Quickly becoming a popular way of playing, online poker like texas hold’em has its advantages and disadvantages. The reasoning behind the popularity is the ability to stay at home and still enjoy the game, rather than going out to a casino sitting a smoke filled room with all the noise that goes with it. Some like that atmosphere some don’t.

Disadvantages include the inability to read your opponents. In live poker, you are sitting directly with your opponents; if you’re good at reading people you have the opportunity to do so. Online poker on the other hand, you cannot, it’s simply you versus a player who can literally be on the other side of the world. How can you read a persons actions through a screen? You can’t!

It is the belief nowadays, that online poker games such as Texas pokeri is a game of chance rather than skill. In my opinion it always was a game of chance. Unless you count cards, or do constant mathematical computations, you cannot control or use your skill to make the dealer deal whatever you want to you. You could though, watch the cards and the folds, know what’s there and isn’t anymore. Hold’em pokeri doesn’t offer you that opportunity. The computer dealer will shuffle when it wants to impossible to count cards.

Online poker has the advantage of giving you the ability to quit easily by simply getting up and shutting off the computer. Whereas live poker, you have to get up, walk through the casino and resist all the temptations of the slot machines and other tables. Either way you go the temptation still exists, however, one is easier than the other to resist.

In a traditional game of face-to-face poker, tells are defined as any noticeable habit, physical reaction, or behavior that gives other players clues about what kind of hand you have. Because online players do not have the advantage of actually seeing their opponents they must rely on the other player’s actions to give away their hands.

While not always the most reliable tell, the stall is something that you should watch to determine betting patterns. The stall is defined as a player taking a long time to make their decision. With more and more players playing numerous games at the same time and experienced players doing it to throe you off (a reverse tell), the stall has become a less reliable tell.

However, if you have been playing with someone who has been consistently playing crisply and then they break from their usual playing patterns this generally means something. It does not mean the same thing in all players so it is important to observe and note what type of hands they usually have when they go into a stall. Likewise, if a player has been playing slowly and then they speed up their betting pattern, make a note of the situation and use that information the next time it happens.

Just like in traditional face-to-face poker, analyzing betting patterns is an important part of being a successful online poker player. This means being aware of a player’s habit or rhythms, including the normal speed of their bet, and the size of the bet. Learn to recognize patterns that develop when a player deviates from their regular activity patterns.

Another common tell for online players is referred to as the rant. In a normal face-to-face poker game players can subtly show signs of frustration, however online player often do not behave as subtly. They will engage in live chat and often rant about how the software is rigged or insult their opponents because they are losing. When a player goes on a rant, it is usually an indication that they are about to go on the tilt. This means that they are about to start playing recklessly because they are frustrated that they are not doing well.

In addition, if you come across an online poker player who has had their chat privileges revoked, you can assume that they are a ranter. They usually cannot chat because of a previous rude outburst or inappropriate comment. Keep in mind that these players are much more likely to tilt. Someone who whines in an online poker chat is usually the type of player that will not go on a tilt if they are losing.

Other significant tells are how the player uses the betting buttons. For example, using the auto check button is almost always a sign of weakness. Players that use the auto raise button before the flop are almost always strong players.

Also, keep an eye out for players that like to gloat after a win. This usually indicates that they play tightly and don’t win often. This is because players that win on a regular basis do not usually need to draw attention to them selves. Gloaters are also very likely to tilt. This is because after boasting so much after their win they hate to go on a losing streak and will often play recklessly.

It is important to pay attention to online tells, but keep in mind that not every tell means the same thing in every situation. You cannot see they other player but you can see what they do and then capitalize on it.

There are two ways in a poker game that you can end up having to put in the higher amount of money before the game has even begun. Traditionally, the person sitting to the left of the dealer is the ‘small blind’ and the person to the left of the small blind is the ‘big blind’. These are the two people who put money (or chips) into the pot before the game even begins. Suppose that you are playing a $10-$20 game.

