Qorvo has introduced a new 1.8GHz DOCSIS 4.0 power doubler hybrid amplifier designed to increase downstream RF output without exceeding existing 24V platform power limits.

The QPA3312 is aimed at cable operators upgrading HFC networks to 1.8GHz extended spectrum and Full Duplex DOCSIS 4.0.

Qorvo said the device improves end-of-line signal quality and reduces cascade complexity while allowing operators to retain existing 24V power architectures, housings and SOT-115J hybrid designs.

Bob Simmers, senior marketing manager for Qorvo’s Infrastructure business, said the amplifier enables OEMs and MSOs to strengthen DOCSIS 4.0 networks “without redesigning their infrastructure”.

The QPA3312 is built using Qorvo’s GaN25 process and manufactured in Nuremberg, Germany.

It is currently sampling to key customers and will be shown at ANGA COM 2026 in Cologne from May 19-21.

The German technology provider plans to highlight solutions aimed at network operators, service providers and organisations in the hospitality and leisure sectors. Its streaming systems are designed to support high‑quality and efficient media delivery for business and consumer environments. In‑house distribution technologies will also be on display, covering antennas, multiswitches, amplifiers and subscriber components for a range of building network structures.

For the hospitality market, WISI will present central channel processing devices and systems for receiving, processing and distributing multimedia content in coaxial or IP‑based networks. These are used in hotels, hospitals, amusement parks, sports bars and on cruise ships. Another focus will be the NOVALINK aggregation platform, which bundles 1/10/25G interfaces for long‑distance transport in access networks and supports R‑PHY and R‑MACPHY devices, Ethernet gateways and mobile front‑ and backhaul scenarios.

According to WISI, its current portfolio reflects the industry’s shift from traditional reception technologies to digital and IP‑based media distribution. CEO Axel Sihn stresses that customers increasingly expect solutions that address complex network requirements. “Our customers expect solutions for their increasingly complex network requirements. 100 years of experience have given us the foundation to combine innovation with reliability, both today and in the future,” he said.

The company, founded in 1926 and now in its third generation of family leadership, celebrates its 100-year anniversary this year. Sihn describes the milestone as a continuation of WISI’s long‑standing role in the evolution of media transmission. “A century of WISI means a century of curiosity and the courage to embrace change,” he said.

WISI will exhibit at ANGA COM 2026 in Cologne in hall 8, booth A14, from 19 to 21 May.

The move, first reported in July 2024, is intended to consolidate technology resources, improve efficiency and scalability, and support the RTL Group’s target of making its streaming business profitable in 2026.

The migration was finalised in April and marks a significant milestone for RTL+, which has more than 7.3 million subscribers, making it Germany’s largest domestic streaming service. RTL Deutschland had previously used a platform developed in-house for RTL+.

“The migration to Bedrock is an important step in the further development of RTL+. With the changeover, we are standardising our technology platform and can now improve it in a targeted way. At the same time, it supports our goal of developing the RTL Group’s streaming business into a sustainably profitable operation,” said Henning Nieslony, Chief Streaming Officer of RTL Deutschland.

Jonas Engwall, Chief Executive Officer of Bedrock, added: “RTL Deutschland and Bedrock have, in our view, successfully completed the largest migration of a streaming platform of this kind in Europe. We are very grateful for the trust placed in us and look forward to supporting RTL Deutschland’s further growth.”

Engwall said: “With the integration of RTL+, Bedrock becomes the largest pan-European streaming platform and reaches a scale that will enable significant innovation and cost efficiencies over time.”

Bedrock was established as a joint venture between M6, RTL Deutschland and RTL Group. The company now serves 10 million subscribers and 45 million users across six countries.

Among the services operated on the platform are M6+, Videoland and RTL+.

Teleste and Vecima Networks have announced a cooperation to offer European cable operators an open, interoperable distributed access architecture solution.

The partnership combines Vecima’s Entra vCMTS cloud-native virtualised cable access core with Teleste’s Remote PHY node portfolio, supported by Teleste’s European sales and support organisation.

The companies said the model is designed to help operators scale ultra-high-bandwidth services while preserving long-term freedom of choice across both core and Remote PHY domains.

Operators will be able to source the solution through Teleste, while retaining flexibility to select components according to network requirements. The cooperation is non-exclusive and both companies said they remain open to multi-vendor deployments.

