Adopting A Kitten

2012-11-27T10:26:00.002-05:00

Since I lost Momo, Blossom who is still kitten looks so lonely. I do miss Momo, too.

So I was thinking about getting another kitten.

My husband did not like the idea in the beginning but later he agreed.

I decided to adopt one from local animal shelter. As the matter of the fact, I will be picking up our new kitten on Friday!

His name is Garfield.

I was told he was about 5 months old. I hope he likes me...

Meet Yuko

2012-11-19T21:32:00.005-05:00

I was born and raised in Northern part of Japan. I was raised in a very traditional Japanese family.

I wore my 1st wedding dress when I was 6. My marriage was arranged by Japanese tradition. Uh...just kidding. It was a school play.

I went off to college and lived away from my parent but somehow I ended up with a traditional Women's University in Tokyo. There were so many rules and regulations to follow.

And I decided to stay 2 more years to work there as a dorm manager to save money for my future. Let me tell you, it was painful to live with so many women. I could not wait to get out of my 2-year contract.

I used my out-going personality and not so good English skill to work for a German bank for several months, then I was hired as an administrative assistant for TMO at Yokota Air Base in Tokyo. In my 20s, I worked and played hard like there was no tomorrow.

I met my husband when I was 27 through my roommate. We got married 2 years later and move to his hometown in North Carolina.

My hometown, Rikuzentakata (Iwate Prefecture) was destroyed by Tsunami in March 11, 2011 but my parents and brother survived. My father is on the right in the picture below. Admit it, I do have a nice looking family.

I have two boys who once wanted to become next "Jona's Brother". Well, they are now 13 and 10 and realized that they need a backup plan for their future other than singing.

Good-bye to Momo

2012-11-12T21:34:00.000-05:00

We sent our cat, Momo to heaven today. He had been with us for 14 years. He had a kidney failure. I just could not afford the treatment and knew that it was time for me to let him go.

We moved to North Carolina in 1998, and I was pregnant at the time . One day I met this curious orange cat. He was actually my neighbor's cat. He came to my door step everytime I came to the door in the morning. I started feeding him outside for a few days, move the bowl closer and closer to our door. Then one day I invited him inside of our house and kept him ever since.

My neighbor had another cat and dog and did not seem to care. I named "Momo" which means "Peach" in Japanese. He kept me company when my husband had to work for night shift.

Momo was very healthy and did not give us any problem. He was very calm and friendly but did not like children much. He always came to our bed and slept between us at night.

I hope he had a happy life with us.

Last couple of days, I could tell he did not feel good. Since our doctor has already talked to us about putting him down. We decided today was the day.

Momo was excited in the car on the way to the vet. He was by the window and looking around.
Yes, it was a heart-breaking to let him go.

After a few min when he received the 1st shot, he was leaning to my husband arm. We laid him down on his blanket, but his eyes were opened. We told him how much we loved him. And when the doctor gave him the second shot, it only took a min or two until his heart stopped. He was gone.

Momo was a trooper.

He weight was 15 lbs last year. Today he only weigh 7 lbs.

We love you, Momo. We will see you in heaven.

Unreal But Real for Halloween

2012-10-31T20:16:00.000-04:00

Nicky Bronner who was 13 years old at the time who got into an argument over Halloween candy with his dad, Michael after finding out his dad had confiscated most of them. Why? Because candy was too unhealthy.
The move Nicky took next was unthinkable. Nicky was on a mission to make candy without artificial flavors and corn syrup.
Later, he teamed up with Adam who was inspired by Nicky's idea and a top chef in Spain to expand the project.

Later, Nicky's mission came true. UNREAL was born. This time, I was able to part of this movement.
I was asked to host an UNREAL Candy Party.
I decided to host the party on the popular candy night, Halloween.

My husband and I were ready to welcome the children in our neighborhood.

We had about 20 guests came by and tried Unreal candy. I asked each individual to vote for their favorite. And as I expected, "Peanut Butter Cups" won the 1st place. If you are chocolate lover, you might feel something missing. But consider this:

UNREAL:

No Artificials
No Hydrogenateds
No Corn Syrups
No Preservatives
No GMOs

That's what you felt it was missing which is plus to your body. But most of children did not even noticed the difference from the popular brands. And we made some parents happy tonight.

I have replaced my kids' snack options with UNREAL because they are better for them.

If you would like to purchase UNREAL candy, you can find them at CVS, BJ's Food 4 Less, Fred Meyer, Haggen, Krogger, Michael's, Ralph's Rite Aid, Staples, Target, Top Food & Drug and Walgreens.

2012-10-18T15:36:00.001-04:00

My Japanese blog has disappeared a few days ago. I was thinking it was just an error and would be coming back. But 3 days later, I realized my blog was completely gone!!!
Are you kidding me?
That was my main blog.
Off course, I did not keep up with the backup file. Go figure.
It looks like I have to start over from the beginning...Oh well.
I hope this service will not do that to me.

