Back from my month long hiatus. I’m here with Lee Benoit in this episode to kick it talking about Minecraft. Our latest digital obsession and apparently the internet’s obsession too. We each give our points on what we like most about the game, what can be improved, what’s coming out in the future, and general tips and tricks. Lee tells us about his rap song that he put together about Minecraft and his kick-ass multiplayer server that I’m on the time. Go get the game and come hang out with us on our server. This episode was packed full of guests and goodness where we discussed what to look for when buying your first Digital SLR Camera, good comics to get for a comic book newbie, and Apple’s latest announcements.

What to look for in your first DSLR?

Marc Weintraub and Lee Benoit start off the show with their takes on DSLRs. Marc started first with a series of questions to ask yourself before deciding to get a DSLR from a still picture point of view:

• Are you upgrading?
• Why are you upgrading?
• What did you like about your old camera?
• Are you just getting a camera that focuses/shoots faster than your P&S?
• Do you plan on changing lenses (getting more lenses)?
• Are you creative?
• Do you like the shallow depth of field look?
• Do you shoot a lot in low light?
• Do you plan on getting “good” at this?
• Will you shoot video?
• Do you want to shoot good video/audio?

Lee followed up the discussion with the viewpoint of using the DSLR for shooting video. Lee also provided some good links for those looking to use your DSLR for video:

Good Comics to get for a Comic Newbie (like me)

Justin Vactor, Jason Huebel, and Clay Harrison took the stage next with their takes on good comics to read for a new comic book reader like myself. In this episode we talk about the many location based social networks out there now. My guests are Herman Davis, who is a local twitter friend that is heavy into these location services. He was also interviewed in the local paper for using services like foursquare and gowalla.  We are also joined by Lee Benoit, who’s a regular to the show. We all chime in discussing the various pros and cons for each of the services. We discuss why Foursquare seems to be the leader of the bunch. We also discuss all of the others like gowalla, brightkite, whrrl, scvngr, check.in, and google latitude. We also gossip on who will come out the leader of the bunch and who might die off. Also discussed was whether or not google or facebook might create their own location based network.

My guest for this episode is Larry Henry from LEHSYS and That Beat’s All. We talk about Apple’s iOS 4 and our view on Apple vs Google for phone supremacy. I give my thoughts on the new A-Team remake which strums up some nostalgia for Larry’s and my childhood of 80′s action movies. Larry gives his take on Toy Story 3. We talk shop about the new summer movies like the Expendables, Predators, Inception, Dinner for Schmucks, Knight and Day, Salt, and others. We finish up the episode with Larry giving a rant on the latest beta of Windows Live Writer. The next best freeware blogging software is Zoundry Raven. I forgot to tell Larry it’s a clean rated podcast so I replaced curse words with moos and gobbles.