Ulf Andersson, EVP Networks at Teleste, said operators want freedom to choose the right network building blocks “without that choice becoming a commercial constraint tomorrow”.

Ryan Nicometo, SVP and GM, Video & Broadband Solutions at Vecima, said interoperability remains central to Vecima’s approach and the partnership will support simpler integration for European operators.

Through its subsidiary NEP Europe, the US-based media services provider is supplying the technical infrastructure for this year’s event, including main and backup outside broadcast facilities, wireless RF camera systems, a dedicated technical operations centre and engineering support. The 70th edition of Eurovision is taking place at Vienna’s Wiener Stadthalle, with semi-finals on 12 and 14 May and the grand final on 16 May.

At the centre of the production is NEP’s TFC control platform, which will manage IP-based SMPTE ST 2110 signal routing across software and hardware systems. The setup also includes multiview monitoring and redundant workflows designed for large-scale live production.

A new feature for the 2026 contest is the integration of ARRI Alexa 35 cinematic cameras into the live production workflow. The cameras are being deployed in collaboration with Riedel Communications to add a more cinematic visual style to the live broadcast.

NEP is leading the integration of these cameras into its established multi-camera workflow, ensuring the cinematic elements are seamlessly incorporated into a complex, live, audience-driven production.

“Eurovision continues to evolve both creatively and technically, and we’re proud to provide the scale and depth of solutions required to bring the production to life for its massive global fanbase,” said Lise Heidal, President of NEP Europe. “Our teams are excited to support ORF in delivering this year’s show from Vienna – our seventh consecutive year on the event -, working together with our partners to enable new visual approaches while maintaining the reliability and flexibility NEP is known for in global productions.”

Axel Engström, Project Director at NEP Europe, added: “We’ve worked extensively with a wide range of camera systems and technologies over the years, and bringing the ARRI Alexa 35 into Eurovision represents another exciting innovation. Our expertise lies in integrating these tools seamlessly into complex live workflows, enabling new creative possibilities while maintaining the reliability and scale the event demands.”

Alongside NEP’s broadcast services, sister company Creative Technology will provide LED screens and display systems for the stage production.

The agreement will see the media services provider continue to support both the German and UK operations of Hearst Networks. Full Season manages playout for linear channels The History Channel and Crime + Investigation in Germany, alongside scalable VOD and content management services in multiple European markets.

“We value Full Season as a reliable and forward-thinking partner. This extension reflects strong performance and the strength of our collaboration, as well as our confidence in their continued support,” said Kathrin Palesch, Managing Director of Hearst Networks Germany.

Alexander Neemann, Head of Sales at Full Season, added: “In a market where reliability is non-negotiable, long-term partnerships are built on trust, consistent delivery, and a shared commitment to operational excellence. We are proud to continue supporting Hearst Networks across multiple markets with resilient playout and VoD services, and to further evolve our partnership by enabling scalable, future-ready media operations.”

Full Season was established in 2025 following the acquisition by MBS of selected playout, content management and IP delivery operations from Astra satellite operator SES in Germany and the UK. The business was carved out as an independent media services provider specialising in playout, VOD delivery, OTT solutions and content management services.

The transaction marked a strategic expansion for MBS – formerly known as Media Broadcast Satellite – beyond its traditional satellite and communications infrastructure activities into the wider media services sector. Around 60 employees and the existing SES media operations in Unterföhring near Munich transferred to the new company.

Full Season positions itself as a provider of business-critical broadcast and digital media services, operating multi-site infrastructure across Europe and offering playout, content management, distribution and large-scale VOD delivery services to broadcasters and media companies.

Huawei has filed a patent infringement action against RTL Group at the Mannheim Local Division of the Unified Patent Court (UPC), in a dispute over MPEG-DASH streaming technology.

The case centres on European patent EP2493191, titled “Method, device and system for realizing hierarchically requesting content in http streaming system”. The patent relates to techniques designed to improve the delivery of streamed video by managing how content requests are routed between cache and higher-level servers to reduce buffering.

The infringement action follows a revocation suit launched by RTL Group in November 2025 at the Paris seat of the UPC’s Central Division against another Huawei MPEG-DASH patent, EP2945339.

RTL Group, which runs streaming services RTL+ and M6+, has increasingly expanded its direct-to-consumer business, ending 2025 with 8.1 million paying subscribers.

The dispute highlights mounting pressure on streaming platforms over video codec and delivery patents. Huawei is a contributor to the Avanci Video licensing platform, which launched its streaming licensing programme earlier this year.

