Poser status going strong

2016-01-22T13:30:00.000-07:00

Blogger is making all the photos on this post look dull - I don't know how to fix it :( Other than, if you click on each photo they appear as they should, much brighter as they should. Annoyed.

If you don't know now you know, ~~wigga~~ (caucasian edit).

If you didn't know I'm a huge poser and I don't give two fucks about it.

This DIY'd denim vest of mine has been a #WIP for a couple of years. I think I finally have it where I like it right now. The cool thing about denim vests is that you can keep adding and removing shit as long as you want. It used to look like this. I have since removed the patch on the back and added a bunch more shit.

Catwoman pin, MJ vintage pin, Scully pin, Buffy pin, Spooky Mouse Club pin, Cherry Bomb patch, Libra pin

Rose pin, Tiger patch, Dr. Frank N. Furter pin (my fav), Bowie pin, Friends pin, Vintage Hoarder pin

Homer donut patch, Garbage Pail Kids pin

Amigos Del Terror patch

Don't Touch Me patch

I Want To Believe patch

I think the MJ pin looks better on my faux leather vest.

Bye for now, going to add more pins on this baby!

7 Things - 2016

2016-01-15T12:43:00.001-07:00

1. I think continuing with this type of post is the only thing I can commit to for 2016. Let's be real.

2. It's been a sad week. Monday, when I heard that David Bowie had passed away, I spent the day really down. There was just no one like him. Then to here that Alan Rickman died too, sucked. He was my favorite villain in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. That used to be my all time favorite movie, until Lord of the Rings came along. I used to have a huge crush on Kevin Costner too. I don't get it either.

3. This Adele Carpool Karaoke video with James Corden is everything. Last night I was still in a funk and afterwards I was smiling. If you don't like these two then it won't help you.

4. Finding out that Snoop Dogg is on snapchat was also a plus.

6. I've been cleaning & organizing. I'm a new-year cliche.

7. I did update The Shop last week and will continue to do so in weeks to come.

2015 Bullet Points

2016-01-15T12:17:00.001-07:00

2015 was the year I fully committed to being a half-assed blogger
My creative juices skipped town and left me to deal with real life
Tyrone built us an awesome bed. It has since been shortened a bit
I made Game of Thrones cookies
We went to the PTV, SWS & PVRIS show at Saltair. Last year, I went from knowing nothing about PVRIS to falling in love with them. I will forever have a crush on those boys in PTV.
I made a pretty cool dragon shirt that I am still proud of
I started a Monthly Doodle challenge and never finished it
On weekdays we wear black
I never want to go back
On April 3rd, 2015 Tyrone graduated college! I am still so very proud of him.
On April 11th, 2015 my childhood best friend died. It was one of the roughest times. I had never lost a friend like that before and hit me in a very dark way.
Hate won't win. There were way too many shootings & murder/suicides last year.
Blue October therapy show
Saw Falling In Reverse for the first time in June
Went to a few other good shows. One of which was supposed to be Of Mice & Men but they had to cancel their SLC show the day of.
We swam in a crater for our anniversary.
My Game of Thrones obsession grew out of control
In July we brought home Mortisha and she has now taken control of our entire lives. She was 5 weeks & 5 lbs when we got her and now she's almost 7 months old and roughly 45 lbs.
Warped Tour 2015 :) !!!
In September I was laid off of my 8-year job. My last day was October 1st. I STILL HAVE NOT GOT A JOB! It's getting down to the wire though. Just the thought of going back to work makes me want to hide. I will have to make myself start looking next week for sure.
In October I got my DIY groove back.
I didn't decorate for Halloween this year. I think it may have been a bit of depression, but that is just not me at all. I'm a little mad at myself for letting that happen.
One of the best things that happened this October was we went to Disneyland for my birthday and to celebrate me losing my job.
In November, Tyrone had a nightmare of a surgery. It took over our lives for weeks.
We went out to eat a lot and saw a bunch of movies. Those are some of my favorite times.
All of last year I said I wanted to buy a new computer and in December I finally bit the bullet and got a new one. Yay!
We've seen Star Wars twice.
I've upped my #pingame
We upgraded our Christmas tree. It's taller and fuller and not going to fall down at any minute.
I actually took the Christmas decorations down before February this year.
Mortisha started puppy training class too. It's going pretty good. She gets a lot of attention naturally she loves going.
It actually snowed here this year so we went tubing. I tried to practice standing up on my snowboard but couldn't do it on my own. I'm so out of shape it's sad.
The day after tubing I got sick with a really bad cough and sore throat. That, so far, has been the last sickness since around the end of October. I've spent most of my unemployment sick with either a cold, the flu, and coughing. Tyrone says it's my body detoxing from working at that place as long as I had to. If you know me, you know I had some rough times there. It was time for me to go, as much of a surprise as it was to be laid off, but it was time. I'm just not ready to move on to another job yet.

