Parent's Visit!

Kyle's parents came to visit us in Curacao! They spent a week here and it wasn't long enough, because they were enjoying themselves so much!

We walked around our neighborhood! Kunau enjoyed it just as much as Pop!

We visited La Granja for lunch and had some delicious chicken and sandwiches!

We went to Saint Tropez and spent half a day lounging, swimming, and eating yummy food!

In the evening we went to dinner at an Indian food place that overlooked Curacao, it was beautiful. The dinner was to say goodbye to Kyle's co-workers and our friends, Dan, Caitlin and Ryan! I had never been to an Indian food restaurant before and I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but I ended up really liking the food! We will definitely be going there again soon! :)

Sunday Kyle and Pop went deep sea fishing with some of Kyle's co-workers! They caught a barracuda and Pop grilled it for lunch!

While Kyle and Pop were fishing, Mom and I went to church at the Holiday Beach Hotel that was lead by the military chaplin. It was a beautiful service over looking the beach. Afterwards, we went to Denny's for brunch!

Next we all tried something new! We went on a discovery dive at Port a miri beach! Our instructor was great and even though he was so helpful and professional Mom and I couldn't get out of our heads long enough to enjoy it! However, Kyle and Pop had a great time and the instructor took some awesome pictures! If you're ever in Curacao and you want a great dive instructor contact Bas Harts.

We played a lot of taboo and spades! I love playing games and it was great having enough people to play those fun ones! :)

Kyle BBQ-ed some juicy rib-eye steaks, and we ate them with corn and mashed potatoes!

We visited Shete Boka! First we went into the caves, then up onto the plateau and lastly out to Boka Pistol. Pop chased an iguana and tried to feed it some banana, but the iguana didn't want to hang out.

For dinner I made pot roast sandwiches with pepper jack cheese and Kyle cooked up his tasty chili!

We watched the Harry Potter movies in order on bluray!

On their last day here we lounged at Cas Abou Beach! It was a beautiful day and we had cheese burgers for lunch from the beach bar. :)

I took Mom and Pop to Punda to do some souvenir shopping and site seeing. We went over the Juliana Bridge, saw the colorful houses, walked by the floating market and admired the large cruise ships!

For dinner we went to Cravings sushi! It was decorated for Christmas and the food was (as usual) so delicious! Mom ordered soup and we forgot to tell her how big it would be, I think that was my favorite part of the evening! :)

We were so happy that Mom and Pop came to visit us, we had a wonderful time and I hope they enjoyed their vacation as much as we enjoyed their company!

Looking forward to my Mum visiting in January and Aunt Bobbie and Uncle Bunk visiting in February.

On a side note, we will be leaving the island at the end of March! So I hope we will be seeing you all soon, and I plan on keeping my blog even after we return the States!

We have had a wonderful weekend! We spent time with Kunau, he gets bigger everyday!

Then we went bowling and ate at the rib factory! We didn't bowl very well but we had a great time!

Then we went and hiked at Christoffel National Park!! It was exhausting but so beautiful!! We didn't make it to the top, but we're going to try again soon.

Yesterday was my birthday and Kyle really made it special!
I woke up and got some breakfast in bed, Kyle made me a delicious omelette! Afterwards he brought my presents up to me, some from my parents and brothers, a gift from Mike and Cyndi and five from Kyle. (I'm a lucky girl!)

I got a beautiful bracelet and ring from David, a shot glass from Richard (lol), an engraved jewelry box and owl figurine from my parents, a gorgeous dress from Mike and Cyndi; 5 urban decay eye liner pencils, an urban decay makeup kit, 5 nail polish set from OPI, Panasonic purple headphones and, a beautiful iphone case designed by Hannah Stouffer from Kyle.

Afterwards my wonderful husband did the dishes and I used my new nail polish to paint my nails.

I didn't know where we were going until we were at the spa! Kyle got us couple massages that were absolutely amazing!

Afterwards Kyle took me to get sushi and ice cream at Ema-Tei. We'd never been there before and it was so good.

