There are some standard methods: email your list, put up posters, buy ads, get JV or strategic alliance partners and email their lists. Now there is a cool new way to promote your ebents and other people’s evnts as well.

Eventbrite.com is a full-service affiliate program for events. You schedule the event, set the ticket price and commission and invite people to promote for you. Instead of having a few JV or strategic partners, you can have your whole list attend and promote for you.

It really is that simple.

How many of you are passionate about something? (Come on now, you’re passionate about something.) How many of you would like to turn those passions into income? (That’s what I thought.)

Of course you’d like to make money doing something you love. What better way is there to enjoy your work and give it all you’ve got than pursuing a passion? I rode racehorses for 20 years at racetracks around the country. I grew up loving horses and going fast. I couldn’t imagine a more fulfilling way to make money than being paid to do something I would have gladly paid to do.

Want to learn how you can discover your passions and pursue them for profit? Join me on December 3, 2008 for a 1-hour teleseminar. You’ll learn the key to discovering your passions, how to turn them into a career or business, and the secret to financing your dream. To sign-up click here: Pursue Your Passions for Profit ™.

Dr. Phil made that question popular on his TV shrink show. I say you should ask yourself that question about your career or business. How’s that workin’ for you?

If you are like 80% of the workforce the answer may be, “Not so well.” Business failure rates (50% in the first year) suggest the same for you self-employed business owners.

My last “job” was 11 years in the Federal government. From my first day I saw people chain-smoking, chugging coffee and eating junk food on breaks, complaining about being there and threatening to leave. (That was my first clue.)

Over the years I developed blood pressure so high the blood bank wouldn’t let me donate, cancer twice and mild depression. All that over a job that was unsatisfying with no place to advance. I decided I had to follow my passions before the place killed me.

I went back to school and completed a BA in Organizational Leadership. I got training as a life coach and career coach. I did 100′s of hours of volunteer and pro bono work, still hanging on to the J.O.B. Then a retiring co-worker challenged me to take my own advice and go do what I loved.

So I did. My BP is now normal, my cancer is in remission and the only reason I take any meds is … they’re cheap and legal.

What are you going to do? How long are you going to stay stuck in the muck? Don’t want to give up the security and benefits? OK. Do a lateral. Do a side business. Volunteer.

But first -

Sign up for “Turn Your Passions Into Profits” my 3-hour workshop. You’ll learn how to identify your passions, talents, and strengths – your immediate gratification activities (IGA). You’ll learn how to make money doing your IGA’s in a job, your own business or writing and teaching others.

We’ll get you going and help you on the journey.

OK. I am new to Twitter but already I am following Michel Fortin, Jason Alba, Mari Smith, and Henry Griner some big names in the online community.

I met Jason Alba (JibberJobber) at the recent Career Directors International conference in Seattle. He is a very funny guy in addition to being very smart about what is happening in the online world of social networking.

Michel Fortin is a copywriting and marketing guru. It is fun to follow his new tweets on his blog and website. He always has something interesting to add to the conversation.

Mari Smith is the “Pied Piper of Facebook” and an all around online entrepreneur. She takes Twitter to a whole new level.

Henry Griner is another marketing guru. His blog was thge model for this site and the reason I used Ben Cope’s DreamTheme. (Glad I did!)

Even better than me following them – they are starting to follow me! That is some heavy company. Looking forward to what I learn from them to pass along to you.

I have had a secret fantasy since I was 10 years old. (No not that fantasy.) I wanted to be on the radio. I used to listen to Thomas Q Dunn on KOB in Albuquerque, NM and Bill Mack on WBAP in Ft. Worth/Dallas on my radio in Tucson, AZ late at night and early in the morning when I could pick up the signals. They were two of the 50000 watt station broadcasting back then (mid 60′s).

Now the magic of the Internet gives each of us the ability to host our own radio show. My show is “Passion2Profit”. We’ll take a look at business and career opportunities that let you make money using your passions, talents, and strengths. We will broadcast live every Wednesday evening at 8:00 PM Pacific time (11:00 PM EST). Of course the rebroadcast will be available too.

Join us for our first show this Wednesday November 12, 2008. Our first guest will be …
