I've been playing League of Legends lately, and it's a really fun game. I've got a LOT to learn, but I have a bunch of good friends who have been taking the time to teach me!

I plan on finding a way to incorporate the games into our youtube channel in the future. We've had a few videos, but I think there is room for something a bit more substantial than what we have already been doing.

Stepped on the scale today, and saw those numbers. Some people might be very scared seeing that on the scale. I did a little mental dance. Yes... I've got a LONG way ahead of me. say.. at least another 100 lbs or so. But... In January, I was at 350. So... 50 lbs lighter was a HUGE goal for me. And that was all diet. I haven't started exercising yet. That's my next challenge.

And all throughout this process, I also quit smoking. So after over 20 years of smoking. I'm done. No desires to smoke ever again, thanks to Allen Carr's "The Easy Way to STOP Smoking", which I highly recommend.

So, here's to another 100 lbs... which I assume will take me longer than 6 months, but we'll see. Wish me luck!

Goings on...

There's a ton of stuff going on right now. Working at Curse has me super busy every day and then after work, trying to get back into filming when I have time for the dead workers. Then of course on the weekends, there is the Shaft.

In between all of that, I am also using Instagra.am as a creative outlet, and I've been enjoying it quite a bit. I've always had fun editing images, but that has always been in photoshop, and I haven't really had the chance or reason to play around in PS lately. My wife introduced me to a ton of cool apps on the iPhone, and after seeing the incredible images she creates using nothing but an iPhone, it sparked me into trying my hand at it as well. (Take a look at her photos, she is "Gooniegirl" on IG) Incredible stuff. Truly. She has changed the way I view the world with her spark and passion for photography.

I've also been trying out quite a few new games and betas. Playing League of Legends some with friends at work, and trying the betas for the World of Warcraft expansion, as well as the Diablo III expansion. And then finding time to play and record let's plays for DWP in Minecraft.

It's a very busy time for me, and I'm finding that it's really taking too much of my personal life. I'm trying to spend less time gaming, and more time with the family and kids. Games come and go. In 10 years, there will be completely new games, and I'll have just as much fun playing those. Every day that goes by is one less I don't get to spend with my kids and family. How important that is, really didn't strike me until recently.

My son and I play some of the same games, but I won't him to understand what took me over 30 years to figure out as well. Games are fun, but they aren't a substitute for life. They should be played in conjunction with it, and not instead of it. Keep a mental flow chart going, and if there is an option to spend moments with a friend or family, take that fork. Don't get me wrong.. i've made tons of friends in games as well, and there are tons of benefits for gaming. I am in no way saying don't play games! I love games, and I will continue to game, and I think it's a great form of entertainment. There are tons of benefits for gaming. Seriously. I think my son is in Space class and doing great in school partly because of games. Same with my daughter. They are both SOOOO smart, and in part I blame games... The other part is a great pair of genes to start with ;)

Not really sure what I'm saying! Think I'll go play tennis with my kids instead of figure it out right now... See you all in a bit.

It's me, Brent. Are you listening?

It's been a long time since I have posted on this site, and I'm going to try and get it more active, but I usually say that every few years and it lasts a few weeks or sometimes a month or two, and then, usually, due to lack of attention, I abandon it for something else easier, and more fulfilling to my fragile ego.

So, anyways.. Let's see what happens this time. If you'd like to ask a question of me, please do...

I'm starting to think that maybe I should just find a template that doesn't provide me the opportunity to actually post anything. Maybe a picture of my toe or something.... Well, whatever...

A new chapter

First I'd like to thank everyone for the happy birthday wishes yesterday on twitter and facebook and email. It was a great day. I actually turned in my 2 weeks notice at work as part of the birthday celebration. I'll miss all the folks I worked with out there, and hopefully will get to see them for reunion lunches and such, but that leads me to the title of this post.. the new chapter.

I have been invited, and accepted a position with Curse! I'm incredibly thrilled and humbled by the offer. The guys at Curse are a great group of folks, and I can't wait to be part of the team. They do some cutting edge stuff on the web, and I can't wait to contribute to their code, and learn from them as well.

I will still be working with the DWP on the weekends and evenings as time allows. We are actually now partnered with Curse to deliver our videos to the public, so that is more exciting news.

I hope everyone had a tremendous holiday season.. Christmas, Hanukkah or whatever you celebrate this time of year.. I hope it was tremendous. Also, we bring in a new year with new hopes and dreams and I hope this year is the best year of your life so far.

I'm going to be shooting more personal vlogs to try to get this page a bit more active and what not and let you know what's going on personally in my life. This whole weekend, you need to follow what is going on over at http://www.minethon.com. They will be playing Minecraft all weekend long and hosting contests and auctions to hopefully raise 10,000 for child's play. We're going to be streaming on Saturday, 2 hours before the show in support of it, and then the show. I will also be doing some streaming on Sunday at some point. I forget what Time I told the guys.. but I think around 10 or 8 or 9.. or something. We'll see!

