Kuala Sepetang, is a village in Taiping, Perak which is well known for its mee udang (prawn mee). One of the famous mee udang restaurants is Mee Udang Mak Jah (Mak Jah’s Prawn Mee). The journey to Kuala Sepetang takes about 10 to 15 minutes drive from Simpang, Taiping. You’ll easily find Mak Jah Mee Udang since there are few signboards to the restaurant with distance to go i.e. 7km, 3.5km, 500m.

Kuala Sepetang which formerly known as Port Weld is a fishing village hence the prawns served to the customer are fresh.

The Monsopiad Cultural Village is located in Penampang, Sabah. A journey by car should take more or less 20 minutes drive from Kota Kinabalu town. The Monsopiad Cultural Village has been built with traditional materials, the way the Kadazandusun, as many other ethnic entities in Borneo. Known as the 'living museum' of Sabah warriors, the cultural village is actually built on the ground where a warrior named Monsopiad grew up.

A visit to Monsopiad Cultural village is a must when you're visiting Kota Kinablu. You'll learn a lot of thing about culture, traditions and history of Sabah's largest ethnic group here. You might want to spend at least 3 hours here to experience everything that they offer.

The National Planetarium was launch to the public in May 1993 and was officially opened by the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Mahathir Mohamad, on February 7, 1994. The National Planetarium, which is now owned by the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment is a place where for science studies, especially in the area of outer space.

The are a few different galleries in the National Planetarium. The key highlight of the Planetarium is the space theatre which screens space shows and large format film. The show features of two to three different stories and documentary which is played as schedule. Ticket prices are different for each show.

One of the section that capture my attention in the National Planetarium is the ‘Working in Space’ area. In this section, we can try and feel how our first very own astronaut, Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor worked in the space craft. There are a few things that you can try such as the Glove Box, Check the Heart Beat and the Standing Sleeping Bag.

The planetarium is opened daily from 10am to 4pm except on Mondays, Hari Raya Puasa and Hari Raya Haji holidays.

To go there, you can either drive or take the Hop-On Hop-Off busses. You can also walk to the National Planetarium from the National Museum using the overhead pedestrian bridge.

There are 2 main galleries that are permanent and temporary galleries. Melaka River And Coastal Development Corporation established the Melaka River Cruise (MRC) and was officially launched by the Chief Minister on 11 November 2005. Melaka River have been introduced by the State Government as a major tourist state river.

Melaka River Cruise has started their operation on February 18th, 2008. The journey of the MRC takes about 45 minutes and distance is 9 km. The MRC will take you along the Melaka River and you will be told the history, development and some interesting things of the buildings and area along the river.

Taman Mini Malaysia & Taman Mini ASEAN is located in Ayer Keroh, Melaka, by the main road side just a few kilometres after the Ayer Keroh toll plaza. There are 13 houses represent the architectural styles of all 13 states in Malaysia and 12 represents 12 houses of ASEAN countries - decorated with various items, arts and crafts that reflect the culture of each state.

Inside each of the houses, there is a variety of authentic handicrafts originating from the state or country it represents. Inside these traditional houses which mostly were built on stilts, also are displays the image of the traditional Malay costumes specific to the state.

Other tourist attraction at the Taman Mini Malaysia & ASEAN is the cultural show and traditional dances and games which are held every weekend.

Little Penang Street Market is a monthly market which takes place on the last Sunday of each month,10 am to 5pm in Upper Penang Road. The street market began on July 2006 and has become established as a major venue for the showcasing of Penang’s culture and creativity.

The Little Penang Street Market is a non-profit market, run by a volunteer committee, under the auspices of the Penang Arts Council. It combines some 70 craft stalls with food, live performances in The Space, visual arts, children’s activities, hands-on demonstrations and book readings. The booth and performances are different for every month, depending on the volunteers and performers. The next market is on Sunday, 27th July 2010 and it’s going to celebrate its 4th anniversary.

The National Museum is the principal museum in the country. It was opened on 31 August 1963 to serve as a repository of Malaysia's rich cultural heritage and as the centre for imparting knowledge on the country's historical past.

National Museum is a three storied structure of 109.7 meters long and 15.1 meters wide and 37.6 meters at the central point. The museum houses four main galleries specialising in ethnology and natural history. The displays range from free-standing tableaux showing traditional cultural events like weddings, festivals and beautiful costumes; to the rich variety of weapons, musical instruments, arts and crafts, precious ceramics, and flora & fauna.

Beside the main building, there are several other building compiled as the National Museum. such as the Orang Asli Craft Museum and Malay World Gallery.