COVERGIRL & Olay Review

2012-09-13T08:15:00.001-04:00

I don't wear makeup if I don't have the right one. I am very particular about beauty products. I used to wear expensive brands like Channel, Yves Saint Laurent and Guerlain. That was when I was single and having a good time in Tokyo.

After 20 plus years and two kids, I did try so many ordinary cosmetics. The best makeup I had was probably mineral makeup. So when I was asked to review COVERGIRL & Olay makeup products, I was spectacle. In my mind, I thought it was not going to work for me.

I received the products a day before my Disney vacation. I just pack those in my bag and took with me. Going to Disney World in August could be miserable. It was end of August. It wasn't that crowed compared to the beginning of August, but it was still hot because you get afternoon thunderstorm everyday.

I decided to try on the makeup. First I applied COVERGIRL & Olay Tone Rehab Foundation. It wasn't thick but cover some of the dark spots I had on my face. Then I used COVERGIRL & Olay pressed Powder and felt so light that I could not feel like I was wearing mask like some of the makeup did to me. Then we headed to Disney for the day.

It was hot and sunny in the morning, got some thunderstorm due to the hurricane Issac but we survived. Amazing thing was my makeup was still smooth and did not get sticky.
I was so impressed!

Give yourself haircut

2012-08-20T09:01:00.001-04:00

It's time to get a haircut. My hair was reaching my elbow. And I would like to cut it around my cheek line.
I stopped by 2 beauty salons. They both pretty booked up. I am the type of person with no patience. So I went home and looked up some YouTube videos. How hard can it be?
This is my result.
It wasn't that bad.

hCG Weight Loss Protocol Day 10

2012-07-19T17:40:00.001-04:00

Well, well, well, through the struggle I managed to lose almost 10lbs in 10 days. How amazing.
Within the 10 days period, I was away from home for three days for my business trip.
Yes, I was starved to death. I called my doctor's office immediately and complained. They said they would be able to increase the dosage for hCG shot, but I had to wait till I returned to my home after three days.
I was miserable. I was so miserable and finally lost it.
Yes, this business trip was a nightmare. Every time I turned my head around, there were cookies, candies, chocolate bars, sodas, etc...
Plus, there was a Japanese steak house right by the hotel where I stayed.
Did I go there?
Yes.
Did I cheat?
Yes.

But I ended up losing almost 10lbs.

And I went to the doctor's office today, got a booster shot, and they did increase the dosage for my hCG shot. Hopefully, I won't feel hungry anymore.

I have 30 more days to go and 30lbs more to lose. Wish me luck!

hCG Weight Loss Protocol Day 1

2012-07-10T14:02:00.002-04:00

I signed up for hCG Weight Loss Protocol last week at my doctor's office. I picked up my shots for 10 days and started my vitamin shot yesterday.
And this morning I gave myself 1st hCG shot.
I am supposed to eat whatever I want today and tomorrow.

On the way to work, I stopped by Dunkin Donuts got large decaf with cream and sugar, 5 glazed munchikins, then stopped by MacDonald got an Egg Mac Muffin with a hash brown.
I made myself eat everything.

For lunch, I picked up my son and went to Golden Corral together. It is perfect place to find what I should be eating today and tomorrow.

I just got back to my office and am feeling little sick from food...
I should be walking for 20 min. this evening when I get home before dinner.

I am not sure what I should eat for dinner. I don't want to think about food at the moment.

My goal is to lose 40lbs by end of this program. Well, actually that's what my doctor set as my goal. And hopefully, I can show you the best result.

$100.00 GC from SavingStar

2012-06-25T13:42:00.001-04:00

I received an e-mail notification from Michelle at SavingStar. She said I was the winner for taking their survey.

Wow.

I've been entering the sweepstakes and started winning something. And when I read the posting from some other moms like me about their winning experience, it motivates me.
Because most of my friends think that it's a waste of time to even enter these sweepstakes. They think I am giving away my information to the company for their marketing purposes.

Well, that is part of it. But I believe they choose the winner and award the prizes to the winner.
And I believe I will win something big one day.

I've started getting serious about sweepstakes since last year. It's a lot of work to enter many sweepstakes even with Robo Form.

I also tried to attend many Twitter Party to win the prizes.

I have not won anything from any blog giveaway yet, but I know it's coming.

I alway love love the products from Quaker. So when I saw the commercial about Quaker Soft Baked Bar, I was already excited.

Date at Olive Garden

2012-06-03T13:29:00.000-04:00

We haven't had a date for a while. It's nice to go out on a lunch date with my hubby once in a while. Since we have nobody to keep our children, we have had a hard time to manage our date night.

Love Olive Garden. I want to try all the wine they have and I have not tried yet. Since my hubby is our designated driver, I can get a little drunk. Don't get me wrong. I do not drink every day. I am a happy drinker. I get happy.

2012 May Cravenox