TF2 News & Control Point

So you might have missed Control Point this weekend. I know we did. After some technical issues setting us back over an hour, we didn't have time to record the show, and with the Holidays, it looks like we may be taking a few weeks break to get ready for the new year.

Also, we are talking about taking TF2 to a seasonal show (and when I say we, I mean me.. I haven't really approached the other guys yet!), like you normally see tv shows do. The segments we get are fairly sporadic, some folks send them in every week, some are sent in once a month, and some are sent in once and never again! :) So we're trying to find a way to have the best show possible, and get all the goodies in each show. Maybe 2 shows? a news show and then a community segments show? Hmm... Still thinking about this.

Just in case we do, I wanted to share with you some special TF2 news! Here's the news release!

Team Fortress 2 Ships Holiday UpdateNew class packs, hats, items and maps

Ahhh... the smell of wood burning in the air... ice cold nipples... and an urge to drink hot cocoa... no.. it's not Grandma's Birthday... It's DECEMBER! One of my favorite months of the year. I love the weather. I love the Cheer. I love making my kids happy by decorating and the smiles they have while ripping through the wrapping paper on the gifts that Santa has left behind.

We are working on a bunch of projects for Christmas and New Years at the DWP factory. Probably too many, and we're weeding through them for the best, so we can concentrate and make a few great things instead of 4 billion so so things. Keep an eye on twitter (@brentcopeland) and of course listen to the show (The Shaft) and watch our videos (DWP on Youtube) and of course there is our (Tumblr) site you can view.

There has been a lot of hate towards Minecraft Chick lately, and it's hard to stomach. I've known Lydia for some time now. Mostly online, but I've worked with her during a music video shoot, during E3, and now Minecon.

She is the utmost professional, and brings excitement to every minute working with her. She is very intelligent and has incredible ideas. There is a reason Mojang hired her, and they were absolutely correct in doing so, because she IS incredible. And if you don't see it, then you are just going to be a lonely person. I've seen people say that it's their right not to like someone for whatever reason, and that's absolutely true. But if you don't like Minecraft Chick, then you just don't know her. And it's still your right not to, but have you ever heard the phrase, "if you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all?"

Seriously.. has she beaten your puppy or something? She did an amazing Job at Minecon. Were there some issues? Of course there were. There are at ALL cons. I have yet been to a con and thought it went over a 100%. Especially some group's FIRST con! Seriously. This was their very FIRST convention, and I will never forget the incredible weekend I had. If that is the outcome, then I can't wait for the next one.

I feel truly blessed to be able to call Lydia a friend, and I had a hard time watching the comments on the We Built This Town video about her, and we made a call as a group to not give in to the trolls, but seeing this bs after Minecon is just too much.

Lydia. You are an amazing person, and we all stand behind you. Don't listen to the trolls, cause that's all they are doing is Trollolllolllin'

Just got done looking at the convention floor being set up and the panel rooms and I've got to say this con is going to rock! Mojang has done an incredible job and I can't wait to see it in full swing.

Bit burner is finally here as well. Eric and Wes are with him now getting his bags from the car. I'm up here at the room writing this and taking a shower. Then we head back down for some more fun.

Above tn on the way to Nashville seeing tons of tweets from folks that are already there or on the way. Can't wait to get there and see everyone. Eric and Wes are on different parts of the plane and I feel bad for the two folks that are sitting next to me. Nothing like a flight to get you wanting to loose some weight.

Anyways. We'll be in Vegas in around four hours god willing and we'll be looking for a taxi to Mandalay. Maybe they will have some sort of shuttle. See you soon!

Hard to do anything at all right now... the anticipation of Minecon is killing me, and I can't wait to go. And I know people are probably getting absolutely sick of hearing me talk about Minecon. CHILD’S PLAY LAUNCHES 2011 DONATION DRIVE

SEATTLE – Nov. 2, 2011 – Child ’s Play Charity has officially begun its 2011 fundraising campaign, having already received more than $450,000. This year’s goal is to raise $2 million.

Since the charity’s establishment in 2003, it has distributed more than $9 million in donations from the videogame community to entertain hospitalized children across the globe.

The annual Child’s Play charity auction will take place on Thursday, Dec. 8th, 2011 at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue. Tickets can be purchased at www.childsplaycharity.org. Passes will cost $145 per person and $5,000 for table sponsors.

A night of gaming...

Thanks Roboevan for Fable III! got it installed and played a bit last night. So far, the story has been good, the graphics and gameplay have been good as well. And the dog looks like my dog, Odie. Which is cool. i'd really like to play some of the coop if anyone out there wants to try that at all, just holler and lets get it hooked up. Also, right now is the Hallow's End event in WoW, so I've been doing that as well. Trying to get me the headless horseman's mount. 3 years of this, and still no mount. It's time!!! It's truly time! Then top that off with some TF2 fun on the 4L server and some Minecraft on my personal server, and it was a gaming extravaganza for me last night. Ok.. i'm hungry now. It's lunchtime. Then time to order some "The Shaft" stickers. Hope they turn out as good as they look, and hope we get t hem in time for minecon!
