Migrate WordPress Blog from Flippa

So, did you just buy a WordPress blog on Flippa and now need to get it up and going on your own Webhost? Most likely they gave you the files and the SQL backup for the WordPress database. I’m going to show you what you do with those to get your site up and running.

This is assuming you have already transferred the DNS/domain over. If not, you can always edit your hosts file on your computer to do the steps below before the DNS has even changed over.

Step 1

Upload your WordPress files to either the root or subdomain of your webhost, depending on your URL configuration.

Step 2

Create a new mysql database by going into Cpanel and clicking on “MySQL Databases”. Choose a database name, username, and password. They can be whatever you want, just make sure you write it down as you will need this later.

Step 3

Now that you have your mysql database, you need to take the backup (sql file) that you have from your Flippa purchase, and we are going to upload the contents of the wp db into your new one that you just created. To do this, you will need to go into phpMyAdmin. The link is right next to the previous one in Step 2.

Step 4

Click on the “Databases” tab at the top, and then click on the name of the database you made in Step 2. Now click on the “Import” tab at the top. Browse your computer for the sql file you have from Flippa and then hit Go. That should have now uploaded all the tables from the blog/site you just purchased into your db that you created in Step 2.

Step 5

Now we need to tell your WordPress files about the credentials for your db you made in Step 2 so that it can connect. In the root of your web directory, there should be a wp-config.php file. Go ahead and open/edit that and update your mysql database username and password. And that is it! Your blog should now be back to the state it was on its previous webhost.

Reset .zip file associations in Windows Vista

Discovered that I could no longer unzip in Windows Vista using the built in windows unzipping capability. It was most likely due to other software configurations breaking it. If you need to reset the .zip file associations, here is how to do it.

Step #1

Open up command prompt.

Step #2

Type the following:

assoc .zip=CompressedFolder

Hit enter and your good to go!

Firefox keeps crashing in Windows 8

Have you just installed or upgraded to Windows 8 and Mozilla Firefox keeps crashing? That’s what happened to me. I had the latest version of Firefox, 14.0.1, the newest version of Flash, Shockwave, etc.

The fix?

~~I upgraded to Mozilla Firefox 15 Beta 5~~ (Still had issues).
**Update 08.21.12 – Upgraded to http://nightly.mozilla.org/ so far so good.

Firebug, Xmarks, Lastpass, etc. all still work fine. If you are having trouble with Firefox crashing, try grabbing the newest Beta. I have a feeling they have been testing a little now in Windows 8.

KMPlayer 3.3.0.33 Audio Sync Issues on AVI Files

I updated my KMPlayer recently to version 3.3.0.33 and noticed the audio would immediately go out of sync when playing .AVI files. Follow the instructions below to fix.

Step #1

Launch KMPlayer and go to preferences. F2 or Right Click > Options > Preferences.

Step #2

Then select “Source Filter.”

Step #3

Then change Normal AVI: and Damaged AVI: to say System Default.

Hit close and you should be good to go!

I know this hasn’t worked for everyone. If it doesn’t work, I would simply recommend going back to a more stable version until they get the kinks worked out. Version 3.1.0.0 is very stable and doesn’t have any syncing issues with the audio. You can download the older versions here.

How to Avoid Reserved or Hidden Partition in Windows 8

There is a hidden partition created by default in Windows 8. This can be very frustrating, especially for IT administrators who are working with capturing and deploying images with Sysprep and ImageX. The boot files needed for Windows 8 to boot correctly are stored on this 2nd hidden partition. This will show you how to install Windows 8 on one partition.

Step #1

First, there is no way to simply delete this hidden 100MB partition in Windows 8; you simply have to reformat. So the first step is to backup your data and boot to the Windows 8 Install CD. (To boot to CD, restart your computer and normally it will be either DEL, F12, or ESC key to select CD-ROM drive, and boot to it)

Step #2

Once you are up to the Windows 8 screen, you will need to select “Repair Your Computer” option.

Step #3

Next you will need to select “Command Prompt”.

Step #4

In Command Prompt we are going to reformat your hard drive in a certain way so the 2nd partition doesn’t automatically get created when you install Windows 8. Here are the commands:

Diskpart
List Disk (You might have more than one hard drive)
Select Disk 0 (By default your main boot drive will be disk 0, check it)
Clean
Create Partition Primary
Select Partition 1
Active
Format FS=NTFS Quick
Exit

Step #5

Then simply walk through installing Windows 8 as you would normally. This time the setup will not create the 100MB hidden reserved partition.

JustBeenPaid (JBP) Guide for Dummies

So if you are reading this, I am assuming you found my blog and are curious about this program called Just Been Paid. It actually isn’t a new program, it has already been going for about two years. I am going to try and keep this as short and simple as possible. I’m not going to explain everything in detail, I will just tell you the basics of what you need to do to earn money. If you have questions please feel free to email me.

The Just Been Paid site (http://justbeenpaid.com) is a very confusing. The JSS tripler program is where you will make your money.

There are things call positions. Basically you earn 150% on every position, which is purchased at $10 a piece. So $10 turns into $15. The money accrues over 81 days and then expires. Once it expires, 4x positions turn into a matrix and you then earn $60 per 4x positions.
So some quick math here. Lets say you invest $80 (you want to buy in multiples of 4). That will get you 8 positions. After 81 days that will give you $120.00. Then you will get $60 x every 4 positions, which equals another $120.00. So for $80 you invested, you will earn $240.00.
I currently have a friend that is earning $250 a day.

How do I setup payment processors in JBP account?

The first thing you will want to do is add your payment processors to your account profile. So login to JBP and click on PROFILE on the top left.

Then about half way down the page there is a link to manage your payment processors.

How do I deposit money?

On the homepage, go to JSS.

Then click on the Financial button.

Scroll down a little bit and click on the button that says “Fund Main JSS Account.”

Then you will need to transfer that to your JSS Tripler account. There is a button just to the left of the above one, that says “Fund JSS-Tripler Account.”

Now you can buy positions with your money. See question below.

How do I buy positions?

On the homepage, click on JSS.

Then click on Positions.

Scroll down a little bit and click on the button that says “Buy a new position.”

How do I withdraw my money?

Go to the homepage of JBP and click on JSS Matrixes.

Then click on the financial button.

Scroll down and then click on the button that says “Request withdrawal of Funds.”
