Aussie Floyd (http://www.aussiefloyd.com) are a band with a very long history with Brain Damage, having travelled to the UK especially for our first International Fan Convention held at Wembley in 1993. Since then, we know that loads of you have enjoyed their successive tours. We are pleased to
bring you the news that they are set to return to the UK in February 2013 with another brand new show. The series of 19 shows across the UK in February and March are expected to be their biggest yet, and come at a time when the reissue programme from Pink Floyd has reawakened interest in the band.

Tickets for their 2013 Eclipsed By The Moon European Tour go on sale at 10am on Friday (May 25th). The tour will celebrate the iconic The Dark Side Of The Moon but will also include many other classic tracks during the show. The tour, which includes a prestigious show at the O2 Arena in London, will feature a brand new format and set-list, but no other clues as to the presentation have been revealed.

Tickets for Roger Waters The Wall Live in Indianapolis

The Roger Waters 2012 Wall tour (http://www.brain-damage.co.uk/2012-wall-tour/index.php) has been thrilling audiences in each city it has stopped in so far, and it is clear the show is getting ever better as it carries on its travels. Word of mouth has ensured ticket sales have remained correspondingly high, and thus for a number of venues it has been hard for some to secure tickets.

In my many years with Brain Damage (since the mid-80s) one of the biggest things that has made it a pleasure to devote my spare time to, has been you - those who visit, read, participate and help. It's made a huge difference, and I've made many great friends over the years. The generosity of spirit at times has been overwhelming, and another example has just come along. Someone in the US (you know who you are) has very kindly donated a pair of tickets to see Roger in Indianapolis, on June 11th, 2012 specifically to help towards the running costs of Brain Damage.

The seats are situated in section 213, row 16, of the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, and we (the benefactor, and us) thought the best way to allocate the tickets to a BD visitor who wants these is to invite offers via email, between now and 2pm GMT Monday, May 28th, with the highest bidder getting the tickets (once payment via Paypal has cleared). Tickets will be sent certified mail and will require a signature for delivery. There's no minimum bid, so you might get your hands on these tickets for a very low price (although it would be useful to get some sensible offers - hosting fees and equipment costs all add up).

Please email Matt@Brain-Damage.co.uk (mailto:matt@brain-damage.co.uk?subject=Roger%20in%20Indianapolis) with your offer for the pair of tickets, and the highest bidder received by the closing date will be notified that afternoon to make final arrangements. Our thanks again to the person who has gifted these tickets!<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/brain-damage-news/~4/sdaquS-zELg" height="1" width="1"/>

Roger Waters adds Quebec concert to 2012 Wall tour

The Roger Waters tour of The Wall in 2012 (http://www.brain-damage.co.uk/2012-wall-tour/index.php) has - this afternoon - been extended by one additional show, which at time of writing, concludes the tour, one week after the Washington DC concert which was to wrap things up.

The concert, on July 21st, 2012, will take place at les Plaines d'Abraham in Quebec City (http://www.brain-damage.co.uk/2012-wall-tour/july-21st-les-plaines-dabraham-quebec-city-quebec-c.html). The Canadian venue is a historic area within The Battlefields Park that was originally grazing land, but became famous as the site of the Battle of the Plains of Abraham, which took place on 13 September 1759. The park is today used by 4 million visitors and tourists annually for sports, relaxation, outdoor concerts, and festivals. It is no stranger to concerts. Between 2008 to 2011, a series of concerts took place in the park, including performances by Van Halen, Sir Paul McCartney, Celine Dion, Rammstein, Sir Elton John and Metallica. Later this year, Madonna also appears in the park for a sell-out show.

The RogerWaters.com (http://www.rogerwaters.com/)
presales begin next week, with a limited number of advance tickets available to those who have registered their interest in this particular city. General sale tickets will go on sale shortly after through Ticketmaster.ca (http://www.ticketmaster.ca) and other normal agents (exact dates and outlets can be found via Roger's website). The public sale will also see a limited number of VIP packages made available for each show on the tour.

