Christian Dior Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2009 2010 Video

The video is out. As always, leave it to the House of Dior to put on a magical couture show. Everything is just perfect -- the clothes, the intimate set, the amazing music and of course, models with bone-chilling, 102% pure couture poses that ooze 'high fashion'.

As a child, I grew up thinking Dior is the pinnacle of haute couture. This was before I knew about all the other (and older) couture houses. Of course I now know better but Dior (and John Galliano) to me is very special. Would I be able to go to a Dior haute couture show in the near future? I don't know. Will you, or some fashion angel, help me go to Dior couture someday? I hope so. In any case, I have a long way to go and I still need to pay my dues to the fashion gods. Either that, or, I need to win the lottery. Then I'll spend it all on a spectacular Dior ball gown which I'll wear on my deathbed when I'm 80 years old so my grandchildren would be able to say to everyone "Bryanboy died in Dior couture."

The Daily Beast's Fashion Blogger Power List

The lovely folks over at Tina Brown's The Daily Beast just published their "Fashion Blogger Power List". Your favourite online heavyweights are there: Fashion Toast, The Sartorialist, Style Bubble, and Tommy of Jak and Jil.

Believe it or not, I often get bewildered every time media outlets, whether online or in print, publish wonderful things about me. I mean come on --- I could barely put sentences together and my pictures are of mediocre quality to be a proper, proper 'blogger'. But you know what? For some strange reason, people seem to respond to my crazy formula of being fun, frivolous, spontaneous, carefree, post everything raw as it is, warts and all... it somehow works for me! I guess that's proof enough that the internet is so awesome. You can be a cuckoo kooky character living his dream (such as myself) and still have an audience.

Oh and this is the nicest thing someone said about me, EVER.

Day Train from Munich to Milan [part 1]

I originally thought of flying from Munich to Milan but I've never been on a European train before (other than subway systems) so I decided to use the efficient rail system instead. You know, take your average third world city boy and put him in a train to enjoy a bit of countryside scenery yaddi yaddi yadda. I think it's a nice way to travel -- especially when you're traveling with 40 kilos worth of baggage on you. And I'm not talking about your body weight, Snejana.

I took the day train from Munich to Milan, train 89 departing 1:30PM arriving at 8:35PM. I wasn't sure whether it's a high-speed train or not because it took almost 8 hours for the entire trip. In fact, we arrived in Milan late.

I booked myself a cheapo second class seat which I got for 29 euros. Not bad eh? It's a day train so I don't need the comforts of first class. Besides, it has been my experience that most hotties and cuties and young uns travel the cheapest way and you know me, I have a weakness for mancandy...

And mancandy is exactly who I got as a seatmate!

Or so I thought.

I was one of the people who got to the train first. My seat was near the end of the carriage (where they have space to keep big luggage) and there's a really hot German guy sitting beside it. There I was thinking "ooh la la, it's my lucky day!!!"

He said his hellos, asked me for my name and we basically chatted. We talked about where we're from, where we're going, what we're gonna do there, so on and so forth. He even helped me put my briefcase and my carryall in the overhead bin because he's tall.

Five minutes into our conversation, this Japanese backpacker tapped my shoulder, telling me I'm sitting on his seat.

I was like watchu talkin about GURLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL, this is my seat. Seat #96.

Wrong.

The seat number was alright but basically I was in the wrong train car!

Damn. I said goodbye to the hot German guy but we exchanged contact details and he added me on facebook lol. Did I see him in Milan? No.

I got up, got my stuff and went two coaches down and found my right seat.

My seatmate this time was this 55-year old festively plump Russian woman. She's traveling with her daughter who is 32 years old (she works for Brioni in Milan) and her two children. I love Russians!

It's funny because the very talkative grandmother kept on chatting to me in Russian (she doesn't know a word of English) and her daughter translated the whole time. They had bags and bags filled with food and the old lady kept offering me all these sandwiches, cakes, chocolates etc. I refused because I already ate but she insisted... she grabbed my wrist and wagged her finger at me. Eek!

I thought it was sweet and hospitable of her but omg. LOL.

Anyhooo...

I saw lots and lots and lots of greenery alright -- trees, grass, mountains, rivers, etc. It was fun!!!

You know, I want to visit Innsbruck in the future. I know I haven't seen much by just being on the train but for some reason, I had the impression it's a big (ish) town... there were lots of people on the station. I was like, where the hell did all these people come from...

