<h3><b>1- Mobile Wallet is a KEY Native App</b></h3>

This is reflected in the recent shift by major players such as Google, Facebook and Twitter toward a mobile centric strategy.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The job of any marketer is to capitalize on growth in new markets and increase profitability for their clients.  Mobile marketing presents a vast and unique opportunity for the local marketer. It provides a space to define services and provide greater value to local businesses.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">brick&amp;mobile has partners all over the world that are capitalizing on this opportunity everyday. They are very excited to get started on their mobile journey and ask many questions in order to define their best course of action.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><b>What do you think is the most common question I get asked?</b></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">As a Sales Manager at brick&amp;mobile, the #1 most common question I get asked is <b>“How much can I charge”? </b> While I understand why people ask this question, I often think that the more appropriate question would be, “What am I willing to do for this customer in order to ensure the success of my service?”. <i>The more you do, the more you may charge. </i></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">What are some of the things that you’re doing for your clients that make both yourself and your customer stand out?</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">As a marketer, the most important thing to remember is success is directly proportional to the needs of your client. In order to succeed, you have to achieve!  In order to achieve, you have to set objectives. In order to set objectives, you have to understand the needs of your clients. Once you understand the needs of your clients, you are able to design and create effective campaigns that increase brand awareness and differentiate the companies you represent. By accomplishing this in a unique and distinguishing manner for your clients, it sets you apart from others in the marketing profession.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The best way to provide exceptional service to the client is to understand their wants and needs. There are 3 significant ways to accomplish this major goal:</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><b>1) Do a Needs Assessment.</b></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Determine your client’s needs by comparing what they have and what they are missing, both internally as a business and against their main competition. Often, clients are missing a complete mobile strategy, other times their strategy requires a specific tweaking or refinement of their current course. Achieve optimal results by improving the offerings with regards to content, design and engagement.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Continue to build from there with the mindset of going above and beyond currently implemented marketing techniques, of both your client and competition, by applying new forward thinking strategies. The better you are at determining the needs of the client and fulfilling those needs, the more you may charge. Stand out as an exceptional, and different trend setting mobile marketer. By determining your client’s current situation, you may begin to formulate the objectives for your client. Remember: Time + Effort + Creativity = Value.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><b>2)  Create Achievable and Measurable objectives</b></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Whether the objective is increasing the customer base, expanding the reputation of your clients or helping them to achieve more loyal customers, it’s important to approach your objectives in the following ways.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Create a baseline to measure your progress and set goals to improve the standards moving forward. Understand the gap that you’re bridging and work toward creating higher standards of quality that strive to improve on what has been previously done for your clients. Once you have a working baseline, you can always refer back to how far you have come and identify your client’s remaining needs.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Goal achievement must become the new standard.  Setting a course to achieve your goal, implementing innovative ideas and utilizing appropriate strategy will guide you towards achievement.  By constantly improving your client’s mobile presence, strategy and reputation, you are in fact achieving this simultaneously.  The higher standard you set for your goals and objectives, the more you may charge your clients.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><b>3) Create a Standard of Excellence</b></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Going above and beyond what you have set out to achieve, constantly pushing your baseline forward and implementing new and creative ideas to keep your clients current, dynamic and unique, will result in the creation of a standard of excellence.  If you are able to deliver this, over time, you will ultimately become the “Gold Standard” in your industry and your market. You will no longer be compared to what others are doing but others will be compared to you.  When you become the “Gold Standard”,  you can then begin to pick your price.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Next time you want to know what to charge for your services, you will benefit by thinking about what you are offering and how you are willing to provide it. It is always important to remember that aiming to increase brand awareness and being different are two of the greatest ways you can serve your clients as a local marketer.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Deliver a service that determines the needs of your clients, sets measurable and achievable objectives, and creates a standard of excellence in order to enable you to differentiate your company and your services in the market.  Always think in terms of your clients and their customers, and set yourself apart from your competitors.</p>