Towards the beginning of the game, the $10 is the ‘big blind’ and as the game goes on, the ‘big blind’ will move up to $20. So here’s how it works at the beginning of each hand: the person to the left of the dealer has to put in the ‘small blind’, which is half of the big blind. If the big blind is currently $10, then the small blind is currently five dollars.

So before the beginning of the hand, the small blind puts in $5 and the big blind puts in $10. Voila, there’s $15 in the pot before the hand has even begun.

The other way that you could be forced to put in the big blind is if you’re joining a game that was already in progress when you decided to join the table. If the players of that game are willing to let you join the game, you have to put the amount of the big blind into the pot, no matter where you are sitting. This is the only way to join a game that was already in progress. As a game progresses, the big blind becomes the higher end of money; now, in a $10-$20 game, the higher value is not that much higher than the lower value, but some games are $50-$100 or even thousands of dollars. In this way, putting up the big blind to enter a game can be quite a serious investment. If you’re joining a game already in progress be sure that you have more than enough to buy yourself into the game, and that you also have enough to cover a small blind and a big blind, as it will soon be your time within the table rotation to put up those two amounts of money. So in addition to having enough money to bet on the hands that you play, you have to be able to pay the ‘up-front’ costs so to speak of buying your way into the game and then paying the small blind and the big blind that it will soon be your time to pay.

The best way to play your way out of a big blind is to buy your way into the game and then sit and relax for a while. Get to know the dynamics of the table and what the other players are doing; also, you’ll want them to develop a trust in you. What you don’t want to do is come swooping into their game and then attempt to pull the carpet out from under them in one swoop. Not having assessed the table and the players yet, this ends in loss more often than it ends in winning. Make sure that you have enough money before buying your way in, then relax for a few hands; take a low profile and use the opportunity to observe your fellow table-mates. Of course, if you get dealt a stellar hand the first time around, go for it, but don’t let the excitement of buying your way into the game take over and influence your first few hands. It is possible to win after buying one’s way in, but it must be done with finesse, not with force.

Playing Powerball is a very popular pastime for many people these days—and you can forget the notion that only poor people play Powerball. People from all walks of life fork over their money to have a chance to hit it big. In fact, some research shows that the average Powerball player is employed and is in the middle class.

Those least likely to play are those who are poor or those who are wealthy. With potential earnings of millions of dollars it is no wonder that Powerball has become so popular. Did you know that if you play Powerball Powerplay, you could multiply your winnings? That is, if you strike it rich.

Powerball has been an important part of the lottery system in many states for several years. Lottery is used in most cases to help fund government programs, usually education and schools. Many people play the lottery on a regular basis, while others only decide to purchase a ticket if the jackpot is over a certain amount. In addition, you can easily find groups of people across the United States that pool together their resources to purchase a large amount of tickets. Then in the event that they win, they will divide the amount amongst themselves. This is, apparently, a good way to play and to increase your chances of winning big money. There are many reports of groups of workers that have done this, and won in the past.

You might wonder why states added the Powerball Powerplay option to the Powerball tickets. It adds a bit of excitement and interest to the game, and increases the amount of money that is collected. In 2002, the State of Pennsylvania added the Powerplay option to their Powerball tickets in order to enhance and to get more people to buy Powerball tickets. They removed the number one from the Powerball so that people will have a better chance of multiplying their winnings.

In many states where residents can play Powerball, they have the option of multiplying their potential earnings. Usually, the Powerball Powerplay will cost one dollar more, but will give the person and unique opportunity to win a whole lot of money.

So, how do you play Powerball Powerplay? It is easy. When you decide to purchase a Powerball ticket, you will find a place on your ticket to check off to enter into the Powerball Powerplay prize. The cost of your Powerball ticket will only increase by a dollar. Not a bad deal when you consider the chances of possibly winning millions more dollars if you have the right numbers.

When you opt to add a dollar to your Powerball purchase and add the Powerplay to your ticket, you will slightly increase your odds at winning. However, if you do win, remember that the pay-outs work the same way as a regular Powerball win. You will have the option of taking your money in a lump sum with roughly one-third of the amount taken off the top for taxes or you can opt to have your winnings paid out to you over a period of years. When you opt to take the annual pay-out, then in the end, you will lose less of your winnings from taxes. The option you choose will depend on what you decide, along with legal advice and your financial advisor.

