Ohio State’s new inside zone-read game will depend heavily not just on Braxton Miller, but also on the running backs the Buckeyes have to offer. This group is a diverse mix of smaller, quicker backs and bigger power backs that can help out in a large array of offensive situations.
OSU returns only three backs with experience: Jordan Hall, Carlos Hyde and Rod Smith. But those three do have the ability to make plays in the running game.
Hall is the best receiver of the three. He should be more heavily utilized in the passing game this year, rather than taking handoffs and running up the middle. He has some good quickness and the ability to make some players miss, even though he doesn’t have breakaway speed.
Hyde has excellent speed for any back. To have it at 240 pounds is just a huge bonus. He has a little bit of Beanie Wells in him when it comes to the speed-size combination. However, Wells has many more moves in the open field than Hyde does, and he has the amazing stiff arm that…

No. 119: Corey Linsley, #71, C, Ohio State
2011 Stats: Backup guard/center
Strengths
Few, if any Buckeyes have undergone as complete a transformation as Linsley has under Urban Meyer, and for that he finds himself starting at center and leading a reloading offensive line. Linsley’s strength has always been there, but coaches can now count on his focus and commitment as well, and that’s how Linsley won the center job so easily in the spring of 2012.
Weaknesses
What Linsley still lacks, however, is a lot of game experience. He was a backup throughout his first three years on campus, and one would have hoped for more physical development to show for that amount of time in the program. He was also suspended for an undisclosed violation of team rules last season. One would think most of these weaknesses are things of the past, though.
2012 Prediction
Linsley is a new starter in a conference full of very good returning starters at center, so no matter how well he does in 2012, he’s a…

For most, summer is a time for fun, vacation and relaxation, but for these certain players, it will be a time of rigorous work and hopefully, improvement. Last year’s Buckeyes were extremely far from perfect and were honestly one of the worst Ohio State teams in the past 10 years.
Luckily, Urban Meyer looks to have things heading in the right direction, but the new head coach is no miracle worker, and if the Buckeyes are going to return to their old ways, a few players are going to have to improve before the season begins.
Here’s to hoping they really bring it this summer and take the field ready to make a major difference.

Ohio State’s doing a lot of things really well in recruiting. The Ohio State coaches in particular are recruiting very well. Recruits love the coaches! The coaches are not screwing anything up about Ohio State recruiting!
The fans, though…well, we’re going to have to talk about the fans. Not all of them, obviously, but enough of them that it’s hurting Ohio State’s reputation, and it has actively pushed away at least two recruits this year alone.
The latest incident on the radar is the Ohio State fan reaction to Michigan commit Logan Tuley-Tillman’s self-mail arson, or whatever you want to call lighting an Oho State recruiting letter on fire. Now, that’s a pretty disrespectful thing to do to Ohio State, and if talking to recruits and/or their families wasn’t creepy as all hell, an Ohio State fan might even be justified in calling Tuley-Tillman a jerk.
What is not justifiable in any damn sense, however, is directing death threats at Tuley-Tillman and his family, even in jest,…