DIY Nightmare Before Christmas Wreathe

2015-12-17T13:06:00.000-07:00

I made this NBC wreathe to go along with the Monster Wreathe I made for this holiday season.

My inspiration for the wreathe was our Christmas tree and the below pics I took on our trip to Disneyland this past October.

One day I'll try to make this clock for Halloween

I need this candelabrum in my life now!

I took the simple approach to this wreathe. I had this white wreathe already so I didn't need to go out and buy one or make one.

I added some some fake holly bits, a hand-painted striped bow and of course, a skellington head.

The bow was easy to paint, believe it or not. I couldn't find any ribbon that looked like the one from Disney so I bought some wide chalkboard ribbon and painted the stripes on myself.

Now, the skellington head was not so easy to make. I tried Model Magic because it is lightweight, but I could not get it to mold how I needed it too, so I scrapped that idea. I went back to the air-dry clay that I used for the teeth in the monster wreathe. I haven't touched clay since high school, so this was not so fun for me. For the life of me I could not get it very smooth. You can see the bumps in mine but at some point I just had to say "fuck it" and go with it. Once the clay was dry I painted it white and added black eyes and nostrils.

I had plans to make a garland with a skellington head as well, but didn't end up leaving myself enough time. Honestly, I didn't want to after I was done with this one. Maybe next year, if I can find an easier way to do it.

After re-reading this post it is kind of a bummer isn't it? I sound like a Debbie Downer.

DIY Disney Haunted Mansion Monster Wreathe

2015-12-14T12:21:00.001-07:00

Ever since we went to Disneyland in October for my birthday, I knew I was going to try to recreate some of the decor surrounding the Haunted Mansion. It is by far my favorite ride there for obvious reasons and during Halloween it's a pure joy. The little kid in my comes out and I embrace it when I'm there. I should post about our trip one day because it was definitely a good time.

(This photo also has supplies for other DIY projects)

Supplies Needed:

1. Green Garland - I picked the cheapest one I could find

2. Strong Floral Wire - because the clay adds some weight

3. Wire

4. Crayola Air-Dry Clay

5. Plyers

6. Paint

7. Red Bow - I bought a cheap one that was already made

First, I took the strong floral wire and created an oval shaped wreathe to the size I wanted. Secondly, I attached the green garland to the oval shape with some wire all the way around to create a stronger wreathe.

(This is the picture of the wreathe I took at Disneyland that I feel in love with)

Once the wreathe base is complete you can begin attaching the features, but first you may want to make the features.

I used air-dry clay to form the teeth and eyes. While the clay was still soft I put wire in each piece to make them easier to attach to the base once they were all dry. I made 12 teeth altogether; six for the top and six for the bottom. Once they clay was dry (it took around 48 hrs) I painted them white and used a matte modge podge as a clear coat.

For the eyes, I painted them both yellow with black pupils.

Using the clay; forming and painting each piece was the most time-consuming. Once all the pieces were ready it was a very simple wreathe to make. You could make the pieces out of anything your heart desires that would be easier, like cardboard, paper, felt, etc.