We spent the rest of the evening playing with Kunau and watching Star Trek movies. It was the perfect day and it was all thanks to my wonderful husband Kyle. :)

Kyle grew up reading Sherlock Holmes, I really never did and although I wish I liked movies- I would be lying if I said I did. However, there is a british show we have started watching called Sherlock which is loosely based on the books and is set in modern times. Unfortunately the show only has 3 episodes per season and only two seasons are out! To say I'm impatient about my shows would be an understatement and that usually applies to seasons containing 20 episodes. The way that this show is filmed holds your attention and the writing will make your head spin. I would strongly recommend it. Vacation to Armona

After 6 months of Curacao, Kyle and I were ready to visit the states. We had been planning our vacation for months since we found out we had a good reason- Garrett's Wedding!!!!

The plan was to take 3 weeks and just spend some time in California.

On the way California we stopped at TGIF as we always do to eat and to get Kyle his favorite beer that we can't get in Curacao: blue moon! :)

We really got to do way more than I could have ever expected and still got to spend some time with the people we love. First we spent half a week just hanging out with Kyle's family and picking out our puppy! We got a 9 week old german shepherd and we named him Kunau. Kyle wanted that name because he met a guy with that last name when he was younger and always thought it would be a good dog name, and it is. So first... puppy pictures. Oh, and bear with me, because I just got an iphone and honestly I'm a little obsessed with instagram, so half of my photos and normal and half aren't. haha.

When we got him his ears were down and only fell up when he laid down as you can see:

One day- up they went!

Also, JC and Kunau loved to play together!

We got to spend time with Jeff and Michele at a steak house. They told the restaurant about his birthday and they put a cowboy hat on him and sang to him! :)

Then we all went up to Balch (that might be spelled wrong?) park and spent the day there, in the evening Kyle's family went home and we stayed the night in the tent trailer. Man, that thing is so much more comfortable than an actual tent!

When we got back to the house we had a lot of fun just hanging out with the fam.

We got to spend time with Jeff and Michele at a steak house, and they put that hat on Kyle for his birthday and sang to him. It was a great time!

Then my family came into town and spent some time with us. It was so wonderful seeing them, I had really missed them. Only got one picture, but that could be because we spent a lot of time playing the logo game. :)

After my family left we were ready to go to six flags! Kyle's parents were nice enough to watch Kunau while we drove to Magic Mountain and then on to the wedding. We rode a lot of roller coasters and had fun! There wasn't really anyone there so we could go on whatever we wanted.

We had so much fun and afterwards we got to go and relax at the hot tub over at the hilton.

The next day we were driving from Valencia to Victorville for the wedding. On the way we stopped to visit Kyle's Grandma Diane.

Afterwards, we went to the rehearsal for Garrett's wedding and the rehearsal dinner. Kyle was a groomsman. I met a whole bunch of really great people including Garrett's sweet wife. That night we played Smash Bros. on the Wii and just talked. Then the next morning was the wedding. It was a beautiful wedding and I felt lucky I got to attend.

I love the bottom two pictures because you can see the little girls watching. so adorable!

Then we went back to Kyle's family's house. After doing more research about taking the dog back to Curacao and taking the dog to the veterinarian I realized I needed to get a USDA stamp on Kunau's health cert. Sooo we didn't have time to send it in because we wouldn't get it back in time... so Micaela agreed to drive with me to Sacramento to get the stamp! It was so nice of her! She got a little hyper... so here's that picture hahaha

I cherished the time we had with them and we really did have a wonderful time!

This tutorial was really fun to do and actually did not take as long as I thought it would. I loved using those blues and purples and of course glitter rocks my world.

I also used this tutorial, but forgot to take pictures. Still, here is the tutorial for those of you that want to try it! I loved doing this one as well, but it did turn out a little messier than I expected!

As you all remember I dyed my hair red, if you don't here's a picture.

And then it faded to orange....

And then it grew out...

So I decided that I needed to dye it before our vacation that we're going on next week. I thought- purple, that's a cool color. I couldn't get a hold of the hair cutting lady so I decided I'd dye my hair myself. Mum sent me two shades of purple and three containers of bleach. Away I went...