UPDATE: Roger has been talking about this show, and it will feature a wall that's a staggering 800 feet wide - the widest wall ever! It takes place on the anniversary of the 1990 concert, and Roger promises a show like no other. Here, he's talking about it:42624827<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/brain-damage-news/~4/savdwUPrsRE" height="1" width="1"/>

Our friends in the US have another treat in store - well, those who have access to Sirius XM Radio (http://www.siriusxm.com), that is. In the extensive Roger Waters interview last night with Jim Ladd, Roger revealed that The Pink Floyd Channel will launch on their subscription service. It will feature vintage concerts, special interviews and the entire Pink Floyd catalogue .

It is due to launch on May 25th, which is the start of the US Memorial Day weekend (May 28th is a public holiday). It goes live at midday ET on the 25th, and will run through to Monday, May 28th on channel 27. The channel will also be available Friday, June 29th through to Monday, July 9th on Sirius channel 142 and XM channel 43. Additionally, The Pink Floyd Channel will be available as a 24/7 channel online on channel 802 and through the SiriusXM Internet Radio App for smartphones and mobile devices beginning Friday, June 29th for an extended period.

The channel will not just feature Pink Floyd's music, but also solo albums by Pink Floyd members Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Richard Wright, Nick Mason and Syd Barrett, live concerts, rarities, demo versions of classic Pink Floyd songs and studio outtakes . Listeners will also hear an in-depth interview conducted by Jim Ladd with Roger Waters, as well as with David Gilmour and fellow Pink Floyd member Nick Mason.

The Pink Floyd Channel will be curated and hosted by SiriusXM host Jim Ladd, the legendary free-form DJ who has been conducting interviews with Pink Floyd since 1979. Ladd was also part of Roger Waters' album Radio KAOS and subsequent tour. Ladd hosts his own, eponymous weekday show on Deep Tracks, channel 27.

I can't think of a better home for the Pink Floyd catalogue, and all the solo stuff, than SiriusXM, said Roger Waters. How cool for all our fans and what a great way to introduce the work to new generations of listeners.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/brain-damage-news/~4/QYesNUQhqNE" height="1" width="1"/>

the Roger Waters official Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/rogerwaters) have long enjoyed the videos that have been posted there from time to time. We share these videos on the Brain Damage Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/BrainDamageUK) too, to help spread the word.

This evening, a new video has been posted which is an absorbing, five minute look at the surprise appearance of Nick Mason and David Gilmour at London's O2 Arena, a year ago virtually to the day. The video clip shares David's arrival, a pre-show meal, rehearsals during the day for the Comfortably Numb and Outside The Wall spots, and other aspects of their get-together.

To recap, The Story Of Wish You Were Here tells about
the making of this landmark release through new interviews with Roger Waters, David Gilmour and Nick Mason and archive interviews with the late Richard Wright. Also featured are sleeve designer Storm Thorgerson, guest vocalist Roy Harper, front cover burning man Ronnie Rondell and
others involved in the creation of the album. In addition, original recording engineer Brian Humphries revisits the master tapes at Abbey Road Studios to illustrate aspects of the songs construction. The additional bonus material on the DVD and blu-ray releases, and not aired in
the TV broadcast version, include further interviews with Roger Waters, David Gilmour and Nick Mason, plus Roger and David performing excerpts from the Wish You Were Here album.

To catch the broadcast, tune in to BBC Four TV (available via Freeview, digital cable and satellite) on Friday, May 25th, at 9pm.

It is with much thanks to Klaus Hiltscher that we share here some of his collection of great pictures of Pink Floyd at Frankfurt's Festhalle, at the start of their 1977 Animals tour. The pair of shows at the Festhalle were the third and fourth on a tour which stretched from January, right through to the infamous Montreal concert in July.

