refusing to let the world decide how his story ends. Shaq said he grew up loving stories about warriors who refused to quit, and he described Black Caesar as a king who lost everything before taking his freedom back on his own terms.

For people who never heard of Black Caesar, that’s kind of the whole point. Depending on which version of the legend you follow, Black Caesar was a powerful African chieftain who was tricked onto a slave ship, survived after a shipwreck and eventually became a feared pirate in the Florida Keys. Some stories place him around Elliott Ket, where he allegedly raided ships and built a reputation before later linking up with Blackbeard. Other versions say he sailed aboard Blackboard’s crew and was there when British forces finally took the infamous pirate down.

The complicated part is that Black Caesar’s legend is bigger than the confirmed historical record. Florida Keys historians have noted that the famous version of Black Caesar — the one who ruled the Florida reefs and became Blackbeard’s trusted lieutenant — is difficult to substantiate, and some researchers argue there is no solid documentation of that specific pirate operating in southeast Florida. What historians do have are records of Black men connected to pirate crews, including a man named Caesar, who was involved in Blackbeard’s final battle, as well as broader evidence that Black people were involved in piracy during that era.

That’s what makes this project interesting. Shaq and Archie Comics are not just reviving a pirate tale; they’re leaning into a piece of history that has always been messy, mythic and underexplored. Pirates have been romanticized for generations, but the popular image is usually white, European and filtered through movies that barely acknowledge how many Black people were caught up in that world — whether as escaped enslaved people, forced labor, crew members or fighters trying to carve out some version of freedom on the water. Britannica notes that Black pirates could sometimes vote, carry weapons and share in stolen goods aboard pirate ships, even though they often faced harsher punishment than white pirates if captured.

That gives Vengeance Unchained a lane to do something fun and meaningful at the same time. It can give readers sword fights, revenge, ships, betrayal and all the action you expect from a pirate saga, while also tapping into the bigger conversation about who gets remembered as a legend and who gets treated like a footnote. Black Caesar may live in that gray area between fact and folklore, but that’s also why he works so well for a comic book: the bones of the story are already cinematic, and the missing pieces give the creative team room to build something bold.

For Shaq, this also feels like another reminder that his post-NBA life has never been a one-lane path. He has been an athlete, analyst, businessman, entertainer and now a creative force helping bring a forgotten Black legend to a new audience. Whether readers come for Shaq’s name, the Archie Comics partnership, or the curiosity of learning about a Black pirate they were never taught about, Vengeance Unchained: The Legend of Black Caesar aims to turn history’s margins into the main event.

FX is officially heading back into the world of Snowfall, but this time the story moves from the crack-era streets of the 1980s to the rise of West Coast rap in the 1990s. The long-discussed spinoff now has a title: The Drop: A Snowfall Saga, and it is expected to premiere later in 2026 on FX and Hulu, with international availability through Disney+. That alone is enough to get fans locked back in, because Snowfall didn’t just end as another crime drama — it left behind a whole universe of pain, ambition, survival, and unanswered questions.

The new series will follow two familiar faces: Wanda and Leon, played again by Gail Bean and Isaiah John. That matters because, out of everybody who made it out of the original series with some kind of future, Wanda and Leon felt like two of the most emotionally earned survivors. Wanda’s journey through addiction, recovery, relapse, and redemption was one of the more grounded arcs in Snowfall, while Leon went from Franklin Saint’s loyal soldier to someone seeking a deeper purpose beyond the game. Their relationship became one of the few remaining sources of hope by the end.

According to the official logline, The Drop is set in ’90s Los Angeles and follows Wanda and Leon as they try to help push West Coast rap into the mainstream while gang wars erupt and record labels move in to exploit Hip-Hop culture for profit. That setup makes a lot of sense for the Snowfall universe. The original series showed how the crack epidemic reshaped South Central, destroyed families, created empires, and left scars that couldn’t just disappear once the money slowed down. Now, the spinoff looks like it will explore what came next — a city still carrying that trauma while a new cultural movement starts becoming big business.

The cast is also expanding beyond the returning Snowfall favorites. Alongside Bean and John, the series will star Asante Blackk, Peyton Alex Smith, and Simmie “Buddy” Sims III, with Mykelti Williamson, Nicki Micheaux, Brandon Mychal Smith, Isidora Goreshter, Eric Balfour, Richard Portnow, Zaire Adams, Demetrius Grosse, and returning Snowfall actor Quincy Chad involved. FX ordered the spinoff to series after it had been in development since 2023 and received a pilot order in 2025, so this isn’t just rumor mill talk anymore — it’s really happening!

Behind the scenes, Malcolm Spellman is helping lead the project as executive producer, with Snowfall producers Dave Andron, Thomas Schlamme, Julie DeJoie, Michael London, Trevor Engelson, and Paul Garnes also attached. For fans who wanted more from that world, The Drop: A Snowfall Saga sounds like it won’t just be a spinoff for the sake of nostalgia. The chemistry between Washington and Goldwyn was obvious, proving that even though it has been nearly a decade since the series finale of the Shonda Rhimes political drama, Scandal, the bond between the two actors remains. However, during their conversation, Washington brought up a shift she has noticed among the modern streaming audience.

“People are so passionate about Olitz, still,” Washington told Goldwyn. “Also, have you noticed this thing online where some people are like, ‘Now that I’m older and I watch the relationship, I’m not sure how healthy it is.’ Have you seen any of that?”

Goldwyn, who played the charismatic yet deeply flawed President Fitzgerald “Fitz” Grant opposite Washington’s legendary fixer Olivia Pope, couldn’t help but laugh at the delayed realization from fans. “They’re just figuring that out? Interesting!” he joked.

Washington pointed out, “They weren’t the healthiest couple. That doesn’t mean they weren’t madly in love, but they had some difficulties, which is why people loved it.”

For seven seasons, viewers watched Olivia and Fitz tear the White House apart, navigate assassinations, handle rigged elections, and dream of making jam in Vermont. Naturally, the biggest question on every fan’s mind is where the star-crossed lovers would stand today.

Washington and Goldwyn firmly agree that Olivia and Fitz successfully went the distance, but not without obstacles.

“I feel that what we had at the root of it was very real, and it’s why we could never get away from it — as opposed to being something that was ultimately dysfunctional,” Goldwyn explained. “I thought ultimately these two people were their answer to each other.”

Washington, however, added a realistic twist to their happily-ever-after, declaring that she believes Olivia and Fitz are currently in couples therapy.

“Yes, regularly!” Goldwyn enthusiastically agreed. “Because they know that’s what they have to do to survive. But I think Fitz spent some time in Vermont. He needed to get out of the toxic patterns… But I feel like he was very supportive of her trajectory—whether she became president of the United States or whatever her thing was, I feel like his real jones was to help this woman be, like… her best self.”

While their on-screen counterparts required extensive professional counseling to keep the romance alive, the real-life relationship between the actors has been completely effortless since day one. In the past, Goldwyn noted that they instantly “vibed as people and actors,” with Washington echoing that they became “instant friends” the moment they stepped onto the Scandal set.

That genuine camaraderie has kept them close over the years, frequently interacting on social media to the delight of the Scandal fanbase. In fact, earlier this year, Washington even dialed up Goldwyn during an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast to reminisce about filming their notoriously intense, intimate screen moments.
