Denver Broncos Training Camp 2010 started today (Wednesday) as only rookies, certain veterans, and players coming off injuries were required to report today. The rest of the team checks in on Sunday.

Fellows Broncos QB, #25 overall draft pick Tim Tebow, is still in contract negotiations, so the snaps were split between Kyle Orton and Brady.

Once all hands are on deck, we’re sure all eyes will continue to be focused on Denver QB competition. While it may get old for us Brady fans (having to go through yet another training camp QB battle), I’m sure it’s old hat for Brady. He has a great attitude and strong work ethic so we’re sure he’ll do just fine!

As reported a couple of days ago, Brady Quinn and his best friend since 7th grade, Chinedum Ndukwe, visited children at the Memorial Children’s Hospital in South Bend, IN. They also made their appearance at the College Football Hall of Fame Gridiron Legends Luncheon.

About eight in every 10,000 high school football players make it to the NFL. Not only have Brady Quinn and Chinedum Ndukwe accomplished that, but they did it from the same high school, and forged a friendship in the process that is still going strong today.

During their time at Notre Dame, Quinn and Ndukwe were not just teammates, and not just roommates, but great friends.

Or, at least, friends.

“You know what kind of a friend he is? He’ll leave all his hair products in the bathroom when we were roommates,” Ndukwe said. “Just leave them all over, like the counter. Everywhere.”

“He’s got a lack of hair,” Quinn said. “So I don’t know what he’s going to do with any of that.”

Quinn and Ndukwe have been going back and forth like this since they were first teammates, in seventh grade. Last fall – 13 years later – they finally got to play against each other. Their recollections of that week 12 game are quite different.

Quinn had a rushing touchdown, but Ndukwe’s Bengals won the game. Either way, it was a great reunion.

SOUTH BEND — Former Notre Dame Football standouts Brady Quinn and Chinedum Ndukwe plan to visit Memorial Children’s Hospital Monday afternoon, according to a release from the hospital.

The two will visit Memorial’s pediatric and pediatric intensive care units, as well as patients in the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology program.

The two have a longstanding friendship that dates back to the seventh grade when they began playing football together for the first time. They went on to play together until 2007 when they were selected by different teams in the NFL draft.

Quinn is currently a quarterback for the Denver Broncos and Ndukwe is a safety for the Cincinnati Broncos.

Quinn and Ndukwe will arrive at the hospital at 1:30 p.m. Monday.

This is very representative of Brady and Chinedum’s work in giving back to the community; something instilled in their DNA, brought to the surface by their faith and university. Undoubtedly, the two are together for the College Football Hall of Fame’s Gridiron Legends Luncheon Series on June 21st.

The College Football Hall of Fame announced today that former Notre Dame standouts Brady Quinn and Chinedum Ndukwe will co-headline the next KeyBank Gridiron Legends Luncheon in the 2010 series on Monday, June 21, 2010. The event will provide football fans throughout the community a rare opportunity to hear both remarkable athletes reflect upon their collegiate experience as well as their transition into the National Football League.

Luncheons consist of a question and answer session with the featured speaker, a video presentation and lunch. Questions will also be taken from audience members. Tickets for individual luncheons are $35 per person or $270 for a table of eight. Tickets can be purchased at the Hall of Fame ticket counter or by calling 574-235-5717. Each luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m.

No–it won’t be to play football but to speak at the College Football Hall of Fame’s Gridiron Legends Luncheon Series.

The former high school and Irish teammates will take center stage on June 30th. Brady and Nedu were roommates while at Notre Dame and led the Irish to consecutive BCS appearances in 2005 and 2006.

After three seasons with the Cleveland Browns, Quinn is now with the Denver Broncos where he hopes to compete for the starting job along with Purdue grad Kyle Orton.

Ndukwe will enter his 4th season with the Bengals, where he’s the team’s starting safety.

NewsCenter 16 Sports Director Jeff Jeffers will serve as the host of the event.”

Brady’s friend (and former high school & college teammate), Bengals safety Chinedum Ndukwe, is hosting a Youth Wellness Camp for Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area youth, and Brady is in town to lend his support, as well as a helping hand.

Over 200 children from non-profit organizations in Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati will join Ndukwe and other members of the Cincinnati Bengals for a day of fitness and fun. The focus of the event is to educate children on healthy living by integrating physical activity, practical nutrition habits, and the importance of education.

It’s only a few. But that’s ok, because there will eventually be more. Beggars can’t be choosy!

Brady was 2nd to take snaps, behind Kyle Orton. Here’s what he had to say about today’s practice:

“I think it went pretty well. Obviously, we can always do better.”

It’s like that bad habit that you just can’t shake, no matter how hard you try. No matter where he goes, in the NFL, Brady Quinn can’t get away from trade rumors.

We probably thought the whispers and speculation would die down a little bit once he got to Denver. But I don’t really consider 6 weeks of silence a long enough break from the rumor mill, but that’s how long we’ve really been rumor-free around here.

That came to a crashing halt today with word out of Denver FOX affiliate that the Jacksonville Jaguars were interested in acquiring Brady via trade. “Here we go again”, I though.

But the Broncos pulled a Lee Corso and said, “not so fast, my friend!”, offering the following statement to FOX 31 reporter Josina Anderson:

“we have no interest in letting go of Quinn.”

Mike Lombardi is spilling the inside scoop on Brady’s impact, thus far, with the Broncos. In a recent National Football Post article he states the following:

Speaking of Broncos quarterbacks, everyone in the organization has been impressed with the work of former Brown Brady Quinn. Quinn has slowed down his movements and, according to the team’s coaches, has improved his accuracy. They’re excited to watch him work, and Denver will have a legitimate competition at quarterback this summer.

It’s safe to say all eyes will be on the Broncos QB stable this summer. We Brady fans are quite used to QB competitions, but hopefully this one has different results than those other ones…
