Fruit Bat

We spent the first 2 weeks of December 2007 on the Island of Meerufenfushi in the Maldives. The island is home to a few Fruit Bats who during the day you can see visiting the various palm trees to collect fruit from them. On one such day I was able to record one of them collecting their food. I apologise in advance for the shake in the footage, this was due to having to use the full zoom of the camera and also not having the image stabiliser on the device enabled.

Reunion Concert 2007

For the second year running various bands local and national got together on October 26th 2007 to raise money for the John Eastwood Hospice. In total the concert, hosted at the Miners Welfare in Rainworth, Nottinghamshire, UK, raised £2766 for the Hospice. I was asked to record the concert and take pictures.

Kremlin

Video from the Moscow Kremlin (кремль) taken during my visit. Footage taken on a Sony P8 Digital still camera. Video includes the exteriors and grounds. No photography was allowed inside the Kremlin buildings which was real shame as some of the treasures kept by the Russian Tzars and presented in the Kemlin museum. The video was taken on a Saturday afternoon in February 2007.

Red Square

Recorded using my Sony DSC-P8 Digital Still Camera this footage was taken whilst wandering around Red Square in Moscow. For some reason I expected it to be larger than it actually was. That said it was still very impressive. The video was taken on a Saturday afternoon in February 2007.

Monaco Taxi

Recorded using my Sony DSC-P8 Digital Still Camera to quickly get some last minute footage of the Helicopter flight leaving Monaco and heading off to Nice Airport in France. The Flight only took about 15 minutes across the sea and I managed to film the approach towards Nice Airport and Landing. I just wish I'd remembered my Sony took video earlier, that way I could have got the take off from Monaco too.

Eiffel

The fourth part in a series of videos taken during a weekend break to Paris in August 2000. This video concentrates on the Eiffel Tower and views shot whilst at the top. The views of Paris where taken from the lower viewing platform and then from the very top of the tower. The featured track, 'Deceptive Visions' is by Korhan Kaya.

Paris By Day

More footage from our trip to France in August 2000. This time the video shows Paris on a hot summer day as we wonder along the River Seine. Famous landmarks along the way include the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre.

Stop Motion Test

I've always wanted to have a go at doing some stop motion animation filming and now I have. This short video is my very first experimentation using some lego figures as the main characters. Part one was shot using my iSight with quite poor lighting. Part two however was shot using a Sony Digital 8 Camera plus extra lighting. As you will see I do really need to practice and probably tweak the walks etc, but I'm getting there.

Paris @ Night

On a warm dry night in August 2000, during our visit to Paris we took an evening walk about the surroundings of our hotel including the Louvre grounds and one of the many foot bridges over the Seine. From the bridge we were able to see an illuminated Eiffel Tower in the distance and the brightly lit boats traveling up and down the River Seine

Skaters

On a very wet afternoon in August 2000, during our visit to Paris we took shelter from the rain under a large bridge which crossed the Seine. Whilst waiting for the rain to stop we were treated to a rollerblade show. The skaters were basically trying to weave in and out of a number of coloured beakers used as obstacles. As one skater attacked the beakers one of the others rollerbladed along side recording the run on their video camera. I recorded both. This video will be the first taken from this long weekend break.

Conures meet the Camera

Whilst filming some of the bird residents at Paradise Park Wildlife Sanctuary in Hayle, Cornwall I came across some Golden Conures with great personalities. They were particularly interested in my video camera, especially when I turned the LCD viewfinder on them so they were able to watch themselves.

Christmas @ St Ives

Christmas @ St Ives is a Video Blog recorded whilst spending our Christmas Day and Boxing Day for 2005 at Tregenna Castle at the top of the hill in St Ives, Cornwall. This video last 9 minutes 44 seconds and is a huge 43Mb in size so you may have to wait when downloading depending on how fast your internet connection is.

Apologies in advance for the 'unstable' footage but unfortunately it was almost all shot using my left hand due to still not having full use of my right arm. The video takes you through the 5 hour drive (approx. 340 miles) from home to Tregenna Castle and then shots taken in the hotel and St Ives on Christmas day.

El Djem

Recorded in October 2000 this short video takes a look at the El Djem Colosseum in Tunisia. Built in the 3rd Century by the Roman Emperor Gordie I, El Djem is the 3rd largest ampitheatre in the world. Unfortuately the ampitheatre was never completed because of political rivalries and the lack of money. Never the less what still stands today is an impressive reminder of the powerful and engineering Romans and their empire.

Camel Convoy

The footage for this movie was taken from over an hours worth taken whilst on holiday in Tunisia during October 2000. This short follows a Camel Convoy which we travelled with on route to see the desert dwellers (troglodytes) on the edge of the Sahara in a place called Matmata. This is the same place where George Lucas filmed Luke's Aunt and Uncle's home in the original Star Wars movie and Anakin's home in the Phantom Menance film.
