Awesome — a new scientific study looks at which dance moves women find the most attractive.

Men: apparently we’re looking at your head, trunk, wrist and knee movements to see what kind of a potential you have as a mate. And here’s a video demonstration of some sexy and not sexy moves.

The video has no sound so I suggest playing some dance music when you watch to get the full effect. How about that “I like to move it move it” song from the 90s?

I didn’t realize how much I missed having a big garden until I was in one today.

I couldn’t stop touching things. Getting under and into the snap pea’s teepees. Checking squash vines for female blossoms, deadheading the marigolds.

Like a teenager covering her bedrooms walls with pictures of heartthrobs, now I’m plastering the wall of my blog with photos of the garden. (Clicking each picture will take you to the higher quality versions on Flickr. )

This is my favorite photo because of the bug flying through the sky. It is shaped like how a child would draw a bug. I love it.

Peas hung out like laundry

Water from a sprinkler is one of the most captivating things to watch. I wanted to see water fall on everything.

And pumpkins just casually lying around! Los Angeles pumpkins are so expensive! But these were lying on the ground like cash money.

There was a huge jungle of squash vines that all looked identical from above, but I liked looking underneath and knowing that this will be one thing

and this will be something else

and these something else entirely.

This amazing garden is cared for by Taking the Reins – a nonprofit that empowers adolescent girls through activities that center around riding and caring for horses.

Oh yeah! There’s horses there too. But that’s a whole other fangirl blog entry.

Right Brain/Left Brain?

Cool!

You may have seen this before but it was new to me — supposedly the direction that this dancer appears to spin tells you whether the right or left side of your brain is dominant. If she appears to be spinning clockwise, your right brain is dominant, and counterclockwise spinning means you are left-brained. (Left brain being the logical/mathematical side and right brain being creative/artistic.)

Some people can even choose to see the dancer spin either way. When I first watched, I could only see her spinning counterclockwise. (I was a little disappointed – I wanted to be right-brained.) I couldn’t even see her spinning the other way if I concentrated.

Then I found the second video below, which helps you “cheat” and see how she could be spinning both ways. After I watched that video, now the dancer appears to be spinning clockwise in all the videos for me. Hmm.

Balsamic Strawberries

Just What You Needed: Free-Use Snail Pictures

There’s a real shortage of creative commons snail photos out there. That’s going to be a problem if my dream of snails becoming as iconic as cupcakes is ever going to come true. I would like to see snail necklaces, snail t-shirts, and snails in various seasonal settings in 2011 snail calendars. So here are a few snail photos you are free to use wherever. Attribution would be nice, but is not required.

I call this one “Snail Sunset”

and this one is called “Snail Turning a Fairly Sharp Corner”

and finally, there’s the slightly artier “Snail on My Finger in the Sky”