First there was the bleach:

And it turned to a yellowish, blondish, pale orangish color which was pretty light. I know now that I should have left the bleach in longer...

Next I mixed the two purples my Mum sent me together...

Sooo It's weird that Purple plus Light Purple equals Blue...

Yeah the top of my hair was royal blue, another section was a light blue and the rest was a nasty greyish brown...

Needless to say that I'm back to black. Jet black and bangs will be good for now! :)

Well I've decided that I'm just not a very good blogger :) I can't seem to remember to make frequent posts. Then again, we don't do much and I know that you all like pictures!

Two weekend ago Kyle went on a half a day boat trip where they deep sea fished. He had alot of fun. I woke up that morning went to unlock the bedroom door and the lock had broken. I was stuck in the bedroom until he returned from his trip. But, I survived and he didn't have a camera so there aren't any photos from that trip.

Last weekend we went on a full day boat trip where everyone but me deep sea fished. I didn't fish because, let's be honest, I really didn't want to. :) The boat went all the way out to Clein Curacao (don't know if I spelled that right) which is a little island an hour away from Curacao. The guys caught three medium fish, lots of little fish, and one really big fish. You'll see in the pictures, one time the boat guy through the fish by my feet and it was jumping around on the ground. I'm proud to say that I kept my composure! Most of these pictures are taken by me but a few are from facebook. Enjoy! :)

Christmas was wonderful. This year we did one main gift and then stocking stuffing gifts. I got nail polish, tape runners for crafts, perfume, and sunglasses in my stocking and my main gift was a beautiful bracelet from Tiffany's. Kyle got personal desk organizer, socks, undies, wine stoppers,and three shirts in his stocking and for his main gift he got a 665ml Full Aluminum Shield Beer Stein of Science.

Then we got ready to go out... and took some pics

Then we carpooled with Ryan and Caitlin to Boka Pistol which was on the West side of the island. It was really misty from the waves crashing onto the rocks.

Then we went to the next part of that area. It had a little cave, it was cute.

Then we walked up some steps to to the top that over looked the whole area.

Next we drove over to Caitlin and Ryan's friend Sunshine. She runs a restaurant out of her house and not only does the seating area have a wonderful view but the food was delicious as well!

We decided that the best way to celebrate Christmas Eve on an island is to go to the beach!! :) Sooo we went with Brandon to Cas Abou Beach and enjoyed the water and the beautiful day! Brandon took a couple panorama pictures with his water proof camera!

I understand that my blog template isn't meant for such long pictures, so bear with me so that you guys can see the whole pic.

After some chinese checkers and so napping Kyle and I headed off to Ana and Jeremy's house to do a secret santa and have Christmas Eve dinner with everyone from Kyle's shop and their families. We got hanging swings for outside on our porch! Dinner was delicious and we had a great time.

Yesterday night Kyle's company had their Christmas party! We showed up around 7 and it was open bar until 11. People got prizes, we heard speeches, we had a delicious dinner, santa showed up, and then there was dancing for the rest of the night. Everyone wore white (most everyone) and my hair seemed pretty seasonal! :) I took some pictures, but then my camera ran out of batteries so some of these pictures are from Ana (who was sweet enough to let me borrow them)!

Hair!

For a while now I've wanted to dye my hair red. Crayon red. Rihanna red. So... I visited Phoenix with Kyle because he had training. I thought that it was a good time to dye my hair because I had the luxury of being about to run to the store to get the hair dyes (instead of ordering them online) and I had my mum to help me dye it (instead of putting Kyle through that girly experience). I researched quite a bit and realized I'd have to bleach my hair to get it the red that I wanted. That made me really nervous, but after reading about Kaylah's bleaching experiences over at The Dainty Squid I felt alot better. Therefore my trips to Sally's Beauty Supplies to buy hair dye and bleach began. It turned into a 36 hour project. Here's some pictures so you can better see what I'm talking about. First, the before picture:

Then we bleached... but I apparently have too much hair for just one bottle of bleach. One was only enough for the roots. After spending most of a day with blonde roots and black hair I finally bought two more bottles and bleached the rest of my hair. Here I am in the bleaching process.