The next time you play the Poweball lottery, consider adding the option of the Powerplay. This is a great way to increase the amount of money you can win should the balls roll in your favor. One dollar is a small amount to pay for the potential to win millions of dollars.

Imagine you open your inbox and find an extremely convincing e-mail announcing your big lottery win! You excitedly open the e-mail, and fill out the few simple “verification” questions, that will of course identify that you are indeed the rightful winner and will speed the process of you collecting your winnings.Â

Is this the best day of your life? Hardly; unfortunately you have just been scammed and there are many repercussions for giving someone your vital personal information. These types of lottery scams are now becoming commonplace and it is important to know how to identify them and protect yourself.Â

These scammers are looking for very specific information such as your name, address, phone number, date of birth, Social Security number, bank or credit card numbers, and anything else they can use to defraud you. These people will use and sell your pertinent personal information and can do serious damage to your credit, your bank account, and your life. If you feel you have been the victim of fraud you should contact the Federal Trade Commission as well as your local police department and all of your creditors. There are several ways to protect you from this type of fraud.

The first is to absolutely always delete suspicious e-mails, especially anything that asks for personal information of any kind. This is important because the lottery absolutely does not issue “winning notifications” by e-mail or mail. The only way to claim a winning lottery prize is upon presentation of a winning lottery ticket that was purchased from an authorized lottery retailer. These retailers cannot redeem tickets over the Internet and only conduct business within the state in which they are licensed. This means that to claim a winning ticket, you must have previously bought a ticket from an authorized retailer and can only confirm your winning numbers on that ticket. It is then your responsibility to submit a claim for your winning ticket. No one will contact you with instructions, and especially not via mail or e-mail. It is important to note that no redemption of tickets can be done online.

The next way to protect yourself from a lottery scam is by never being fooled into giving out your personal information. Many of these dangerous lottery scams will provide a “claim form” that may illegally use the lottery logo. Absolutely never provide personal information such as your date of birth, credit card information, bank account numbers, or Social Security number. These Internet claim forms can look very convincing and require this personal information before authorizing your supposed win. However, once this information is given, it is too late. You will soon discover that this was all a scam and your personal information is no longer protected. This is not now lottery claims are made and all attempts to gain your personal information are scams.

Another way these lottery scammers try to get you is by asking for “small” upfront fees to cover expenses that they claim are associated with the delivery of the “winning prizes.” Never, ever, send money. You will not get this money back, and there is virtually nothing authorities can do to recover your losses. You are usually asked for these fees after exchanging in a dialogue with the scammer about your fraudulent lottery claim. These people can be very convincing and may pressure you into sending money by telling you that you cannot make your big claim without doing this. They may tell you that you are throwing away your win by not sending the “necessary” fees. Do not believe any of this and never send money of any kind. Claiming a winning lottery ticket does not cost money.

The fourth tip for avoiding online lottery fraud is to be proactive about your online safety and security. These scammers will impersonate all kinds of businesses and can be very convincing. It is ultimately up to you to protect your personal information from these types of attacks.

The last way to protect yourself and others is to report any suspicion of fraud to the Federal Trade Commission and to warn others about the dangers of online lottery fraud. These dangerous people can steal your information, your money, and your identity and wouldn’t be in business if we all take steps to stop their illegal activity.

A value bet is a bet that you make when you have a so-so hand, not a stellar hand, but not a weak hand either. If you have a marginal chance of winning, you’ll want to make value bets so that the amount of money in the pot gets increased so that if you win, it’s more. You want to draw the game out, not make everyone fold and leave you with the little bit that’s in the pot.

When you make a value bet, you are trying to get players who have the same type of hand as you do to enter more money into the pot before you win it or before the game goes to competition. A value bet raises the value of the pot and hopefully your winnings in the end. On the other hand, it is also possible that you do value bets and that you do succeed at raising the value of the pot, but then somebody else ends up being the winner of the pot.

