Fentons Creamery and Restaurant is celebrating the release of Up on Blu-ray by throwing a party for the public at their Oakland location tonight from 5–8pm. Festivities are reported to include Pixar prizes, animator appearances, and a special Spirit of Adventure Sundae served tonight only.

Luxor Las Vegas Late Checkout

Stayed at the Luxor for the weekend jaunt to Vegas because they're offering a 3PM late checkout through December 28th. (Donald Trump's place is currently running a 4PM checkout special, but his pricing shenanigans were a turn off.) Luxor rooms are starting to show their age, but they're decent for their location and price. Guests get a free pass to LAX, which is useful if the party needs an after hours nightclub destination.

Steve Jobs is Fortune's CEO of the Decade

As a lifelong Apple and Pixar fan—even through the dark days of both companies—it's nice to read that Fortune magazine has named Steve Jobs CEO of the Decade. Fortune editor Adam Lashinsky makes a satisfying reference to Dell by noting that Apple's market cap far surpasses the Windows PC vendor.

Apple Magic Mouse

Apple's new Mighty Magic Mouse needs more pixie dust. The concept of a Multi-Touch surface on a mouse is a great idea, but the shape of the Magic Mouse negates its potential utility. Its diminutive and flat form factor makes the Magic Mouse difficult to grasp, which subsequently requires unnatural hand contortions to execute Multi-Touch gestures. Two-finger swipes are extremely awkward. This power user is also disappointed that the Multi-Touch surface doesn't wrap around the sides in order to simulate a thumb button, or the squeeze from the Magic Mouse's mightier predecessor.

The Hot Iron is to blame for this blog's quasi participation in National Blog Posting Month or NaBloPoMo. WTF, right? Apparently, someone thought it would be cute to spoof NaNoWriMo, which yours truly was amused to learn because a friend of a friend is partaking in National Novel Writing Month.

VMware Fusion 3

Finally got a chance to upgrade to VMware Fusion 3, which sports 50 new features. Fusion 3 is significantly faster under Snow Leopard given the same amount of resources as its predecessor. Somewhat suspect of VMware's claim that Fusion 3 can run "advanced 3D graphics for avid gamers" but am willing to give it a shot if it's good enough to avoid Boot Camp.

Bay Bridge Still Closed

Here's another PSA: The Bay Bridge remains closed for this morning's commute. Here's hoping the closure doesn't somehow mess up traffic in the South Bay like it seemingly did last week. Caltrans is using Twitter to provide status updates that are more current than their website. Calling 511 is another way to stay informed—their website is more current too.