Not gonna lie- it burned, but basically by the time we'd got the bleach on all of my hair it was already ready to come off. Here's how it looks after the bleach came out it was blow dried and whatnot.

I really did like it blonde- it was fun. However, it was not me at all and I needed to press on until the end! I was determined to go red!

Then I decided that Wildfire by Manic Panic would be best based on those little hair samples the have by the dyes. Manic Panic is really awesome product. It is semi-permanent butttt they don't really make permanent dyes in bright colors. This dye is vegan (so its basically just a vegetable stain) there's no peroxide or harmful chemicals- it doesn't smell bad and it doesn't burn. It's pretty awesome.

I felt like Clementine in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind. Agent Orange. Once again, I really didn't hate this color. It was a little out there but I felt like it didn't fit me. So I pressed on!

We went back to Sally's for the third time and talked with a very very very helpful girl that explained that the colors on the sample pieces of hair didn't accurately show what color my hair would be. She showed me two colors that would definitely take me hair from orange to red. I picked the one called Vampire Red!

She is the one that explained to me how awesome Manic Panic really is and that because there is nothing harmful in it that I can keep it in as long as possible. She also explained that the longer I keep it in the longer it would stay in. So I left it in for a couple of hours... with a trash bag on my head. :D

After all that waiting... all the time... all the help that mum had given me... all of the hair dye... it was the color I wanted!!!!

I really don't think that all of the yellow lightening in my parent's house does the color justice. You'll all have to see me in person. The salon always told me that they couldn't do this to my hair- I guess what they were really telling me is that they didn't have 36 hours to do this. I love how it turned out! This year we hosted Thanksgiving at our house. Lots of preparation and lots of food made by lots of people! It turned out really well! The guys deep fried 3 turkeys and we had peas, mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, string beans, two kinds of rice and beans, and a lot of desserts! We had a great time and there will be leftovers for a while. Take a look!

I'm thankful for my friends, my family, my home in Curacao and my wonderful hard-working AMAZING husband!

Honeymoon!

I got all of my honeymoon photos edited. We didn't take too many pictures, but we took a lot of video. So I'll post my pictures and then after I look through the videos I'll post some of those. :)

Kyle and I went to Yosemite National Park for our Honeymoon. We rented a beautiful cabin in Wawona, California. It was absolutely beautiful. We didn't stay very long, but it was so worth it! Take a look at our cabin!

The First day we were there we went hiking in the Red Woods. I'd never seen tree so big!!

That face is how I felt after hiking that long!

Next, we climbed some rocks and we got up close to a water fall called Brideval Falls. It was absolutely breath taking!

The next day we hiked to the Lower Yosemite Falls and that waterfall was even more beautiful than the first.

As silly as we were to climb over those rocks (it wasn't especially safe) it was even sillier to see my husband fall into the water.

Presents!

Before everyone left to travel back home from Phoenix they came over to my parent's house and spent time with us. We all gathered in the family room an chatted while Kyle and I opened our wedding presents. It was great to spend some time together before everyone went their separate ways!

The Wedding Day

All of the pictures I'm about to show you all are from the day of the wedding and they were taken by My Uncle Henry and My dad. More pictures of the wedding day that were taken by our wonderful photographer Jenny Spires will be posted after I receive them.

I want to start with some beautiful pictures of the wedding location.

The Wright House was absolutely beautiful and the staff was nothing but helpful throughout the whole event.

Next I want to give you all a look into before the wedding when the boys were getting ready in their "Club House" :)

All of the Groomsmen and my handsome Groom wore Purple High top Converse.

They all sat around playing smash brothers on the Wii, they all look pretty hypnotized by the screen!

When all else failed, my boys in purple and black posed for some cute and silly pictures.

And of course in the pic below, everyone is smiling except Timothy the photo bomber.

