Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2010 Bag with Fox Fur Tail Charm

Speaking of designer handbags, a box from Louis Vuitton arrived earlier this week after being stuck in customs for a day. It's not out yet at the stores so expect it to arrive in the next few months. Loving it!!!

Luckily it arrived safe and sound. Whew. Let's take it out for a ride.

I took more photos but I needed it for something else so I can't share until it comes out.

Menswear on Hold

It's Christmas Day here in Manila and believe it or not, I've spent the entire night working on administrative tasks: answering emails, reworking on my site, wrapping up my year-end accounting, etc.

Some of you wanted to know whether or not I'm going to Milan and Paris for the upcoming fall/winter 2010-2011 menswear shows next month.

The answer, unfortunately, is no. Unless I win the lottery tomorrow or a miracle happens within the next two weeks, it's a "no can do" from my part. I can't afford it. I wanna save money for womenswear because it's much more exciting. I don't even know if I can do the trifecta (NY-Milan-Paris) like last season. I guess we'll see.

Oh Paris, I miss you so much. I took this really awful shot of the Eiffel Tower after the AF Vandevorst show in October.

Meanwhile, I only opened 8 presents this year. I think it's my karma not to get a lot of material presents this Christmas Day. I mean hello... 2009 has been incredible to me. With all the amazing and mind-blowing experiences that I've had, every day felt like Christmas!

If you were to make me choose between getting 5 designer handbags (or designer something something) as presents OR experiencing everything that has happened to me the past 12 months, what do you think will I pick? Well, it's a no brainer innit? Bleugh.

A big thank you to all my readers, supporters and friends who truly made 2009 the most memorable year of my life.... so far! HAHA. ;)

PHI Collection to Shut Down

I dislike being the bearer of horrible, horrible, bad news but I've just read on WWD that Susan Dell's PHI Collection is going to close shop.

Phi, the critically-acclaimed label founded by Susan Dell in 2003, is closing, another victim of the recession.

The collection had developed a cult following in the New York fashion scene.

But the pre-spring delivery, which arrived in stores this month, will be Phi's last, and the Phi boutique at 71 Greene Street in SoHo is expected to close at the end of next month. The company cited economic conditions for the decision.

"It's a really challenging climate right now for luxury goods," said Phi chief executive officer Julia Hansen. "There is not so much confidence in that market going forward."

Anyway, I can't help but wonder how much they paid the legendary Steven Meisel and the BIG girls (Sasha, Natasha) for their Fall 2009 ad campaign. In this harsh financial climate, every penny counts.

What a travesty.

I'm just starting to get myself interested at PHI after seeing their work (their Spring 2010 collection is one of my faves) and now comes news they're shutting down. So sad.

On second thought, nah.

Almost everyone I know in NY are back to their respective homes wherever they are in the world. I don't want to repeat what happened in 2005 when I went to Paris and celebrated Christmas there by myself. I love the city alright but it was very, very lonely.

It's insane, the amount of pressure to be thin, as well as some of the things these actresses do in order to lose weight.

I mean, I for one like to be slim but I'm not gonna push it to the extreme and touch drugs, if you know what I mean.

Oh my god.

This just in -- actress Brittany Murphy passed away yesterday morning (Sunday).

Brittany Murphy and husband Simon Monjack

From TMZ:

Brittany Murphy died early this morning after she went into full cardiac arrest and could not be revived, multiple sources tell TMZ.

She was 32.

A 911 call was made at 8:00 AM from a home in Los Angeles that is listed as belonging to her husband, Simon Monjack, the Los Angeles City Fire Department tells TMZ.

We're told Murphy was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

32 years old? Cardiac arrest? My god, she was so young.

I hope it's not a case of drug overdose.

So sad.

RIP Brittany Murphy. Goodbye, Tai!

You'd be very surprised how lightweight it is. The craftmanship and details of that piece is truly incredible.

Anyhoo, because I live in a giant sauna tropical country, jackets, really, are usually the last thing on my mind but that Dries jacket blew me away.

If there's something major that's missing in my poor, poor, closet, it's the embellished jacket. Pair it off with a plain white tank or tee with boyfriend (what boyfriend) jeans and bam, instant look.

I've been obsessing about these things for the longest time but haven't had the chance to buy one yet because a) the designer versions are usually way too expensive and out of my price range...

b) the high-street/fast fashion versions are either snapped up/sold out easily or not sold where I live (yes, I'm talking to you, Topshop).

I want one. I really do. I want a heavily-embellished, super beaded, super studded, super sequined, super embroidered, super excessive to the nines jacket.

The highly-influential French Vogue is renowned for their groundbreaking and superb, high-voltage, totally high fashion covers but this eyesore, my dearest friends, has got to be the WORST Vogue Paris Collections cover I've seen ever. I can't believe Carine signed approval on THIS mess.

THIS is what they released last season.

I don't understand why they can't choose just one, beautiful runway image that defines the show season altogether.