<p>Everybody loves a great deal, but as the times change, technology is trending away from the paper flyers and mail out coupons. These new technologies are creating smarter, savvier consumers, who use their mobile devices while shopping, to find retailers, comparison shop, look for sales and search for online reviews. Consumers want instant gratification from their mobile devices, and if a local business can give them that through a digital loyalty system, they will instantly increase customer engagement and drive traffic through the front door. Look no further, the digital loyalty system is here; welcome to the &#8216;Mobile Marketing Ecosystem&#8217;.</p>
<p>Last week I embraced beacons and told you <a href="https://www.brickandmobile.com/beacons-and-why-i-love-them/" target="_blank">why I love them</a>, because of what they could do for busy consumers; engage them while at the business by sending notifications alerting them of special offers directly to their phones. Beacons are an essential tool for proximity marketing and work hand-in-hand with the next element in the Mobile Marketing Ecosystem,&#8217;<a href="https://www.brickandmobile.com/localpass/">LocalPass</a>&#8216;.</p>
<h2><strong>What is LocalPass?</strong></h2>
<p><img class="alignleft wp-image-16763" title=" padding-right: 20px" src="https://www.brickandmobile.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/android-wallet.png" alt="android-wallet" width="182" height="392" /><a href="https://www.brickandmobile.com/localpass/">LocalPass</a> is part of a Mobile Marketing Ecosystem that includes digital coupons, membership cards, value cards; they can also be event and airline tickets. The digital coupons are efficiently stored in a customer’s phone, in an app referred to as a ‘Mobile Wallet’. The easiest way to get a digital coupon installed into a customer’s phone is with a scan-able QR code or NFC tag that can be conveniently located at a cash register on printed sign board, that says something like “Scan (or Tap) here and get 25% off your next purchase!”</p>
<p>For iPhone users, the mobile wallet app is called ‘Passbook’, it’s a native app, already installed, and no download is required. If the customer carries an Android phone and doesn&#8217;t have a mobile wallet yet, once the digital coupon is scanned they will be directed to the Google store and prompted to install the app, it’s called ‘Pass Wallet’ or ‘Passes’. They will then have the option to install the digital coupon to their mobile wallet.</p>
<p>Once the digital coupon is downloaded to the customer’s mobile wallet, they are able to get loyalty rewards points and savings from the businesses that they choose to engage. The best part is that once a customer has the digital coupon in their mobile wallet, they are kept updated of all new promotions, special offers and events from that business.</p>
<h2><strong>How Does The LocalPass System Work?</strong></h2>
<p><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-16764" src="https://www.brickandmobile.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/localpass-taco-sample-300x238.png" alt="localpass-taco-sample" width="300" height="238" />LocalPass is digital content meant to be stored in a mobile wallet, that includes the benefits of targeting, proximity marketing and geo-fencing capability, which refers to a virtual perimeter for real-world geographic areas. As the customer enters the area, locked screen notifications are sent directly to their phones to invite them into the business, and when the screen is unlocked the digital flyer appears. The customer will be enticed to enter and enjoy the promotion, and can redeem their coupon by simply scanning the barcode directly from the smartphone at checkout.</p>
<p>The LocalPass system allows for up to 10 geo-fencing areas, which permits for a business with several locations, meaning that the customer will never go into the neighborhood without a lock screen notification from that business again. The system increases foot traffic as customers are enticed to visit in-store with strategic messaging and special offers as they enter the local area.</p>
<p><img class="alignleft wp-image-16762 size-medium" src="https://www.brickandmobile.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/starbucks1-300x200.jpg" alt="starbucks" width="300" height="200" />Digital coupons in the mobile wallet are updated in real-time as they are used; for example, if you have a digital coupon for a ‘Buy-One, Get-One Free’ coffee from Starbucks, after you buy your first coffee, you will get an alert that the next one is free. The notification will be sent directly to your smartphone, keeping you up to date.</p>
<p>These coupons are easily accessible, ready for use, and always up to date which will boost sales and recurring business. This is perfect for the local business and the on-the-go modern day consumer, who always has their smartphone so will never forget a coupon, ticket or promotion again.</p>
<p>Small to medium businesses that implement the LocalPass system will be able to customize  personal, digital coupon content relevant to their customers&#8217; interests and geo-location. These businesses will start a conversation because customers are thrilled at receiving special offers from simply downloading their digital coupon. We know that it costs five times more to acquire one new customer than to retain a customer, so when a business uses LocalPass, it saves money by retaining customers and making them loyal.</p>

<p><strong>THIS IS WHAT WE KNOW:</strong> Previously “mobile-friendliness” was seen more of a usability issue, Google never clearly stated that mobile-friendliness would become a ranking factor, until that fateful day: February 26th, 2015. Google made the huge announcement on their Webmaster Central Blog stating: “Starting April 21 2015, we will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results. <p><strong>HERE’S THE SCOOP:</strong> The Google mobile search change is officially being called the “Google Mice Update” which stands for “Mobile Cue”. This, in effect, is the Mobile-friendly label that Google has implemented on all mobile search results. Now this is the “cue” for users to click for a more enjoyable mobile browsing experience. Just like real “mice” that can squeeze into small, little spaces, the Google Mice want to squeeze all websites onto small mobile device screens. This update will effectively remove all websites that are not mobile-optimized from top mobile search results from any smartphone, anywhere in the world. <strong>This is a big deal.</strong> So big that when I recently did a search on my smartphone using a company’s name; the Google search retrieved other similar businesses that had “mobile-friendly” websites instead of the specific company that I was searching for! This is because the company in question, did not have a mobile-optimized website. Google is not joking around with the “Mice Update”. The new “Mobile-friendly” label next to all websites that have received their ‘seal of approval’ is the only way to go!</p>
<p><strong>THE BAD NEWS IS:</strong> If your client’s websites are not “Mobile -friendly” after April 21st D-Day, they will have severe repercussions. The reality is that the website will most likely disappear from the radar, even when searching for the specific company name, if not optimized for mobile. With the explosion of mobile internet usage; no one in business today can afford to ignore mobile users and the daily traffic that can result in mobile searches. We&#8217;ve been saying it for years; <em>mobile is not an option anymore, it’s a must have for every local business around the world</em>. Remember that as of TODAY the websites that don’t show up on the new Google mobile search will experience serious traffic loses. Serious traffic losses will mean diminished lead capturing, nurturing and sales conversions.</p>