Now here comes the ceremony!

First there was the processional, they walked down to "All you need is love" by the Beatles played on the piano by Chris Wrisner.

The ceremony was next and Pastor Ken performed a wonderful sermon where he talked about how the process of making wine is similar to our relationship.

Then it was time to party!!

We had an awesome DJ that really had everyone dancing the whole night!

It started with dinner and the toasts.

We had pulled pork and chicken sandwiches with potato salad, beans and drinks.

The toasts went: my Maid of Honor Ashleigh (for some reason we don't have a pic of Ash giving her toast), the Best Man Tim, My Daddy, Kyle's Dad and then Kyle.

All of the toasts were given so well and there were alot of laughs and memorable moments from them.

Next we cut the cake. Our cake was prepared by Dad's Catering (they also did our food) and the flowers were painted by my Mum and me and arranged by my Mum the day of the wedding. The bottom piece was Vanilla, the middle piece was chocolate and the top piece was strawberry. I wish I would have been able to actually have a piece but I was busy dancing! :)

Our faces look like that because when we cut the first piece it fell over on to the table... that's also why everyone in the background is laughing :)

Kyle and I had our first dance to "I'm Yours."

Then there was the father bride dance and we danced to "Butterfly Kisses."

After Kyle danced with his mother to "I Hope You Dance."

They did the Longest Married Dance- the winners were Judy & John and Aunt Kathy & Uncle Dwayne.

Uncle Ally & Aunt Jane were married even longer, but they were unable to dance.

Then there was dancing and more dancing! :)

Everyone was having a great time- that's why we all look so silly Haha

We made our exit into the limo that the Wright House provided with everyone holding sparklers.

It was an incredible day that felt like a dream- it was everything that I wanted and everything that I'd thought of since I was a little girl. Thank you to the Wright House, Dad's Catering, DJ Alec Whaley, My incredible Parents, Pastor Ken, Karie, all my family and friends that attended (especially anyone who had to travel) and of course I want to thank my loving husband Kyle!

I couldn't have asked for more!

Rehearsing

The wedding rehearsal was the Friday before the wedding and by then everyone in the bridal party had made their way to Phoenix as well. We all drove down to the Wright House for the practice. There we met up with the manager Tiffany, Pastor Ken our officiant and all of Kyle's family. Some pictures were taken that day- here they are!

The location was just beautiful. It was almost as if we weren't in a desert.

After the rehearsal everyone came over to my parent's house to have a rehearsal lunch :) Everyone was there and we all had a wonderful time talking, eating and it gave the girls a chance to try on their bridesmaid dresses. Take a look into our beautiful lunch.

On the 5th of October Kyle and I made our way to Phoenix for the wedding we'd been planning for over a year. Throughout the time before the wedding we visited Tucson and celebrated Courtney's birthday, spend time with our family, ate some American food that we really missed, pulled together the remaining bits and pieces of the wedding and hung out with friends. Kyle and I borrowed my old honda from my parents and drove down to the town in which we'd first met! There we met up with Courtney, Mike's girlfriend and went to party city to buy some costumes for her birthday party (halloween themed). We decided to be pirates. A couple of my friends stopped by like Kaylee, Jessie, Elise and Megan. I was so happy to see everyone and to be able to just spend time with them. The boys played a little beer pong, talked about old times and yelled at each other while playing smash bros. We had a great time and we really appreciate Mike and Courtney for letting us be a part of that weekend and for letting us stay at their apartment! I don't have many, but here are some photos from our night in Tucson!

Yeah, that's my husband wearing a furry hat... not sure why though because I was too busy playing Uno!

Hey everyone!

I know I've been away far too long! As many of you know Kyle and I have been busy for a while- there was our anniversary, our vacation that included: going to Phoenix, seeing family, going by Tucson and seeing/ meeting friends, having our wedding, going to Yosemite for our honeymoon, and then spending 18 hours traveling back to Curacao! So... I'm behind and there are lots of pictures and lots of videos that I really want to show all of you I just need a little more time to do all the editing and get everything situated!