A number of Avanci licensors are also pursuing litigation against Disney over video streaming patents in Europe and the United States. Disney was recently forced to remove Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support from Disney+ in parts of Europe following injunctions secured by InterDigital in Germany and Brazil.

The Huawei action against RTL was filed on April 15 but only became public this week.

Amagi has made its In-Content Ads offering available through the Amagi ADS PLUS marketplace, opening programmatic access to non-traditional CTV ad formats across hundreds of streaming channels.

The offering is powered by Thunderstorm, Amagi’s server-side ad insertion and dynamic ad stitching platform, and is designed to place advertising directly into linear video content in real time.

Initial formats include overlays, squeezebacks and picture-in-picture ads, allowing advertisers to run high-impact campaigns alongside existing mid-roll inventory without extending ad pod length or interrupting the viewer experience.

Amagi said the marketplace is intended to create incremental revenue opportunities for content owners and streaming platforms, while giving advertisers new ways to improve campaign performance in premium news, sports and entertainment environments.

Srinivasan KA, co-founder and president, global business, at Amagi, said the launch would help advertisers and content owners “unlock more value from streaming audiences while preserving the viewer experience”.

The marketplace is launching with participation from ad platforms and advertisers including Olyzon, which reported improved brand desirability and awareness in a campaign for a European luxury fashion house using Amagi’s formats.

Partners including Plex, TCL, Telus, Banijay, Racer Select and OTT Studios are also supporting the marketplace as Amagi expands its programmatic in-content advertising footprint.

In the pilot project, launched in June 2024, MSA is working with terrestrial network operator Media Broadcast to assess how traditional broadcasting can be combined with 5G mobile technology using a point-to-multipoint architecture. This approach means a single signal is broadcast simultaneously to all compatible devices, similar to conventional digital terrestrial television, rather than using individual mobile data streams.

The trial uses UHF channel 40 at the transmitter site in the city of Halle and is designed to test the distribution of TV channels and other services using the 5G Broadcast standard. Local TV channel MDF 1 is part of the line up, marking the first time a local commercial broadcaster is involved in a 5G Broadcast trial in Germany.

A key feature of the technology is that reception does not require a SIM card or mobile contract. Instead, compatible devices such as smartphones, tablets or in-car systems can receive content directly via broadcast signals, without consuming mobile data volume.

According to the MSA, the objectives of the extension include further testing with near-series 5G-enabled devices and the development of potential warning functionalities, indicating a possible future role for the technology in public alert systems alongside media distribution.

“Today’s meeting highlights the wide range of tasks carried out by MSA,” said MSA Assembly Chairman Markus Kurze following the Assembly’s decision to extend the trial. “I am pleased that together with partners such as Media Broadcast we are making broadcast technology future-proof.”

Francie Petrick, Managing Director of Media Broadcast, added: “With the extension of the pilot project in Halle, we are creating the basis to continue testing 5G Broadcast in a well‑founded way, both in its technological and societal relevance. The results so far show the potential this technology holds for future‑proof media distribution and for protecting the population.”

The Halle pilot was launched following a tender published by MSA in April 2024. The initial allocation was limited to two years, with the possibility of extension.

With the extension, the trial can now run until 31 May 2028.

The Austrian streaming technology provider will supply a managed cloud encoding service that supports 3‑pass encoding, UHD and a multi‑codec workflow including AVC, HEVC and AV1. According to both companies, the move is designed to deliver higher film‑grade quality and faster turnaround times as MUBI continues to expand its curated catalogue.

Both companies completed the migration ahead of the shutdown of MUBI’s previous infrastructure, with encoding workflows fully transferred to the cloud service without disrupting catalogue delivery.

Andy Dust, CTO at MUBI, said: “At MUBI, every film we deliver deserves the highest possible quality. We needed an encoding partner who could match our ambitions, not just for today’s catalogue, but for where we’re taking our platform. Bitmovin’s HDR and AV1 expertise, fast response times and collaborative approach made the decision straightforward. We’re excited to build our next chapter of premium content delivery together.”

Ian Baglow, Co-CEO, Bitmovin, added: “With its carefully curated catalogue of film content, MUBI brings quality cinema to film lovers globally. Bitmovin’s VOD encoder delivers outstanding quality of experience as well as multi-codec streaming support, so is well positioned to support MUBI in this endeavour.”