After attaching each facial feature I adhered the red bow and it was ready to be hung. I love seeing it in our hallway of our apartment complex as I approach our front door. It makes me very happy.

DIY Grillz & Fangz

2015-11-03T15:23:00.001-07:00

dopey-eyed wanna be legit

This is my version of DIY grillz and fangs for Halloween. I've always wanted a grill, just a cool subtle one, or even a gold tooth. It's the inner thug in me. The thug that doesn't exist at all but I secretly wish I was. I used Ellie Macs SFX tutorial on YouTube. I pretty much followed it exactly, especially when it came to the DIY fangs. The best thing to make note is that continuing to dip the polymorph plastic into the hot water is the key to keeping the smooth. The great thing about the plastic is that it re-melts when it gets soft again. For the gold grillz, I used the Splendid Gold Decor Art dazzling metallics paint. It was the best gold that I could find without paying too much. There are a few things I would change if I did it again, but overall I love them! If you haven't seen Ellie Mac's videos you gotta check them out. She is the queen.

these ones are my favorite

My OG plan was to use these cartoony fangs for my halloween costume, but since, confession, I didn't end up dressing up this year, they sat on my counter. I was going to be a dragon, well, a girl/dragon. A girl turning into a dragon? I didn't have a name for it but I had it all planned out. I have just felt like ass for the last 3 weeks so I didn't end up doing shit. It's heartbreaking.

the best thing about these is that they are custom fit to your own mouth

because I love these new matte lip stains from Sephora and they are JEM!!

Seriously, these are a really good formula and last a long time.

*please disregard the formatting on this post, it will not correct not matter what I do for now.

Happy Halloween

Hope everyone has a creeptastic time!

Halloween Bloody Mani

2015-10-25T19:44:00.001-06:00

I used OPI Samoan Sand as a base and then blotted the edges with the darkest of the colors firs,t which was OPI Lincoln Park After Dark, with a cotton swab. Then I blotted the next darkest red over that, which was OPI In a Holidaze. Then repeated that with the brightest red I have which is Super Black Cannibal. Finally I put a top coat on that bitch and called it good.

DIY Halloween Necklaces

2015-10-18T16:48:00.001-06:00

OK. These Halloween necklaces did not turn out as planned. Apparently, shrinky dink film hates me. It hates my touch, my presence and most of all my face. It took me a few tries to get to this stage. When that bullshit curls up it doesn't always lay flat back down while it's in the oven. I won't lie, this was not easy. We did not get along and I won't be inviting it over for a sleepover ever again. With all said said, here are some photos to make them appear as cute as possible.

This is supposed to be those plastic vampire teeth. This is the one I tried 3 times. I forgot to make small cutouts for the other teeth.

The bat is my favorite of the bunch.

These guys wanted to say hi.

Halloween DIY Painted Sculpture

2015-10-13T17:15:00.001-06:00

Adding the before pic so you can have a better idea of what I actually did since I've had a few questions. All I did was paint over an already cool statue.

After :)

DIY Skull Bath Fizzies

2015-10-02T09:20:00.001-06:00

Just in time for October, the best month of the year, here's a Halloween DIY. I'm also posting this in celebration of my first day of unemployment. Yay!

These skull bath fizzies are made just like the yellow bath fizzies I did awhile back. These have a faux cement look I love.

1 C baking soda

1/2 C citric acid

3/4 C cornstarch

1/4 C Epsom salts

1 T coconut oil, melted

Lavender essential oil 6 drops

Spearmint essential oil 4 drops

Red & blue food coloring

Water spray bottle

Rubber molds

I mixed together all of the dry ingredients in a glass bowl. In a separate bowl I mixed together the essential oils and coconut oil. I dropped about 10 drops of blue food coloring into the oil mixture and 6 of the red and did my best to mix it together. With this batch I wanted them to be purple but it just wouldn't work out. I would have had to put a shit ton of coloring in and I didn't want to do that. When I made the yellow cubes they came out a pretty nice yellow but this time the color just didn't want to show up. I rather love the cement look of them though.

