Sydney is currently in the NICU. She was being stubborn and not wanting to breathe when she first came out, so they took her there at first to watch her. I was a little confused until I saw him reach underneath a tree and pick up an empty beer bottle that someone had decided to throw out there rather than...(read more)

Comments are back open

Just another quick note, I did reopen comments so registration isn't necessary. I'm way overdue on my weekly posting. I really don't have a reason for missing two weeks ago, but last week, I definitely had an excuse. Saturday night, we had somewhere around nine inches of rain. I don't know that we've gotten that much rain in an entire month of June as long as we've been in the house. Around 5pm, water started rising. The sump pump wells were overflowing by six. We were basically doing everything that we could to keep the important...(read more)

Ignorance and Stupidity in an Election Year

Listening to the radio this morning, the DJ said that Barak Obama was in trouble. See, it seems that that something like 11% of the population thinks he's a Muslim, which is a bad thing for his election chances. Aren't we supposed to be a mostly open-minded nation? Don't we have something around here called freedom of religion? Isn't there supposed to be a separation of church and state, to prevent religion from running our government? Last time I checked, these are all the case....(read more)

Kung-Fu Panda

While I was driving home tonight, the radio station I was listening to was playing "Tribute" by Tenacious D. Being a huge Monty Python fan, I had some pretty high expectations. I would say that overall, those expectations were met. The show has great production values, with some fairly elaborate sets and video being used in some occasions as well. Obviously, we didn't get the original Broadway cast, which I would have loved to have seen (David Hyde Pierce, Tim Curry, Hank Azaria), but the travelling cast was...(read more)

My Electronic Arts Boycott is About to End

Well, it was great while it lasted. Okay, maybe that's not true, but I stood by it longer than most that took the same stance as I did. You see, back in 2004 or 2005, Madden NFL football was losing out to the NFL 2K series of football games in sales numbers, review scores, and game quality. So rather than spend some money to improve their product, they decided to go and throw huge amounts of money (I've heard at least nine-figures, if not hitting the ten-figure range) at the NFL for exclusivity...(read more)

Delayed Quick Hits

Very busy the last couple of weeks, but here's the things that have caught my attention over that time span: Courtesy at the grocery store: Saturday morning, Erin wanted pancakes, but we didn't have enough Bisquick. I chose the one with only one person in line beyond the person currently being checked out. There are just some places that I absolutely despise going to, and others that I never even want to attempt going to due to second and third hand reports - and here's the list: Miller Park (when the Cubs are in town): Cubs fans, in my opinion, are just about the most annoying, inconsiderate, and collectively stupid sports fans out there.
