Elizabeth Taylor's first wedding dress up for sale

LONDON — The gown Elizabeth Taylor wore at the first of her eight weddings is for sale. You'll need at least 30,000 pounds ($47,000) to buy it and a tiny waist to wear it.

Christie's auction house is offering the seed pearl-encrusted satin dress — compete with waist-cinching built-in corset — designed by costume designer Helen Rose.

Taylor was 18 when she wore the gown to marry hotel heir Conrad "Nicky" Hilton Jr. in May 1950 — an event, studio MGM boasted, attended by "more stars than there are in heaven."

Burberry showcases latest menswear in London

LONDON — Womenswear and accessories like handbags may be the mainstays of the luxury goods market, but right now menswear is where the growth is.

That appears to be true, at least, for British luxury brand Burberry, which showcased its latest menswear designs in London on Tuesday after a decade in Milan.

C. Wonder Pop-Up Coming to Hingham

Soon the adorable, preppy pieces from C. Wonder will be at the Derby Street Shops. The cheery brand also has a pop-up on Nantucket, and they're continuing the MA-love with a store at 98 Derby St. in Hingham. The store is scheduled to open in July and much like the Nantucket store, will carry a seasonal selection of summer goodies.

There’s something about a red-carpet premiere that makes even the whiffiest cinematic stinkeroo worth attending. In fact, just between us, sometimes I pose for the cameras, buy some Milk Duds and I’m outta there.

Many of you have asked, “Ivana, who are those non-stars talking into Bluetooth headsets on the red carpet?” Those brave souls in knockoff Prada are celebrity handlers, tasked with herding A-listers past the paparazzi and into the theater. Think of them as the corgis of Hollywood.

I've been engaged for three months, but it was only just over the weekend that I admitted to myself, my fiancee, and the jewelry store that my ring was just a little too big. I dropped it off Sunday to be sized down. My hand has never felt so empty!

I needed something to make my left ring finger feel whole again, so all week I've been sporting an old opal and gold ring of my mother's. It has two tiny diamonds, but it is a world away from my engagement ring in style:

Have you bought your summer chapeau yet morsels? I’m only nagging because I care — the sun is just nature’s IOU for wrinkles. Word to the wise: when hat hunting, think broad brims — enough to shade your entire body, with room for a few close friends.

I still mourn the loss of my favorite summer straw, a pink sombrero with a brim so hefty I used it to hold a few essentials: sunscreen, lip balm, sandals, magazines, a canoe.
