My name is Brian Edwards and I am an educator, advocate, and consultant. I currently serve as the Assistant Director of Equity and Diversity and the Coordinator for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer Center at Montclair State University. I am also an adjunct professor in the Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies department teaching courses in the LGBTQ Studies minor.

I have over 13 years of experience in education, and I specialize in higher education and student affairs.  As a consultant or trainer, I have worked with the following institutions: Ocean County College, Kearny High School, The Educator’s Training Institute, The College of New Jersey, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Montclair State University, the Fashion Institution of Technology, the Family Services League, CASA of Passaic County, and more. I am the LGBTQ trainer for the Educator’s Training Institute.

I am a member of the Association of College Unions International, the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, and the Consortium of Higher Education LGBT Resource Professionals. For the Consortium, I have served as a regional representative for the mid-Atlantic region and am currently on a committee charged with  developing national standards of practice for LGBTQ Center professionals in higher education.
