Hit-A-House tour member, Doug Smikens demonstrates what happens when a simple, little chip to a par-5 green goes haywire. Multiple cranial explosions were witnessed by fellow players. Sounds of sobbing and mild crying later were heard from the direction of the Simkins cart. Doug forgot all about it after a big prime rib sandwich lunch at Bootleggers in downtown Aurora.

I just got back from Panang, Malaysia where I presided over the 1st Annual How To Draw A Fish Like Dennis Jones Art Seminar. It was a long way to go for a ten minute art lesson, but well worth it as my wry sense of humor translated perfectly into the Asian culture (don’t let the questioning looks of these young seminar attendees fool you… they were laughing hilariously at my jokes on the inside… I guarantee it).

We did have some troublemakers from the United States that opened a bootleg fish t-shirt business in the back of the room during the class, but other than that, it all went pretty well.

This is what an hour in 100+ Missouri heat looks like. Other than the shooting pains up my neck and the pain in my chest, I felt pretty good.

Here is an oil painting I did of a levitating kitty. It started out as a drawing in my sketchbook… so I threw that on here too, so you can see the before and after.

I watched a report on the CBS Sunday Morning program about Tim Hortons. I had never heard of Tim Hortons. He was an all star Toronto Maple Leaf hockey player that started making donuts in 1964, and now 45 years later has over 3,000 stores in Canada. They are thinking about expanding to the states now. As I watched the report, I had a serious CRAVING flung on me! Those donuts looked SO good!

SocMo likes to juggle donuts and eat them as they go by. Such a wackadoodle!

This past Friday night was the JUNE ArtWalk in downtown Springfield. Art, music, gallery shows, ect., ect.

As you can see, when we arrived downtown at a little past seven, the streets were alive with pavement and cars. That’s because everyone was crammed inside the BellWether Gallery admiring Dennis Jones artwork! It seemed that Dennis’ art was heavily guarded by a couple of violinists, and cello players.

Also of note, there was some nice SMOOTH JAZZ playing next door and the guy with the acoustic guitar kept playing HOTEL CALIFORNIA over and over and over.

All in all, it was an eclectic evening which is just downright hard to put into words… but let me try… stunning, sweaty, smashing, sensational, steamy, sordid, and superb!

Not being one to always follow the rules, I was feeling rebellious and on my way to ignoring this sign and just driving right in… until I read the fine print. Well… OKay… THIS time…