Of course, there’s no rule that if you are responsible for the raising of the value of the pot that you are the only one who can claim it at the end of the game. The other players should not know that you are raising the value of the pot; the moment that they know it, your plan will be foiled because they will not allow you to carry out your plan if they know what you are planning.

A value bet is a good way to increase your chances of getting a good win out of a marginal hand. If you have a great hand, the hand will win itself. However, if you have a hand that is not exceptional, you have to be extremely clever to have it win you a big pot. The way that you do this is to keep everyone in the game for a little while, but then get them to fold. With a marginal hand, you might not want the hand to go to showdown, so the idea is to place small bets in the pot and get the others to match these bets. Once you’ve had everyone meet your bet, you’ve raised the value of the pot considerably (even though your bet was small) because all of the players have added that amount, so the total sum is considerable. Try to keep everyone in the game for one or even two small value bets, and then get them to fold. You can do this by entering a large bet after having already done a few smaller bets. In this way, you might convince the other players that you really have a phenomenal hand. If they think that you do, they will fold and you will be left with the pot regardless of whether or not your hand was the best one in the round.

Value betting is best done in games where the other players are not paying the most attention any more. Value betting doesn’t often work at the very beginning of tournaments because everyone is usually paying attention to what everyone else is doing. Value bets are best done at moments when the game has been going on for a while, but not at the point in the game where everyone is getting tired and going for broke. If you try to place value bets at the end of the game, most often somebody will call your bet and try to raise you a lot more to see if you’re serious. This is absolutely not the reaction that you want to your value bets. If this is the reaction that you get, you have a very difficult decision to make. Most likely, your opponents don’t have hands that are any better than your is, otherwise they would have been making the bets, not meeting yours. However, their hands could be almost as good as yours, or they could be slightly better than yours. If you stay in the game by meeting their bets, to prove that you were not just value betting, you stand a chance of losing. Of course, at any give moment in poker you stand the chance of losing, so why not cut lose and give it a go?

Playing poker online, like everything else that you do online, affects the security of your computer, and by extension, you yourself. Every time a person connects to the Internet, they are sharing information with hackers who know how to connect into their information that is flying all over the Internet.

For things such as email and MySpace, that doesn’t constitute so much of a security problem. Sure, someone might steal your password and proceed to send out spam from your email account or hijack your MySpace account and send out multiple bulletins to all of your friends about ringtones, but, all things said and done, this type of hijacking is quite minimal compared to what can happen when playing poker online.

Playing poker online involves transferring money, so security for online poker is a slightly different ballgame than simply securing your email and MySpace passwords.

When it comes to securing your online poker experience, you have to be extra careful. One of the most important things that you can do is make sure that your virus protection and general security service are current and updated. Every computer that is connected to the Internet should have a subscription to Norton or McAfee, or some other type of security service if you’re certain of the validity of this ‘other service’. If you know little about computers and software, you should stick with Norton or McAfee; if you really know what you’re doing when it comes to computers, you can venture beyond these, but for the rest of us, there’s the mainstream. Norton and McAfee will help you to secure your computer, not just when it comes to online poker, but in everything that you do online. The services are not free, but it’s a small price to pay for the safety of your files and your money.

In addition, you should make sure that in the security settings of your computer that you have the Firewall enabled. A lot of people disable this because it can be a bit of a pain, but again, for those of us who know little about the inner workings of computers, this move is more than slightly dangerous. A Firewall will help protect the security of your computer by keeping hackers out of your files. Though a Firewall can be somewhat annoying, it is always better to keep your computer protected than to let others potentially access your information. If you’re playing poker online, or doing something else that involves the transfer of money, you should absolutely have your Firewall always on.