After mixing the oil parts with the dry ingredients, I sprayed some water into the mix and worked it in with my hands until it started to come together. You don't want it to be too wet or the fizzy aspect will take over and they won't work. You want it to form together when you squeeze it in your hands but not too dry. If it's too dry spray some more water in it. The spray bottle helps distribute the water evenly and keeps you from adding too much.

Add it to your molds and be sure to pack it in well. (That's what she said)

Gently remove from molds and let dry overnight.

So, what's the point of the food coloring if it didn't show up? Well, when you put it in the bath water it will show up as a light purple. Fun! No? Shut up.

We went camping in July

2015-09-17T19:33:00.003-06:00

These are way over due. It was one of the nicest times I've ever had camping. I have two regrets; no photos of our CRAZY jeep crawl & no photos of my parents.

7 Things

2015-09-17T10:32:00.001-06:00

1. There is this station that recently changed from alternative to old-school hip hop & R&B here in Utah. It's the SHIT! What is crazy (at least to me) is that I've been working on an old school playlist like this in my iTunes so that I could have it on my phone. Tyrone and I have been reminiscing about this music for awhile now, so I wanted to make a list. We've been turning Blackstreet on and having our own car karoke fun. Between the two of us we have a ton of this music. I don't know how long it's been since the switch on this station but I am so glad I found it. Tyrone and I have been creaming our jeans over it. They're playing anything from the 80's, 90's and early 200's - A Tribe Called Quest, Blackstreet, Aliyah, TLC, Brian Mc-freaking-Knight, and Missy Eliot!

2. I got laid off last week. I'm not quite ready to talk about it on here. I have until October 1st.

3. On the plus side we are going on vacation in October and I can't freaking wait. We were going to take the dogs because I just couldn't bear leaving both of them with someone only because Mortisha is a handful. But, I have done some major begging and ass-kissing to get my mom to watch them and she said she would. Now it will be like a real vacation. Trying to get a hotel and thinking about how much time they would be spending in the car activated the pool of dormant ulcers I have chilling in my stomach.

4. Last night Mortisha started humping Fred. I had no idea girl dogs did this. What the hell for? Is it a dominance thing? She doesn't have a penis, WHY WOULD SHE WANT TO DO THAT? It's gross.

5. She also pooped this morning in the bedroom RIGHT AFTER we brought her in the house from doing the same damn thing outside.

6. Enjoying this.

7. I got an early birthday gift from Tyrone. He replaced my nameplate necklace that broke awhile back. It's an upgraded 100% gold and double thickness. This thing shines like my greasy forehead. I'm glad to finally have my G-status back up.

Mortisha

2015-09-02T14:40:00.000-06:00

I’m ashamed I haven’t written about the new addition to our family yet. It doesn’t make it any less important but somehow it makes me feel bad. I mean, I used to have an entire segment on Frederick. Remember when I blogged?

she immediately crawled up on my shoulders

Right off the bat she liked leaning on Fred

So, five weeks ago we decided to make the plunge and get another puppy. It was definitely a spur of the moment sort of deal. Earlier that week Tyrone sent me a photo of her from his friend’s FB page. She was the last of their litter and she was exactly what we always wanted. When we picked up Frederick we always said we wanted our next dog to be a female, faun, boxer. At that time we wanted to name her Elizabeth Smalls Franklin since Fred’s full name is Frederick Biggie Franklin. But, when I would look at her picture she just didn’t seem like an Elizabeth. The day we were able to pick her up Tyrone sent me a text that said, “How about Mortisha?” and from that moment I was in love. He knows me too well and the name just fits her perfectly. Fred is eight, so it’s been a long time since we’ve had a puppy and the three of us are pretty set in our ways. Fred has become such a good dog. He actually listens now days. I can’t say exactly why we finally decided to take the plunge other than the timing was just right and my horoscope told me I would be making some changes.

this pic is priceless - that look on Fred's face - "What did you bring into our house?!"

they have the same stripe on their faces

She loves to snuggle Fred but he's not that into it - this lasted 30 seconds

Now, we were under the assumption that she was eight weeks old when we picked her up but in fact she was only five weeks old. I was pretty disappointed because I knew it was going to be difficult. There is a reason why puppies should stay with their moms and their litters for at the very least eight weeks. They need their mom’s milk and they need litter time. They learn so much from their siblings during that time.

