This week, we talk with George Brown from Bradley University Theatre. They're hosting a weekend of three Shakespeare productions at the Hartmann Center Theatre. Bradley presents its own production of "The Tempest," followed by productions of "Measure for Measure" by Loyola Univserity" and "Henry VI" by Western Illinois University." Brown recounts how the three-campus collaboration came about, and what all the participating students draw from the experience. Next week, the three productions move to Western Illinois University.

This week, we're talking with George Stelluto, Music Director of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra. Their next concert is tomorrow night at the Peoria Civic Center Theatre. It features s collaboration with the Central Illinois Youth Symphony, and guest atist Jeffrey Holbrook, himself a CIYS alum. Stelluto talks about working with the younger players on this concert, about pieces by Brahms and Mahler on the program, and about some recent and upcoming performances in the "PSO Presents!" series.

This week, we're talking with Peoria musician and songwriter Barry Cloyd. He's release his latest CD, "Spirit Dance," with a release party and concert tonight at 7 at the Forest Park Nature center in Peoria. We listen to two of the tracks on the new CD. Barry shares some of the stories behind the songs, and talks about how his songrwriting porcess has changed over the years.

Review - "Titanic"

The sinking of the Titanic 100 years ago this spring inspired several film adaptations. The story of the ill-fated passenger liner is also the basis for a 1997 Broadway musical, which opened at Peoria Players Theatre last weekend. This week, we're talking with Dave Montague, from the cast of "Titanic." The musical opens next weekend at Peoria Players Theatre, with performances from February 3rd through the 12th. The show tells the stories of the crew and passengers aborad the ill-fated ship. Montague talks about what drew him to Players' production, about some of the music in the score, and about how much of the musical's plot is drawn from the true story of the Titanic.

Suzette Boulais and Nathan Irwin talk with Dr. John Jost, of Bradley's Department of Music. He;s leading a concert of Haitian orchestral and choral music, Sunday at 6pm at United Presbyterian Church in Peoria. Jost has been traveling to Haiti since the 1970s, and spends his summers teaching with a music camp there. He talks about some of the Haitian composers whose works are featured in Sunday's performance.

She talks about what drew her to the PSO, and to Peoria; about her long-term plans for the orchestra; and about working with Music Director Gerge Stelluto. Also this weekend: The Heritage Ensemble presents their annual MLK Day concert; and Corn Stock Theatre presents readings of four new, one-act plays by local playwrights.

David Commanday is with us this week, to talk about the Heartland Festival Orchestra's upcoming concert, "New Year's Greeting: Vienna to Broadway." The program mixes elements of Viennese operetta with musical theatre, from Gershwin to Phantom of the Opera. The concert also features performances from two Broadway veterans. Commanday says the underlying theme that unites all of the selections are unforgettable medlodies. The concert is Saturday night at 7:30 at Five Points Washington.

McKinsey talks about how the exhibit came together, about some of the challenges female artists faced during that period, and about some of the works on display.