Alor Setar Tower (Menara Alor Setar), Kedah

The Menara Alor Setar is a 165.5 meter tall tower in Alor Setar, in the state of Kedah, Malaysia. It was built for Telekom Malaysia at a cost of RM40 million. It was officially launched on 14th Auguts 1997 by former PM, Tun Dr Mahathir Muhammad. It is recognized as Malaysia's second and worls 19th talled telecommunication tower respectively.

Apart from serving the role of a telecommunication tower, it also caters as a tourist destination for the town. The tower also houses some restaurants and a souvenir shop. The tower is an observatory tower to look for the crescent moon to mark the beginning of Muslim months.

The Menara Alor Setar architectural design is unique and exclusively as it symbolizes Kedah's establishment reputations the 'rice bowl' of Malaysia. The tower pillar clearly resembles the image of a bunch of paddies.

War Museum (Muzium Perang), Penang

War Museum , Penang is an original fortress built in the 1930's by the British. The fortress that protect Penang Island during the World War II not only manned by the British soldier but also by the Malay and Sikh. During the WWII, the Japanese succed in attacked and conquered this fortress. The Japanese then use the place as their base.The fortress above the Batu Maung Hill were then deserted aster war ended in 1945 and was abonded.

The fortress is built on a land of 20 acres. It was complete with everything needed for a war - military tunnels,canon firing bay, medical infirmary, hall, offices, lock ups, cook house and sleeping quarters. The idea of reconstruct and open the fortress to the public came from a Penangite, Johari Shafie somewhere in 2002.

You'll need to spend a few hours here because the large area, but it'll give you satisfaction and sure does bring you back to the Malaya and during the WWII, just like the welcoming signboard that says "Welcome to Malaya, You are back".

Established since June 1999, the Rice Museum is the most comprehensive exhibition center displaying artifacts, charts, photographs as well as actual rice-planting tools. A visit to the Museum provides a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the role and significance of padi and rice in the life of Malaysians. Visitors can view the padi plots and enjoy the aroma of the cultivated fragrant rice with a bird's eye view of rice planting activities in padi fields from the rooftop. Rice Farm Visitors have the chance to participate in padi planting activities made available throughout the season. This includes the usage of traditional padi planting methods and modern cultivation process. Related post- harvest activities are also demonstrated.

There are basically 3 levels of the museum. The 1st level is the real paddy museum where they placed all the instruments used in padi haervesting from the traditional tools to the latest technology machines. There are also facts about rice, history of paddy cultivation and traditional lifestyle and entertainment of the farmers.

While the 3rd level of the museum is a place with a beautiful painting of a padi field area that looks so real. what makes it more cool is the rotating auditorium. you can just sit on the cair and enjoying the view while the auditorium rotate. to get to the 3rd level, you'll need to climb a spiral staircase, which the wall look like an inside cave wall.

last but not least, don't forget to get yourself some souvenir from the Rice Museum.

Penang Dragon Boat Festival

Dragon boat racing is one of our Penang State Signature Event. It is among the fastest growing water sports in this region. Dragon Boat Racing has become a very popular corporate and charitable sport, during which friendship, strength and endurance are developed among the participants. The PIDBF is organized by the Penang State Government.

The PIDBF Celebration Dinner will be held on Sunday May 24, 2009 at 8pm onwards. The dinner is open to public and there will be multiple cultural dances, an exploding belly dance performance, hip-hop performances as well as traditional performances from the respective foreign participants.

The National Monument

The Malaysia National Monument was officially opened on 8 February 1966 by yang Di-Pertuan Agong. The National Monument stands at 15.54m high. It was made of bronze; designed by Austrian sculptor Felix de Weldon, who was also responsible for the famed USMC War Memorial in Virginia, United States.

The original monument had been damaged due to an explosion set off by a communist terrorist on August 27, 1975. It was then been restored on May 11, 1977. It was used to be open but then a fence was put-up and will be closed on the night.

The monument consist of seven human figures, each one symbolized different qualities: courage, leadership, sacrifice, strength, suffering, unity and vigilance.

Before the seven bronze men national monument was set up, the national monument was a 10m height cenotaph that was situated in the middle of a roundabout connecting Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin and Jalan Parlimen, which then was move to its present place. The cenotaph was set up by the British administration to commemorate the wars and honor the heroes of World War I, Worlds War II and the Emergency.

There are basically five principal components that comprise the 48,562 meter square area memorial site: the monument ; a reflecting pool with fountain; a crescent-shaped pavillion; the cenotaph; and the gardens.

Beside the national monument itself, there is an ASEAN Sculpture Garden located below the National Monument. There are many completely different sculptures made from bamboo, iron, marble and wood in the park. It has a collection of prize-winning sculptures by some of the finest artists in the ASEAN countries that is Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philipines, Loas, Myammar and Brunei.