After 3 weeks she was almost too big for her bed

The first three weeks we had her were so hard. It really made me reconsider ever having a human baby. I mean that. I am not cut out for getting up in the middle of the night and not having any sleep. We were so lucky with Fred. He never got up in the middle of the night hardly ever and he didn’t bite us. We’ve really had to try and help her learn biting inhibition. They learn this from their litter. Naturally puppies are going to bite everything because that is how they learn about the world, but when they bite their siblings too hard the other pup will usually yipe loudly and the other pup will back off. There has been a lot of yipping going on in our house. I’m surprised our neighbors haven’t reported us or maybe they just think we are crazy. When Tyrone yipes it just kills me because he can’t do it high-pitched at all so it sounds so funny. Yipping when she bites us has totally worked though. She lets up and looks at us like, “Did I just hurt you?” It’s cute. Two seconds later she’s biting us again but it’s gotten softer and softer. I was so scared at first because she would bite me and I would tell her no and she would come at me growling. I was like, “What the hell did I just get myself into?” She doesn’t growl back at me anymore and she gives kisses when you let her know she’s hurt you.

she started off with a little paw print on her nose and now the spots have multiplied

because when she's sleeping it's the. best.

this is called "Success" because Fred finally shared the water with her

She was only five pounds when we got her and now I think she’s tripled that. She’s probably about five pound smaller than Fred and he’s about 20 pounds. She’s almost as tall as him now. I figure she’ll be about the same height as him by the end of the week. He is in for a rude awakening. They play really well now and so far he’s still stronger than her but when she’s is 60 pounds I don’t know what he’s going to think. Some days she sleeps a lot and some days she is super energetic. She woke up today ready to demolish everything and kick Fred’s ass.

Her Miley Cyrus impression

They wrestle WWE style - I called this one "Faced" or "Bitch, sit down."

on Saturday I was sick and they both snuggled me it was quite lovely

Happy Birthday!

Fall TV I'm Looking Forward to

2015-08-24T09:04:00.001-06:00

Here's a list of Fall TV I'm looking forward to. #whynot write about the things I love - I'm not one to pretend I don't watch TV. I go through phases where I won't watch much but overall my life is ruled by TV and I'm OK with that.

1. The Walking Dead

2. iZombie

3. Gotham

4. Grimm

5. Sleepy Hollow

6. Bob's Burgers

DIY End Tables - what's that you say?

2015-08-18T16:09:00.002-06:00

When we were living with my parents I helped my dad trim the big tree in their front yard. I want to say we did it for Mother’s Day because it was something my mom requested. I tried looking for the old post because I swear I wrote about the tables already. I wanted to see if I could find the before picture I took, but maybe I dreamt the entire post up. That would make sense considering my erratic blogging scheduling.

We got a little side-tracked and started making tables with the leftover logs. I say “we” but really I held on to things while my dad did all of the work. Since then they have been sitting in my parent’s basement “drying out” waiting for me to do something with them. I finally figured it out and came up with this.

I sanded them down but I didn’t want to completely remove the chainsaw marks. I took the bark off of two legs and left one au natural for both tables. Then I painted two legs, one white and one hot pink. Finally, I put a clear protective coat on top.

I wish I would have taken pics with my real camera and not just my cell phone but I wouldn't be a mediocre blogger if I had thought ahead.

