This game is a great way of getting to know and remembering the names of the other guests. You might think that you are only good at faces, but this game will surprise you! it also a provides a funny way to strike a conversation. After all you want all your bridal shower guests to have fun together, and avoid small groups who know each other from previous encounters to stick together in closed groups.

Once all the guests are present, have them site around the room in a way they see each other. The bride then tells her name and her favorite food, which has to start with the same letter as her name. So it would be something like “My name is Anna and I like Apples”. Then, the next person has to do the same, but she must also repeat what the previous person said: “My name is Joe and I like Jalapenos and this is Anna and she likes Apples”.

It would be hard to remember all the names, but because you are associating it with something concrete and because you are having fun you’ll do surprisingly well!

You can change up the game in many ways, the variations are only limited by your imagination. Instead of favorite foods you can also use adjectives, which would sound like “Hello, my name is Taylor and i am tenacious.” You can set this bridal shower game with its own theme. It could be places where they’d like to travel, about gardening or cooking.

Bridal shower parties provide a great occasion to party before wedding. If you want your bridal shower party to stand out spice it up with unique fun filled games. You can make it a night that your guests will remember for a long time. Given below are some unique bridal shower party games.

As an opener you can try the memory game with a twist. Keep an assortment of objects in a tray. Pass it around the guests so that they have a good look at it. Then ask the bride to go out of the room. Next instead of asking the guests to write down the contents of the tray ask them to write what the bride is wearing. In another interesting version the bride walks into the room wearing an apron which has household utility items pinned on it. The bride then goes out and the guests have to write the names of the items on her apron.

One of the most hilarious games is the bag on your head. All you need are plenty of brown paper bags. Each guest is required to place a brown paper bag on his or her head. Next turn on the music. When the music stops each guest has to remove something like bracelet, earrings which they don’t really need. The game goes on till someone realizes that the first thing to go is the bag on their head.

Balloons can be used to form interesting games. Prepare as many balloons as there are guests. Put the picture of a man in one balloon. Each guest is given a balloon which she pricks. The winner is of course the lady who finds the man inside the balloon. Another game just for fun is designed to con the bride. Prick a hole in one balloon and hand it over to the bride. Distribute rest of the balloons to the guests The person who blows up his or her balloon till it explodes first is declared the winner. The bride realizes that she has been taken for a ride when she is unable to blow up her balloon.

Many games can be designed with just words. Guests are supposed to complete a scandalous sentence beginning with Never have I . It could be never have I slept between two boys… If anyone has performed the scandalous deed she takes a drink and then is required to narrate the scandal. Another game which can make you double up with laughter is the household chore game. Each guest is given a piece of paper where she has to name a household chore which she most detests and give three reasons for it. Next collect all the slips of paper and read aloud the reasons but instead of mentioning the hated household chore say “I hate sex because…”

Another unusual game is the lingerie game. All the ladies invited to the shower have to bring a piece of lingerie with them. Collect all the lingerie items and place them in a bag. The ladies then form a circle and the bag is passed. Each guest is required to fish out a lingerie and guess who it belongs to. She can write it down on a piece of paper. In the end everyone claims their lingerie. The person who makes the most correct guesses is the winner.

Bridal shower is a party generally hosted by the bridesmaid a few days prior to the wedding. Guests are invited to shower the would be bride and groom with gifts which would enliven their new home. The groom is generally not invited to the party. During the party games are played to add life to the party. The custom of bridal shower games is popular in the US, Australia and Canada.

The history of bridal showers can be traced back to the 1500-1600 in the country of Holland. The legend goes that a Dutch maiden fell in love with a Dutch miller. The miller was blessed with a golden heart and used his fortune to alleviate the distress of the poor and hence was as poor as a church mouse. The girl’s father was vehemently opposed to the match and refused to bless his daughter with a dowry. However the villagers came to the rescue of the lovelorn couple. Each villager brought a gift which would help the new couple to set up house. The gifts were stored in a chest which was filled to the brim. The villagers then showered the girl with gifts. Her father experienced a change of heart and gave his blessings. Since that day a new bride would receive gifts from her family and friends to help her embark on a new journey. It proved to be a boon for girls hailing from poor families whose fathers were unable to provide dowry. In the 1890’s the tradition of bridal showers began in earnest as friends and relatives of the bride would pack gifts in a parasol which was opened over the bride’s head. The bride received a shower of gifts. The bridal shower was perceived as an alternative to the custom of giving dowry. The term ‘Bridal Shower’ was first used in the Grand Rapids, Michigan Evening Press 22 June 4, 1904: “The ‘shower parties’ that through mistaken hospitality the wedded couple are forced to attend…”.

In the 1890s the custom of bridal showers was celebrated in the urban areas of the US mostly by the upper middle class. By the 1930s the custom had spread to the rural areas of America as well. In the beginning these parties were spontaneous. Guests arrived unannounced in the home of the future bride and showered her with gifts. However with the passage of time these parties were more elaborately planned. Food and drinks were served and games incorporated to add to the fun. In the beginning most bridal shower parties were in the form of luncheons but later more and more shower parties took place in the evenings. Traditionally all guests at the bridal shower gathering were women but later men too were invited. One of the earliest games played was know the bride. The host would write questions relating to the bride on strips of paper and then handed them out to the guests. The questions could be which the bride’s favorite color is or which habit she detests most? All the guests were required to write down the answer to the questions. The bride would then go through the papers and declare the winner.

Over the years bridal shower games have become an integral part of the bridal shower party. Games not only add life to your party but are also an easy ice breaker. As games progress your guests will unwind and start interacting with each other. Here are some fun filled games you can try at a bridal shower party

One of the best games with which to set the party rolling is ‘Who am I’. You will need a certain amount of preparation for this. Write the name of a famous personality on an index card or piece of paper. The pieces of paper should be equivalent to the number of guests. As each guest arrives pin a paper on his or her back. Each guest is required to find his identity by asking questions which can be answered with a yes or no. The guest who guesses his identity first is declared the winner.

You can select a few games pertaining to the wedding theme. Wedding Dress is fun. All you will need is several rolls of toilet paper. Next form small groups of 4-5 guests. Each group is required to design a wedding dress out of the toilet paper provided to them. Accessories like ear rings, bracelets, bouquets are allowed. Once the task is completed the bride has to select a winner. Another game which is fun and will have you in splits is wedding night. A certain amount of imagination is involved in this game. Before you begin the game pack a suitcase filled with as sunglasses, men’s underwear, big bra, work gloves or any other interesting items. Pretend that the bride is on her honeymoon may be on a paradise island and the lights have just gone off. Next blindfold the bride and ask her to put on the items in the suitcase over her clothes. The effect is comical. You can also try the wedding bingo. All you have to provide each guest is a blank bingo card. Each guest will be required to fill in the names of the gifts the bride will receive. When the gifts are being opened the guests should tick the item they have guessed correctly. The guest with the maximum tick marks wins the prize.

Another interesting game is two truths and a lie. Each guest is required to introduce herself and tell three things about herself. He or she tells two truths and a lie. Others are required to guess which one is a lie. Many guests can tell imaginative lies and bring the house down. Another interesting game can be played with the help of safety pins. All you need is rice, safety pins and a blindfold. Fill half a bowl with rice and then immerse around 50 safety pins in it. Each guest is blindfolded and then given 30 seconds to pick up the pins. The guest who picks up the maximum is declared the winner.

Another fun game is the groom in his skivvies. Each guest is made to draw the picture of the groom in his underwear. The task is not made easy by the fact that the drawing pad is perched on the artist’s head. The bride picks the final winner.
