A big thank you to the Meiklejohn Elementary School students for their very generous donation. They held a hugely successful Penny Harvest and named Boulder Guide Dog Puppies as one of the grant recipients. They are very impressive young philanthropists!

Primrose is in Phase 8. Bonita and Viva are in Phase 3. Athena is officially a breeder. We have three dogs currently in formal training. Gustavo, Flyer, Destiny, and Danby recently joined the club. We currently have 17 puppies in the club.

Guide Dogs is now maintaining a list of websites for puppy clubs and facebook pages. Last I checked all of Colorado was missing, but I'm sure they'll get to us sooner or later.

Flyer (pictured above) and Gustavo joined the club on Wednesday, March 20, 2013.

Danby and Destiny joined the Boulder Guide Dog Puppy club on Tuesday, March 12, 2013.

The Boulder Guide Dog Puppy Club currently has 17 puppies in training and three dogs in formal training at the Boring, Oregon campus.

Primrose is in Phase 8.
Bonita is in Phase 2.
Viva is in Phase 2.

Club Update, 3-15-2013

Danby and Destiny joined the Boulder Guide Dog Puppy club on Tuesday, March 12. These are Flicker's children. Gizmo and Galaxy had their four month birthday and received two shots each as a prize. The Boulder Guide Dog Puppy Club currently has 15 puppies in training and three dogs in formal training at the Boring, Oregon campus.

Primrose is in Phase 8.
Bonita is in Phase 0.
Viva is in Phase 1.

We currently have 14 puppies and 4 dogs in formal training.

Athena, and Viva are tentatively slated for an early February recall. Bonita is in season, so she's scheduled to go back at the last possible minute before the February 9 due date. Hugo will go when he's a bit older.

Primrose is in Phase 7.

Two new puppies

Gizmo (being raised by Claudia) and Galaxy (being raised by Anna and Gwen) flew into Colorado on January 18, 2013. Galaxy and Gizmo are litter mates. They were born on November 21, 2012 to dog mom Inez and dog dad Baldwin.

Galaxy is a little girl and is being held by Anna in the picture below. Gizmo is a baby boy being held by Quinn (the boy in the picture).

Colorado Law re Service Dogs

This is a link to a Colorado government site that defines what a guide dog, hearing dog, assistance dog, and service dog is. The site explains that service dogs are pretty much allowed anywhere and employers and landlords can't deny access to service dogs. Most of the same rights apply to trainers, with the exception of housing and employers.

Phineas is still in the club. Keena and Dora were recalled and we wish them luck. Baby Cashmere joined the club. (Cashmere's picture is to the left.)

Delaney graduated and Edmond was career changed and returned to his puppy raiser, Harlan. Deidra is in Phase 5 and Nexus is in Phase 1.

We currently have 17 puppies in the club and have 4 in training.

Edmond was recalled as being evaluated for breeder status. Delaney is in Phase 7. Deidra was recalled and isn't showing up on the phase report yet.

Our club currently has 18 puppies, plus three in formal training.

Delaney is being recalled on Monday, April 9. Patrice is in Phase 8. Kia graduated on Saturday, March 24.

The next meeting is Tuesday, April 3 for all puppies at Flatiron Crossing Mall at 7pm. Meet at the base of the stairs leading up to the food court.

What's a meeting like?

Puppies (and their humans) are required to attend meetings. Puppies under four months old need to attend a meeting every week. Older puppies need to attend two meetings a month. The leaders try to arrange one field trip each month and at least one training meeting. Most meetings fall into one of two categories: field trips and training.