7 Things

2015-08-18T11:42:00.000-06:00

1. Last week we spent two whole nights creating environmentally ethical dubsmash videos and sending them back and forth between me, Tyrone, my brother and his wife. It was one of the most fun times I’ve had. Tyrone got us started on it and began sending them to my brother on our group text. My brother in his ever charming way started sending us videos back, yet he had created his own version of dubsmash called “dillsmash” (his name is Dillen) by making his wife hold up the camera for him while he pushed play on the sounds from his iPad. I was dying. I could not stop laughing. Finally, he figured out it was much easier using the app and we were in for some sweet-ass lyp-syncing the rest of the night. It’s funny how addicting it is when you have people you can send them to. In related news, it wasn't until yesterday that I realized I was calling it dubmash not dubsmash.
2. Friday night we went to dinner and a movie, I guess some may call that “date night.” I NEVER call it that, probably because I don’t think of it like that when Tyrone and I go out. Maybe because we go out a lot. Anyways, we tried this new place called Zao Café and I fell immediately in major-heart-eyes with it. It’s simple Asian food and they have Vietnamese iced coffee that has taken over my life. We liked it so much we went back the next day for lunch. It was weeks overdue but the movie we saw was Antman and I fell in love with that too but mostly because I’m already in love with Paul Rudd. On our way to dinner I was checking FB and got one of the “memory” reminders and exactly six years ago I was watching I Love You Man and gushing over it online. PAUL RUDD IS IN THAT MOVIE. In 2009 I was, apparently, a very active FB user. It was much more fun back then. Now it’s becoming like tumblr but for your mom.

(I hope this video works here; first time trying it out)

3. We made our own version of Pina Coladas Saturday night that consisted of Trader Joes Pineapple juice (the best shit ever), coconut water, ice (obviously), coconut crème, blended and topped with homemade whipped cream. WAIT! I forgot about the rum. It was quite refreshing after a long day of shopping.
4. Sunday we went for a ride down Provo Canyon Trail. I wore a hat and glasses and still got sunburned on my forehead. I have no idea how that happened. I blame the smokey air we’re having due to the west coast wild fires. My allergies are not happy about any of it. Our air here is so bad you would think we were having our own crazy wild fires but surprisingly we have had a low fire season…and that news tidbit was brought to you by Utah’s newest anchorwoman, Brandy Franklin. Never heard of her.
5. Our life pretty much still revolves around our puppies and potty breaks even though I went out with my friend Jamie last night. I talked her ear off in the restaurant parking lot while she wiggled around trying not to piss herself.
6. I am on one today. I can’t tell if it’s because I’m getting sick or what.
7. I’m so ready for Halloween!!! “This is Halloween, This is Halloween, Halloween, Halloween, Halloween, Halloween!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Warped Tour 2015

2015-08-17T12:04:00.000-06:00

I think all musical festivals should be held in the Spring or Fall.

I’ll do my best to restrain myself from complaining about the heat too much here. I haven’t been to Warped Tour in about 14 – 15 years. I remember going in 2000/2001 to see MXPX and I can’t even remember who else was there. I can usually remember shows very well but this show didn’t stick with me. I do have the world’s worst memory so that could be it too. I quickly remembered why I hate going to festivals at the fairgrounds; there is no shade and the “grass” is really just dirt. The main stage is always on the big asphalt area (no matter what festival it is) which SUCKS because standing on black in 96 degree heat makes you more miserable.

OK, did I start that off on a positive note or what?

With that old-lady bicker out of the way I will say that I had a blast. I was able to see “most” of the bands I wanted to and I didn’t pass out from exhaustion.

Did I mention that on our way to the show Tyrone asked me if I picked up the tickets (I didn’t)? I thought he was kidding because he’s always giving me shit like that. When we got to the Central Pointe station which is about a little less than halfway from our place and the fairgrounds, we had to get back on the south train to pick up the tickets Tyrone left on the counter. I was so pissed because this meant we were going to be late and I couldn’t see that anyone had posted the lineup yet so I didn’t know when anyone was playing yet. We weren’t too late though. We got there in enough time to walk around, find the lineup and check out the booths. I found Adam Elmakias tent right away. I really wanted to stop by because he has my dream job but I didn’t want to look like a tool in line with the scene tweens. We listened to Silverstein walking through the booths. They played on the Monster Energy stage which was in the middle of the grounds.

