While the Ghost Recon Future Soldier trailer has be all a-twitter, I can’t help but be disappointed at the run-of-the-mill tag line at the end of the trailer.

Really? That’s the best you can do? This tag line insinuates the dead can fight. They can’t. They’re dead.

Maybe you meant to say something like:

THE DEAD FOUGHT FAIR. BUT NOW THEY’RE DEAD.

Or:

IT’S DUMB TO FIGHT FAIR BECAUSE YOU DIE WHEN YOU DO THAT.

Or, well, something else of that nature. Either way, it’s a dumb tagline. But a great trailer. Looking forward to the Gears of War-style third person over the shoulder POV.

That’s right, the entirely redesigned, super Metro dashboard is live for those who signed up for the preview.

Upon signing in this evening I was prompted to install an update which required a couple of restarts. After the second restart I was presented with the new dashboard which used my existing background but was sporting the new layout.

I had to reinstall my commonly-used apps (ESPN, Hulu, Netflix) from the new Apps section but everything went off without a hitch.

I played some Gears 3 and got several pop-ups that friends wanted to play Gears 3, almost to the point of annoyance. I’ll have to check out the Beacons setting to see if I can quiet it down a bit.

Performance seems fine, no real speed improvements over the previous dashboard.

What are your thoughts on the new dashboard?

Unfortunately, GameInformer is right — lots of first person shooter developers, while very capable game makers, have fallen prey to the “follow me” style of gameplay. R6P looks to change all that.

With a delay of only a few hours, the Horde Command Pack has officially been released. Sporting three new player skins (Big Rig Dizzy, Onyx Guard and Bernie Mataki,) two new weapon skins and three maps (two new, one classic.)

With a delay of only a few hours, the Horde Command Pack has officially been released. Sporting three new player skins (Big Rig Dizzy, Onyx Guard and Bernie Mataki,) two new weapon skins and three maps (two new, one classic.)

I’ve only spent about an hour on each of the HCP maps but, frankly, nothing beats Blood Drive. I find my mind lingering back to it even when I’m playing Azura or Rustlung.

Personally, I’m pretty happy with the Halloween hats in Guild Wars this year. Lion’s Arch provided all those who tolerated the Mad King Thorn’s visit a tricorne pirate hate (pictured right) and those who endured his wit in Kamadan received a reaper’s hood.

All in all, I’m quite pleased with the outcome. To boot, a recycled joke from Halloween 2007 made me chuckle:

Yeah. Good times.

We’ll also get to dive into Zeta Squad led by Barrick and featuring Kim, Tai and a new character as well. Looking forward to this 1200MS point DLC coming December 13th.

Today, Microsoft and Epic Games announced “RAAM’s Shadow,” the new campaign experience for the award-winning blockbuster, “Gears of War 3.” Starring a cast of characters both new and eerily familiar to the series, “RAAM’s Shadow” will deliver more than three hours of gameplay set in a storyline that precedes the events of the first “Gears of War,” as well as six new multiplayer characters, the Chocolate Weapon Set and an additional 250 Gamerscore. “RAAM’s Shadow” will launch Dec. 13 for 1,200 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, marking the second major game add-on for this year’s critically-acclaimed blockbuster, “Gears of War 3.”

“When we announced the ‘Gears 3’ Season Pass, we immediately started getting hundreds of questions from fans about what the game add-ons would be,” said Epic Games Design Director Cliff Bleszinski. “We’re really excited to be lifting the curtain on the first two releases, first with the ‘Horde Command Pack’ and now with ‘RAAM’s Shadow,’ which gives fans a new perspective on the ‘Gears’ universe and is also the biggest DLC release we’ve ever made.”

“RAAM’s Shadow” drops players into the events of Sera post-Emergence Day, as Zeta Squad is enlisted to evacuate Ilima City and protect the citizens against a Locust Kryll storm. Taking on the infamous Locust leader from “Gears 1,” General RAAM, Zeta is led by Michael Barrick (from “Gears of War” comics fame) and comprised of familiar faces such as Lt. Minh Young Kim (“Gears 1”) and Tai Kaliso (“Gears 2”), and also includes a new female comrade, Alicia Valera.

In addition to fighting as a new squad of Gears, players will step into the boots of RAAM himself, and for the first time storm the human stronghold from the perspective of one of the series’ most legendary bosses.