The other extremely important thing that you can do to minimize troubles that you have with hijackers is to ALWAYS type a web address into the address bar of your Internet page. Clicking links in your email (or other links) is a dangerous practice; this is how hijackers get your passwords and then use them to their advantage and your disadvantage. When you click on a link in an email that says PayPal, you may be connecting to PayPal, as you think you are. You may also be connecting to a fake Paypal site, designed by hackers so that they can steal your password when you ‘sign in’—even though you’re not signing in to anything. If you get an email from Paypal that says ‘Click here to go to your account’ simply go to the address bar and type in the address for Paypal. This is always the safest way to go to a website. Pay special care when you’re going to sites on which money is exchanged. For everyone from poker players to eBay sellers, this is an important piece of information to remember.

Razz is one of the several variations of stud poker that are commonly played today. Stud poker is generally defined as a game in which a combination of face up and face down cards are dealt to each player in multiple betting rounds. While there are some rules that are consistent throughout all stud poker games, some details are modified depending on the variation of stud that is being played. The most common form of stud poker is seven-card stud and Razz is a version of that.

In Razz poker, there are between two and eight players. Each player is dealt a total of seven cards. Three of the cards are dealt face down and the other four are face up. The goal of seven-card stud is to make the worst or lowest five card hand you can, using any combination of the seven cards.

In Razz, like seven card stud, all players are forced to ante. The ante is usually one-fifth the low limit bet size. In this game, there are five betting rounds. The ante does not count towards any future bets.

After the deal when every one has one card showing, the person with the highest card has to bring in. Bringing in means placing the low limit bet size in the pot. If two players are tied with the highest card, then the player to the dealers left will be required to bring in. This bet will count toward you first round of wagering. This means that unless someone raises the bet you won’t have to put any more money in the pot until you see the next card.

There are five rounds of betting in a game of Razz. In a game with fixed limits, all of the bets and raises have to be equal to the low limit bet size or the high limit bet size depending on which round it is. In rounds one and two, it should be equal to the low limit. In rounds three, four and five it should be equal to the high limit.

In a game of Razz straights and flushes don’t count against a hand. In addition, aces are considered low.

In the game of Razz, the highest card by suit begins the action with a forced bet. In the following rounds the low hand will act first. If more then one player has the lowest hand then the player who is clockwise from the dealer will start.

Another Razz rule is that the dealers announce a pair the first time that they occur. However, the dealer will never announce pairs of face cards.

One rule that Razz does not incorporate, unlike some other hi-low poker games, is the eight or better rule. Some poker games define a low hand as a hand in which all of the cards are less than eight. Most of the games that require that a player meet this low condition have split pots. However, Razz is a game where only the player with the lowest hand wins. This includes hands with cards that are higher than eight. Players can even win with high pairs though it is unlikely.

Any player still in the game after the last round of betting will show their hand, hoping to win the pot. The best possible low hand is often called the bike or the wheel. It is comprised of an ace to five straight. The next best hand is an ace, two, three, four, and six, followed by and ace, two, three, five, six. The forth-best hand is an ace, two, four, five, six, followed by an ace, three, four, five six.

Though private or home games of poker can have any rules that they wish, at a casino, the rules governing the ranking of hands is always consistent. Poker is usually played with a 52-card deck. The ranking of those individual cards from highest to lowest is ace, king, queen, jack, ten, nine, eight, and seven, and so on down to two, which is often referred to as deuce. There is no ranking amongst suits; this means that a jack of hearts is equal to a jack of diamonds.

A poker hand will be comprised of five cards. Poker hands are ranked and categorized. In this article the different hands are listed from highest to lowest, meaning a higher category will beat any hand falling in a category beneath it.

The highest hand in poker is called the royal flush. It is made up of an ace, king, queen, jack, and ten, all of the same suit. Because all suits are considered equal, all royal flushes are equal as well.

Beneath a royal flush is a straight flush. A straight flush is any five cards in a sequence that are of the same suit. If two players have straight flushes the one with the higher top card is the winner. In a straight flush an ace can be considered as a low, being placed after two, almost as if it was a one.

The next ranking hand is a four of a kind. This is used to describe four cards of the same ranking,; for example four threes. In this hand the fifth card can be anything. A four of a kind may also be referred to as a quad. If two players have a four of a kind hand, the highest set of four wins.