Below we have 34 pictures which give an indication of what the arena shows on that tour were like. Amongst the things shown in the pictures are shots of the Shine On mirrored flower , and the rather angry looking piggie...<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/brain-damage-news/~4/gfTCRcvPGR4" height="1" width="1"/>

New audio interview with David Gilmour, concerning DSOTM

In an exclusive interview for high50.com (http://www.high50.com/archives/culture/david-gilmour-in-conversation), David Gilmour gives high50 editor Tim Willis an insight into his approach to recording &ndash; particularly of Dark Side of The Moon. The interview, which consists of a set of three audio files totalling around 25 minutes, is a fascinating chat about the creation of the album. Recorded at David's Sussex farmhouse one morning in March, it really is worth a listen (http://www.high50.com/archives/culture/david-gilmour-in-conversation).

To do so, you will need to register for their website, although this is painless and requires very little information or commitment on your part.

As a reminder, Tim Willis is the author of Madcap: The Half Life of Syd Barrett, Pink Floyd's Lost Genius (http://www.brain-damage.co.uk/books/madcap-the-half-life-of-syd-barrett-pink-floyds-lost-genius-tim-w.html), which was published around 10 years ago.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/brain-damage-news/~4/Ti0eeaEPsZM" height="1" width="1"/>

Jokers Wild drummer Clive Welham passes away

We are very sad to report that Clive Welham passed away this afternoon. He had been ill for some time, and we understand his passing was peaceful.

In the 1960s Clive drummed for several Cambridge bands but is best known for his association with Albie Prior in the Ramblers [right], and David Gilmour in Jokers Wild, where David and Clive played alongside Tony Sainty on bass, and Dave Altham and Johnny Gordon on guitar. One of Clive's last public appearances was at the 2008 Roots of Cambridge Rock get-together.

Our sincere condolences to his family and friends.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/brain-damage-news/~4/qIGigZYexws" height="1" width="1"/>

A Raging Storm hits London's Oxo Tower

The Raging Storm - The Album Graphics of StormStudios (http://www.brain-damage.co.uk/books/the-raging-storm-storm-thorgerson-peter-curzon.html), the latest, absorbing book from legendary graphic designer, Storm Thorgerson, and his team. Associated with Pink Floyd since 1968, Storm, along with his colleagues Hipgnosis and more recently StormStudios, has provided most of the Floyd's album cover art along with other key imagery. Storm himself is a much respected personality within the world of Pink Floyd, his contribution a key part of their story.

The Raging Storm is a collection of many pieces that StormStudios have completed for various artists over the past four years - not just for bands such as Pink Floyd, but more recent artists too, all of whom have been inspired to use StormStudios thanks to their painstaking approach
to the work, creating often big and bold, unforgettable images, with a sense of humour or a cryptic note infusing each image.

The work is now to be celebrated in an exhibition that runs between July 12th-29th, 2012, at the gallery@oxo at the iconic Oxo Tower Wharf - a landmark along the River Thames for many years. The exhibition is free, and open 11am-6pm daily. To whet your whistle prior to arriving at the gallery (or indeed if you are unable to attend), check out our extensive, exclusive interview with Storm (http://www.brain-damage.co.uk/storm-thorgerson-interviews/storm-thorgerson-interview-november.html).

As a side note, the first week of the exhibition coincides with the photographic retrospective of the movie of Pink Floyd The Wall (http://www.brain-damage.co.uk/latest/pink-floyd-the-wall-retrospective-film-photos-exhibition.html), so if you are considering a trip to London, mid July would be an ideal time - seeing two exhibitions whilst you are there.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/brain-damage-news/~4/hIpE0uVff-c" height="1" width="1"/>

Sir Alan Parker live interview coming up

Back in October 2010 (http://www.brain-damage.co.uk/archive/sir-alan-parker-reveals-pain-of-pink-floyds-the-wall.html), Sir Alan Parker, the director of Pink Floyd's The Wall, the 1982 film starring Bob Geldof and based on the group's classic album, made a very rare special appearance [click thumbnail, right] at The Space event, held at the Komedia in Brighton, England. The Space is a monthly music, film and arts event, and they have managed to follow up this rare public appearance by Parker, with another, bigger and better event, to be held at the Duke Of York's cinema in Brighton on July 1st, 2012, at 4:30pm (http://www.picturehouses.co.uk/cinema/Duke_Of_Yorks/film/Alan_Parker_A_Commitment_To_Filmmaking/show/9t4a36/).