How’s our positivity levels checking out?

yes, I bought the Warped Tour water bottle BEFOREHAND because I'm a nerd like that

Beartooth view from the back

The first band we wanted to see was Beartooth. I, personally, love these guys. We waited around through I killed the Prom Queen so we could be near the front. It started off really great. The crowd wasn’t too pushy and everyone was moshing around respectively which is my favorite kind of moshing because, well, I’M OLD. I have to say there were more adults at this event than I expected and they weren’t just hanging out the reverse babysitting tent. Three songs in and Caleb invited all of the back stragglers to crowd in closer to the ones (us) having fun in the front and it caused chaos. The moshing because unbearable and everyone was literally on top of each other struggling to breathe through the dust that was being kicked up from the “grass.” Tyrone had a wall between me and one of the pits that was going on but it became so unbearable that he grabbed me and made us get out. He was getting way too hot trying to ward them off and the dust because mud in our lungs. Once we finally got to the back of the crowd he looked at me and said, “You have something on your teeth,” and I wiped a finger across my front chicklets to find a layer of mud nesting over them. It was so nasty. The one good thing about Warped Tour is that you can fill up a water bottle for free and as many times as you need. We needed it more than at least 20 times. After their set was done we headed for the one area that had shade to blow the dirt out of our noses. About this time we were finally hungry so we stood in line at one of two food stands that were open and listened to We Came As Romans while we waited.

At this point my memory of what we did next is hazy once we ate. We people-watched for a while and tried not to laugh too hard at what we saw. We did walk around again because I remember hearing a few other bands. But you know me, I’m not going to ~~sit~~ stand through every fucking band. I was there for 3 – 4 bands and that was it really.

Towards the tale-end of Memphis May Fire we made our way to the Unicorn Stage to get up-close and personal with Lynn from PVRIS. Since I missed these guys in January I wanted to make sure I saw them. I’ve been listening to their album since I first heard of them from ~~Alternative Press~~ Miss Erin Kelly’s Blog which is my main source for music news. They were SO MUCH FUN!! I ignored the blaring asphalt and jumped and sang like an idiot. It was great!

Tyrone was drooling over Mike's drumset

The cherry on top was that PTV played right after PVRIS. They were the best. Of course I think that because I’m in love with all of them. I still have their signed poster hanging on my bedroom ceiling that was put there while Tyrone was in Idaho a lot for work. It’s still there. Tyrone has only made one or two comments about taking it down but he hasn’t. It’s still up, Bish! Yes, I just typed the word “Bish” because I just recently learned what it meant and wanted to be cool by using it. Now that I’ve explained that it’s probably not cool and I’ve veered away from talking about PTV so I’m doing really well here, aren’t I? Anyway, they were really good and I would love to say that I made it through their whole set without getting heat exhaustion but I can’t. During the second to the last song I just freaked out because I couldn’t breathe and plowed my way through all of the sweaty little hobbits. I don’t feel that way often but I honestly thought I was going to die if I didn’t get out of there. At one point, there was just no breathing room and no one was budging anymore. There were a ton of little girls pushing through to get up front, as they do, but then the crowd just decided that they had had enough and wouldn’t even stay flexible for those that needed to even move their arms or fucking take a drink of water. I love that you get to bring in backpacks but in a tight crowd they become annoying as fuck to deal with.

We left after PTV. I wanted to stay and see a few other bands but I just couldn’t and I felt satisfied at that point with what I saw so we headed out to catch the train.

In short, I’m old and should stay home. But I did have fun, I promise.