A full of house is the next ranked hand in poker. It is comprised of three cards of one rank and two of another rank. For example, three sixes, and two sevens would be considered a full house. If two players have a full house the one with the higher set of three cards wins.

A flush is a hand with any five cards of the same suit, not in any particular order. If two players have flushes then the highest top card wins. If the top cards are the same then you would compare the second highest card in the hand.

The next category of poker hand is a straight. This is a hand with five cards in sequence of any suit. An ace in a straight can be either high or low. When comparing two straights the one with the highest top card wins.

Next is a three of a kind. This hand contains three cards of the same rank. The other two cards can be anything. This hand is also referred to as triplets or trips. If two players have a three of a kind then the one with the heist top card wins the hand.

The next type of poker hand is two pairs. This hand consists of two sets of two cards of the same rank. For example, a hand with two eights and two jacks would describe two pairs. If more than one player has two pairs then the one with the highest pair wins.

The next ranked hand is a pair. This is simply a hand with two cards of the same ranks, and three cards that don’t match. If two players have pairs the one that is higher wins. If both pairs are the same then compare the highest-ranking card not in the pair.

If no players have ands that fall into any of these categories then the player with the highest individual card wins.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of dishonest people in the world, and if you look at just the poker world, you will find an even higher percentage of cheaters there than in the ‘real’ world. The fact of the matter is that poker players know that they can cheat, in most cases, and get away with it. Since that is the case, the pull to earn even more money at the poker table influences their decisions.

Even a person who’s generally honest in real life might be the biggest poker cheater on the planet. So that you can spot all of these cheating poker players, read the methods of cheating below. Once you’re familiar with the methods, you’ll be much better able to spot them happening when you’re there at the table.

One of the best ways to cheat in poker is to be the dealer. When you are the dealer, there are countless ways that you can manipulate the deck of cards, manipulate your shuffling and your dealing of the cards. One of the signs that a dealer is going to be doing something a little fishy is in the way that the dealer is holding the deck. Cheaters usually have a slightly different way of holding the deck than an average poker player has; namely, the cheating dealer usually conceals much more of the deck with his fingers than a ‘regular’ player does. Think about the way you hold a deck of cards as you prepare to deal; most people hold the deck quite loosely, and much of the deck can be seen between your fingers. Cheaters often hold the deck in what is called a ‘mechanic’s grip’ which doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re holding the deck tightly. What it means is that they’re using their fingers to cover as much of the deck as they can. This allows them to manipulate the cards without the other players seeing what’s happening. If the dealer at your table is covering the deck by putting the deck of cards really inside his palm instead of letting it loosely stay between his fingers, you’ll want to keep an eye on him while he deals instead of engaging in a conversation with your tablemates.

If your dealer is holding the deck suspiciously, you’ll want to watch closely. Think of it as a magic trick with cards, and your job is to be able to pinpoint at what moment the ‘trick’ took place. Common methods of cheating are in manipulating the placement of the cards within the deck before dealing, and then dealing oneself the cards that you’ve put in strategic spots within the deck. Some dealers put cards that they want on the bottom of the deck and then deal them to themselves when they deal their own hand, but deal from the top of the deck when they are dealing the hands of the other players at the table. Of course, if the deck is cut properly, this trick will not work, but there are ways to manipulate the cutting of the cards, so if the dealer offers you the deck to cut, watch closely which stack he places on the bottom. He might have just given the illusion of cutting the cards but have placed the bottom of the stack right back on the bottom, and then will deal himself those desirable cards.

Cheaters often deal themselves extra cards (two each time instead of one) and then get rid of the extras by throwing them on the floor or putting them up their sleeves. If the dealer has many more cards to choose from, there’s a much better chance that he can come up with a worthwhile hand.

The bottom line is that if you watch closely enough, you can see people cheating at poker. Don’t forget that cheaters have probably developed their skills to the level of a magician; so seeing it with your own eyes can be difficult. Trust your instincts; if something looks too good to be true, it probably is.Several Ways that Players Cheat in Poker and How you can Spot Them