Sir Alan is one of Britain's most successful filmmakers, known worldwide for his extensive body of work, of which The Wall is just one aspect. In a career spanning forty years, he has worked
with some of the movie world's most respected actors, such as Robert De Niro, Jodie Foster, Anthony Hopkins, John Hurt, Nicolas Cage and Gene Hackman, on films such as Fame, The Commitments, Midnight Express, Bugsy Malone and Birdy. Music has been a key theme throughout much of his work, and he has collaborated with Pink Floyd on the aforementioned The Wall, legendary producer Giorgio Moroder (Midnight Express), Madonna and Andrew Lloyd Webber (Evita).

In the previous talk, his work with all these, and more, was covered in some detail with some pretty frank and honest revelations. As for The Wall, he said that was his most miserable professional experience but followed this up by affirming that I'm proud of it ! He talked of how painful it was to put it on screen but noted that he is good friends with David Gilmour and Nick Mason due to the film (not the case, though, with Roger Waters!). He also revealed that noted director Christopher Nolan played Pink Floyd The Wall to his team just prior to starting work on his movie, Inception.

The upcoming interview, which will include extracts from his most well-known films, will also afford the audience with the opportunity to ask him any questions they have about his career. Tickets for the event are now on sale, and are expected to sell quickly (http://www.picturehouses.co.uk/cinema/Duke_Of_Yorks/film/Alan_Parker_A_Commitment_To_Filmmaking/show/9t4a36/).<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/brain-damage-news/~4/kWkC34YU8ZI" height="1" width="1"/>

Pink Floyd The Wall Retrospective film photos exhibition

exhibition (http://www.indiegogo.com/pink-floyd-wall-30th?c=home#team) of stunning behind-the-scenes images taken during the production of 'The Wall'.

On display, there will be over 40 traditionally and painstakingly hand-printed black and white silver gelatin prints from the original negatives, by Silverbase of The Photographic Centre which is within the legendary Pinewood Studios - where some of the film was shot. Other images are due to be displayed too.

Brain Damage has had an exclusive preview of the pictures involved, and we know that those who are able to attend will be in for a treat. There are some wonderful, intimate moments, along with iconic moments from the production but from a unique perspective. Most have never been seen before, having been discovered lurking in a store room at Pinewood since they were originally shot.

The exhibition will be at Blackall Studios in Shoreditch, London (http://www.blackallstudios.com/), between July 13th-18th, shortly before the 2012 Olympics hit the capital. The private view of the exhibition will strive to raise plenty of cash for the charity Medicinema , and to get fans worldwide involved, Indigogo (http://www.indiegogo.com/pink-floyd-wall-30th?c=home#team) is doing a fund raiser to put on the exhibition. Every donation towards the exhibition will get various special (and exclusive) rewards, such as prints, posters, and the exhibition catalogue signed by David Appleby. Should the exhibition be a success, plans are to take it worldwide. Any galleries interested should get in contact with us and we'll pass on your details!

We'll keep you fully updated on this exhibition, and will be reporting from the opening evening. Watch this space...<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/brain-damage-news/~4/4WXG3VAGWt8" height="1" width="1"/>

Released by Eagle Vision HD, the title is coming out on both formats on June 25th in the UK, and June 26th in North America. Other areas should follow suit around those dates. Much anticipated, we've had a lot of emails from people in various places wondering when they'll be able to get their hands on it.

With a quoted runtime of 85 minutes, this programme tells the story of the making of this landmark release through new interviews with Roger Waters, David Gilmour and Nick Mason and archive interviews with the late Richard Wright. Also featured are sleeve designer Storm Thorgerson, guest vocalist Roy Harper, front cover burning man Ronnie Rondell and others involved in the creation of the album. In addition, original recording engineer Brian Humphries revisits the master tapes at Abbey Road Studios to illustrate aspects of the songs construction. The DVD and blu-ray releases contain additional bonus material not featured in the TV broadcast version, including further interviews with Roger Waters, David Gilmour and Nick Mason, plus Roger and David performing excerpts from the Wish You Were Here album.