Yada yada

7 Things

2015-08-05T13:43:00.001-06:00

1. Puppy poo is my life now. I was sitting at my desk yesterday at work and pulled out a handful of green poo bags that I had stuffed in my pocket. I should mention they were not full. After Fecal Festival 2015 I'm not sure what I was thinking getting another puppy. It has been rough. I was under the impression she was 8 weeks, but she was only 5 weeks when we picked her up (tiny miscommunication) so we're having to make up for lost litter time and mommy time. She is so feisty and shits and pees wherever the hell she feels like it. I have to thank my SIL for telling us about Natures Miracle carpet cleaner though, it really is a fucking miracle; great for removing the piss stank.

2. The Book of Mormon musical. It has finally come home to Utah and I can't go - WHAAA! WHAAA! I've listened to the soundtrack when it first came out and fell in love. It's brilliant and I don't mean that because they make fun of LDS beliefs that most people have never heard of, but because it's so well done. In Utah, some people won't talk about it. In fact, it hasn't been on the news much here because getting someone to talk publicly about it would be career suicide. People here don't like it yet they love it. I read some article that said it wasn't doing well here but in fact it is sold-out. This review describes how the crowd reacted after the opening song. I think people here actually love it. Tickets range from $85 to $160. Last time I checked there were only a couple of crappy $85 seats left. I want to actually be able to see it. I can't pay $85 for a shitty seat; I'm too cheap for that. I'm not a Mormon and wasn't raised as such, but that isn't why I want to see this. I am a christian though, and I hear that is makes more fun of religion as a whole and that is really why I want to see it. (If that doens't make sense to you that's OK) I'm all about making fun of religion. Plus, the show has an underlying positive message and is much deeper than some expect. It's just one of those things I think I need to see before I die. I used to say that about Les Miserables but I missed out on that too. I have been listening to this playlist of the songs on YouTube to keep me from crying. ("Turn it Off" is the best!)

3. I just discovered The Black Tapes podcast. It's a docu-drama that is setup like Serial, except that it is fictional. I love listening to the stories while I work. I had Tyrone listening to it at home and he got so bugged when I told him it wasn't real. They do a good job with it even if some of the paranormal stories are a bit ridiculous.

4. We recently finished True Detective S1. It was really good, as expected.

5. I have piles of inventory that I need to shoot and post to my shop. I think I might need to take vacation time to get that done. I haven't been wanting to spend a lot of nights and weekends on my shop as I have in the past. I still have interest in it, but my interest in living my life in it's current state is winning out and I'm OK with that.

6. Gwen & Gavin splitting up upsets me. I audibly screamed, "NOOOO!!!" when I heard the news. I don't care what that says about me. They were one of those couples from my young adulthood that I remember and loved that they were together. They were the perfect post 90's couple at the time.

7. I wonder how much poo I'll have to pick up tonight?

1. I still need to unpack all of our camping shit.

2. Tonight Say Anything is playing and I want to go but I'm not going because I'm going to play the tired card.

3. A couple of weekends ago I was supposed to get 15K steps for the GCC2015 challenge I signed up for at work; I got 16K. I got to work on Monday to find out the Bionic Woman got 19K. She kicked my ass. I think her bionic leg gives her special powers. We walk together every morning in the parking garage and she is very motivational to me. She NEVER complains about being an amputee and NEVER uses it to get special treatment. We have people in our office who use whatever "medical condition" they ~~don't~~ have to get special treatment but she doesn't do it and she is one of two people who would have any real right to do so.

4. I can't believe July is almost over. School supply ads have begun. I love buying ~~school~~ office supplies. When I was a kid it was the best part of starting school until the day actually arrived and I wanted to stay home.

5. My current most used emojis. I know this is probably lame to post but it always cracks me up. Tyrone and I can have entire conversations using only emojis.

6. Last night Art Bell returned to late night radio and I could not have been more happy. Unfortunately, I fell asleep much too early while listening to it.

7. Yesterday was a great mail day. I went crazy about a week ago and bought some stuff. These 3 were among my favorites. I am going to put them on my cubicle shelf.
