Brandon Green shared thisGrateful for our recent Inc 5000 award. Keeping up that pace is going to take renewed focus for 2027 and I’m already thinking about it asking myself the following questions: 👉 Is my team effectively configured to win in 2027? I expect themes of 2024-2026 to accelerate in 2027. Good and bad. Does my team have the right skills, mindset and overall alignment to perform well in this environment? 👉 Are marketing and sales operating as one tightly coordinated growth engine? Acquiring customers has never been easy but right now it’s particularly hard. That means marketing and sales both have to be on their A game, coordinated, responsive and relentlessly focused on what is actually creating demand and converting it. 👉 Are we sufficiently tech enabled to win? From CRM‘s to automated workflows to AI integrations, every company in 2027 needs to be highly tech-enabled. The customer is expecting a faster, smarter more seamless experience as table stakes. 👉 Is the customer truly at the center of our decisions? It’s very easy to get caught up in making things easier internally. But making things easier for us does not necessarily make things better for the customer. Ignore that distinction long enough and gradually, then suddenly, your customers will remind you that they have a vote. Are we listening? And more importantly, are we responding? 👉 Are we prepared for increasingly restricted capital environments? What do we need to change now in our cost structure, margins, cash reserves and capital strategy, to not just weather that environment, but take advantage of it? 2027 may still look a long way off on the calendar. From a business-planning perspective, it really isn’t. What questions are you asking yourself?

Brandon Green shared thisI've been thinking about what Pride Month means to me this year. To be honest, I don't think about being gay all the time. I just go about my life, doing my thing. But from time to time, I'm reminded, pleasantly and sometimes harshly, that I sit squarely in the estimated 3% of the population who are gay, and not in the 97%. Pride month is important for the 3% because it's an opportunity to celebrate the good and fun things that come from being gay and to acknowledge the journey as a community and also within ourselves. It's also an opportunity for people to say "I see you," which, in the end, isn't that what we all want? To be seen... It’s also good for business. Talented people are drawn to authenticity and what’s more authentic than seeing their leaders living their life openly, without fear or regret. So cheers to Pride month and to the wonderful and imperfect journey of being gay. 🏳️🌈

Brandon Green shared thisUncertain, At risk, Exposed = Vulnerability This morning I was listening to Brené Brown and it hit me, this is how I feel all the time. Almost nothing I am involved in is certain. I’m constantly at risk (of failure/disappointment), and I’m often very exposed. She went on to say that without vulnerability there is no courage. And that really landed with me. Courageous sums up the last 5 years or so. From pivoting professionally and opening a new company Alchemy. To the Willowood wedding venue project. To the fire and so many other things in between. Some days, though it’s exhausting and I long for certainty and predictability. But then I remember that’s simply not how I’m wired. So if you’re feeling uncertain, at risk or exposed, lean into it. Your courageous self is counting on it!

Brandon Green shared thisLast week at Alchemy of Money, we had a lot of people out at once. The kind of week where, not too long, we would have had a lot of issues. But we didn’t. Clients were taken care of. Problems got solved. The team adjusted. Things kept moving. Not perfectly — but well. It made me realize how true this is: You rise to the level of your systems. Not motivation. Not hustle. Not one heroic person holding it all together. That’s what we’re building at Alchemy. Not just growth — but resilience. A company that can keep serving people well, even when life happens. Proud of our team.

This morning I'm reflecting on one such occasion, an incredible trip Christian Salinas and I took a couple of weeks ago to Sedona with some friends. It was such a special moment to be present.

Until now, I’ve spent my entire career inside large organizations, hands on the controls of the business in which I was a part. I’ve always believed in the value of working closely with great agencies, consultants, and advisors. The best ones made the work and the results stronger. These last few months have me on the other side of the street leading Pinecone & Co., advising some great organizations. I’ve already learned a lot from having clients rather than being one. For example: - After working to help a client get ready with a new plan or for a big meeting, I now know what it feels like to wonder how it all went. Was it effective? Did the CEO get behind the work? - When an engagement ends, it tends to end abruptly. I think we all just kind of move on to the next thing, the next project, and for us - the next client. - It’s always been satisfying to impact a business; that hasn’t changed. The added benefit of a happy client that comes with business impact is such a great feeling. So what does this all mean? I love being an advisor who spent a career as a client. It’s rare, and it’s the perspective our clients notice right away. In a recent meeting a client raised a concern. When I responded by saying “I can’t blame you for feeling that way. I’ve felt the same way when I sat in your seat” and then followed with a solution, it really resonated. I want to do a better job staying in touch with past clients. When you do interesting work with good people for months, it’s just nice to know how things are going. And lastly, I’m embracing the role of helping others to grow and be successful. It’s rewarding to see the street from the other side.