This kid in the green shirt sat a seat or two away from me and he's a faggot. LOL.

More scenery...

I was wondering how the hell they were able to make that bridge/highway, right in the middle of nowhere, up in the mountains...

The building that you see below is actually a bar/cafe. Again, right in the middle of nowhere...

Paris Splat!

I thought about writing one heck of a tearjerker because it's such a good story and then I realized it's not fair to the other party. I don't want people to vilify him if you know what I mean. Besides, I may lead a semi-public (emphasis on semi) life because of this blog but in the end, we're still both, especially him, private individuals. So let's cut this purging session short.

I confess -- the main reason why I went to Paris was not for the shows but for, well, Mr. D who turned out to be Mr. Disaster. The shows were pretty much icing on the cake. In fact, I thought about going to the shows in the VERY last minute. Paris only came to the picture because it's a great meeting point for me and someone who lives in another part of Europe.

Basically, Mr. Disaster and I only had 2 days to hang out, smack right during menswear fashion week, before he had to go back. So rather than werqing the shows, I chose to spend time with him -- a decision I truly, truly regret.

During the day it went well... but come night time, it was a different story. To cut this piece short, let's just say it got complicated in the end.

There's much, mucho more into it but I don't wanna make this post a big song and dance number on me not getting what I want though I must say that I feel as if my efforts were not reciprocated in the way I expected him to do.

You know you're in very, very fucked up situation and it's like talking to an insensitive, indifferent brick wall when you're in tears and someone asks you "why are you crying" and then you reply, "why the fuck do you think I'm crying?"

Some just don't get it.... maybe it's a cultural barrier? Who knows.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much either. I *know* we're treading dangerous waters because we live too far apart... but whatever happened to living in the present and enjoying what's happening now rather than worrying about tomorrow?

I digress.

As my friend told me, there I was in Paris... my chance to live my dream (which I did, partially, thanks very much) and go to the shows but instead, some bastard fucks me over because he couldn't live a minute without knowing the hour.

The funniest thing of all is that I fell for this guy back in January because of his text messages. Well guess what... the day AFTER he left Paris, my phone was lost/stolen at Le Queen and a ton of memories from January were there.

Good riddance, perhaps?

Now.

So you get heartbroken one day, your phone stolen the next and then you get mugged by two scary men on the third day... well, you know how it goes, bad luck always come in threes.

But you live and you learn.

I must admit though... I couldn't help but wonder why it ended the way it did. I could only think of two reasons -- either a) he's into me but he's a coward or b) maybe he's just not THAT into me. Or maybe it was also my fault because I gave up on him really quick and told him to leave me alone and never contact me back (which I also regret saying).

In any case, it's all useless and pointless now. Like what I always say, yesterday is a closed book. I've moved on.

Meanwhile... this whole thing reinforces my belief that fashion should go first before anything else.

My fellow non-Americans, how did you celebrate American Independence Day? Well, from Europe, I went straight to Tokyo for the Marc Jacobs Japan Independence Day party.

The event was held at the ultra fabulous and super exclusive Q.E.D Club in Tokyo. It was a great venue.

It even had a gorgeous Japanese garden.

I had to do a bit of press work so I went there early. I also got interviewed by the lovely MTV Japan crew.

Although Marc Jacobs wasn't there, it was packed with very important people in Japan. I've met a number of LVMH execs, fashion folk, models, celebrities, personalities, made new friends and of course, it's always nice to see my own Tokyo crew.

Sumire Matsubara. I love, love, love her!

Leah Dizon is so stunning and super nice! She's part-Filipino. I had a quick chat with her and she gave birth about two months ago.

The lovely Verbal is also there...

... and of course, superstar Mika!

The folks Nars also did a live make-up presentation on models, featuring looks from Marc's Fall/Winter 2009-2010 runway show.

Yes I know. I'm currently backblogged big-time. Excuse me as I play catch up. I dislike (hate is a very strong word) reminding people constantly that I'm ***still*** a solo act. You know, a one-man circus/independent operation. People often ask me if I have a manager or an assistant. Why? I don't know. Crazy. In any case, the answer, as some of you already know, is a big, fat NO.

Anyhoo, I'm enjoying a bit of me-me-me time so expect quite a number of blog entries from yours truly over the next few hours.

Some are new, some are a few days (or perhaps a week or two) old but I'm glad to share bits and pieces of all the good -- and horrible -- memories I had recently.
